I have been in practice in Plano & Dallas, TX for over 30 years, and I am American Board of Plastic Surgery certified. During my career I have had the honor to serve over 13,000 patients. Lumps, and Bumps, and Moles, Oh My!

Lumps, and Bumps, and Moles, Oh My!

Thank you for joining me! Today we're going to talk about all the little lumps, and bumps, and moles that bring people into my office.

In this episode I'll explain the different types of lumps, bumps, and moles that we all seem to pick up as we age, including how they form, how they are best removed, and what differentiates an aesthetic concern from a true health and wellbeing concern.

We cover a lot of interesting ground in this episode, and answer many of the questions people have:

What is the difference between a lipoma and a sebaceous cyst?

Is surgery the only option to remove a lipoma, or should a treatment like Kybella be considered?

Are lipomas benign?

How can sebaceous cysts be removed?

Which sebaceous cysts can be removed in-office, and which should be removed in the operating room?

What are dermoids?

Are glandular tumors benign? What about dermatofibromas?

Can moles be removed without scarring?

Are skin checks to screen for skin cancer really necessary, and how often should a skin check be done?

As a plastic surgeon with over 32 years of experience, I've addressed the questions and concerns of thousands of patients, and I can tell you that everyone has questions when it comes to plastic surgery, and breast implants are no exception. That's why I made this episode!

What to Know About Breast Implants

What to Know About Breast Implants

Thank you for joining me! Today we're going to talk about breast implants; how they came to be, and what they are like now.

In this episode I'll explain the different types of breast implants, from their simple (and often problematic) beginnings, to the state of the art implants currently available today that I use in my own practice.

We cover a lot of interesting ground in this episode, and answer many of the questions people have about breast implants:

What are the differences between silicone and saline breast implants?

What materials are breast implants made from, and is one type of breast implant widely considered to be safer than the others?

Are smooth or textured breast implants considered better?

Do all breast implants fail over time, and what are the risks and complications when a breast implant of each type fails?

What type and material of breast implant looks best on each woman's body type?

What is my favorite type of breast implant to use in my practice? (Spoiler alert: I love the Ideal Implant, and I'll explain why I think you'll love it too!)

Is wrinkling always an issue with saline implants… and does it have to be?

Health studies and data of past, older style breast implants from the '70s, '80s and '90s no longer really apply to today's 5th-generation style of implants. Why is that, and what changed?

As a plastic surgeon with over 32 years of experience, I've addressed the questions and concerns of thousands of patients, and I can tell you that everyone has questions when it comes to plastic surgery, and breast implants are no exception. That's why I made this episode!

How Tummy Tuck Surgery Works and What to Expect

Thank you for joining me!

Today we're going to talk about abdominoplasty, or as it is more commonly known, the tummy tuck.

I will go over my consultation when patients come in who are interested in doing something to improve their abdominal wall, and then we'll discuss the risks and complications of tummy tuck surgery as well as the surgical technique. We'll also touch on your post-operative course and recovery.

Hopefully by listening to this podcast, it will answer questions that might have arisen after your consultation with me in the office.

We cover a lot of interesting ground in this episode, and answer many of the common (and uncommon) questions people have about abdominoplasty:

Why do people have tummy tuck surgery? Is it the skin? The fat? The protrusion? And how can a tummy tuck address those concerns?

What does the tummy tuck operation involve, and what is actually done during surgery?

What about complications like scarring, blood clots, and skin health?

What is recovery like? How long does recovering from a tummy tuck take?

What can you not do after an abdominoplasty?

Who is a good candidate for a tummy tuck, and who is not?

As a plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience, I've addressed the questions and concerns of thousands of men and women, and I can tell you that everyone has questions when it comes to plastic surgery, and tummy tuck surgery is no exception. That's why I made this episode!

How Breast Reduction Surgery Works and What To Expect

How Breast Reduction Surgery Works and What To Expect

There are so many questions women have regarding breast reduction surgery, and they can feel overwhelming at first. That's why I created this episode.

What is breast reduction surgery, and why would women want to have a breast reduction?

Do you have to pay for breast reduction yourself?

How do we get insurance to cover breast reduction surgery?

What surgical techniques are available for breast reduction, which one is best for you.

What are the pros and cons of each technique?

What are the possible surgical complications?

Who is a good candidate for breast reduction surgery?

As a plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience, breast reduction surgery is my favorite procedure because I know that I'm making a direct and dramatic impact on someone's life by doing this operation. In plastic surgery circles, breast reduction is the most positive patient operation. In my experience, patients are just uniformly so happy that they did this operation, and they feel so much better.

I always hear from patients, especially the older ones, "Why didn't I do this 20 years ago and take the pain and the weight off my back and my shoulders, I would have been so much happier."

I hope this episode answers a lot of your questions. I think it will be very helpful to patients who are considering breast reduction because when you come into our office and we do our first consultation, it's an awful lot of information to try and remember, and there's no way you can write it all down. And although we do provide you with consultation sheets, I don't think they're quite as informative as basically hearing me go over the entire consultation as I do in this episode.

If you have any questions at all, please call the office or look on our website, www.DrKerner.com. I hope you enjoy this episode.
