He is also a founder of Walnut Grove Homes, an upscale residential construction company based in Troy, Michigan which reached seven-figure status in 2021. He is a General Partner (GP) on a 34 unit apartment near Knoxville, TN. He also owns a 14-unit apartment in Orlando, FL as a joint venture. In addition to his active multifamily investments, he is passively invested in 572 multifamily units across the United States. George is a published bioscientist with over 600 citations in the fields of genomics, microbiology and physiology as well as an award winning data scientist during his W-2 days. George is the host of “The Foundery – Where Leaders are Forged Daily!”, a podcast devoted to entrepreneurship, mindset and syndication. Vadim Rey was born in Ukraine, raised in Los Angeles, and educated in Boston. Having grown up blocks from Hollywood, CA, he was surrounded by wealth and yet lived in subsidized housing. Though his family and deaf parents did not have the comforts of money, they provided him with the grit, determination, and love that come from an immigrant family. Vadim was commissioned as a Naval Officer in 2015 and will be resigning his commission in 2022 to make this world a better place through apartment investing, partnering with youth-focused non-profits, and traveling as much as possible. Vadim jumped into real estate after hearing enough about this strategy that allows active duty service members to buy a house every 2-5 years with no money down. Using the VA loan, he bought a townhouse in MD in 2018, learned from ADPI’s multifamily investing education program in 2019, and then he was off to the races. In 2020, Vadim house hacked a duplex using the VA loan again, secured his first GP position on a 23 unit syndication, and started Fair Winds Capital Investments with three other active-duty Naval Officers. In 2021, Fair Winds Capital Investments closed a 28-unit syndication deal, started Following Seas Property Management, and opened a real estate fund for both accredited and non-accredited investors to make this world a better place.

In this week's episode, Pinny speaks with Andrew Cushman who transitioned from a full-time chemical engineer to acquiring and repositioning over 1,800 multifamily units.
For over a decade, Andrew has been growing real estate investment businesses full-time. Starting off with single-family properties in the depths of the Great Recession, Andrew completed 27 single family flips (purchase, rehab, sell), all of which were very profitable. In 2011 Andrew transitioned to the acquisition and repositioning of multifamily properties, acquiring a mostly vacant 92 unit property on the other side of the country as a first deal. That first property was eventually sold for several times its original purchase price, and Andrew now acquires B Class, value-add properties throughout the Southeast. In total, Andrew and his team have acquired and repositioned over 1,800 multifamily units to date. Outside of the business world, Andrew has been a certified alpine ski instructor and when not working in real estate enjoys surfing, backcountry skiing, and trying to not be outwitted by his two children.
