The Breakthrough: Back to the Light Post-Divorce with Lee Knaz

The Breakthrough: Back to the Light Post-Divorce with Lee Knaz

Join us for a rich conversation with Self-Leadership Mentor, Coach, and stellar human, Lee Knaz. He is a dear friend, a member of the Lovolution Movement community, and an advocate for self-love as the foundation for connecting more deeply with other people. Lee has such alignment with our values, and he invited our host and Co-founder Rachel to join him in creating a container for folks going through divorce a few months back. Since then, Lee and Rachel have hosted a number of open calls to support folks in finding their way back to love on this most difficult of journeys. Having both been through our respective divorces, we are passionate about leveraging difficult breakups as an opportunity to expand, grow, and step into who we truly are.

We are passionate about shifting the societal view that a breakup is a bad thing. Let's shine the light instead on the courage it takes to leave a relationship that is familiar, to accept that sometimes relationships come to a natural end, and shift from shame to love, confidence, and openness to the gift of an aligned life.

The Breakthrough is a series of open calls we are hosting for anyone who's gone or is going through a challenging breakup. No one needs to go through this alone, and we are building a community of support, care, and growth to help folks come back to love with others who have been there.

Join the Breakthrough, Tuesdays at 4pm Pacific time.

Special Edition Episode with Karen McCullough: Energy Healing for Professional Practice

Special Edition Episode with Karen McCullough: Energy Healing for Professional Practice

It's been a minute since the Season Finale of Episode 2: You are Creative with Marissa Schiesser. Welcome back, and thank you for tuning in!

I like to think of this special edition episode with Karen as a bridge between Season 2 and Season 3 of the Podgecast.

A little about Energy Healing for Professional Practice:

If you have taken a weekend Reiki class and have no other experience working with clients, jumping into a professional practice where you are taking on clients and charging money isn’t safe or ethical. It’s not safe for the client and it’s not safe for you. The reason it’s unsafe has nothing to do with esoterism.

Energy healing, like any other healing modality, requires practice and it requires education and it requires a safe space. A safe space is held by a practitioner who is grounded in their practice and has knowledge and resources to support them.

We LOVE that you want to practice. We LOVE that you want to work with clients. And, we believe that energy healing is serious business and that to be effective, professional practitioners, we need effective, professional training.

We have created an 8-10 month practicum program to support you in this journey. The program will include in-person, supervised practicum work held at Pacifica Treatment Centre and in conjunction with Watari Counselling and Support Services.

The program will cover:

  • A variety of energy therapies (qi gong, meridian therapy, chakra therapy, hara healing, polarity balancing)
  • Therapeutic Dialogue (taught by a Registered Clinical Counsellor)
  • Energetic Anatomy
  • Basic Physiology
  • Energetic Defense Patterns (based on the work of Wilhelm Reich)
  • Some somatic processing work
  • Practitioner self-care (shadow work, inner child work and basic energy hygiene practices)
  • Setting up a practice

Karen and I hope you enjoyed this episode, and we ask that you share it with anyone in the world of energy healing in Vancouver. If you or anyone you know would like to learn more & receive information or get in touch with Karen and her business and energy-healing partner Fred, here are their details:

As for Season 3 and the Future of the Podgecast:

Some of you have asked me when the new season will begin. I'm very excited about some upcoming changes, and I'll be announcing these late to mid-October. The long and short of this: the Podgecast WILL continue and it will be evolving. Stay tuned for updates!

Season 2 Episode 9: Thank You For the Music with Kevan Schell from Tobacco Brown

Season 2 Episode 9: Thank You For the Music with Kevan Schell from Tobacco Brown

Tobacco Brown is the moniker of the multifaceted singer-songwriter Kevan Schell. The Vancouver based artist’s work is warm yet elusive, stirring up a spectacular array of emotions. Kevan explores the deep waters of his mind while executing his vision through guitar explosions and dark harmonies. He manages to layer genre upon genre while remaining refreshingly distinctive. Drawing from influences such as Tom Waits, John Lee Hooker and Weird Al; there is no one quite like him.

Kevan released his self-titled debut EP under “Tobacco Brown” in 2016.  It is an instantly addictive record packed with mesmerizing melodies and instrumental victories.

Mid-Season Interruption

Mid-Season Interruption

Dear Podgecast Audience and Guests,

I made a rookie mistake, which is great because I'm a rookie and I'm learning. I recorded some fantastic content for Episode 6 while I was cat-sitting and alas, I was in an area with an echo. I need to re-record most of the episode, so I've taken the opportunity to share a little about my vision for the Podgecast and a little more about me, as some friends and listeners were asking.

Please note that when I speak of humans being supported, I'm speaking from a place of faith and what I believe to be true: that we are supported by the Universe. Sometimes as humans, we aren't supported and society can be very cruel, especially when we get caught up in group (mob) mentality. And when this happens, can we be kind to ourselves, remembering that one reason we go along with the group is to feel a sense of connection and belonging?

When we go within and truly connect with our hearts, it is possible to regain access to unconditional love for self and others. It's such an important time of year for people to know they are not alone, so for those who can access that care in their hearts, please do.

Have a listen to this brief bonus "episode" and send me some feedback. If we aren't connected on social media, you can reach me @the_podgecast or @rachelhayek_ on Instagram, or you can email me directly connect@rachelhayek.com.

BIG love,

Rachel xoxo

Episode 9: Coffee and Tarot with Natalie Salvino

Episode 9: Coffee and Tarot with Natalie Salvino

Natalie Salvino has been reading cards for approximately 33 years. In this episode, I join her for morning coffee at her magical home in the forest outside of Salmon Arm, BC. She teaches others how to read and some of her clients have been coming to her for many years. You know a reader is good when people return to them for more readings!

She is one of my dearest friends, a person I consider a soul sister, and I have learned so much about Tarot from her in the past 20 or so years. Natalie is both logical and creative, with a quirky sense of humour. She's an artist who paints, makes jewelry, blends herbs, and she even knows how to make drums. Natalies is also an incredible gardener and she once grew a garden shaped like a star in the backyard of her former apartment on Commercial Drive in Vancouver.

In this episode, Natalie shares a little of her own story, and some information about how to interpret Tarot. She also shares with us the "Clair senses." We forgot to mention a couple of them, so to "clairify," here's a list:

  • Clairsentience - feeling, sensing
  • Clairvoyance - seeing
  • Clairaudience - hearing
  • Clairalience - smelling
  • Clairgustance - tasting
  • Claircognizance - knowing

Tarot Basics:

Major Arcana - 22 cards 0-21

Minor Arcana 56 cards, 4 suits and 4 heads of state - based on a deck of cards:

  • cups - water, emotion (hearts)
  • wands/rods - fire, action (clubs)
  • pentacles - earth, money, 3D, material (diamonds)
  • swords - air, the mind (spades)

trust your intuition and notice the symbols that stand out to you: astrology, numerology, colours, archetypes

Episode 6: Fred and Karen from the Westcoast Reiki Centre on reiki, healing, and the importance of connecting over values

Episode 6: Fred and Karen from the Westcoast Reiki Centre on reiki, healing, and the importance of connecting over values

In this episode, I have the incredible opportunity to interview the dynamic, vibrant, beautiful duo who run the Westcoast Reiki Centre, where I have completed a number of trainings. Fred and Karen are my dear teachers and they mean the world to me.
The Westcoast Reiki Centre is co-owned by Frédérique Morel and Karen McCullough. The “Centre” was founded in 2006. It’s goal is to bridge traditional, esoteric energetic concepts with the modern world we live in.
Frédérique began her study of the human energetic system, meditation and Reiki in 2012. Her teacher was a martial arts specialist, physical trainer, an osteopath and a Reiki teacher. She has continued her education through professional development courses at Omega Institute in New York State and with Frans Stiene, an internationally recognized teacher located in the Netherlands. She uses her skills to work with those who suffer from anxiety and has been teaching Reiki and meditation since 2015.
Karen is a graduate from Langara College’s three year Integrative Energy Healing program. She has studied anatomy both from a physical, “scientific” perspective and an energetic perspective. She is trained in Reiki, chi gong, polarity therapy, somatic awareness, and trauma care. Her belief is that the more we gain awareness of our energetic and emotional beings, the more confidently we can move through the world. She works with those who suffer from anxiety, PTSD, depression, and self-esteem issues and has been teaching Reiki and advanced energy healing since 2010.
In this uplifting interview, we talk about reiki, energy, healing, values, the precepts, and fun.

The Podgecast Episode 5: Flora Yang on writing a book, travel, and personal discovery

The Podgecast Episode 5: Flora Yang on writing a book, travel, and personal discovery

In Episode 5, I have the pleasure of speaking with Flora Yang. Flora refers to herself as a "life-experiencer." Flora shares with us her experiences of living in multiple cities, leading from the heart, her own personal journey, and the process of writing her book, "Unanswered," which will be published this summer.

Flora is currently working as a business consultant, with deep interest in self-discovery, self-awareness, and personal growth. She has travelled and worked in multiple cities and industries. She is intensely curious about herself, others, and various cultures, and how they all interact in the world.

"Unanswered" is her first English book. She is compelled to write because this is how she meditates, how she processes her thoughts and her experiences, and how she connects with them. In her book, she shares her thoughts, experiences, and what she has learned in hopes that it may resonate with readers and comfort or inspire them.

She is a naturally vibrant person, energized by meeting and learning about people. She loves dancing and the feeling and energy it brings to her. She appreciates beauty in many forms from vivid sunsets, seeing blossoms and flowers in spring, to vintage clothing and jewelry, and lovingly designed and crafted objects. She relaxes by learning about good food of all styles and cooking and sharing it with good friends and good conversation.

The Podgecast Episode 2: Pearl Cicci on Entrenpreneurship, Wellness, and Finding Meaning in our Work

The Podgecast Episode 2: Pearl Cicci on Entrenpreneurship, Wellness, and Finding Meaning in our Work

In Episode 2, I have an inspiring and uplifting conversation with Vancouver-based entrepreneur, Pearl Cicci. I met her at a virtual networking event about 6 months ago and we had an instant connection. Tune in to learn how Pearl found ways to weave her passions into her dream business, while having fun and helping others! Pearl shares how she was born into a family who eats healthy and she learned in elementary school that others didn't understand the importance of nutrition. This is part of what fuels her desire to help others. She also shares how a devastating loss gave her insight into how much she wants to live life fully every day, and that she wants to help others find joy in their lives too. We wrap by talking about her dance fitness classes.

Pearl is a plant based nutritionist, health coach and personal trainer with a passion for educating people about taking care of their bodies. Her goal is to make it easy and simple to achieve optimal health. Taking a very holistic approach, Pearl is focused on the overall well being of a person. Working with women entrepreneurs to make them feel good, increase their energy levels and optimize their health, through plant based approaches and movement. Thus allowing them to show up better for their businesses and other areas of life. She believes that with proper information and guidance, everyone can feel and look their best!
