Zella Hughes & the Reid School Fun Run ft. Olivia McMahon

Zella Hughes & the Reid School Fun Run ft. Olivia McMahon

In S4Ep5 of the PRP, Adam babbles with carefree runner, aspiring gymnast and all around impulsively enthusiast 2nd grader Zella Hughes who has been preparing for the Reid School Fun Run on Friday April 19th, 2024. Olivia McMahon, former Fun Run champion, impassioned artist and Zella’s big sister joins the show to offer her take on all things jingles, candy bars and of course, Taylor Swift.

Buckle up for this audacious episode as chaos ensues from the onset! The gals cover a range of topics as they traverse their way through the traditional PRP script, providing some surprisingly refreshing perspective on movement as it relates to physical health. Are us old folk overthinking this whole running thing? Is it more simple than we are making it out to be? Stop asking so many questions and just go outside and play, duh!

Things get vulnerable and extra cute when the sisters express their love and support for one another towards the end of the ‘sode. A good message and reminder to us all, that at the end of the day, loving and supporting one another is a whole lot easier and far less intricate than we make it out to be sometimes.

Reeses vs Kit Kat, who ya got?! Did someone say SOLAR ECLIPSE?? How much money would it take to get Olive to run a marathon? What in tarnation are the mini mini olympics?! How did sissy lose her AirPods? Who the heck is Claire and why is she so darn fast? Errrr, how far into the Swiftie hole has our little Zel fallen? Chill inducing jingles! Laps in PE? Wait, what are we supposed to do with the yellow snow??! 4th grade math?! Who’s got Barbie vision?? Warming up with the Macarena?! Spiders, bubbles and edgie wedgies, oh my!

This and lots more chaos in this unhinged, youthful and refreshingly sincere episode of the PRP.

Aidan Bustillo & the Boston Marathon ft. Dylan Parker

Aidan Bustillo & the Boston Marathon ft. Dylan Parker

In S4Ep4 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with seasoned middle distance runner, blossoming young New Balance Speedster and all around good vibes ambassador Aidan Bustillo, who has been preparing for the Boston Marathon on Monday April 15th, 2024. Dylan Parker, aspiring elite marathoner, laboratory scientist extraordinaire and one of Aidan’s athletes joins the show to offer his take on all things Strava, pickleball & coach Aidan.

The banter commences with the boys learning about how Aidan’s relationship with running has evolved immensely over the past few years. During his time in college, Aidan slowly began spending less time thinking about competition and more time thinking about community. Although both are crucial aspects to the health and longevity of our sport as a whole, he credits his time working at Brighton Running Lab for evolving his outlook on running in a way he never saw coming. The relationships he’s built in these past few years have helped him bolster the self confidence to pursue goals in life, both in and out of the running world.

Things get vulnerable when Aidan lays out his bold goals for Boston whilst the lads sermonize his recent & prolific rise in marathon distance. One thing is for certain, with a past year filled with college graduation, getting hired as a brand rep for New Balance, and running two sub 2:45 marathons, the sky's truly the limit for the emerging young Michigan-made prodigy!

Ohhhh we out here bro-sodin’? Mmmm, pipin’ hot nanner bread!! Plantains on the menu today?? MAKE STRAVA CASUAL AGAIN!! Normy vibes?! More pickleball drama… Crony coaching?? Egypt Valley lore?! Yap levels? Route masters?? Who exactly is Bill Kohn, and why should you be aware of him?! Discount double deuce check with Aidan from New Balance, like a good runner, Aidan is there. Boston, bananas & Maurten-based bribery oh my!

Aaron Barnett & the Martian Marathon ft. Jared Barnett

Aaron Barnett & the Martian Marathon ft. Jared Barnett

In S4Ep3 of the PRP, Adam chops it up with established marathoner, design artisan virtuoso and passionate community development specialist Aaron Barnett, who has been preparing for the Martian Marathon on Saturday April 13th, 2024. Jared Barnett, seasoned hobby jogger, lover of all people and aspiring public health aficionado joins the show to offer his take on all things community, stewardship, and running.

The conversation kicks off with the brothers Barnett reflecting on the significance of community and how pivotal a role it plays in each of our lives. From an early age, Papa Barnett made sure the boys understood this by laying the groundwork for what would become a primary pillar in both Aaron & Jared’s lives. Sacrificing for the greater good and helping uplift those around you has become a daily practice for these gents, each of them pursuing this work in their own unique lanes with their own unique style.

The lads then break bread about running, art and stewardship as they pontificate on what it means to be a leader. Leadership comes in all different shapes, forms and sizes these days, but one thing is for sure - it’s best to lead by example and let others tap in on their own timing and on their own fruition. The betterment of society comes when non forceful initiative is taken by those who possess the skills to empower others. At the end of the day, we’ve all got to ask ourselves, how can we impact the world in a positive way?

What’s the significance of the date 05/04/19?? Does the PRP have a cousin?! Is Jared about to be internationally thuggin?? What exactly does it mean to let go and let god? Is perfect the enemy of done?! Uh oh, heads up here comes the poop monster!! Big shout outs to Emeril Lagasse?? Does the truth really expose itself late in a marathon? What is the book of Barnett and why should you consider getting a copy?! Drip shots fired?? Pad Thai, vibes and humble pie, oh my!!

This and so much more in this inspiring, motivational and prolific episode of the PRP!

Jeremiah Maestre & the Marathon Des Sables ft. Melanie Sulaver

Jeremiah Maestre & the Marathon Des Sables ft. Melanie Sulaver

In S4Ep2 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with budding running phenom, enthusiastic boxing maven and story telling raconteur Jeremiah Maestre who has been preparing for the Marathon Des Sables on April 14th, 2024. Melanie Sulaver, seasoned marathoner, local rockstar nutrition coach, and fierce advocate for women in sport joins the show to offer her take on all things fueling, sand and of course, nanners.

The conversation kicks off with an in depth reflection on parenthood as both Jer & Mel discuss the intricacies involved when balancing family life with the pursuit of one’s passions. Contrary to what some may believe, having kids has actually enhanced both Jer & Mel's pursuit of their goals as it has enabled them to prioritize what’s important in their lives by being more intentional about their avocations. When you’re choosing to not spend time with your family, it sure as hell better be something that’s worth investing time in!

The three then take a deep dive into Jeremiah’s established career as a professional boxer and discuss his recent transition into the sport of long distance running. Having only run his first official marathon just two short years ago, Jer has thrust himself into the world of running full tilt without any plans of looking back. Although he has found himself in new territory over the past couple of years, a mantra that he brings with him from his time in the ring is an inspiring reminder for us all; don’t do it for others, do it for yourself.

Ehhh bruh, can we stop real quick I got sand in my shoes!! We talking camel cut offs?! Has Jer assembled the perfect team of avengers to take this challenge on?? COD w/ the boys?! Hey neighbor, you wouldn’t happen to have any extra bivouac rugs, would ya? Ayahuasca?! Eating bat heads?! Merzouga dunes?!? Marrakech?? Sleeping mat or stove, which one you hauling along?! Did Jer just say venom pumps? Ummm 130F degrees, say whaaaa? Shoe cobblers? Floss?! Camels, carbohydrates and compasses, oh my!

Geo Woodman & The Mid South Double ft. Connor Grant

Geo Woodman & The Mid South Double ft. Connor Grant

In S4Ep1 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with seasoned movement aficionado, prominent local endurance coach and all around good vibes family man Geo Woodman, who has been preparing for the Mid South Double on March 16th, 2024. Connor Grant, ardent cycling enthusiast, proud dog daddy and seasoned PRP alum joins the show to offer his take on all things gravel, lube and movement as a form of celebration.

This banter filled episode has a bit of everything and includes an extensive regaling of Geo’s journey to becoming such an eminent member of the local endurance community. From team sports, to teaching, to being a Nantucket chef, Geo’s story is far from ordinary, but seems to provide constant hints along the way that he was destined for a life of coaching and collaboration.

The gents then dive into a detailed symposium on what exactly The Mid South is, and more importantly, what it represents. This gives way to a conversation about movement as a form of celebration. Sure, endurance is about grinding, pushing yourself and finding your own limits; but it’s also about human connection, helping to uplift others and making sacrifices for the greater good of sport. Although athletes often dominate the collective narrative for their deserving and impressive feats, it’s important to remember that they are not the only part of the humming endurance ecosystem. From neighborhood gyms & PT clinics, to the local brick & mortar stores, to coaches, to community event organizers the list of supporters is lengthy and full of inspiring individuals. One thing is for certain, this community is strongest and most vibrant when we support one another full tilt. A belief that for Geo, has matured into a lifestyle that has brought him more enlightenment than he could have ever expected.

Ok, ok, ok who is Bobby and why on earth does everyone REALLY want a hug from him? Oh baby we talking cinematic trilogies?! How the hell did Connor pull off getting Lizzy J to agree to marry him??? Just how many fire new jingles we got queue’d up for Season 4?! What exactly is a celebration of red mud?! Just how far back does Geo’s family lineage of coaches & athletes go? Truth be told? PF Changs?! Berks, recovery slides and crocs, oh my!

Mikel Haggadone & the Wakely Dam 55K

**This episode release was delayed for the past 8 months due to legal reasons. As such, it has been held deep inside the PRP vault, safeguarded by nanners, until now...**

In this special bonusode of the PRP Adam rambles on over to Philadelphia to catch up with dear friend, seasoned ultra runner & post doctoral fellow extraordinaire Mikel Haggadone who has been preparing for the Wakely Dam 55K on July 29th, 2023. Things get immediately vulnerable as Mike shares a detailed and frightening account of a recent accident he was involved in. While attempting to cross the street on the last mile of one of his final training runs heading into race week, Mike was the unfortunate victim of a hit and run accident and was struck by a vehicle going 30 MPH.

The lads take time to reflect on this horrific accident and use his experience as a catalyst to discuss some of their recent challenges with grief-based mental health hurdles they’ve both been navigating. Although this accident sent Mike to the emergency room and has forced him to make the tough decision to withdraw from the race, what it can’t take away is his sense of pride, his gratitude for life and his appreciation for his tight knit community who is there to support him, rain or shine.

The gentlemen then evolve their conversation to the topic of movement in the form of racing vs adventuring. Having both gone through multi-year injury struggles, they’ve both, in independent ways, been forced to reevaluate and reshape their relationships with running. These days, it’s less about fast times and podiums and more about forms of the sport that encompass and allow for the creation of running as form of art, exploration and adventure.

Just how fucking LAWLESS is Philly?! Trolly say toot toot? Is Mike running ultra marathon’s during government issued heat warnings?! Pizzaterian?! Yep, it’s raining, it's lightening & it's thundering! What’s with Mike’s love affair with hats?? Mail time! Humid nanners?! Bears, canyons & Underoath, oh my! Margaret Levasseur & the Holiday Hustle Half Marathon ft. Ustina Shives

In the S3 finale of the PRP, Adam colloquiums with stoic road runner, enthusiastic cycling tutee, passionate licensed clinical social worker and all around good vibes ambassador Margaret Levasseur who has been preparing for the Holiday Hustle Half Marathon on December 2nd, 2023. Ustina Shives, hobby jogger extraordinaire, passionate yogi and ardent licensed professional counselor joins the show to discuss all things running, Margaret and therapy.

Margaret and Ustina provide the PRP listenership with a masterclass on the significance of mental health and utilizing therapy as a well for wellness whilst exploring what it really means to be your authentic self. From our athletic endeavors, to our social relationships and beyond, the further we stray from our authentic selves the more we will collectively struggle with our own mental well-being.

Things get vulnerable when Margaret opens up and shares intimate detail about how she has leveraged running as an outlet for grief recently. With the tragic loss of her father in March of 2023, Margaret details how the past few months have been very different for her and discusses the adjustments she has been forced to make in every single aspect of her life. Although overcome at times with emotion due to the harsh realities that have been thrown her way this year, Margaret provides some encouraging anecdotes about how her, her mom and her sister are facing these hardships together, and approaching the mourning and healing processes as a team.

Ernest Holly & the New York City Marathon

Ernest Holly & the New York City Marathon

In S3Ep16 of the PRP, Adam breaks bread with blossoming long distance runner, inspiring community builder, ardent charitable fund raiser and immensely proud papa bear Ernest Holly who has been preparing for the New York City Marathon on Sunday November 5th, 2023.

Ern shares the tale of his humble beginnings with the sport and sheds light on the amalgamation of events that lead him to lace up for the first time. A combination of an eye-opening doctor appointment coupled with a global pandemic were enough to kickstart his evolution; but the real changes occurred when he began to be more mindful about what he was putting in his body from a dietary perspective. For Ern, running has served as the genesis for more lifestyle changes than he can even keep track of. From exercise, to a healthy diet, to community, to self confidence and beyond, Ern discusses the spring board the sport has provided him with and shares some inspiring anecdotes about how his efforts are starting to rub off on those around him.

Things get vulnerable when Ern provides the PRP listenership with a masterclass on the human experience. For the first time in his life, through immersing himself fully in the process of training for a race, Ern experienced self empowerment on a level that he had never felt before. From I gotta do this, to I want to do this, to what’s next come at me! In Ern’s book, everyone everywhere deserves to feel this euphoric sense of accomplishment in some way, shape or form at some point in life.

Yooo we up in the house that Joe Robinson built for this one?! Is Ern working hard to be a #dancedad?! Is Tommie gonna get em’ to the starting line on time?! Is Ern out here just paying it forward?? Push Start Running, say whaaa? Is Ern a romantic? What’s the best way to change your life?! Who is Anna and why is she such a boss?!? Sons of Anarchy?? Appreciation for the written work? Kyle Petronio & the Indianapolis Marathon ft. Quinn Williamson

In S3Ep15 of the PRP, Adam shoots the shit with eccentric seasoned runner, enthusiastic multimedia entrepreneur, passionate dog lover and endearing endurance community socialite Kyle Petronio who has been preparing for the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on Saturday October 28th, 2023. Quinn Williamson, ardent outdoorsman, tea aficionado and massive spring water critic joins the show to discuss all things zone 2, running & Kyle.

The PRP listenership is enlightened with an in depth look into Kyle’s journey to the endurance community. From gymnastics, to downhill skiing to running track in high school it was clear from an early age that Kyle was going to be involved in this world somehow, someway. Kyle then shares some inspiring anecdotes about how he is attempting to harness and blend other passions of his with the endurance community. From storytelling, to photography, to cinematography to DJ’ing (that’s right DJ’ing) Kyle is on a fervent quest to express himself under the umbrella of the endurance world, whilst utilizing his multimedia talents and knowledge of the story telling process.

Things get vulnerable when Kyle shares insight into some mental health challenges he recently experienced as he graduated from University in Spring of 2021. With the pandemic still raging, Kyle was unable to lock in the necessary internships required in order to get hired in his desired industry. Frustrated & disheartened, he was forced to move back in with his parents and figure out his next move. Although he admits he has been humbled over the past two years more than ever in his life, he credits this arduous time as being the pivot point that has lead him to the wonderful SE Michigan endurance community that he now calls home.

Ok, what the hell does Dogstache mean and why should you join the movement? We talking Huron 100 Pioneers?? Quinn, you running XC in ELEMENTARY school, ma boy!? Apiarists?? Pigeon Milk?? In S3Ep14 of the PRP, Adam chops it up with blossoming distance runner, hobby photographer extraordinaire, sophisticated fashionmonger and proud father, Aaron Barfield who has been preparing for the Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon on Sunday October 15th, 2023. Candice Whitfield, retired running phenom, ardent mental health advocate, swagtastic mama bear and Aaron’s better half joins the show to offer her take on all things Ypsilanti, the family and of course Aaron’s obsession with running.

Aaron and Candice provide a look into their quaint life style as intimate partners, best friends, and most importantly, parents. Although having children together at such a young age presented them with a number of challenges both independently and as a team, they live life with no regrets and are thankful each day for the family and life that they have built with one another. From getting the boys to school on time, to spending QT with their extended families, to lampin with the homies, the two humbly admit they are livin' good.

Things get vulnerable when Aaron discusses his relationship with the sport and provides insight into how he checks himself before he wrecks himself. As someone with only a couple years of disciplined training under his belt, Aaron offers some insight that is wise beyond his years surrounding cultivating a healthy relationship with running. Challenge yourself, set big goals, and pursue said goals with tenacity; but don’t get too caught up in the destination and lose sight of the journey that is your day to day experience.

Bruh… is Aaron the master procrastinator?! Who is Benny da boy and why he keep interrupting us though? Ummm why does Candice want to die in Ypsi?? Birria ramen, say whaaa? Wait wait wait… what happened at NECTO?! RIP to Beezy’s! What exactly does Aaron mean when he says, ‘it’s in me not on me’?? Recipe remixes?! Rebecca Grace, prominent social runner, ardent diversity, equity and inclusion aficionado and passionate co-founder of Run For Brews Royal Oak joins the show to offer her take on all things Rashard, RFB and running.

Rashard shares a detailed account into the genesis of his journey with running and discusses the birth of Running For Brews, a running club focused on socializing, inclusivity and of course, beer! Although a lot has changed for Rashard over his decade plus long relationship with the sport, one thing has remained consistent throughout; his passion for using running as a conduit for human relationships. Whether you’re fast or slow, interested in walking or running, new to town or been a Michigander for life, you’re welcome at RFB Monday nights.

Things get vulnerable when both Rashard and Rebecca break down their shared philosophies surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion. In life and running alike, the two stress the significance of education and awareness and discuss the growth and progress that can be achieved by forcing yourself out of your bubble and into uncomfortable situations. Rashard enlightens the PRP listenership with some paramount perspective surrounding what it feels like to be under represented in social situations and shares several anecdotes about what actions from others along with what adopted personal mindsets have helped him feel more comfortable and provided him with a more significant sense of belonging.

Ummm did Rashard show up with a full cooler, and is this podcast simply a tour of his lifestyle illustrated through beer?! Shiiit, how much beer we drinking?! Lindsay Green, one-time mic drop marathoner, newly licensed registered dietitian and Adam’s better half joins the show to offer her take on all thing runnings, podcasting and bananas.

Adam takes the PRP listenership on a tour of his journey with running and shares insight into both the origins of the PreRace Podcast and how his relationship with his passion project has evolved. Adam then shares some important antidotes about our identities as athletes and how it can be a dangerous game to allow yourself to get too wrapped up in the running weeds. Diversify your interests in and away from the sport. Don’t forget to pursue other passions off the pavement and trail, and look for alternative ways to be involved with the sport without being the participant first hand. You may just surprise yourself with what you find, Adam sure did.

Things get vulnerable when Adam opens up about some of the grief he has encountered over the past year of his life. Although faced with loss, sadness and frustration, his journey has provided him with something unexpectedly powerful. A platform for discussion and vulnerability which has granted him the ability to strengthen existing relationships and nurture new ones.

Tommie Runz & the Berlin Marathon

Tommie Runz & the Berlin Marathon

In S3Ep11 of the PRP, Adam colloquiums with seasoned marathoner, social media luminary and vibe creator extraordinaire, Tommie Runz who has been preparing for the Berlin Marathon on September 24th, 2023.

Tommie shares the tale of how the sport of running found it’s way into his life and enlightens the PRP listenership with some tremendous insight into the self-empowerment his journey with running has provided him with. The lads deep dive into the significance of sharing your story with the world and emphasize the importance of remaining true to who you are while doing so. Be authentic to yourself and share your narrative. It has so much value. Don’t try to fit into a mold that you think is appropriate. Follow your dreams and spread your wings. The effects of such behavior will likely ripple further out than you may expect.

Things get vulnerable when Tommie ties in representation and inclusion in the sport as it relates remaining true to who you are. As members of a marginalized community, it can be easy to shy away from or change who you are in spaces where your culture isn’t represented. For Tommie, the pursuit of his passion has changed from chasing PR’s to showing up in spaces like this, remaining true to himself and showing others in his community that they too belong.

Wait, did Tommie used to be buff as hell?! 3:13 in the 313, say wha?? Gray or grey, which one ya got? Ummm did Tommie really just help Meb Keflezighi throw out the first pitchFenway Park?!? Who is Kofuzi, and why should you go follow him immediately? How deep into the metaverse did Tommie have to crawl looking for a lost audio file? Jessica Reynolds, aspiring running coach, self proclaimed hammock hound, and full-time grad student along with Emily Short, seasoned speedster, devoted GLR enthusiast and self proclaimed boat nerd join the show to break bread about all things running, life and representation in the sport.

Olive de Bear, Women’s Ferry Field 5K Time Trial race director, botanist extraordinaire and proud PRP alumni joins the show to vibe with the gang and offer a tidbit or two about what has been different in year two of planning and preparing for this emerging event.

Things get vulnerable when the women deep dive into the labyrinthine world of college running and discuss the challenges that each of them faced when suiting up and stepping up to the starting line as NCAA athletes. From team dynamics, to coach relationships, to personal peril and everything in between, the gals share some tremendous awareness into the dissonant world of competing in the sport at such a high level at such a young age. More importantly, the gals discuss what their journey with running has looked like since then and share some priceless gems about how to nurture your relationship with the sport. For them, it’s no longer about speed and competition. It’s about joy, empowerment and community. As Jessica so elegantly puts it, find your happy place, find your happy pace.

Ummm, what does Olivia mean by the term happy oopsie?! What the hell is a Genus Monsteras? Does Jessica have the best running bucket list in the history of the PRP?! We talking Appalachian Trail?! What in god’s name is a canoe marathon?? Machu Pichu?! Bald Eagles?? What is the stroller-mile world record?! Philodendrons, hormones and catch basins oh my!

Cynthia Vink & the Erie Marathon ft. David Pokriefka

In S3Ep9 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with second-time marathoner, prideful life long Michigander, CPA extraordinaire, and passionate local running luminary Cynthia Vink, who has been preparing for the Erie Marathon on Sunday September 10th, 2023. David Pokriefka, on again off again hobby jogger, jubilant mechanical engineer and Cindy’s better half joins the show to offer his take on running, Cindy and all things David Goggins….

Cindy provides the PRP listenership with an extensive tour of her origins with running and shares a detailed account of how her relationship with the sport has blossomed into what it is today. Baby steps, taking small leaps of faith, two huge scoops and patience and believing in herself has yielded a connection with movement that has become more powerful than she ever could have imagined.

Things get vulnerable when Cynthia shares insight into some of the social anxiety she struggled with when first discovering the sport. From not feeling confident at starting lines to being overcome with nerves when attending her first group run, Cindy shares a tidbit or two about what it took to get over that hump, and more importantly what she has found on the other side.

Not the gumdrop button?! Red rover red rover send who right over??? Cynthia Vink and the Chamber of Secrets?! What’s David’s secret to speed walking so damn fast? How does Facebook (yes, Facebook) play into the story of how Cindy and David met? Jimmy Buffet?! Just how much does David LOVE seat belts? Banana Blizzards from DQ, say whhhaaaa?? Alex Bryan & the Pines to Vines 55K ft. Kelly Wilson

In S3Ep8 of the PRP, Adam babbles with seasoned ultra runner, co-founder of the Bad Decisions Track Club, avid burper and Director of Student-Life Sustainability at the University of Michigan, Alex Bryan who has been training for the Pines to Vines 55K on August 20th, 2023. Kelly Wilson, former Division I T&F and XC star, passionate non-diet dietician, retired farmer, and Alex’s better half joins the show to offer her take on all things running, life and auto cannablizing turtle burgers…

The PRP listenership is regaled with the story behind the genesis of the Bad Decisions Track Club and learns how Alex and his buddy Brian Walline got this jubilant and unique gang of misfits united, aligned, up and “running”. The three take a deep dive on what it means to run for fun and discuss why we should all be leveraging running as a source of wellness and not as a source of anxiety or angst. Sure, set goals, train hard and shoot for the stars, but if you’re not having fun while doing so, perhaps it’s time to reexamine your relationship with the sport.

The conversation then pivots to what Alex and Kelly deem as the most important aspect of running: the relationships that are formed and nurtured with other like minded individuals. From weekly track workouts, to beer miles, to yearly banquets with multiple outfit changes, the real treasure that the turtle burgers have discovered is their relationships with one another. Sarcastic, supportive and everything in between, tune in to learn more about how BDTC has cultivated a culture of obscure but brilliant benevolence for one another.

Ummm why is Alex always carrying around a god damn stick with a flag on it?! Is BDTC takin you straight to vibe rehab?? We ouchea jumpin’ creek? Whoa, whoa, whoa, who the hell is Rudy Fuck Face? Just how much does Alex love beets?? Who does Kelly love more, Alex or the Old Dirty Bearstard?? Who is Gary Wilson, and why is he such a legend? What on earth is a hasher and how do you catch one? Connor Grant & the Leadville Trail 100 MTB ft. Liz Joyce

In S3Ep7 of the PRP, Adam prattles with seasoned endurance athlete, serenading sweet talker, passionate community connoisseur and dedicated cycling junkie Connor Grant who has been preparing for the Leadville Trail 100 MTB on August 12th, 2023. Liz Joyce, exuberant runner, newly licensed physician, and Connor’s better half joins the show to help Adam wrangle the collective energy and shed light on all things running, cycling and dating Connor.

The three deep dive on Connor’s unique relationship with his coach and discuss some of the differences when training under the umbrella of a mentor vs going at things solo. This leads into an important conversation regarding the significance of taking space to give yourself credit and celebrate the victories you achieve. Do your best not to have a sense of entitlement to your fitness and ALWAYS show up for yourself with a pat on the back when you muster the courage to take a swing at something. Stuff like this is hard to do and the most important person to acknowledge and reflect on that hard work is you.

The conversation gets vulnerable when Connor provides some extensive insight into his decades long experience in the endurance world and shares a tidbit or two or three… or four… about what he’s picked up along the way. From running, to triathlon, to cycling there has been one common theme that he has kept close and never forgotten: listen to your life and absorb your surroundings. Life will talk to you, try not to be so introspective about your direction that you aren’t present enough to follow the signs that are naturally provided to you.

What is Connor’s tude towards the tude? What the hell does Liz put in her Oatmeal?! What exactly is a Pina Colada Race? How does Michael Paker play into the RomCom that is Liz & Connor? What kind of customers in Connor thirsty for?! We ouchea buckle huntin? Wait… why is Liz afraid of Connor on race morning?? Why exactly is Connor striving for the race morning triple deuce?  How many bikes does Connor have in his Arsenal? What the hell is a sugar bush?! What does Liz mean by the logistics of the Cheese? Nancy Hughes & the Tushars Half Marathon ft. Austin Hughes

In S3Ep6 of the PRP, Adam pilgrimages out to Utah to shoot the shit with first time half marathoner, exuberant socialite and mama bear extraordinaire Nancy Hughes who has been preparing for the Tushars Mountain Runs Half Marathon on July 29th, 2023. Austin Hughes, recent mountain hobby joggin' convert and Nancy’s beloved son joins the show to help shed light on all things Utah, Nancy and what not to do before races.

Vulnerability arrives in full force as the Hughes crew reminisces about how difficult the past few months have been for them as a family. Losing a loved one is painful, complicated, frustrating and often times feels paralyzing. There are some good days, there are more bad days, and the unfortunate truth is that the road ahead of them is still long and undetermined. Despite the uncertainty, however, Nancy and Austin reflect on how movement and fresh air have slowly become staple coping mechanisms in their collective journeys with grief.

The squad then deep dives into some of Nancy’s insecurities about tackling a goal this monumental. A high altitude event like this is not for the faint of heart, but her boys remind her, neither is dealing with the loss of a life partner. Although 2023 has been rough, this event provides a platform for Nancy to prove just how strong she is to the most important person to believe in that mindset. Herself.

What exactly is a Hughes cruise? How many Hughes views must one embrace before earning a proper Hughes snooze? Uhhh we talkin’ sock ransoms?! Just how flat are those quesadillas, good sir?? Ok, who bumped ahead god damnit?!! Is Nance a biiiig shit on her calendar typa gal? What in god’s name is a bookmobile?! Does Nancy suffer from a severe case of goodbye amnesia?! The PRP listenership is then provided with a comprehensive timeline of Nick’s career and is enlightened as to how he went from BMX biking champ, to collegiate team captain, to OTQ runner, to gravel cycling phenom. This leads to a riveting discussion regarding community building and event coordination in the endurance sports world as an expression of art and creativity. Is Nick an athlete or an artist? Listen up, digest, and we’ll let you be the judge of that.

In the S2 finale of the PRP, Adam welcomes back first time ultra marathoner, ardent PhD candidate, passionate nature connoisseur and proud PRP alumni Evan Romero who has been training for the Red River Gorge 50K on December 3rd, 2022. The lads kick off the finale with some insight, fun facts and reflections on PRP Season 2. From one-mile time trials to 250+ mile races and everything in between, one thing is certain, it's been one helluva ride! Evan enlightens the PRP listenership on his current professional pursuits and shares details about why the next year of his life will be one of major transition.

Taylor Witt, on again off again runner, mechanical engineer extraordinaire, aspiring musician and proud new cat daddy joins the show to offer his stoic and witty take on both life and running. Taylor sheds light on his personal history with running and provides details about his current relationship with the sport. If there is one thing his journey has taught him, it's that running can do what you want it to do, and be what you want it to be. Don't let someone else's opinion or vision of running dictate what you make of it. Make it your own.

Things get vulnerable when the boys go all in on advice surrounding runners and our collective relationships with the sport. Be sure to check yourself and ensure that you're running for enjoyment and not putting too much self-inflicted pressure on yourself. Leverage running as a mechanism to better yourself on a spiritual level and take advantage of the wonderful opportunity it provides you with to nurture relationships with other wonderful humans. That's it. If running doesn't make you happy and you're not enjoying it, don't do it. And guess what? That's completely fine! There are copious other forms of movement that are accessible and available for exploration.

Is running really just a big metaphor for life? Science Olympiad?! Garden Gang, say whaa? Tostones?! Wait... did Taylor design a custom speaker for WuTang?! Yikes, we unintentional daddy'in? In S2Ep22 of the PRP, Adam jams with seasoned long distance runner, race pacer extraordinaire, public health guru, proud mama bear and certified running coach Brandess Wallace who has been preparing for the Tunnel Hill 50 mile on November 12th, 2022. Brandess jumps right in and explains how and why her relationship with running is all about connecting with others. Although her involvement in the sport began as a platform for her to challenge herself on an individual level, Brandess spills the tea on why over the years her love affair with running has blossomed into much more than she could ever have imagined.

Shannon Baker, serial running retiree, enthusiastic social worker, proud mother of eleven children (yep you read that right) and Brandess's heterosexual soul mate joins the show to provide insight on her own personal relationship with running as well as what it's meant to be a part of Brandess's journey. The two deep dive on the origins of their friendship, which started as opponents in a friendly neighborhood game of Bunco. From full fledged dice nemeses to running besties, as soon as these two got out for a trot together - the rest was history.

Things get vulnerable when Brandess opens up and provides insight about some recent mental health struggles she has been forced to face. From raising children full-time to being a military spouse and everything in between, Brandess explains how her grapple with depression happened quickly and without her even fully realizing it. In S2Ep21 of the PRP, Adam is enlightened by thriving long distance runner, passionate golfer, engineering extraordinaire, forthright beer enthusiast and proud father, Hayato Shimizu who has been preparing for the New York City Marathon on November 6th, 2022. The lads waste no time and jump straight in to an in depth review of what has been an insanely impressive year for Hayato and his running career. With a broken PR in nearly every possible distance, the PRP listenership is schooled by Hayato's composed and uninhibited outlook on the sport. His secret? Work hard, but don't overthink it, it's that simple. The more pressure you put on yourself, the less enjoyment you will ultimately obtain. Committing yourself to the process and sharing your experiences with others are where the actual awards and benefits from running can be found. The time your watch reads at the finish line is actually quite trivial.

Paul Livingstone, seasoned runner, local running gear merchant, aspiring brewer and one of Hayato's oldest running pals joins the show to offer his take on what the PRP has deemed, The Year of Hayato. From Boston, to Bayshore and now onto New York these two gentlemen have shared a lot of time out on the course in 2022 together and one thing is for certain... Hayato is absolutely on fire at the moment!

Hayato sheds light on his journey to and through running over the past decade and shares his unique approach to how he builds his fitness blocks. For him, running is a pursuit of exploring the best version of yourself and is a journey of one. Before episode close, Hayato and Paul gossip all things Boston vs. New York. Because each of them have raced these events multiple times, they share a distinct credibility to offer opinions on all things from portapotty sitch, starting line logistics, time of year/temperature to overall vibe.

Colleen provides an in depth look at the history of PR Run Club and sheds light on its humble beginnings decades ago. The PRP listenership then learns about her rapid shift from living in the hustle & bustle of a big city to a much more low key lifestyle in Ann Arbor and how running played a major role during this transitory phase of her life.

Shannon Kohlitz, decorated local legend, major PR Run Club OG, video & animation entrepreneur and Colleen’s best friend, joins the show to offer her reticent insight into all things life and running. Although Shannon may be a woman of few words, the words she does choose to share carry some serious weight as she drops stoic tidbits here and there throughout the episode.

Things get vulnerable when Colleen opens up and discusses some of the challenges she has endured while attempting IVF for a number of years. From the physical exhaustion, to the emotional tax, to the financial hardships of the process, Colleen breaks down just how difficult this undertaking can become. In S2Ep19 of the PRP, Adam prattles with blossoming ultra runner, pleasantly intense organizational czar, passionate nature enthusiast and proud dog mama Allegra Krasznekewicz who has been preparing for the Javelina Jundred on October 29th, 2022. The PRP listenership is regaled with an invigorating review of what she has been up to since we last heard from her in Season 1. Some great races and experiences no doubt, but more importantly, Allegra shares some stoic insight into what she has discovered under the surface level of the sport that she never expected to find. Allegra gets vulnerable when she reflects on the courage that it takes to prioritize one’s hobby to such an extreme extent in a society that often times frowns upon one’s career not being the number one priority in life.

Edward Quinn, emerging runner, king of chill, design big wig and Allegra’s better half joins the show to offer his tranquil and inspiring opinions on the intense grit his wife has displayed towards the sport over the past year of her life. For him, running is more about just getting out there rather than performing at a high level - a viewpoint that helps provide a proper yin and yang to their household.

Allegra then deep dives on a thought she has been percolating on recently surrounding connecting her why to something bigger than just bettering herself personally. Running has changed so many aspects of her life, has connected her to an amazing community, and has taught her that she can be more than she ever thought she could be. It’s these reasons that have lead her to feel increasingly motivated to find ways to help spread and share the power of running with others who have not yet discovered the compelling and immeasurable effects that running can wield.

What is a Tommy’s Margarita?! Prezi?? Umm, what the hell is the myrtle routine?! Loop of celebration?? What is EBS? Does the wind chime love Tyler? Who is 4 pass loop Allegra?! The PRP listenership is regaled with the story of how running, although present in his life at a young age, slowly crept back into Jerry's life to take the crown as hobby king - first as means to an end but now as a passionate love affair. Jerry gets vulnerable when admitting that for a stint of time in the early 2000’s he struggled to maintain movement as a core pillar of his life. Add to that a poor diet and before he knew it Jerry found himself in a place where his health, mood and morale were suffering big time. From treadmill walks inside, to slow five minute walk/runs outside, to his first 5K, to his first half marathon Jerry opens up about what that process has meant to him, how he’s tackled it one step at a time, and most importantly he shares some of the key lessons he’s learned along the way.

Brendan Przywara, on again off again runner, digital story telling extraordinaire, video game designer and Jerry’s son joins the show to offer his take on his fathers long and evolving journey. Although Brendan’s high school career as a cross country runner was a primary stakeholder in motivating Jerry to get moving again, he admits that the tables have now turned a bit as he has begun to source movement based inspiration from his father's journey.

The three then deep dive on what it takes to build a race training plan for a first timer. For Jerry, building his own plan of attack to conquer this goal was an important part of the entire process. By picking up tidbits here and there from podcasts and other athletes he is connected with on Strava Jerry was able to create his own plan that provides him with the ample time and grace necessary to be present for himself both personally and professionally.

Who's Pat?! What happened years ago at the Rochester Hills Hometown Hustle?! What the hell is Plunder Panic? Who is Denny from DizRuns Radio and why should you be tuning in to his show?! Ummm, what is Salmon Sunday and are you invited?! Armada Michigan?! Harvard on the Rouge?! We double dipping quotes?! Wait is Jerry secretly grammin’?! All of this and loads more in this accessible, inspirational and encouraging episode of the PRP.

Andrew Dancer & the Grand Rapids Marathon ft. Sydney Dancer

Andrew Dancer & the Grand Rapids Marathon ft. Sydney Dancer

In S2Ep17 of the PRP, Adam gabs with first time marathoner, licensed architect, Michigan enthusiast, proud boat owner and newlywed husband Andrew Dancer who has been preparing for the Grand Rapids Marathon on October 16th, 2022. Drew paints the picture of his insanely busy summer which includes taking six different licensing exams, preparing to teach as a university professor, and the big one - getting married! Naturally, this sounded like the best possible time to sign up to run his inaugural marathon. Like with all great decisions, there may or may not have been a pitcher of margaritas involved in helping persuade him into this bold endeavor.

Sydney Dancer, erratic runner, Canadian native, interior design extraordinaire, proudest damn dog mom East of the Mississippi and Drew's better half joins the show to provide her frame of reference on the past few months while offering overwhelming praise to her new husband for how he has gracefully navigated such a busy time in both of their lives. For Syd, Drew has changed her perspective on running all together and has inspired her to cultivate a new relationship with the sport. A relationship built on positive energy and grace rather than a relationship of frustration and punishment.

The three then take a massive dive deep into the work life balance discussion as Sydney gets vulnerable when sharing why she has become so inspired by her husbands uncanny ability to stay dialed in to his commitments while also providing time for himself to enjoy other aspects of life. Drew has taught her that inspiration in life, whether that be for running, professional pursuits or personal passions is ever changing. The only guarantee? The fact that it will change again. For Drew, running helps serve as a reminder that nothing in life is ever permanent.

Who the hell is Wesley, and can someone please help him get up these stairs?! Ummm, what exact is a Hot Girl Walk?! Oh, we makin' Boo nanners? Story jokes, say whaaa??? Hot sauce on pizza?! Canadian Thanksgiving? Wait, is 99% of the world invisible? How many god damn bridges are there in Grand Rapids? Joe Robinson & the Chicago Marathon ft. Lance Woods

In S2Ep16 of the PRP, Adam symposiums with enthusiastic community builder, budding long distance runner, executive music producer, Lululemon ambassador, co-founder of WeRun313 and proud father of two Joe Robinson who has been preparing for the Chicago Marathon on October 9th, 2022. Joe gets vulnerable as he reflects on how transformative running has been for him over the past few years. As a Detroit native, Joe helps paint the picture of what it was like to grow up in the 313, an environment that didn't provide him with a lot of options for physical activity and certainly not an environment that encouraged running.

Lance Woods, emerging long distance runner, community builder extraordinaire, Asics ambassador and co-founder of WeRun313 joins the show as guest host to offer his tranquil insight on the powerful role running plays in his life. He then provides a stoic lesson about the role running can play in all of our lives if we choose to handle our relationship with the sport in a virtuous way. Lance shares the fortuitous tale how the two met one another and sheds more light on the genesis of WeRun313, Detroit's Premier Running Club

The lads then deep dive on what it means to utilize running as a well for wellness, and share why they are so passionate about helping others in their community discover the benefits they've uncovered below the surface level of the sport. Their authentic work in and around Detroit has quickly & organically become bigger than them both individually, and is now a living, breathing movement with a pulse of it's own. For Joe & Lance, it's simple; all roads lead to WeRun313, a running club that has the unique combination of community, mentorship, speed and of course, the ability to turn up, show out and celebrate like no other!

What is Trivium Racing and why is this organization so key to WeRun 313's success?! What can you learn from the san scrit word dharma? Oh shit, we talking Big Sean?! Ummm, Lance you at a pool with a private saxophonist? Is Pusha T loving’ it? What on earth is a running transmission? What is Bodhicitta and why is now the best possible time for you to become familiar with it? What is your intuitive heart and how can we all leverage stillness when seeking guidance throughout the journey of life? Leviticus?! Hypnotherapy? Mike Tyson?! Jesse Sweeney & the Wasatch 100 ft. Brent McDermott

Jesse Sweeney & the Wasatch 100 ft. Brent McDermott

In S2Ep15 of the PRP, Adam jibber jabbers with eccentrically seasoned runner, rambling legal ace, proud father of three, and prolific Strava follow Jesse Sweeney who has been preparing for the Wasatch 100 on September 9th, 2022.  Jesse deep dives into his long relationship with running and articulates how his journey with the sport has played a major role in nearly ever other aspect of his life. Most uniquely, the PRP listenership is regaled with the tale of how Jesse bravely positioned himself to throw his business and career towards things he loves to do. For him, it means having more frequent access to mountains. Thus was born his independent legal practice that he still operates in both Colorado and Michigan today.

Brent McDermott, enthusiastic community builder, seasoned PRP alumni, founder of Bandit Races and proud dod daddy returns to the show to learn more about the Sweenster while offering his kind and lucid opinions on the significant role running can play in our lives. Brent provides a riveting chronological review of all Bandit '22 events and does not fail to disappoint as he introduces a new segment to the PRP entitled Speed Work

The lads get vulnerable as Jesse shares intimate details about a life threatening health scare he underwent last year. Although he has been fortunate to catch his symptoms early and is blessed to be in a position of proactivity with this condition, he offers a veracious PSA to all who undertake some form of endurance based movement. Jesse's true and unadulterated love for the sport is displayed in hilarious ways throughout the episode as he time and time again inspirationally embodies a lifestyle driven by the lighthouse that is running.

Mr. Feeny? Is Brent a dog-saving hero? Who do ya got, Dr. Seuss or Shel Silverstein? Wait, are bananas radioactive?! Big birthday race, say whaa?! What in tarnation is an ombudsman?! Does Sweeney often cry during trail races whilst listening to his favorite Taylor Swift albums? What exactly are the vulnerability shorts? Have you tried Brent’s famous banana brulee'? Why stress on the deuce? All of this, and tons of other wild ride topics in this humorous and motivational episode of the PRP.

Rob Raux & the Hallucination 100 ft. Sarah Raux

In S2Ep14 of the PRP, Adam gets enlightened by seasoned ultra marathoner, serial entrepreneur, proud father of two and massive nature enthusiast Rob Raux who has been preparing for the Hallucination 100 on September 9th, 2022. Rob displays his poise and maturity towards the sport throughout the episode as he shares some key lessons he's learned in the past decade with the PRP listenership. Perhaps the most profound lesson comes when Rob deep dives on balancing one's internal expectations vs. one's external expectations. Trust yourself, give yourself grace because you're definitely going to make mistakes and most importantly - don't wear yourself down attempting to measure up to other people's expectations of you. You're an experiment of one and your journey is unique and beautiful. Treat it as such!

Sarah Raux, aspiring runner, start-up connoisseur, proud mother of two and Rob's better half joins the show as guest host and offers some truly admirable insight into what it's like to be married to a certified trail fanatic. Although Rob's love affair with running is inspiring to her and the kids, Sarah gets vulnerable and provides intimate details about some of the challenges her and Rob have encountered along the way on their perpetual search for personal passion vs. family responsibility balance. What started as a rocky journey has now paved way for a smooth, mutually understood and absolutely beautiful alliance.

What is Rob's big pet peeve when it comes to the vast world of Strava? Ummm did Rob lift a couch all on his own down several flights of stairs just by wielding the power of love?! What the hell does #metrocountry mean? What exactly is a COVID butler?? Why should you never mess with Napster?! In times of doubt, should one most certainly risk it for the biscuit?! Wait did Rob pick Sarah up by spitting game on AOL instant messenger?! What is the difference between a real salad and a fake salad?? Whoa whoa whoa, hold on... are you telling me that Santa isn't real?! Team pancakes or team waffles? All of this and so much more on this equally hilarious and inspiring episode of the PRP.

Michelle Kay & Ellice Clark & the Ferry Field Women's 5K Time Trial ft. Olivia de Bear

In S2Ep13 of the PRP, Adam round tables with three forceful and compelling local women who have all been preparing for the Ferry Field Women's 5K Time Trial on September 11th, 2022. Michelle Kay, in-patient physical therapist, local running bandit & proud dog mom along with Ellice Clark, full-time graduate student, Bill's Beer Garden enthusiast and perhaps prouder dog mom join the show to break bread about their experiences leading up to this event. What's unique about this episode? Michelle, Ellice & Olivia are not only the event visionaries, creators and organizers - they have also been doing a lion's share of their training for the event together as a team. The three deep dive on why and how working together has really helped to fuel their progress and the gals admit - the best part about the experience is not the fitness they've acquired, it's the relationships with one another that they've strengthened.

Olivia de Bear, local running phenom, proud member of the Run Rabbit team, prolific botanist and PRP alumni joins the show to share more detail about the birth of this concept. As the original thought child of this event years ago, Olivia explains how thrilled she is to finally have the opportunity to cultivate a group of gals who are ready to rumble! The goal for the event? Sub 19 mins for the entire field!!

Ellice gets vulnerable and sheds light on her hesitation to participate in formal races. For her, the sport is more about fun & movement and less about testing yourself on a frequent basis. Michelle then has the opportunity to share her story in more depth for the first time in such a public way. Although the last year of her life has been more challenging than many of us can imagine, she provides the PRP listenership with a profound lesson about how she has slowly taken steps to heal and explains why her reason for running has changed completely.

Ok, what the hell is a run chat and can the gal in Chicago please mute?! Wait, is Ellice a Bill’s Beer Garden VIP? Just how long has Olivia been dreaming of this event? Oh shit, we talking disciplined shoe mileage documentation?! What is that sweet sweet Ferry magic and why should you come out and support this event?! Willy Fink & the Falmouth Elite Mile ft. John Reniewicki

In S2Ep12 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with a professional runner, Under Armour running athlete, Eastern Michigan XC alum and master brewer, Willy Fink who has been preparing for the Falmouth Elite Mile on August 20th, 2022. Willy lays out an in depth review of his approach to building his yearly race schedule and sheds insight into the benefits of competing in shorter distance events. You can race hard and often, meaning more opportunities for success throughout the year.

John Reniewicki, professional runner, Under Armour running athlete, avid outdoorsman and self proclaimed best dressed on the team joins the show as guest host and shares the tale of his journey to becoming a professional athlete. Although John's route to running at this level has been nearly polar opposite to Willy's, he’s been an underdog nearly his entire life, so why should he expect things to be any different now?

The lads deep dive in to the vast and emerging world of Under Armour running and confess that they feel extremely fortune to be on the ground floor of the brand’s rapid evolution into the sport. After all, they’re in Baltimore so that they can live and train within a stones throw of Under Armour HQ. The two then discuss their strategies for internal vs. external motivation and explain how to leverage the talent and vibe of a race to get the best out of yourself.

Jonathan Alsip & the Bigfoot 200 ft. Chaz Hornburg

Jonathan Alsip & the Bigfoot 200 ft. Chaz Hornburg

In S2Ep11 of the PRP, Adam tattles with uniquely talented ultra runner, Michigan State alum, attentive podcast enthusiast, proud cat daddy and Cocodona 250 alumni Jon Alsip who has been preparing for the Bigfoot 200 on August 14th, 2022. Jonathan shares several a tale of his first hand experience running the inaugural Cocodona 250 last year. What did an experience of such epic proportions teach him? He admits he may still be working to figure that out.

Chaz Hornburg, decorated ultra marathoner, recently bestowed father and one of Jonathan's best friends returns for his second time to the PRP as guest host where he offers his calm, cool and at times critical opinion on his best buddy's preparation. It's clear that Jonathan hasn't had the opportunity to put in the physical work he would have liked to during this training block, however, he displays impressive levels of poise and confidence about the challenge that lies ahead. How did Jonathan prepare for outing like this? For races this long, mindset is key. One must have a steady and everlasting vice grip around the mental fortitude to keep pushing. That’s what will truly carry you.

The gentlemen take a a swing at answering the age old question: road running vs. ultra running. Which is best? Perhaps the answer lies with those who have hands in both camps? Before episode close the lads touch on triple digit race milage strategy and what you need to be aware of when it comes to sleep and time management. Code brown is covered in ample format as the reoccurring theme of the "double deucer" finds it's way onto the PRP yet again!

Why is Jonathan kindly asking more from all of us when titling our runs on strava? #content Ummmm, apples n bananas? What the hell is Pukey’s Death March?! What did Jim Walmsley tell Jonathan when they crossed paths in AZ?! What’s a Poto ruler and how do Chaz, Jon & Zac utilize it to succeed in long distance racing? What in god’s name is Cattle Decapitation? Did Chaz one time go neck & neck with Harvey Louis? Is Jonathan strictly race Pringlin?! Why are ultra PR’s so much different than road PR’s? Come get it. Alex Hudgins & the Speedgoat 50K ft. Sam Kirk

In S2Ep10 of the PRP, Adam parleys with seasoned ultra runner, metallurgical engineer, San Fransisco running connoisseur and ultimate adventurer Alex Hudgins who has been preparing for the Speedgoat 50K on July 23rd, 2022. Alex sheds light on his childhood and humbly admits that he is extremely lucky to have been exposed to the outdoors in a multitude of ways at a young age and credits his love for and confidence in nature to his parents. Although Alex throws down some insanely massive runs on the regs, the PRP listenership learns that he only caught the ultra bug in 2017. That being said his combination of XC experience at a collegiate level with his experience in the great outdoors have complimented each other well as he has truly began to blossom as an all around adventurer.

Sam Kirk, small business owner, proud father of two and emerging ultra runner joins the show as guest host and offers his sharp-witted opinions on Alex and all things ultra running. Having just turned 40 and fathering two terrific toddlers, his view on the sport and his "why" have changed dramatically over the past few years and he offers some profound advice on how to be and remain happy by giving yourself grace when training and preparing for larger efforts.

The two Lehigh University alums share some heartfelt insight into the vast world of Strava and provide insight on how they assemble their training blocks to ensure they’re ready when it’s time to rock. Alex shares his two main reasons for loving the sport - A) it has provided him with more confidence when navigating his day-to-day life B) no matter what the circumstance, at the end of a run, he’s always happy. Alex’s keen yet relaxed attitude towards racing and adventuring is truly refreshing and his pure love for spending time in nature shines bright throughout the 'sode.

Michael Loszewski & the Ironman Lake Placid ft. Bill Pressprich

In S2Ep9 of the PRP, Adam gabbers with seasoned triathlete, proud husband and father of two, software salesman extraordinaire and 80’s rock connoisseur Michael Loszewski who has been preparing for Ironman Lake Placid on July 24th, 2022. Michael takes listeners on a deep dive (pun intended) of his fitness journey which began back in 2008 and shares insight into the importance of not being afraid to look silly when first starting out. Michael first showed up at a pool in board shorts, no community and absolutely no clue how to swim. With some curiosity and a touch of consistency, it wasn’t long before he had mentors taking him under their wings and showing him the ropes.

Bill Pressprich, leadership coach, former small business owner and remarkable retiree joins the show as guest host and offers his long-serving insight on all things endurance related. Bill gets vulnerable and shares the story of getting told by a doctor in 2003 that he was on the verge of being morbidly obese. For Bill, that was enough of a fire to begin building his fitness cabin, one log at a time. Now in his seventies, Bill is still competing in assorted triathlons and has plans to tackle a full Ironman sometime next year.

Michael sheds more light into how he got into triathlons, and admits that he didn’t start out thinking this is where he’d end up. The best part of training for tri’s? The ability to be intensely active with less of a chance of injury resulting from overtraining due to varied forms of movement. Michael then shares his unadulterated love for Strava and discusses why he loves encouraging people so much. Never underestimate the power of a kudos, because more often than not, it can be the difference maker for uplifting others in your community. Michael then explains his destination race mentality and explains why, for him, racing is really more about the experience than the results.

Why is a half Ironman completely different than an Ironman? Why does Bill think Michael is a bit crazy? Why are triathletes always writing on their calves?! What’s unique about Michael’s taper routine? Why is Michael dead set on redemption at Boston?! This, and so much more in this captivating and encouraging episode of the PRP.

Evan Hicks & the Battle Creek Half Marathon ft. Eric Zughaib

In S2Ep8 of the PRP, Adam chats it up with 2:41 marathoner, 7:22 beer miler, Notre Dame alumni & product design engineer Evan Hicks who has been preparing for the Battle Creek Half Marathon on July 2nd, 2022. Evan shares details about his adolescence attending Detroit Catholic High School and explains how his introduction to running played a pivotal role in mellowing him out. Evan admittedly excelled at everything he touched as a youngin, so running served him with an immediate dose of humble pie and changed the trajectory of his life forever.

Eric Zughaib, aspiring writer, dog daddy, e-bike enthusiast and the PRP's go-to substitute host joins the show as guest host and displays his talent for hilarious banter coupled with hard hitting follow up questions. Eric gets vulnerable when he shares his outlook on Strava as he explains that he's in a different place in his life with running and fitness right now. As someone who doesn't run everyday because of an significant injury he is recovering from, sometimes it can be hard for Eric to check Strava and see that all of his cronies are crushing massive workouts on the daily.

The PRP listenership is enlightened with Evan's unique (and dare we say corky) approach to training. Rather than focusing on pace or heart rate, Evan focuses on power in the form of metabolic watts. His mantra? In wattage we trust. Evan then shares details about the last couple years of his running life due to COVID, his professional commitments, getting engaged and purchasing a house he hasn't really had the opportunity to put together an all out A race training camp. His outlook on his situation, however, is as refreshing as it gets; it's ok to just have running be something you do. It doesn't need to define you and you don't need to be completely obsessed with it. It's fine if you choose to go all in, but Evan has found that as he's grown up, diversifying his interests have helped him mature and grow both as a human being and as a runner. Evan then shares his gratitude for his running community and explains why he appreciates the transparency of Strava so much. Why does Evan continue to be so passionate about the sport? Easy answer - it's the community aspect that keeps him coming back for more.

Why Evan be flippin those pages so loudly? Did Evan throw up on a girl in his debut XC race?! What is Evan's extremely hot take on Strava kudos criteria? How does Evan leverage his love for pacing into working out and staying in shape?! What exactly is positive peer pressure?! Ummm why does Evan have minions on his nipples?! Brandon Doughty & the USATF Championships 3000m Steeplechase ft. Johnny Crain

In S2Ep7 of the PRP, Adam shoots the breeze with professional runner, Under Armour athlete, four-time Big 12 Champion at University of Oklahoma, dog owner extraordinaire & Harry Potter aficionado Brandon Doughty who has been preparing for the USATF Championships 3000m Steeplechase on June 23rd, 2022. Brandon opens up about his unique rise in the sport coming from humble beginnings in West Virginia where he admits that his unfamiliarity with the college athletics system played a large role in where he ended up. Brandon provides an in depth review of the dynamics of the steeplechase and explains why having a perpetual chip on his shoulder has aligned well with the overall vibe of the event.

Johnny Crain, recent 2:12 marathoner, running coach, capitol city proponent, decorated PRP guest host and Brandon's best friend returns to the show and remains true to his profound outlook and earnest vibe in all things life and running. Both Johnny & Brandon shed light into the importance of their relationship; being that they are both currently self coached, the ability to have daily conversations with one another where they can bounce and float ideas around has been an absolute blessing for each of them. A non traditional living situation perhaps, but one they both admit they wouldn't trade for anything in the world. Although both gentlemen are also running coaches, the two humbly admit that they've never coached anyone who's at the level they've reached, so it truly is a day by day practice that takes loads of patience.

Brandon gets vulnerable when he discusses the last year of his life which has included: an impromptu move from Arizona to Michigan, leaving a team & coach that he had been working with for over 3 years and recovering from major injury. Although relocating and restarting his life has definitely been the right decision for him, Brandon admits that at times it has been difficult to deal with each individual aspect. Brandon is a man of emotional highs and emotional lows, he's not often in the middle which is precisely why he loves running. Big peaks and valleys guy. Even though Brandon has been a professional runner for nearly a decade, his recent struggle with injury has humbled him in variety of positive ways. Always be a student of the sport and never compare yourself to others; if you feel you must compare yourself to something, do so to yesterday's version of yourself. That's it.

Just how tenacious is Mr. No Doubt Doughty?! Does Brandon have mad love for the complete banana spectrum? What is the plight of the steeplechaser? We talkin' Harry Potter quizzes?! How generous is UA to their athletes, and how much drip does Brandon get hooked up with?  What the hell is haglunds deformity? What is the difference between a big Q & a little q? How many pints did the lads drink in Northern Ireland the night before they won a big race?! All of this and so much more in this vulnerable and encouraging episode of the PRP.

In S2Ep6 of the PRP, Adam welcomes back first time ultra marathoner, recent Masters of Public Health Graduate, thrifter extraordinaire and holistic herbivore Kayla Romero who has been preparing for the War Hammer 50K in London, Kentucky on June 11th, 2022. Kayla gets vulnerable out of the gates as she regales the PRP listenership with an in depth review of the Detroit Marathon last Fall. Although things didn't exactly go her way, she has remained undeterred from tearing it up as her running career continues to blossom. The biggest lesson she has learned in the past 9 months? Preparation is paramount. Overlook the prep and you can saddle up for a one way ticket to bonk town!

Trinity Webb, recent Masters of Public Health Graduate, sterling crafter and American Sign Language maven joins the show as guest host and offers her astute views on the running, nutrition and unique Minnesotan slang. Trin gets vulnerable and opens up about some struggles she has encountered with running throughout her life and shares tremendous insight about how she has combatted each one.

The two discuss their upcoming dietetic internships and try to answer the inevitable question... what's next in life?! A career in the clinic or a career in policy? Perhaps one day a hybrid of both?! The two then discuss their weight neutral approaches to nutrition and fitness as they stress the theme of body positivity and the importance of education beyond foolish fad dieting and "trending" weight loss schemes. Before episode close, Kayla dials it up 1 (800) vulnerable as she deep dives into her battle with facing her own self doubt and insecurity about running long distances by herself. Although she has race experience under her belt, this will be the first solo attempt of her career.

What is a S'mores mom? How many damn bananas are in the studio for this episode?!  What the hell does the term "let's go mockin" mean?! Ummm, is Kayla a banana elitist? Is Trin a running purist?! This and loads more in this graceful and playful episode of the PRP.

Melissa Sundermann & Christine Stead & the A2Zukey Marathon Relay

Melissa Sundermann & Christine Stead & the A2Zukey Marathon Relay

In S2Ep5 of the PRP, Adam symposiums with two prolific seasoned runners, local community enthusiasts, and positive energy powerhouses Melissa Sundermann & Christine Stead who have been preparing for the A2Zukey Marathon Relay on Saturday June 11th, 2022. Melissa, a board certified physician in both internal medicine & lifestyle medicine and Christine, the CEO of Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO), jump right into the vulnerability waters and discuss the importance of community when it comes to running and being present to encourage others. The two discuss their personal backgrounds in the sport and provide wonderful context into the multitude of ways people can get involved in running. The two also highlight the paramount work that organizations like Bandit Races, Ann Arbor Running Company and Ann Arbor Track Club conduct to provide accessible, inclusive and safe opportunities for the community to connect and challenge one another.

The vulnerability train strides forward as Melissa and Christine discuss the value of their tight knit running group, or as they refer to it, their tribe. For the tribe, running is a true sense and feeling of freedom; physically, mentally, but most importantly, emotionally. There is something special about how authentic one can become while running, and the two admit that honestly their tribe is more of a life group that runs, rather than a running group that chats. The conversation then pivots to discussing the significance and physiological benefits of nature and spending time outside. Although this tribe resides in Michigan, you bet your bottom dollar that they hit the trails even in those bone chilling winter months.

The PRP listenership is then regaled with the heartbreaking but inspiring story of Karen McKeachie, who tragically passed away in a biking accident in 2016. Karen, who was a world-class triathlete, athletic pioneer, community leader, and a force of nature is the source of inspiration for what is now the Huron Waterloo Pathways Initiative. As passionate board members serving to empower this campaign, Melissa and Christine intimately discuss why it has been the privilege of their lifetimes to be involved in this unique opportunity to honor Karen's legacy by helping start a project that focuses on providing safe, scenic and free access to nature and trails in SE Michigan.

What are the six pillars of lifestyle medicine and why should you strongly consider getting familiar and cozy with all of them?! What is the significance of the term, running for world peace? What are phytoncides, and why should you care about them? What on earth is ECMO? How many different forms can mentorship embody?!

This, and SO MUCH MORE in this enlightening, refreshing and encouraging episode of the PRP.

Lindsay Green & the Bayshore Marathon ft. Adam Hughes

Lindsay Green & the Bayshore Marathon ft. Adam Hughes

In S2Ep4 of the PRP, Eric babbles with first time marathoner, recent Masters of Public Health Graduate, lifelong Michigander and aspiring culinary artist Lindsay Green who has been preparing for the Bayshore Marathon on Saturday May 28th, 2022. Lindsay shares insight into her unique entry into the running space and explains how being immersed in community of obsessive runners can be both good and bad at times. As someone who doesn't have a tremendous background in youth sports, Lindsay explains how she has gone about preparing herself physically and mentally to harness the self-confidence necessary to tackle such a monumental obstacle.

Adam Hughes, passionate trail runner, aspiring climate activist and Lindsay's better half joins the show as guest host and offers a story or two by way of his lens as Lindsay's coach throughout training camp. Adam shares insight into how he has had the privilege to witness Linds leverage her successes on the pavement & trail into successes in other aspects of her life, and visa versa. Being exposed to ultra running before pavement running through her partner, Linds got a unique peek at diversity and good natured energy of the sport and just like that a seed was planted, "Perhaps I can do this?!"

Linds gets vulnerable and explains how a compounding set of factors lead to a massive training low just weeks out from the race. After months of sweat equity, bloody toes and chaffed skin, however, she has cultivated some serious positive momentum and is determined to push forward. Her belief? You can be a runner, no matter your appearance or your history with being active. Don't let society & social media dictate what body types can and can't be successful in the sport. She has absolutely no apologies for her style of running and is completely ay-ok to go her own pace. Before episode close, Linds shares her appreciation for strava, and explains why for her, it is strictly a platform to encourage her friends & community, not a place for competition or obsessing about data.

What the hell is a mandolin and why should you beware of them?! What's wrong with Lindsay and why does she LOVE to run in Winter?!
What in tarnation is Beaver Butt Vanilla and why should you be aware of it?! What does LTYB mean and why should you care? Ummm why was Lindsay collecting her own poop and examining it for scientific purposes?? Just how enormous are the blisters on both of Lindsay's big toes?!! This, and oh so much more in this light hearted and body positive episode of the PRP.

Dan Hughes & the Huron 100 ft. Lauren Hughes

Dan Hughes & the Huron 100 ft. Lauren Hughes

In S2Ep3 of the PRP Adam schemes with seasoned ultra marathoner, emergency veterinarian, life long trail enthusiast and aspiring race director Dan Hughes who has been preparing for the inaugural running of the Huron 100 on May 21st, 2022. The Huron 100 is a 100 mile point to point trail race through the Huron River watershed. The course features 8 different parks throughout Southeast Michigan and highlights all the immaculate beauty the region has to offer. What is so unique about today's episode? This epic course was methodically created and designed by our guest, Mr. Dan Hughes, who has spent the better part of 2 years scouting, adventuring and plotting in the area with hopes of one day making his dream a reality.

Lauren Hughes, budding ultra marathoner, crew chief extraordinaire and Dan's better half, joins the show as guest host an offers her poised insight on just how much time and effort has gone into this project. Lauren humbly displays her stoic approach to life whilst sharing details about how she supports both her daughters and her husband in their life endeavors; provide tools, emotional stability and allow them to make their own decisions and chase the dreams that make them happy.

The PRP listenership is regaled with the tale of how Dan took this project from conception to implementation. How many times did Lauren drop Dan off in the middle of the woods at night and how many emergency trail burrito deliveries have been made over the past 2 years?! Dan provides a lens into his unique life schedule and explains how the craziness of his day-to-day has lead him to his quirky training & race preparation. The pillars of his approach? Run when you have the opportunity, do the running that makes you happy and be open to where life takes you. Dan then shares what he's learned from Strava over the years; broaden your community, follow a larger swath of people and this will ultimately lead to a better relationship with the platform.

Before episode close, Dan provides fascinating insight into what has likely been the the most difficult factor in assembling this course: designing it for a personal project use case vs designing to be a proper and sanctioned race. A river crossing in the middle of the night with a buddy is one thing, but shepherding hundreds of exhausted runners across the Huron River at night safely is a whole different beast. Dan's ultimate plan for inaugural race day? Listen to his body, listen to the earth, and most importantly, listen to his wife.

How many trees is Dan actually friends with? How does Dan flip training lows and turn them into training highs?! How many times did Dan run certain sections of this course to ensure that he was comfortable navigating them on race day? What's next for the Huron 100 and how can YOU get involved in helping build this tremendous event?!?! All of this and oh so much more in this motivating and unique episode of the PRP.

Mina Wageh Ebrahem & the Cocodona 250

Mina Wageh Ebrahem & the Cocodona 250

In S2Ep2 of the PRP, Adam is enlightened by Egyptian native turned NYC enthusiast, seasoned ultra marathoner and physical therapist Mina Wageh Ebrahem who has been preparing for the Cocodona 250 on May 2nd, 2022. Having just ran Boston only a couple weeks ago, Mina opens up about an injury he sustained last fall and explains how his approach to preparation over the past few months has been different than normal. Mina gets vulnerable and opens up about the struggles he experienced living in NYC during the pandemic; as someone who was working in nursing homes, he credits his tailored history as a distance runner as the primary source fueling his desire to stay and continue to help those in need. The PRP listenership then learns why and how Mina's unique upbringing and personal story has given birth to the holistic way he approaches training and wellness in general. His mantra? Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. If you're not doing this, then stop it!

For the first time in PRP history, no guest host joins the show, which provides ample time for Mina to apprise the audience with his masterclass strategies for scheduling out his calendar year of races. Before COVID, Mina was putting in 15-20 solid race performances a year, a statistic that is equal parts amazing and insane. Mina shares some brilliant stories about how running has become a massive part of his social life as he artfully gabbers about some of his experiences hitting the NYC streets with his running club Orchard Street Runners. Mina then opens up about his relationship with Strava (an app that he was hesitant to start using for years) and discusses why, for him, it is primarily a community platform that extends far beyond the boundaries of running. Strava has given Mina the ability to connect with individuals in an innovative and unique way and he is forever grateful to those responsible for bringing this platform to life.

Mina & Adam get into the race-strategy weeds as Mina tells the tale of his recent top 10 finish at the Bigfoot 200 in August '21. How does he do it?! His approach is a combination of compartmentalizing aid stations and running chapter by chapter along with following these few simple rules: Eat, Drink, Dance and Go! In true-to-Mina form, he then emphasizes the importance of engaging with other runners in the field. In his not-so-humble opinion, if you're not enjoying yourself and building new relationships along the way, you're missing the mark.

What is Mina's secret nutritional ingredient that he never races without? What is Mina's hot take on race prep and why is being over prepared for your race a bad thing? Does Mina hate morning runs?! What is so unique about Mina's first marathon story?! Is Mina's "A goal" for every single race the same, and if so, what is it?! Who were the two beautiful women speaking Arabic that Mina met in the middle of the night in the Moab desert? Ummm, is Mina booking Airbnb's at aid stations during his races based on his course progress? Wait, wait, wait... does Mina not lean on the support of a crew for these epics outings on the trail?!? All of this and SO MUCH MORE in this fulfilling and enlightening 1-on-1 edition of the PRP.

Olivia de Bear & the Eugene Marathon ft. Johnny Crain

Olivia de Bear & the Eugene Marathon ft. Johnny Crain

In the season 2 premier of the PRP, Adam chats it up with seasoned running enthusiast, aspiring botanist and Wayne State XC Alumni Olivia de Bear who has been preparing for the Eugene Marathon on May 1st, 2022. Olivia gets vulnerable out of the gates as she shares the story of how her recent COVID diagnosis has made the taper period for this race a bit strange. Although she is lucky enough to be in good health and even more impressive, good spirits, she explains her frustration as it relates to losing her "C-card" this close to race day. Olivia shares some insight into her busy but fulfilling career as a PA, and has tips for runners that may be confined to a work schedule that can be a bit unpredictable.

Johnny Crain, former NCAA Division III National Champion and Elliptigo World Champion, joins the show as guest host and offers his earnest and refreshing insight into how running should fit into the grand equation of life. As Olivia's coach, Johnny's main focus is centered around what works for her specifically utilizing a day-to-day approach that places emphasis on her overall wellness as a human being. Control what you can, make the right decisions when given the opportunity and don't sweat the rest, an approach that Johnny has infamously deemed #wickedbonkproof

Olivia takes a deep dive into the vast world of her running community and shares why having such a tight knit group of homies to trot with on a reoccurring basis is so important to her. Whether it be her brothers from other mothers Mikel Gurrea and Nirala Singh that she shares countless miles with, or her husband Kevin who locks things down at the crib while Olivia is gone for 8 hours every Sunday morning - without her crew, she selflessly admits she wouldn't be the runner nor the person she is today. Olivia then takes listeners on a tour of her childhood and explains how, surprisingly, she had very little experience with running or youth sports in general before walking on at Wayne State. For her, having the opportunity to run in college ended up being one of the true gifts of her lifetime, as it opened the door to countless opportunities (including finding her husband) that she is still reaping the benefits from today.

What is Olivia's hot take on Strava and how does she utilize the platform to stay more intimately connected with her running crew?! Can dogs really run 50+ mile weeks?? Ummm why was Olivia converting Youtube videos to mp3 files until just a couple of months ago?! Why did Olivia think her running career was over after the Bayshore marathon in 2015?!?! Is Olivia on a redemption tour trying to break all of her college PR's??? All this, and oh so much more in this amusing and wellness-centered episode of the PRP.

Stephanie Boykin & the Canyonlands Half Marathon ft. Matt Barrett

Stephanie Boykin & the Canyonlands Half Marathon ft. Matt Barrett

In this special bonusode of the PRP Adam babbles with first time half marathoner, whimsical dog enthusiast and exuberant nature-lover Stephanie Boykin who has been preparing for the Canyonlands Half Marathon on March 19th, 2022. Although Stephanie only discovered her curiosity for running earlier this calendar year, it is clear she is full steam ahead, writing her own story and not spending any time worrying about what others think. Steph gets vulnerable and shares her insight on how discovering running has enabled her to turn her competitive nature inward on herself, a practice that is further enhancing her ability to mature as an adult. In addition, listeners learn why a recent shift in her professional career has enabled her to balance the grand equation of life. Working from home, not having to answer the phone after hours and slating lunch-time training runs with her dog, Hanni, have all been huge factors in her success & wellness recently.

Matt Barrett, accomplished ultra runner, flourishing mortgage lender and Stephanie's better half joins the show as guest host and offers his even-keeled & zen-like approach towards running. Matt's mantra? Find your own way. From training to nutrition to gear to community, there isn't one single approach that works for everyone. Things get deep with Matt shares he unique outlook on the concept of time and explains how and why he applies this philosophy to running. Life isn't meant to be all positive or all negative; the beauty in life lies in the ebbs and flows and running is a great way to experience that concept in a visceral way.

The PRP listenership is enlightened with the tale of how Stephanie's mindset rapidly changed after simply getting out there for a couple of weeks. Fueled initially by her two sisters "fan-girling" her early runs, she soon realized that there was much more to running than she had ever imagined. Steph gets vulnerable and admits that before running, she wasn't really checking in with herself mentally and emotionally - but running has completely flipped that. Her time on the pavement and trails has provided her with a new instrument to maintain her mental health, and she couldn't be happier about it. Before episode close, Stephanie shares her refreshing outlook and approach to social media whilst explaining her hesitation to jump into the vast world of Strava. For her, keeping her running community intimate and close to home at the moment, is the right move.

Why is Steph decked out from head to toe in highlighter colors?! Who is the hell is Austin and what does he have to do with the PRP? What’s the difference between a kid turd and a cat turd?! What is Matt's hot take on how to train for a half marathon?? What traumatic experience did Steph undergo that has caused her to go #laceless for life?!?! All this and so much more in this jubilant, hilarious and vulgar episode of the PRP.

Michael McKnight & the Across The Years 24 Hour ft. Sarah McKnight

In the season 1 finale of the PRP, Adam connects with professional ultra-runner, eccentric omnivore, father of two and budding philanthropist Michael McKnight who has been preparing for the Across The Years 24 Hour on December 30th, 2021. Michael dives in and gets vulnerable from the jump as he shares some of the difficulty he encounters when trying to explain to others the entire scope of what his athletic pursuits entail. What's different about the race Michael is aiming to conquer? He will be attempting to run the entire thing while ingesting absolutely 0 calories along the way. Michael explains both the genesis of his curiosity about his diet and shares why his past relationship with food fuels his current diet fire; while also touching on the story of how a dear friend of his, Jeff Browning, introduced him to the keto game at the inception of their relationship.

Sarah McKnight, avid cycler, crew chief extraordinaire and Michael's wife joins the show as guest host and offers some wonderfully raw insight into the world of supporting Mike through his extreme endeavors. Although she is thrilled that the keto lifestyle he has adopted has clearly enhanced his performance and overall wellness, there have definitely been some major learning curves along the way while supporting his diet while raising a family with two young children. Did Michael decide to start a strict keto diet on the exact same day his first child was born?! The three take a deep dive into some of the day-to-day difficulties involved when it comes to fasting windows and not eating carbs and admit that the nutrition piece of Michael's athletic package is likely the most difficult and inconvenient to manage.

Michael shares some tremendous insight into the origins of the plan for this race and explains how it evolved from a low key solo endeavor to a big experiment with several contributors, analysts and scientists. He shares in depth detail into his teams plan to gather and analyze data from his body before, during and after the race. Mike is the first to raise his hand admit that the current keto data out there isn't super favorable and there is still loads of scientific unknowns about whether or not this kind of approach is good for the body. With so many people following his journey and supporting him, he feels that it is his responsibility do what he can to collect information about his techniques and share it with the world. Before wrapping, Michael shares some keen insight on how to approach Strava to serve your own purposes. What truth did Michael discover on an innocent day in Zion, UT?! What is Mike's powerful advice for those struggling with running? Why is Michael peeing in a cup multiple times during this race?! How many needles are involved in this whole shindig?! What personal FKT project does Michael currently have planned for October 2022?! All that, and so much more in this upbeat and unique episode of the PRP.

Zach Crim & the Jackson County 50 Mile ft. Chaz Hornburg

Zach Crim & the Jackson County 50 Mile ft. Chaz Hornburg

In episode 15 of the PRP, Adam sits down with talented ultra marathoner, super dad, public relations strategist and Lansing community cognoscente Zach Crim who has been preparing for the Jackson County 50 Mile on December 4th, 2021. From the onset of the conversation, it's clear that Zach is an individual that doesn't ever pursue anything in life with less than a 100%, full on dedicated approach. Whether that be rocking as super dad for the day, to raising six figures for his local Crim Fitness Foundation by bringing individuals together through the power of sport, to tackling audacious trail racing goals. If Zach gets zero'd in on something, he is going to pursue it aggressively and he is going to approach it with a winning mentality. Although Zach has only been racing since 2019, his history as a competitive wrestler through childhood and college has propelled him to immediately excel in the sport. He shares the tale of incurring repetitive injuries in college which ultimately lead to him stepping away to pursue other interests. Through his twenties he fell away from being consistently physically active, until he had the distinguished honor of bringing new life into the world. The birth of his daughter, Sadie, inspired Zach to get back to being more active, and he quickly found that running ultra marathons were a tremendous outlet that enabled him to scratch his never ending need for adventure while also allowing him to be a present and positive daily influence in his daughter's life.

Chaz Hornburg, equally talented ultra marathoner and Lansing big dog joins the show as guest host and the three take an immediate deep dive into the vast world of FKT's. How many combined FKT's do these gentlemen hold in the great state of Michigan, and how many times have they passed the crown(s) back and forth?! It's clear that the relationship Zach and Chaz share with one another is a primary driver in their love and relentless pursuit of the sport. Zach gets vulnerable and shares his strategy for race preparation and reflects on what he has learned thus far in his career about his tendency to overdue it at times. His recent adoption of the Roche training mentality has helped him tremendously in his ability to let off the gas in certain moments of training camp and trust that his fitness is where it needs to be. He also shares his keen and molded perspective on: being worried vs. being prepared, visualization (of success and failure), embracing pain, taking ownership of the process every single day, and finally his uninterrupted pursuit of constant forward progress and finishing number one, no matter the competition.

What level of praise do these gentlemen provide for female ultra runners? What does Zach's mantra "beware of the chair" mean?!  How many consecutive races is Zach's current podium streak at?!?! Did Chaz purpose to his wife at the end of an ultra marathon? What race will Zach and Chaz be facing off against one another at in 2022?! All this and so much more in this inspirational and champion-minded episode of the PRP.
