Happy Podcasting Podcasters! I hope your show is doing well and your enjoying your podcast journey. Today I share a brand new website that I have built by using the podcast page platform.  https://podtasticaudio.com/

If you would like to build your own custom podcast website you can at https://podcastpage.io/

I was asked to co host a Twitter Spaces event all about podcasting. On this session we had "callers" ask questions or comments about their podcasts. Here I handed out advice and shared my thoughts live. It was really fun and I might host more of these in the future. Pixie at https://twitter.com/NextOnStageOne is an expert on Twitter Spaces as she hosts them all the time.

Also on this episode I officially announce my Podcast Coaching with Chris. Where we will have personal one on one coaching session via zoom where I can help you out with your podcast. Zoom so we can screen share in real time to come up with a strategy to take your podcast to the next level. If your ready to level your show, then I'm here to help. Ep. 74: First time with the RODECASTER Pro 2 - AudioGrams for your Podcast and how they help.

Hello Podcasters! I hope your having a wonderful time creating your show.  Today is the first time I'm using my brand new RODECASTER Pro 2 with this podcast.  I just purchased the machine last week and I've been playing with all the features to find the best way to use the device for my different shows. On this episode I show you a few samples of what it can do. This episode was recorded entirely on the RODECASTER Pro 2

AudioGrams for your Podcast and do they actually work? An audiogram is a short video usually of a solid image with an audio clip of your podcast episode. I love using them, but some do not. The conversion rate from audiogram listener to actual Podcast subscriber might be slim. It's much easier to press play on a short post on social media than an entire podcast episode.

Ep. 73: 4 Million Podcasts and... You! - Using Sound FX on your Show, how much is to much?

Happy Podcasting! If you have a podcast, congrats! You're doing better than most people who do not have the courage to start just one episode yet. On today's show I show you that there are 4 million different podcast shows listed in the universe. But only a small percentage of them are still creating content. Most have died off due to a lot of different reasons. The article is from Amplifi. And they discuss the fact that although 4 million podcasts sounds large, only a small number of them are still in production.

Sound FX for your show! Do you spend hours and hours editing your podcast with sound effects? I have a folder of sounds and clips I've collected over the few years. On this episode I play some of theme live in real time. Using Cleanfeed Pro account. It creates a multifuncional sound effects "clips" section for your recordings. Just record and press play on the sounds you want. Save and your done.

Ep. 72: Revisiting the First Episode, 3 Years Ago - QR Codes for Podcast Promotion

Ep. 72: Revisiting the First Episode, 3 Years Ago - QR Codes for Podcast Promotion

How is your Podcast doing? Do you even have a Podcast? Well not to worry. It all starts with you trying something you've never tried before. On the Kris and Kristine Show back 3 years ago we tried podcasting. With an old HP computer and a few cheap $20 microphones we gave it a shot. After trial and error we found what works best for us. A few upgrades and a few years of confidence later here we are. On this show I play you a sample from our first episode we recorded for The Kris and Kristine Show.

If you are looking for an easy quick way to promote you podcast. Try creating a QR code. QR code (quick response code)
QR code (an initialism for quick response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) invented in 1994 by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that can contain information about the item to which it is attached. In practice, QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application. QR codes use four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently; extensions may also be used
The Quick Response system became popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing.
A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera, and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. The required data is then extracted from patterns that are present in both horizontal and vertical components of the image.

Ep. 71: Podcast Editing with Studio Sound from Descript - Price Drop on the Zoom Podtrak P4

Ep. 71: Podcast Editing with Studio Sound from Descript - Price Drop on the Zoom Podtrak P4

Happy Podcasting! We either hate editing our shows, or we love it. Either way you slice it, it can be time consuming. Maybe you have lots of extra time and you can afford to spend hours doing some podcast editing. Maybe you're like me and you have very limited time to edit a podcast. But you still want to put out a solid sounding show. We pay for things with either time or money. If you would like to automate your podcast editing process, you can try out Descript. https://www.descript.com/ It's an all in one editing solution for either an audio, or video podcast. It will take out any filler words, plus fill in the gaps. Also it has something called "Studio Sound" where it fixes your bad audio for your. On this episode I will play 2 sample tracks from an interview guest. One track was original, the next was run with studio sound at 100% setting. The audio difference is noticeable enough to make me think twice about canceling my subscription to Descript.

One fantastic all in one podcasting toy that we all need to have is the Zoom Podtrak P4. And now is the perfect time to pick one up because they just shaved $70 off the retail price. Bringing it down to only $150 USD with free shipping. If you need a simple interface for your podcast, or a way to record multiple co hosts easily together, then the Podtrak P4 is for you. https://zoomcorp.com/en/us/podtrak-recorders/podcast-recorders/podtrak-p4/

Happy Podcasting! I hope your show is doing fantastic. On this episode I tell you how did some minor updates to the Kris and Kristine Show website. Which you can find at Kris and Kristine Show

This week we all found out that Cleanfeed has won an Emmy for their achievement in film and tv production. Huge congrats to Mark and Marc of the Cleanfeed. Wow, this is so awesome! Cleanfeed Blog. So today I decided to flashback to the interview I had with both of them on this show. This interview was recorded in May of 2021. It is my most popular episode for good reason. But if you missed it, no worry because I'm replaying it here. How deserving is this, to win an Emmy! Wow

Ep. 67: Habits that annoy listeners! - What makes us press play on a podcast episode?

Ep. 67: Habits that annoy listeners! - What makes us press play on a podcast episode?

I'm back from vacation. We took the entire family to Florida to check out Miami and Disney World. It was our big summer vacation that we've been doing the last 3 years. It was so much fun, and hot. The kids haven't ever been and I've only been once as a kid. We all had a fantastic time. Link to the Vacation Video -  https://youtu.be/sMLJcvVruzs  As we returned Kristine and the kids all caught Covid 19. I tested negative out of the group, which is strange because we are all together. But as I recorded this today I feel fine.

I came across an article that has 7 Podcaster Habits that really annoy your audience. And we are all guilty of doing these things, which makes it ironic. https://wavve.co/7-podcaster-habits-that-really-annoy-their-listeners/

What makes a new listener press play on a podcast episode? Well it turns out it's mostly because of the content of the show. Above all else, they come for the content. If you can deliver great content and great sound, then you should be able to get more listeners coming back to your show. It's not easy, but try to make the best show you can.

Ep. 65: The illusion of Audio for your podcast and why it works.

Ep. 65: The illusion of Audio for your podcast and why it works.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Here on Podtastic Audio I'm here to help you out with your podcast to create decent audio for your show without spending lots and lots of money on gear and stuff you don't even need. The power of good audio can create an illusion to the listener that transports them into another space. The audience doesn't need to know all the details of your podcast gear. As long as it sounds good to theml, they will keep on coming back time and time again.

In this episode I reference the car culture community. And how you can use performance parts to add more power to your car to make it go much faster. And these parts usually come with decals to place on the side of your ride. To show the world, you have this part, and your car is fast. But some people just put the stickers on the car, without the upgraded parts. To make their car appear its fast. In the car culture, aftermarket performance accessories, all are to gain more horsepower. Whether it’s adding a new exhaust system, turbo, or supercharger. They all add more power to the vehicle. One of the oldest myths about car people is they believe anything can add more power to the car. Including placing performance stickers. As the saying goes. Each sticker can add up to 5 horsepower to your car. How is that even possible? In reality it doesn’t add any kind of performance.

Or does it? By adding a performance decal to your ride might give other cars the illusion that your fast. So then you must be fast.

If you make your show sound good. And make it sound bigger than it really is. Nobody is going to know any difference. The power of audio and theater of the mind. You can be as big as your imagination.

Make your Podcast sound as big as you need it to be. The audience will keep coming back. If you have a podcast and you would like to have me review it, let me know on social media under Podtastic Audio or email me podtasticaudio@gmail.com

Ep. 59: Drinking while Podcasting - Trip to London to chat with Linden Cole of The Icarus Complex Podcast

Thank You so much for listening this week. I hope I can give you some advice on how to create the best sounding show you can make. Today as it's Cinco de Mayo as I record this. It's typically a day for drinking. So there are a lot of different podcast shows, and some are drinking shows. I would not recommend drinking while you podcast and I explain why. If your dealing with recorded audio, nobody sounds good drunk.

Late I'm joined by Linden Cole, via Cleanfeed. No I didn't take a trip to London, and Linden didn't take a trip to San Diego. But we make the audio so good, that it sounds like we are in the same room. Linden is an author and host of the podcast The Icarus Complex Podcast. It's a bunch of short stories that Linden has written and narrated for an audio book. But put into a podcast form. He puts a lot of work into each episode even down to the year of the background music to set each scene.  https://linktr.ee/Icaruscomplexpodcast

Ep 58: Who is really listening? - Harness your Creativity - Podcast on a Pedestal

Ep 58: Who is really listening? - Harness your Creativity - Podcast on a Pedestal

Thank You for listening. I made a few changes to Podtastic Audio. I created an all new logo for the show. As it turned out, my old show artwork was under specifications requirements. And I didnt like how the name blurred into the design. I wanted it to be prominent and noticeable. So I went into Canva on my computer rather than creating it on the phone. Tip - don't make your show artwork on your phone. It might look upscale because of the smaller screen, but its not. www.canva.com/
I share a quick story about that time I was on the radio station for my college. I had to give away prizes and I thought nobody was actually listening to me, then in walks somebody.

Do you put your Podcast on a Pedestal? Is it harming your mental health? If so, you need to stop podcasting. Take a break and focus on the important things in life. Podcating can be fun and I put fun as the focus of all my shows. If your not having any fun, then your doing it wrong. Especially for a "hobby" podcast.

Ep. 57: Podcast Interviews - Who benefits more, the GUEST or the HOST?

Today we talk about Podcast Interviews and who gets to benefit from them. I can remember my first podcast interview we did on the Kris and Kristine Show. It was episode 23. https://soundcloud.com/krisandkristineshow/episode-23-dating-disney?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

We had booked this author months in advance. She was selling a book about relationships and dating. We were talking about those topics on our show, so it was a perfect fit. We did so much research about the guest, way more than we do today. And we were a bit over prepared, but it was our first interview. So then who actually benefited from the interview... the guest or us as hosts? The answer is actually, both. We both benefit in our own ways. We got a guest to for good content, she got a new audience to promote to.

Ep. 56: A simple mistake while using the Zoom Podtrak P4 and using Show Notes for your podcast.

Happy Easter weekend. I've been on vacation all week long. And we've had a full house of kids as they are also off for spring break. During the week we had a guest interview scheduled and I didnt have access to our regular studio room. So I took my MacBook Pro and my Zoom Podtrak P4 up into our bedroom to record the interview that way. Using Cleanfeed like we've used hundreds of times in the past, the audio didn't sound right. After looking over the settings on Cleanfeed and the computer, I switched to the Full Repair mode and that seemed to fix the problem. But the true problem was that I had not switched the Zoom Podtrak P4 to the Mix Minus mode. A very simple mistake that I had overlooked because I had not used Cleanfeed with the Zoom P4 before. This was my first time using it. Live and Learn.

Ep. 55: Your Podcast Listeners do not enjoy Ads. So why do we do have them?

Ep. 55: Your Podcast Listeners do not enjoy Ads. So why do we do have them?

Happy Friday as I record this episode. I will be starting my vacation this week for spring break. This will be one of 4 weeks I'll be taking off this year for my vacations.

Podcasting can be a lot of fun. Although it does take a lot of hard work and effort to create a podcast. We all would like to make some money with our show. It would be fantastic if we could quit our day jobs and just focus on creating podcasts for a living. Only a few shows actually are at that level, and chances are you are not one of them. Don't worry, there are a few ways to make money with your show. You can sell something on your show. Or you can use podcast advertising. Which I feel is not the best way to make money with your podcast.  If you find a sponsor for your podcast to run an add spot. They want to know your downloads. The term CPM is based on cost for every 1000 downloads or plays. The average rate is $15-20. So if your lucky enough to get 1000 plays on a single episode in a 30 day span you make $20 tops. Wow $20. If you're worried about that $20, you have bigger problems than your podcast.

Thank you so much for listening I really appreciate it. If you would like to be a guest here on Podtastic Audio you can always shoot me a message on social media or email. I would love to have you on the show. Or if you would want to have me on your show as a guest, that will work too.

Ep. 54: Podbean Ad Contest - 5 Star Review Swaps are the same as Cheating!

Thank you so much for listening today, I really appreciate it. On this Episode I tell you about a new contest hosted by Podbean.  Podbean is excited to announce their “Start Advertising On Podcasts” contest for 2022! Grand Prize is $2000! I entered and I play my sample of the ad that I created for the contest. Wish me luck!

https://blog.podbean.com/podbean-launches-start-advertising-on-podcasts-contest-2022/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=tweet&utm_campaign=AdContest2022

Then I share another story of how a popular podcast is asking for 5 star review swaps. I don't usually do review swaps anyhow because I feel it reads false. Its like cheating, and I do not tolerate cheaters. You would much rather have honest feedback from your podcast. Not a bunch of fake 5 star reviews. Which for the record do nobody any good. If you have a bad show, you would want to know about it so you can improve. Take the honest feedback as a blessing not a curse.

Ep. 53: Use Cleanfeed for any Guest and still get great audio.

Power of Audio

Best sound from the guests. On K2 show we have had a variety of guests on the show. Each of them sound really good compared to other interview shows. How is that possible?

We own 2 air jets that we send out all over the world to pick up the guests. We bring them all to the studio In person. How else do you think we get great audio from everyone and it sounds like we are all in the same room.

No we don’t but the audio is that good that it’s possible you could believe that. The power of audio only. If we had a zoom video or someone like that it would remove the illusion. Theater of the mind.

Ep. 52: Monitoring your Microphone live and my guest Christian Eulinberg from FILM OPTIX podcast.

Ep. 52: Monitoring your Microphone live and my guest Christian Eulinberg from FILM OPTIX podcast.

Many new podcasters have a problem with creating decent audio for their podcast. One easy ways to fix a problem before it gets worse is to Monitor your own microphone live in real time. I know not all setups can work with live monitoring with 0 latency. But if yours does, I would highly recommend that you listen back to your microphone live in real time. The reason is that you can catch any audio issues live as they happen so you can make adjustments at that point. Not at the very end and you heard that your microphone had a bad echo or something. Get the cleanest audio you can at the time of recording. This will save you time on editing in the end.

Today I'm joined by Christian Eulinberg from the podcast Film Optix. Along with his cohosts they like to discuss movies and TV shows. He has been podcasting for about 3 years and has had some trail and error like most of us have had. We talk about how to record, best software, and what seems to work out the best for your own podcast.

Ep. 51: VIP guest with bad audio - Get to know your podcasting gear

Happy Friday as I record this. Thanks for letting me help out your podcast. Podcasting can be very frustrating especially when you have equipment problems. Whether its a guest with bad audio, or your microphone stops working. Problems can happen. But we have to learn our gear inside and out. Your hardware and software that you use to podcast. Practice with it before you go live, with the show or a VIP guest. What do you do if you have a guest on with bad audio.. do you post it or not? Its your show, so you can decide what to do with the episode. Always remember who this show is for... the audience.

Ep. 50: Why do you Podcast? - Beta Reader & Author Tiffany Christina Lewis

Ep. 50: Why do you Podcast? - Beta Reader & Author Tiffany Christina Lewis

Welcome to Episode 50! As it its the the 50th, I thought I'd share my reason why I started this podcast. My "why" is because I wanted to help out new podcasters figure out how to make decent audio with basic gear and equipment. We all have our reason for podcasting. Your audience has their reason for listening to you show. Everything starts with your Why. "Why do we podcast?"

Then I'm joined by Beta Reader & Author Tiffany Christina Lewis. Tiffany has been writing since her adolescence and was honored to have work published for the first time in 2011. Since then her work has been featured in many books and online publications. From fiction to non-fiction, murder to relationships, Tiffany’s range as a writer is expansive. Crazy about killing, Tiffany’s favorite genre to write is Crime Fiction.

With three books to her credit, Tiffany writes for readers. “It is my job to satisfy readers. Everything they say about my work is invaluable. I use it to make myself and my writing better.”

“My style is a little Patterson and a little King. I love short chapters and grossing people out but the Detectives win at the end of the day. There is lots of gore when I can and I try my damndest to give those vivid details that make you grimace!”

Ep. 49: Hook your listeners at the start of each episode. - Jackie & Danielle from the No More Late Fees podcast.

Ep. 49: Hook your listeners at the start of each episode. - Jackie & Danielle from the No More Late Fees podcast.

How do you open your podcast episode? Everyone does it slightly different. For the Kris and Kristine Show, I had figured out how to edit audio in Audacity as in rearranging it around. That gave me an idea about how I should start the podcast episodes. As I was watching a lot of YouTube videos about my current sports car I had just purchased. On their videos they would start them with a teaser clip of something cool that happened with that video to get you hooked. So a quick teaser clip to launch the video you're about the watch. If that works for YouTube, why not bring that concept to podcasting. So on episode 1, I tried that idea. I found a short quick clip of something interesting we said on the show to put a clip of that on the very beginning of the episode to launch the listener into the episode. If you decide to make teaser clips for the start of the episode, make sure they aren't longer than maybe 10 seconds. You just need a to teaser the listener to hook them into finishing the rest of the episode. You create a loop and hook them in to finish said loop.

Then I was joined by Jackie and Danielle of the podcast No More Late Fees. It's a movie review podcast told from two ex employees of Blockbuster Video rentals. We talked about how they met and were they grew up. To the time they worked at Blockbuster. And since they are movie fans, I play my guess the movie clip game. Feel free to play along at home and see how you do too. Fun fact: All 3 of us in this interview were in 3 different states here in America. California - Texas - Florida.

Thanks for listening this week. I'm always here to help out a podcaster who would like to create a better show. Recently in the news Joe Rogan was accused of saying misinformation on his very popular podcast. It didn't go over well with some people and now there is an uproar to get him removed from Spotify. Joe signed a $100M contract to be exclusive on the Spotify app. He put his eggs into one basket a-lot like some other shows will do via YouTube. But if he stayed traditional RSS feed he wouldn't have this problem.

Are you doing an interview show with random people? Who is the show for? Just because you have a podcast, doesn't mean you need to do interviews. Yes they are fun but they increase your network, not your expertise. What does your listener get from an interview only show? I was curious about that this week. The shows that only have random guests on... it must be hard as a listener no knowing what each show is going to be about. Podcasting roulette.

Ep. 46: Cold Weather - Upload Speeds - Content Creator Sebastian Schug

Ep. 46: Cold Weather - Upload Speeds - Content Creator Sebastian Schug

Thanks for listening this week. The bad weather over the last week or so has really hit most of the country. I found a clip of an actual news anchor that was sent to the side of the road to report. As most of us would, he was not having it. Have a listen to his on air meltdown. Then I wanted to share a tip about your Internet Upload speeds verses the download. If you need to do any kind of video calls, or podcast interviews over the web, then you really need good Upload speeds. Check your internet speeds by doing a google search. Your upload speed shouldn't be anything less than 10MB to have a trouble free recording. When you have upload speeds slower than that, you will have audio and video glitches.

Today I'm joined by Sebastian Schug.  An independent multimedia artist currently residing in suburban Burbank, California. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Political Science, and currently spends his time narrating miscellaneous stories (semi-professionally!) Sebastian "Schugzy" Schug is an independent writer, illustrator, and bedroom literary/music publisher currently residing in suburban Burbank, California. Secondary to literary publishing, alternative, R&B, and lo-fi are a primary focus within his music production.

Alongside music production, audiobooks, podcasts, and a plethora of other audio projects assist in paving Sebastian Schug’s verbal showcasings, and can be found on most first, second, and third party distribution networks alongside their literary counterparts.

Ep. 45: Play for Content, stay for Entertainment. Create more than just plain content.

Ep. 45: Play for Content, stay for Entertainment. Create more than just plain content.

I'm back after being out sick with COVID. I tested positive for the virus last week. So I took off 5 days to just rest and relax. I was feeling ok for most of the time I was out. Felt like a bad head cold, not much worse than that.

Today I was thinking about how your podcast content isn't the only reason your podcast is successful. New listeners will click play on your podcast based on your content. The title of the episode, the niche of the topic, or the movie your discussing. Thats great for that one episode or series. But what about the rest of your show? You need to have your audience returning and coming back to your show for each future episode you release. Now more than just content, you need to deliver it in a way that makes it very entertaining. That is decent production value will come into place. The sound quality does matter. A listener will turn off a podcast if it sounds bad. They just will, no matter how rich the content is. They defiantly wont return for the next episode.

Content is how you get them to click play and entertainment is how you get them to stay. Create amazing content that you can deliver in a way thats truly original. Thanks so much for listening today, I really appreciate it. If you have any questions about podcasting, or would like me to be a guest on your show, shoot me a line.   podtasticaudio@gmail.com

Ep. 44: Last version of Levelator for PC - The "Vern" from Cinema Recall Podcast.

Ep. 44: Last version of Levelator for PC - The "Vern" from Cinema Recall Podcast.

Today it was brought to my attention that there is a website that has a copy of Levelator for Windows PC still available to download. As I mentioned in my last episode that I couldn't find a copy from the original website. Said site was no longer available. If you want a copy of The Levelator for Windows PC, then click on the link and grab the latest version to download.

https://www.videohelp.com/software/The-Levelator

The Levelator is a software that runs on Windows and OS X that adjusts the audio levels within your podcast or other audio file for variations from one speaker to the next, for example. It's not a compressor, normalizer or limiter although it contains all three. It's much more than those tools, and it's much simpler to use. The UI is dirt-simple: Drag-and-drop any WAV or AIFF file onto The Leveler's application window, and a few moments later you'll find a new version which just sounds better.

Then I had the "Vern" from Cinema Recall Podcast come on to discuss his podcasting background, some editing, and of course movies. Please play along with guessing the movie clips. https://www.cinemarecall.net/ https://anchor.fm/cinemarecall

Ep. 43: Try out Auphonic as a Levelator alternative for Windows PC.

Ep. 43: Try out Auphonic as a Levelator alternative for Windows PC.

I love using the audio tool Levelator. As it turns out its not available to download on Windows PC. As I did some research the source where the download was originally was invalid. So what is a good alternative. I found Auphonic. https://auphonic.com/ They do charge you to use it, but it does a better job than Levelator did. You can use it for free, at 2 hours a month. I signed up for the free plan to try it and I'll play 2 samples on this episode. The first sample was Levelator, second clip on Auphonic.

Ep. 40: Top 10 reasons podcasts FAIL - Abigail from The Manic Pixie Weirdo Podcast

Happy Holidays as its Christmas Week as this episode comes out. As a lot of podcasts start I wanted to know what causes a show to fail. People will podfade their shows.  I came across an article that breaks down the top 10 reasons why podcasts fail. Hopefully your show is still doing strong and the longer you last, the higher up the charts you will be in the long run.

Then I had Abigail from The Manic Pixie Weirdo Podcast stop on by for a chat. We talk about podcasting, voice acting, and her idea's about creating another podcast.

Ep 39: Video for Podcasting and my guest Jim Collison from Ask the Podcast Coach

I ran a poll on Twitter asking if you use Video as part of your Podcast. The results show that 70% do not. Video isn't easy, especially if you want to do it correctly. Then later I'm joined by Jim Collison from Gallup, Ask the Podcast Coach, and Home Gadget Geeks podcasts. We talk about his shows, what he's learned from his long run in podcasting. And the future of podcasting.

Ep 38: Behringer Audio Interface - Jillian & Michaela from Elevator Talks & Random Thoughts Podcast

This week I share the details about my podcasting gear set. The audio interface that I have been using is the Behringer U-PHORIA UMC404HD. Later I'm joined by the hosts of Elevator Talks & Random Thoughts podcast.  If you're putting together a home studio, the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404 USB 2.0 audio interface is worth a look. With 4 inputs and 4 outputs, the U-Phoria UMC404 is an excellent choice if you're a self-recording musician with a minimum of outboard gear. Add four remarkably pure, world-class MIDAS-designed mic pres and studio-grade 24-bit/192kHz converters to the mix, and you've got yourself a complete studio-in-a-box - right on your desktop. Make no mistake, the Behringer U-Phoria UMC404HD USB 2.0 audio interface is packed with value!  Buy on Sweetwater Jillian and Michaela from the podcast Elevator Talks & Random Thoughts. We talked about movies, Netflix shows, and how their podcasting journey has been.  It was a really fun interview and we all had a great time. Ep. 36: I had a few problems with my MacBook Pro, including a simple audio mistake.

Ep. 36: I had a few problems with my MacBook Pro, including a simple audio mistake.

My very last vacation for the year 2021. Back to work Monday and beyond. I had a problem with my new MacBook Pro computer. I somehow got myself locked out. My password was no longer letting me log in. I had tried it so many times that the security features had locked out my account. I called Apple Care to see what they could do. They said the only way to get your computer to work again is to erase the hard drive and reinstall the operating software and start over like a new MacBook Pro. So that is what I had to do. I lost everything I had on it for the last month I had it.

Earlier in the week I was a special guest on my kids podcast The Jem Boys Show https://www.podpage.com/jem-boys-show/ I had made a podcasting mistake my not doing a proper microphone check. My microphone was on and plugged in, but with the new set up it wasn't being recorded. We found out after I had uploaded the episode and played it back later. Always make sure the microphones you want to use are being recorded correctly.

Ep. 34: Does where you host your podcast make a difference to the listener?

Ep. 34: Does where you host your podcast make a difference to the listener?

Today on Podtastic Audio I discuss the list of podcast hosts available today. The basics of a podcast host, and why someone would choose one over the other. I also share insider information and where we host The Kris and Kristine Show and also Podtastic Audio. Both of our hosts are considered by many experts to be the top 2 worst places to host a show. So why would I use them? I'll explain on this episode.

If you would like to come on as a guest and talk about your podcasting journey. Email me at podtasticaudio@gmail.com and I would love to have you on the show!

Ep. 33: I'm Back! New computer, new house, and a new version of Audacity.

I'm Back! Did you miss me? This is the first episode on the new MacBook Pro computer in the new house. I moved and during the last month we couldn't record any new podcast episodes. Now that I'm back I have a bunch of new things lined up for Podtastic Audio and also The Kris and Kristine Show.

Along with a new computer, today there is a new version of Audacity. (3.1.0) This is my first time using it, so I'll still need to figure it all out. This is my return back to podcasting episode. I missed recording and editing audio. So good to be back and I look forward to creating more episodes in the near future.

Episode 32: Free website for your podcast and I break down interviewing guests.

Episode 32: Free website for your podcast and I break down interviewing guests.

Today as I record this Episode its 9/11. A sad day for America as we were a target of a massive terrorist attack. Where were you when the world stopped turning? Today marks the 20th anniversary of that tragic day.  The Derek Duvall Show

On this Episode I mentioned PodPage. A "free" website for your podcast. I designed one for Podtastic Audio. Please go check it out and let me know what you think. You can also try it out for free for you podcast.  https://www.podpage.com/podtastic-audio/

I will break down the way we conduct our podcast interviews. Having a podcast interview style of a show can make your show fun to talk to new and different people. But most of the podcasts are also doing interview style shows. So try to mix it up a bit. If you would like to be a guest here on Podtastic Audio you can email me at podtasticaudio@gmail.com And we can set something up after I move into the new house. Yes we are moving houses. So if you have ever moved you know the massive amount of stress and coordination it takes. Because of that I will be taking a short break from creating new content on both shows. Until we are moved in and settled into the new house. Thanks for understanding and we cant wait to be back at it creating new Episodes.

Ep. 31: Ranking your podcast using Listen Notes. Can a show be popular with bad audio?

Ep. 31: Ranking your podcast using Listen Notes. Can a show be popular with bad audio?

If you want to see how your show is doing as far as popularity, check out Listen Notes. The best podcast search engine. Think of it as Google for podcasts and podcasters. You can look up your name, your show, your guests. and much more. It will also give your show a ranking based on the top 10% of all podcasts in the world. The rankings only start at top 10% or better, so don't get discouraged if your show is in the other 90%.

Content alone can't save your podcast.  You should have decent sounding audio to go along with it. Try to balance it all out. For the good content, you should have equal audio quality. Decent audio quality will help save your show.

Ep. 30: How I made Ep 100 on The Kris and Kristine Show with 16 guests, music, promos, and ads... all in one take.

On the Kris and Kristine Show we just posted our 100th Episode! We had a lot of moving parts, 16 guests, music, new promos, with ad spots, and we did the episode live in real time. No post production work. The entire show was recorded in one take from start to finish. How was I able to make that possible? No mixers or extra gear required. I'll explain on this episode.
