Saving the Ocean While Staying Dry

This week I'm chatting with Deirdre Horan, founder and CEO of Dri. I wanted to showcase people who are making an impact. I hope that this episode inspires you to do something great today.

If you want to keep up with Deirdre: "Dri is creating a line of durable, fashionable, and environmentally sustainable umbrellas built from upcycled ocean bound plastic. We are working to protect our oceans, and create an eco-friendly name brand for the umbrella industry. But more than anything, we want to empower people to make conscious choices in their purchases. No matter how monumental our societal issues can feel, I firmly believe everyone has the ability to make a difference."

***UPDATE TO THIS SHOW***

After further research and talking with other experts and professionals in the wine industry: I retract my statements regarding "clean wine". After being informed more about how the wine process works I understand now that companies like Good Clean Wine is really more of a gaslit company meant to showcase really great marketing towards the people who want to live a "clean" eating lifestyle. But, also know nothing about wine. Myself included. I apologize, if this show led anyone on to believe in their "hangover" cures and discredited any other wineries in the process. But, I think it was a great discussion to have regarding label policing because each day it gets a little bit more challenging to navigate the actual truth when it comes to the food we eat.

Also, in reference to the statement I made about wine experts. The study actually took place in 2001 by Frederic Brochet at the University of Bordeaux where he invited 57 wine experts to perform in that experiment. No discredit to sommeliers, that's an incredibly challenging expertise. Just a candid expression in regards to that experiment.

I will work to to better, and am always willing to change my mind based on new information or if I've misspoken. Thank you for understanding!

There will be a follow up episode to tell the other side of the story from the perspective of the wineries and sommeliers.

Below is the Good Clean Wine website and A Forbes article to explore for yourself.

"Let Food Be thy Medicine and Medicine Be thy Food."

This week we're camping out in Bali, Indonesia to talk with my special guest Cece Heart. Her name is so fitting with the essence and joy she brought to this week's show. Bali is where chocolate is made.. but more importantly coffee. Yum! We'll chat about how food is used as a vessel to bring out our magic that all humans embody. How we can pivot and change our entire lives with our diet. How we can overcome sicknesses and improve our quality of life and how we feel. Food has immense power because it has everything to do with the role of how every single cell functions in our body. But, if it's so important why haven't we been taught about nutrition? Well it's complicated.. tune in.

White Privilege & Mac and Cheese Paninis

White Privilege & Mac and Cheese Paninis

This week I have the amazing pleasure of  interviewing Jen McFarland founder of Women Conquer Biz.  She is an amazing advocate and ally that helps women of color develop skills and actionable strategies to be leaders and entrepreneurs in their fields.  In light of the spark of racial injustices in America, we'll be talking about white privilege and allyship and what that looks like moving forward. Also, as restaurants begin to open we'll discuss if mom and pop's are doomed or will they be able to rise from the ashes, post Corona Virus. But, of course we have to talk about food in this show. And I'm excited to share with you Portland's odd cheese obsession and what kind of interesting  and popular foods you can expect to find here.
