Swedish Pop... Period!
In this episode of Pop Music For Smart People we travel across the pond to a pop music mecca known as Sweden. Ever since Abba rose to global super stardom Sweden has been a breeding ground for pop music production and artists. Over the years Sweden has produced many world renowned artists, producers and DJs including Robyn, Eagle Eye Cherry, Avicii, Miike Snow, Zara Larsson and Alesso just to name a few. This week I am featuring four Swedish artists that I can't get enough of recently! They are Miss Li, Tove Styrke and The House of Albatroz made up of the brother and sister duo, Little Sis Nora and Aronchupa. All of these artists are making their mark on pop music in very unique ways so lets listen to some music and find out why Swedish pop stands on it's own, including songs such as Complicated (Miss Li), Sway (Tove Styrke) and FUN (Little Sis Nora and Aronchupa). If you like the show and would like to show us some love and support please go buy me a virtual slice of pizza on buymeacoffee.com/PMFSP. Why A Rainbow??
This is the last episode in the Pop Music For Smart People Pride series and today I am featuring broox, Lynks and Jordy. The name of the episode is Why A Rainbow because of the diverse group of people that fall under the queer umbrella and this has been highlighted through the many different and diverse artists I have featured this month. The word of the day is representation because I feel it is very important for everyone to see themselves represented in all things but especially music and entertainment. I discuss some of my favorite songs by broox, Lynks and Jordy. I also talk about The Rainbow Railroad which is an organization that helps persecuted LGBTQ+ people relocate to areas where they can be themselves. If you can please go donate to this amazing organization for gay pride month. Also if you enjoy the show please show us some support by buying us a virtual slice of pizza or signing up for one of our support membership levels on buymeacoffee.com/PMFSP. A portion of the sales from either of these this month will go to one of the featured LGBTQ+ non profits. The show also has two different Pop Music For Smart People pride T shirts which you can get at the merch store. $5 of every shirt sold will go to one of the featured LGBTQ+ non profits. Happy Pride everyone!!!

My mom also talks about the glamping resort her and my father are opening in July of this year called The Destination in Dadesville, Alabama. Oh and we may mention Celine Dion's name like once or twice or 100 times. Make sure to go and follow Pop Music For Smart People on all of our social pages including Instagram, Spotify and Facebook.

Babe Can You Turn That Down Please??
In this episode I feature two groups who my husband is always asking me to turn down the volume on because I have to listen to their music very loudly. They are ASL and Haiku Hands. ASL is a group comprised of six pop music songwriters and producers who accidentally formed the pop group during a songwriting session. Haiku Hands is a trio of three Australian ladies who combine pop music, dance and visual content to create truly unique and catchy pop anthems. You are gonna want to turn this episode all the way up because these songs are guaranteed to have you up and dancing!! I also talk about Exit/In a venue I have featured on the show before in Nashville, TN because there is a chance they will be shut down. If you can donate to their GoFundMe to keep them open that would be amazing as they are a staple in the live music scene in Nashville. Also the show has fun merch and I am creating new designs every week so go get you some and show of your love of Pop Music For Smart People. Down The Rabbit Hole
In this episode I have on one of my best friends and the white rabbit herself Jessie Epling. We discuss her magical home called Club Tuckahoe and talk about musical rabbit holes and the impacts they have on our lives. In this episode we discuss two three DJs who are bending the traditional rules of house and EDM and taking us to far away lands with their fantastical tracks. DJ team Polo and Pan hail from France and mix nasty beats with childlike whimsy to create a unique sound. Mindchatter is a singer/producer/songwriter who creates all his music from vocals to beats and is making smart sexy house bangers. We also say goodbye to the Icon Sophie who was taken from the musical and physical world too soon. I also tell ya about the Vic Theater in Chicago, IL.
