Matias opens up about the past and future impacts of his journey from Brooklyn to the southern tip of Argentina. Because of the images he captured along the way, he was able to tell his story in his own way in his book, Two Wheels South. His mechanical preparation for the trip and love of BMWs is what’s sending him on a new path towards customizing bikes for similar adventures. Matias even shares a few secrets for you eager mechanics in the making.

Brooklyn Speed, a new garage in LIC, is being built from the ground up by shop owner, Cagri, and the garage’s founding members. This community of builders, technicians, and riders are welcoming those who want to build their dream motorcycles and only have a few rules one of which, and a personal favorite of mine, inspired the name of our episode. In addition to garage memberships, Brooklyn Speed offers one-off fabrication and customization services including complete vintage restorations.

Emily, manager of Patent Coffee in New York, tells us about her unique transition from social work to coffee. The world of speciality coffee is supported by people who care deeply for the process that beans go through to get from where they’re grown to what ends up in your morning brew. There is a lot of labor and love that goes into that $4 cup we enjoy daily. This episode is complete with tangents about fast casual restaurants, a recipe for Emily’s Cappuccino, and a story about a chance encounter in an Uber that convinced her to finally get her motorcycle license.

Lorenzo, Cammi, and Cru are the brains behind Lucifers Pride. The story about how Lucifers Pride came to be and what it represents ("bad as hell with a touch of elegance") was the original focus of this episode. Naturally, it took on a life of it's own when the real story, a love story, between friends and old sweethearts took center stage. Guest appearance by Adam who owns Dirty Billy's Garage.

Will founded Dapper Tours. We explore his love of history which inspired his business that provides tourists with a unique view of the city. Why travel on a bus when you can have a personal guide zip you around on a beautiful Ural sidecar. Moto Filmaker JP tells an interesting story about how a chance encounter with a friend led him to start a film company expecting to debut its' first film at the Toronto Film Festival this September.

Hagai and Marie operate Moto Spirits. Marie caught me by surprise with her unique history (teen pilot to sommelier to book publisher) and Hagai shares his stories of traveling across multiple countries on his bike. Both journeys led these two to become great friends who now own a rice whiskey distillery at the border of Williamsburg and Bushwick.

Leslie Padoll is the owner of Breaking Hearts and Burning Rubber. Some of you already know the story of this super woman of a person who supports a niche market: women's riding boots. It can be difficult to find boots that are not only protective but fashionable. Leslie tells us how she came up with her own solution and what led her to that point.
