Let's Talk About Thanksgiving | Preparedness Series Part 4 Wrap-up

1) We have made the choice to become Prepared because Bad things happen to Good People
2) Now we are going to start Camping/Hiking so we can get out into the "Wild" and learn some basic Skills and Making a list of our needs and any family members needs
3) So now we move Left or Right on the Step we are on to focus on the Diet thing, this is where we choose the path based on a desire to Eat Right and become less dependent on the Super Market Diet.
4) Learn all we can to either Hunt or Garden and start acquiring the tools and Equipment you will need. Choosing one path saves you tons of cash because you are focused on that main part of your Prepping Stuffs. You will no longer be going from one subject to the other.

It's hard to explain but when you start out, it is so easy to become distracted and confused, you will hear things like "Get your Beans, Band-aids and Bullets together".
But if you are not going to eat Beans, why buy a bunch of those, Right? If your thoughts on getting out of Dodge is a small vehicle or on foot, do you want a lot of heavy bullets?

So your plan will be very YOU Driven, to avoid becoming Overwhelmed you will need to do some thinking about your needs and Diet. Fallow these Easy steps and you can stay on track, Your Track.

I LOVE Thanksgiving and I have much to be thankful for, and I bet, if you think about it, so do you.

The first Thanksgiving was different than what they may have taught us in school, the reasons for the Pilgrims Abundance was not what I learned anyway.

Here is a better way to understand why those Pilgrims were so very Thankful.

Knowledge and Study | Hunting or Gardening | Preparedness Series Part 3

Knowledge and Study | Hunting or Gardening | Preparedness Series Part 3

This Episode we discuss the Gear and Knowledge required for either choice of Diet that we choose to make. Our choice of Diet is not just about SHTF (shit hitting the fan), but our entire life as well, it is about Survival, day in and day out, good times or bad, breakfast lunch and dinner, in the Wild or at a Resturant.

Step one was all about getting out Camping or Hiking and to use that time to learn Skills. Once you start your family needs list, Diet will become front and center. So what is your Diet and Why? Have you ever thought about the food you eat and Why, or Why Not?

So before we take that next Step Up, let's examine the gear and knowledge needed for that step, so we can make the right judgment call.

Both Hunting or Gardening takes a ton of practice, and a Very large Learning Curve if you plan on either being your Long Term Goal. Any Gardener can trap a small bird or rabbit if needed and so any Hunter can gather some eatable greens, but what about the long haul?

These Bullet Points are just a brief overview of things to keep in mind. The subject of Hunting or Gardening as discussed in this episode is for a starting point and to give a basic idea of the challenges of either. If you are in a Bug-out situation the weight in your pack will be a very important consideration before you ever have a need to grow or hunt food.

Gardening:
*Do you have enough sun exposure? Vegetables love the sun. They need at least 6 hours of full sun every day, and preferably 8 and don't forget the SEEDS
*Know your soil. Most soil can be enriched with compost and be fine for planting, but some soil needs more help. Vegetables must have good, loamy, well-drained soil
*Placement is everything. Avoid planting too near a tree, which will steal nutrients and shade the garden
*Vegetables need lots of water, at least 1 inch of water a week. See more about when to water vegetables
*You'll need some basic planting tools. These are the essentials: spade, garden fork, soaking hose, hoe, hand weeder, and wheelbarrow (or bucket) for moving around mulch or soil. It's worth paying a bit extra for quality tools
*Check your frost dates. Find first and last frost dates in your area and be alert to your local conditions
Article from Farmers Almanac

Hunting:
*When still-hunting, most of us don't move slowly enough, or stay put long enough. Try using your watch as a guide. Decide on a period of time to stand still, such as five minutes. This way you'll be forced to remain quiet and silent for a minimum amount of time, longer if necessary
*If you make an unusually loud noise, stop and stand there as long as you can if you suspect animals are close by
*When you plan to stalk an animal by making a big circle and coming up behind it, it's easy to become confused as you change your location. Pick a distinctive object on the skyline that you can recognize from the back, such as a large tree, a fence line or a rock, to help guide you to the correct spot
*Hunting with the Sun, subzero temperatures can send squirrels into a state of semi-hibernation. But they still have to eat, and on the first sunny day following a stretch of snow and clouds, they’ll be on the move. Focus on well-lit parts of the timber edges, openings, and the sides of two-track or logging roads. And go ahead and sleep in: Your best opportunity to spot squirrels sunning on tree limbs is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
*Leafless conditions make longer shots possible. A .22 rimfire that will park everything inside a 50-cent piece at 50 to 75 yards plus the ability to shoot it that well will put more bushytails in the bag. But take care when firing a .22 at grounded targets, as slow-moving bullets can ricochet off frozen dirt

Diet & Planning | Moving Laterally | Preparedness Series Part 2

Diet & Planning | Moving Laterally | Preparedness Series Part 2

Diet & Planning “If you don't know where you are going, you'll end up someplace else.” Yogi Berra This Episode is all about deciding on the direction you will take, move left or right. We covered Mindset and how it has brought us to the point of taking the first step into camping or Hiking. Now that we are going out into the "Wild" and camping/hiking we will need to learn some Skills, at least the basics, Shelter, Fire, Water, and Food. These 3 things, Shelter, Fire, and Water are as important as breathing, these are skills everyone needs to learn, but they are not the things that will change the direction, left or right we are focused on at this point. Watch some videos on these 3 skills and learn them as you are out in Nature while the World as you know it is still around. Food, on the other hand, will be at the top of your list, your Diet is a Variable that You Can Change it pertains to long-term and Diet Needs of your Family. So we will leave out Gear and barely touch on it because for now, it's all about the direction you move laterally, Left or the Right as we Step-Up. What that means is, if you choose a diet of more Grains and Greens then the next step up will determine the Gear and Knowledge that will be required. The same is true if your diet is mostly Meats and Fats, that will mean different Gear. What makes the Journey of Prepping so overwhelming is when these decisions are not made to Fit Your Needs. If you don't learn the proper Diet for you or your family then you'll spend time and money trying to do both, this will lead to confusion and frustration, not to mention the hit to the Wallet. Quite simply, the Gear and knowledge for one diet are 180 degrees from that of the other diet. Here is a Great Book mentioned in Episode https://amzn.to/2pWuKFp Footnote, my comment about Eating Grain and Fiber. Cellulose is Non-digestible by man, cellulose is a food for herbivorous animals (e.g., cows, horses) Fact check, Click Link Here. https://www.britannica.com/science/cellulose

Learning Survival | Prepping the Easy Way | Preparedness Series Part 1

Learning Survival | Prepping the Easy Way | Preparedness Series Part 1

This Episode is based on the Larger Issues of Preparing to Survive a Bad Situation. These issues cannot be discussed with simple Talking Points or a Bumper Sticker discussion. If you are Reluctant to the Idea of Prepping or just starting to prepare for bad times that may creep into your life, this is for you. I want to help those that may feel confused, or bewildered with the process completely.

I was a "Prepper" before it was even classified as lunacy, terrorism or even cool, depending on who you talk to. In my 40 year journey, I have narrowed things down to what really matters, your Family and those you care about the most.

So, for now, stay away from the Hardcore, and Doom and Gloom Preppers
1) Avoid Prophets of doom and the Over Zealous Survivalist.
2) Take up Camping or Hiking, this gets you into shape without joining a gym
3) As you Camp/Hike you will gain Skills and get some Cool-Ass Gear too
4)These Adventures into the Wild, will help you start your "List of Needs" based on your Family
5) Your Family will grow closer together and the Children will learn to be more Self Reliant
6) You, will become more Confident, and have Fun while learning to Prepare

All subjects are based on a Minimalist Mindset and point of view to help take the Scary out of all the "What if's" in life.

The Philosophy of Violence | EMP Series

The Philosophy of Violence | EMP Series

Violence needs philosophy, and yet, compared to some of the other disciplines in the humanities and the social sciences, especially political science, international relation, sociology, and social psychology, philosophy has been almost reluctant to engage with the problem of violence.

In a move that may seem counter-intuitive, Philosopher Rowland Stout makes a strong argument why (in certain cases) we should consider violence to be a virtue rather than a vice.

“If someone attacks you for no good reason, they make themselves your enemy and in some circumstances, you may then be entirely justified in fighting back – not just to defend yourself but to inflict serious harm on them.”

By looking at self-defense as the Trigger of legitimate violence, ask yourself two crucial questions: What renders an aggressor liable to a violent action by you? And, in terms of respecting one’s victim, what is the appropriate degree of defensive violence, and will you have the time to figure it out?

Every time you allow yourself to come into contact with others, you will necessarily be forced to act. Your ability to read a situation and figure out others intentions, will determine whether you help them or harm them.

Make no mistake, the people you run into during the End of the World will be hungry, angry, depress, disillusioned, and yes, violent and not in a pleasant or agreeable mood. If you don't want to become unhappy with what you are forced to do, have to become, in these Life or Death situations, stay out of the Lions Den all together.

In any Nation Wide Catastrophe, such as an EMP, 90% of the people will die in the first year, that is 50 million people each and every month in the USA. What that tells me, for every day I stay alive, and away from violence, there are 1.6 million less problems on our journey.

Is It Plausible? Listening to Dr. Pry | EMP Series

Is It Plausible? Listening to Dr. Pry | EMP Series

Mark Levin had one hell of an awesome Guest on his Show, Life, Liberty, and Levin. Dr. Pry goes into detail how our enemies could use an EMP to change the Worlds Power Dynamic in less then 24 hour if they chose too, and with only one nuclear warhead.

My Little Dog is Hurting?

So what do you do when your pet gets hurt? They give us such joy and more importantly Unconditional Love, but is there a price on that and where do we draw the line? PS my Toyota Tundra is a 2013, not an 08
