Artist Bio -
Pippa Fleming was born a civil rights baby on the south side of Chicago, Illinois in 1963. At age six, she declared herself an actress after seeing Yul Brynner in “The king and I” and politely informed her mother, girls clothes no longer suited her.
Pippa’s early creative interests lead her to study theater, photography and television. By the time she graduated from high school, she was an On-Air director and camera operator at WGBY TV in western Massachusetts . After a brief stint in the Army as a Media Specialist, Pippa attended the University Of Massachusetts where she studied African art and history and was awarded a Pearl Primus dance scholarship. Amanda Shea is a renowned spoken word and multidisciplinary artist, educator, mentor, activist, publicist, and mother. She's hosted BAMSFest and countless poetry events; she facilitates youth workshops for spoken word poetry, visual arts, and public speaking; she is a publicist for hip hop artist Brandie Blaze; she has managed and supported countless other artists in Boston. In 2021, she was named among WBUR The ARTery's 25 artists of color transforming the cultural landscape.

Christa Brown Is a Black, queer storyteller, actor, and public speaker with a passion for bringing stories to life that have often been under-explored. She’s the recipient of the 2022 New England Foundation for the Arts’ Newell Flather Award for Leadership in Public Art, and named as one of WBUR’s The Makers, a cohort of 15 emerging artists of color making an impact in Greater Boston. Brown founded the Free Soil Arts Collective in 2019 as a means to bridge the gap for opportunities for artists of color in the Merrimack Valley and beyond. Christa holds a BFA in Theater with a concentration in Performance from Longwood University and a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from Institute for Nonprofit Practice.

Shola Gbemi is a Queens, New York native of Nigerian descent. His articles on popular culture have appeared in Blavity and 21Ninety. He has also been featured on Pix11 and CBS for partnering with nonprofit organizations and government agencies to activate public spaces in New York City neighborhoods of color. His debut novel, They Were Chosen, began as a screenplay he imagined while studying at SUNY Binghamton. When Shola’s not writing, he’s using his platform, Vision Speaks, to promote purpose driven living.

Zakiyyah is an artist-activist who utilizes music and visual media to explore themes that centralize marginalized communities via her production company, Black and Bold Productions. As an actress and classically-trained singer who is well-versed in Opera, Hip-Hop, Jazz, and R&B, she employs her extremely versatile skill-set to reach a broad range of audiences and craft a sound that is uniquely her own--including her most well-known, "Hip-Hopera". She’s had the pleasure of bringing these sounds to numerous audiences from the House of Blues to more recently, the United Nations.

Artist Bio -
Boston native Cliff Notez is an award-winning, multi–digital media artist, musician, entrepreneur, and filmmaker. His art is a continuous exploration of the black mind.
He graduated from Wheaton College with a dual degree in music (voice concentration) and psychology in 2013. He then graduated from Northeastern University in 2016 with a master's degree in digital media. While attending graduate school in 2015, he simultaneously took a position at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston as the teen new media programs associate. As an educator and administrator for digital media programs and events, he began his own digital media company, HipStory.
Rooted in hip-hop, his art tackles the political and the personal, exploring the intimate consequences of a society where black bodies are easily ignored, forgotten, or disregarded. His second full-length album, Why the Wild Things Are, was released September 11, 2019. His films have been official selections for 20+ film festivals globally, winning five of them. In 2017, he was the grand prize winner of the March on Washington Festival and honored alongside Ta-Nehisi Coates. In 2018, he took home the Best New Artist award at the Boston Music Awards, while racking up over 11 nominations between 2019 and 2020, including Artist of the Year and Live Artist of the Year. In 2019, he became the first musician to be named Musician of the Year for Boston Magazine's Best of Boston.
