The Parents Music Resource Center's Moral Crusade against Porn Rock and Prince

The Parents Music Resource Center's Moral Crusade against Porn Rock and Prince

The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was founded by Tipper Gore, wife of Senator and later Vice President Al Gore; Susan Baker, wife of Treasury Secretary James Baker; Pam Howar, wife of Washington realtor Raymond Howar; and Sally Nevius, wife of former Washington City Council Chairman John Nevius.

On September 19,  1985 members of PMRC, known as the "Washington Wives" attended a Senate hearing. During the hearing Frank Zappa. Dee Snider  and John Denver  testified against the Recording Industry Association of America's decision to place a “Parental Advisory” sticker on album.

Today on Popular Education I will be joined by Michael B (@UrbanHumanbeing) and we will explore the different sides of this moral argument.
