Donations to Porkopolis Economics via BTCPay are appreciated: https://donations.porkopolis.io/
Porkopolis Economics covers macroeconomics, money, and sports from the creator of the Crypto Voices podcast, Matthew Mezinskis.
Today, we fact-check the age-old (in Bitcoin terms!!) comparisons that have always been made between Bitcoin and PayPal. You need to simply understand that Bitcoin is basic money, and whatever is happening inside of PayPal, is not.
This is also my 100th episode of Porkopolis Economics! As discussed at the video start, please note that from now on these macro and chart-type videos will only continue on YouTube and Rumble.
Crypto Voices, our long-form podcast on Bitcoin and privacy with Alec from Halo Privacy and Michel from nodl, will continue to be streamed via the RSS feed as it has since 2017 (via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.).
As always, thank you for watching, and listening!

16:09 Trend growth rates
Here I review gold investor Peter Schiff's thirteen-year bearish comments on Bitcoin the monetary system and the price of bitcoins. His consistency is quite remarkable, in light of continuous Bitcoin dominance over gold.
I close it with analyzing the 83% R-squared exponential trendline for gold's price, and comparing that with the 95% R-squared power trendline for the price of bitcoins.
Gold's trend only grows at 9% per year (doubles every 8 years), Bitcoin's at 125% (doubles every 0.8 years).

Here I talk about the exponential regression trendlines over gold's price from 1999. As gold is base money, like bitcoins, this video can be used to compare and contrast the supply and demand (price) trends for bitcoins we did in the last few videos. A key difference is that gold (and most markets) follow exponential trendlines, whereas the price of bitcoins follow a power trendline.
All-time trend coefficients to draw it yourself:
Power formula: y = a * EXP (b * x)
Coefficients found: y = 3.12E+02 * EXP (0.0237% * x)

Here I talk about the power regression trendlines over Bitcoin's price. From Bitcoin Pizza day in 2010, to the present. Three questions I answer in this video:
1) How many times has Bitcoin's price pierced its trendline?
2) What % of the time overall is this movement?
3) Does Bitcoin's price stay above its trendline more or less than under?
All-time trend coefficients to draw it yourself:
Power formula: y = a * x ^ b
Coefficients found: y = 7.70E-18 * x ^ 587%

Here I talk about the reserve ratio of the Canadian banking system from the late '60s, until today. This is the ratio of base money in banks, relative to outstanding demand deposits - systemwide.
The most important question I ask and answer in this video is: Is fractional reserve banking (and low reserve ratios) the source of recessions?
