Dune Part 1 movie reactions + Mr Robot & The Patient in Hospital Zero
Rounding up 2021 with our reactions to the science fiction cinematic event of the year and with some suggestions for viewing and reading over the holidays.
Sandworms and Spinoffs: Witcher prequel, Dune movie hype and MUCH MORE!
Netflix is expanding the universe of The Witcher! We're hyped for the upcoming slew of spinoffs, with "Nightmare of the Wolf" up first as an animated prequel showcasing Vesemir's backstory. And of course, with the much-anticipated release of Denis Villeneuve's Dune movie just around the corner, we dive deep into the sandy planet of Arrakis as first depicted by Frank Herbert on the page, and discuss why thousands of readers keep coming back to this seminal science-fiction novel. We conclude the episode with what we're looking forward to, namely the recently announced Dragonball Super: Super Hero and how Spider-Man: No Way Home's teaser trailer is blowing the internet's collective minds.
Sweet Tooth (Netflix Series) Season 1 Discussion + Quirky Videogames We're Lovin'
Join us to discuss the recently released Netflix series "Sweet Tooth" season 1. In this TV adaptation of the Jeff Lemire comics, we discover a dark fairytale post-pandemic society with animal-children hybrids. We follow the tale of Gus, the titular kid with the sweet tooth and deer antlers, as he goes on a journey with his seemingly unwilling protector Jep, aka "Big Man", as they both discover that the real candy is the friends we make along the way.
We also discuss a couple of awesome different-from-the-usual-style games: It Takes Two, a quirky co-op platformer about collaboration and relationships, and Heaven's Vault "a science fiction archaeological adventure game." We close the episode with why Denis Villeneuve's DUNE has us hyped for October.
Enjoy!
Little Nightmares, Watchmen and the Snyder Cut
We're going back to our roots with a shorter episode touching upon various games, comics, books, films, and TV series!
Join Chris and Neville as they discuss the Little Nightmares series of horror puzzle-platformer games from the independent developer Tarsier Studios, getting back into Alan Moore's and Dave Gibbons iconic graphic novel Watchmen, and inevitably, the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League which released in March to much fan-fare (pun intended!).

Metal Gear! It CAN be! - MGS Series Retrospective & Discussion w/ Marco
It's finally here - the planets have aligned and our favourite Metal Gear Solid series expert joins Chris and Neville to discuss this most iconic series of games that changed us - and the games industry - forever.
Episode 5 - Legacy of Kain Series: A Retrospective
Welcome to the first special episode of Pop Culture Rush: an in-depth look at the Legacy of Kain games, a cult series of 5 videogames released between 1996 and 2004. These games were revolutionary at the time for their intricate plotting, brilliant writing, and excellent storytelling as well as excellent voice-acting. While the first few games were commercially successful, unfortunately eventually the series was left behind as the videogame industry continued to evolve. Legacy of Kain remains a very important gaming milestone on both a personal and global level, and has affected thousands of fans worldwide, who still revere this story and the journey these games took us on. In this episode we dive deep into the mythos of the series and hear from some fans from the still-active Legacy of Kain online community.
Ep 4 - Aliens, Cowboys, and everything in between
This month we're going back to our usual format, just two guys talking about stuff they're watching, reading and playing.
This episode we're focusing on movies and videogames.
At 01:00 we Chris discusses why anyone (not just anime buffs or series fans) should watch Dragonball Super: Broly, the latest movie from the franchise.
From 06:10, Neville then waxes lyrical about 2016's sci-fi movie "Arrival" and what makes it such an important science-fiction movie.
Starting at 11:00 we discuss the love-hate relationship Christian has developed with the roguelike "Lovecraft's Untold Tales" (which is really hard to beat but satisfying to play).
Then, at 16:09, Neville once again sings the praises of a blockbuster piece of media, this time being Rockstar Games' 2018 Western magnum opus, Red Dead Redemption 2, somehow managing to get through the episode without trying a cowboy accent.
Finally, at 21:20 we wrap up with a discussion of what we're looking forward to watching and reading next! (Neville: The Umbrella Academy & The Boys Season 2, Dark Season 3 - Chris: The Monsters Know what they're doing: combat tactics for dungeon masters).
Episode 3 - A Wild Kei-Pea Appeared!
For our third episode, we have a guest joining us. Kyra is an avid cosplayer and fellow geek we met through Malta Comic-Con. She would like to tell you to watch Colony on Netflix as well as read Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. When he's not hosting, Christian explains why you should watch Westworld on HBO and read the Madaddam Trilogy by Margaret Atwood. And Neville goes full-on Nostalgia with Avatar: The Last Airbender and reading The Rise of Kyoshi. We finally wrap up with what we're looking forward to reading, watching or playing in June!

Episode 2 - Bridge Baby and the Penitent One go to Fargo and The Loop
Welcome to our second episode of Pop Culture Rush! In these uncertain times, we all need something to distract us from reality. Here are our suggestions for the month of May 2020
What better way to forget reality than by hiking through a horrifying apocalypse in Death Stranding or fighting unholy hordes in Blasphemous? And if you're not into games, we also dive deep into the murky world of the Fargo TV series on FX and the slightly more hopeful Tales from the Loop on Amazon Prime Video.
