Episode 16: When A Movie Critic Talks About Poop

In Episode 15 of Poop Problems Podcast we talk to Sean Patric.

He is a film and movie critic who actually really dislikes poop and doesn’t really like talking about poop at all.

Before the interview, Sean shared with us that he had to walk out of two movies due to graphic poop scenes.

The first was Formula 51 with Samuel L Jackson where the bad guys were given an overdose of laxatives and seemed to flood the small room they were confined in.

The second was a movie called College and involved a nasty beer drinking scene.  Sean also told us poop scenes in some other movies that were more tolerable.

In case you want to check them out, the movies are Salo, Hall Pass, and Zach and Miri Make a Porno.

Sean has some really interesting perspectives about why poop is such a taboo topic, including his theory on why very few men want to appear on this Podcast.

Sean is the co-host of the Everyone’s a Critic Movie Review Podcast and can be found online at IHateCritics.net and on Twitter @CriticSean.

Episode 14: Why Is My Poop Sticky Like Peanut Butter?

If you're ever wondered about the consistency of your poop or asked yourself "Why is my poop sticky like peanut butter?" or "Why does my poop look different every day?" then you should definitely listen to this episode.

We talk to Beth Rosen, a non-diet Registered Dietitian who specializes in digestive disorders.

She tells us a lot about the consistency of poop and we learned why we should be having a #4 instead of a #2.

We also figured out that she probably knows one of our other guests who shared a really personal story. Small world, right?

Episode 8: Pizza Time Poop Time

In Part One of today's episode of Poop Problems Podcast, we hear a really funny story from a man who usually follows a vegan diet but decided to eat some cheese pizza. It didn't go well. He had to improvise in the woods and had an additional complication when he had to use lotion tissues instead of toilet paper.

The story is a little hard to hear --I mean, the guy was a little shy telling the story, can you blame him?

However, the story is really funny.

So funny in fact, that our guest expert Dr. Brenda Bradley threatened to sue because it was too difficult to drive and listen to the story at the same time.

You have been warned - listen with caution.

Luckily for us, in part Two of today's episode, Dr. Bradley talked to us about vegan diets and how vegan diets affect our bowel movements.

Dr. Bradley is a health coach who helps people get started with a vegan diet. Listen in to hear more about her 21 Day Challenge.

Episode 2: Cole's Poop Problem

In today's episode we hear from Cole about his Poop Problem. If he gets up by 7:00 AM he poops on time at 9:00 AM. If he gets up late, he probably won't poop for days. What is going on?

Thankfully, Heather and Debi interview Maria Larkin a Registered Dietitian who has a lot of insight and helpful suggestions for Cole.

She tells us about how circadian rhythms, biological rhythms, clock genes and molecular clocks affect our pooping routine. We'll also hear about how coffee, shift work and long days affect our bowel movements.

Show Notes, Links, and Resources:

Maria Larkin would like our listeners to know that she is part of a  team of 4 registered dietitians and nutritionists at Better Gut Better Health and they do both in person and virtual sessions.
The BGBH programs focuses on gut issues which affect various other health conditions. For example, they have Better Gut Better Skin (a clear skin program) and Better Gut Better Metabolism (a weight loss resistance, blood sugar balancing program). BGBH also has one dietitian who specializes in eating disorders.
BGBH also focuses on most gut-related conditions, namely, SIBO small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Celiac Disease and Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivities.
BGBH is able to offer clients a full range of testing as well as provide menu software programs to help our clients ease into eating without feeling overwhelmed.
BGBH's mission is to provide hope to clients and help to balance eating and lifestyle so that it is sustainable and realistic.

Episode 1: Hyperdefecation secondary to Graves Disease

Episode 1: Hyperdefecation secondary to Graves Disease

WELCOME TO ANOTHER EPISODE OF POOP PROBLEMS PODCAST…

…where it is our job to sit down, shut up, and talk sh!t.

We do this because we like to laugh and joke but also because we know that people have actual poop problems and that a lot of poop problems can be made better.

Our episodes frequently involve guests who have had poop problems and also guests who are experts in poop. We talk to these experts and learn all kinds of information about poop so that you can learn and apply this information in your own life.

Lastly, we seek to normalize the human experience of pooping.

Episode 1: Introduction To Poop Problems Podcast and Interview with Daila Kinsey on Hyperdefecation Secondary To Graves Disease

In Episode 1 Heather shares a little bit about the inspiration behind Poop Problems Podcast and interviews Dalia Kinsey, a Registered Dietitian who shares her experience with Hyperdefecation secondary to Graves Disease.

Thankfully, Dalia has a great sense of humor and tells us about a pretty tough situation that involves a time she was visiting her sister in the Dominican Republic and the water was shut off.

We also learn more about Graves Disease, which is a thyroid condition that affects pretty much all aspects of metabolism, including how often a person has to have a bowel movement. Dalia has great advice for anyone who thinks they might have a thyroid condition and for anyone who wants to live well with a chronic health problem.
