Plain Talk About Plastic Surgery

By Dr. Elizabeth Kerner
I'm your host, Dr. Elizabeth Kerner. I hope you'll think of me as your sister, the plastic surgeon, who will tell you like it really is. I have been in practice in Plano & Dallas, TX for over 30 years, and I am American Board of Plastic Surgery certified. During my career I have had the honor to serve over 13,000 patients. Each episode will focus on one area of plastic surgery in depth, discussing the anatomy, the operative technique, risks, potential complications, and most importantly, who would be a good candidate and who would not be a good candidate.

How Breast Reduction Surgery Works and What To Expect
There are so many questions women have regarding breast reduction surgery, and they can feel overwhelming at first. That's why I created this episode. What is breast reduction surgery, and why would women want to have a breast reduction?  Do you have to pay for breast reduction yourself?  How do we get insurance to cover breast reduction surgery?  What surgical techniques are available for breast reduction, which one is best for you. What are the pros and cons of each technique?  What are the possible surgical complications?  Who is a good candidate for breast reduction surgery? As a plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience, breast reduction surgery is my favorite procedure because I know that I'm making a direct and dramatic impact on someone's life by doing this operation. In plastic surgery circles, breast reduction is the most positive patient operation. In my experience, patients are just uniformly so happy that they did this operation, and they feel so much better.  I always hear from patients, especially the older ones, "Why didn't I do this 20 years ago and take the pain and the weight off my back and my shoulders, I would have been so much happier." I hope this episode answers a lot of your questions. I think it will be very helpful to patients who are considering breast reduction because when you come into our office and we do our first consultation, it's an awful lot of information to try and remember, and there's no way you can write it all down. And although we do provide you with consultation sheets, I don't think they're quite as informative as basically hearing me go over the entire consultation as I do in this episode.  If you have any questions at all, please call the office or look on our website, www.DrKerner.com. I hope you enjoy this episode. For other episodes, and upcoming episodes, you can go to my website www.DrKerner.com/podcasts or you can subscribe to our newsletter to know when a new episode is available, and also find our episodes on YouTube. Have a wonderful day, and don't forget to use your sunblock.

How To Find A Sizer Bra For Your Breast Augmentation Procedure
A Sizer Bra is a normal bra of the cup size that you want to fit into comfortably after your operation. This bra is used during surgery as a guide to ensure your breasts will fit comfortably into it so you get the size breasts that you want.  I do find that lots of patients seem to be a bit confused about what a Sizer Bra is and how to find a bra of the type and form we're looking for, or are bringing in an inappropriate size. So today I'm going to talk to you about how to find a Sizer Bra and what to look for. I'd also like to give you a little of the amazing history about the brassiere.  Welcome to Plain Talk About Plastic Surgery, a podcast to educate you about all things concerning plastic surgery procedures and operations, and other topics of relevance, with down to earth and honest information.  I'm your host, Dr. Elizabeth Kerner. Let's get started!
