Cryptocurrency and Ed, Edd, 'n' Eddy
Anthony explains to Sam what cryptocurrency is all about. Sam attempts to learn about the blockchain using the only frame of reference he knows: pop culture. Would the Eds be trafficking in EddCoin these days (valued only at 25 cents?), who from the cul-de-sac would be all in on crypto, and has Plank been an NFT this whole time?

Fictional Presidents!
Happy Presidents' Day! On our first holiday episode of PopPartisan, Sam and Anthony cobble together a Frankenstein monster of a fictional president with parts borrowed from previous fictional presidents (and one real one!). Come for Sam wax over Josiah Bartlett, loosely define what makes a fictional president great, and stay for Anthony referencing certain presidential anatomy way more than necessary.

Winnie the Pooh Fights Nazis
How would the Hundred Acre Wood fare against the Nazi scourge? Sam takes Anthony (and you, dear listener) on a journey where Winnie the Pooh mauls bad guys, Piglet snipes from the trees, Eeyore is the explosions experts, and more! Some accents land, some don’t, but you be the judge of that! When you’re done, check out how to help your local library (https://www.bustle.com/p/7-ways-you-can-support-your-local-library-47363) and if it’s not a bother, share the show with your friends!
Lord of the Rings and Immigration Restrictions
In the beginning many a podcast was made. Five were given to the pundit class - to discuss the goings on in the world. Three were given to the loreheads to discuss all things canon. But they were both deceived - for another podcast was made. One podcast to rule them all exists. Join Anthony and Sam on a journey through middle earth - with immigration stops! Hear Sam complain about how sad the ending is because he wants happy and sunshine rainbows! Also, donate to Farmworker Justice (farmworkerjustice.org) and don’t forget to rate and subscribe!
Spongebob Squarepants and Ocean Pollution
What if Bikini Bottom becomes engulfed by the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?
Sam takes Anthony on a trip through a manmade catastrophe involving the impact of trash in the ocean, greed, murder, and, of course, full-priced Krabby Patties. After listening to our satirical nonsense (we own none of the characters, we're just fans), consider donating to the Ocean Foundation (http://oceanfdn.org) to support ocean sustainability efforts around the world.
The Matrix and QAnon
In this episode, Sam and Anthony take the red pill and swan-dive into reality altering goop. Do far-right cultists think they’re on the verge of enlightenment? Do QAnon people make better human batteries? Is Newt Gingrich their version of Morpheus? Was everything Ronald Reagan’s fault? This podcast might make you reach for the supercomputer tube in the back of your neck, so please remain in this reality while listening.
Toy Story and Capitalism
You got a friend in me… for a price! Is Andy a fascist? How effective of a leader can you be with little arms? Sam & Anthony welcome Nelson, co-host of the Dixieland of the Proletariat podcast (https://linktr.ee/dixieprole), to help us ruin a childhood treasure. Find out the true origins of capitalism, and join us in examining Buzz, Woody, and many others under the proverbial (and apt metaphor) magnifying glass for a look into how Toy Story teaches us something about capitalism.
Star Wars and the Electoral College
Ah s***, here we go again! Did someone want a sequel to our original Star Wars podcast episode? Much like the sequel trilogy, nobody asked for this, but it still happened. Anthony and Sam discuss abolishing the Galactic Senate, how a "galactoral" college might work, how Mandalore is a lot like Ohio, and how odd it is that the Queen of Naboo is democratically elected. Come for the Star Wars, stay for the Mitch McConnell Sith allegories.
DragonBall Z and World Leaders
Kamehame hail Ceasar? Sam and Anthony (but mostly Anthony) examines Goku, Vegeta, and the other DBZ players' closest real world equivalents, how the Super Saiyans would govern, and whether or not strongman despots are destined to fail. Plus, Anthony gets in touch with his inner despot.
Fairly Oddparents and the Cold War
'I wish I had another PopPartisan episode!' *Poof* Anthony and Sam explore how the premiers and presidents of the USSR and USA (respectively) would've handled their way through the Cold War with a little bit of magic a la Butch Hartman's Fairly OddParents. Hear Sam (acting as Reagan) spill the beans on the gipper's inner dialog. Listen to Anthony rage against the irresponsibility of Timmy Turner and his irresponsible grip on space and time.
Charlie Kelly: Democrat or Republican (or Communist?)
Anthony rips off Sam's idea from last episode to discuss how the events in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" sway Charlie Kelly left and right, much like in Muppet Babies. We ultimately land on what party Charlie would be a "card-carrying member" of. Warning: Sam does his Charlie impression, so be ready to fast-forward through that part.
Homer Simpson: Democrat or Republican?
This week, Sam and Anthony change up the podcast a bit and discuss whether Homer Simpson is a Democrat or a Republican. Using a pseudo-mathematical approach and a one-sided enthusiasm for the 31-year-old show, we decide what political party Homer would belong to as a “card carrying member.”
Aliens and Pandemics
Jurassic Park and Nuclear Weapons
Is this the episode where we strap nuclear bombs to dinosaurs? How are Iguanadons and ICBMs similar? Do the disasters from the dino movies mirror the almost-catastrophes around atomic weapons? Anthony reads at you, and Sam struggles to say dinosaur names.
Thomas the Tank Engine and Energy Policy
Can fictional trains from the early 20th century teach us a thing or two about clean energy transition? Or do we just learn more about how self-aware trains are brutally destroyed at the end of their time on the tracks? You'll never really know unless you listen to this episode.
Marvel Cinematic Universe and Unions
Sam and Anthony explore the strange corollary (or lack thereof) between superheroes (from the MCU) and unions--both how the power dynamics make collective bargaining unnecessary and whether or not superheroes would be union busters. There's some other stuff in there, too, but it's not as important probably.
Star Wars and Separation of Church and State
Pokemon and War
Does the Pokemon universe share parallels to modern warfare? Do humans make Pokemon into tools of war? In our inaugural episode of PopPartisan, we do our best to tackle these questions, but the problem is it's been years since either of us have played rugby.
