Planthropology

By Vikram Baliga

If you're on this planet, plants have a HUGE impact on your life. Whether you're a vegan, a carnivore, or somewhere in between, plants are the basis of the food you eat, the clothes your wear, and the air you breathe. We don't intended just to teach you plant facts (though we'll do plenty of that), but to give you some insight into the cool people who work with them. From the soil to the plate, dive into the anthropology of plants (get it?) and learn a little more about why you should care about the world around you from the people who care about it the most.

EP 0.5. Updates, Platforms, and Sound Bites

What's up, plant people! I just couldn't wait to talk to you again, so here is Episode 0.5- Updates, Platforms, and Sound Bites. I've recorded quite a few interviews already and wanted to give you a sneak peak at the brainy goodness that all these cool folks left in my office. Thanks so much to the Texas Tech Department of Plant and Soil Science for being so super supportive of this project. I can't wait for you all to hear from our faculty, staff, students, and graduates about why they're so cool and so passionate about nature and science. Find more info about the Plant and Soil Science Department HERE

Thanks also to the people have already come on to chat with me! Y'all are going to just love Kyle Tengler, Daniel Cunningham, Hallie Casey, Katherine Drury, Russ Plowman, Christina Reid, and Kristin Bingham as much as I do. Episode 1 with Kyle Tengler (Mesquite Trees, Native Peoples, and Not Eating Your Friends) will be out on Tuesday, November 5. Episodes will drop the first and third Tuesday of every month.

Thanks so much for listening! I posted a quick overview of propagating and arranging succulents for your eyeballs to look at on our Facebook page. Watch it HERE. Let me know what kind of additional content you'd like to see and I'll work on getting it made and out to you. I appreciate you all and can't wait to go on this science-y journey with you!
