Detective Esi Addo is on the hunt for a serial killer who leaves no cause of death, but her investigation is being "helped" by mysterious government agent Hollister Crane, who knows more about the murders than she should. As Esi dives deeper into the case, she discovers that nope, it's not a conspiracy, magic is real and there's a whole lot of wizard supremacists who want her dead and she's just gotta deal cos she's a regular ass muggle.

Moderately successful comedian Richard (Bill Hader) decides to change up his career by trying murder, but when everyone mistakes his genuine attempts at homicide as a new bit, he rockets to comedy stardom (and murder ineptitude).
