HYPE TRAIN GO CHOO-CHOO
Sometimes the hype pays off, and sometimes the hype leaves everyone involved with a (sadly) literal price on their ends.
We run through some of these instances, from Cyberpunk 2077 to the New Star Wars Trilogy.
It FEEEEEELSSS like a Comic Book Game
The Doof one-mans a barrage of comic book games, some good, some bad, and one Superman 64.
He also gets super hype like an idiot over Marvel Knights for a bit too.
Adaptations? In this economy?
Headspace and The Doof run through what makes or breaks adaptations, since writing original stories and premises is a unicorn of sorts within the modern film industry it seems.
We also run through some video game adaptations and anime adaptations as well!
Enjoy!
No Such Thing as a Level Cap (Redux)
Across all schools of thought and practice, whether it be in the form of manga, or music, engineering, or even psychology...all of these disciplines have a level of mastery in which all participants can achieve.
There's a certain beauty that comes from being able to express one's self in such a way that it truly becomes a different language, one that can't quite be understood from the perspective of a listener, but totally grasped by the practitioner.
From authors, to visual artists, down to video games or shows, there are thoughts or ideas brought outward that represents both a technical understanding of how things come together and a sensitivity on what works most harmoniously within the composition. Having a high sense in both areas is a form of mastery, and when you listen to your favorite artists grow with every passing album or notice that your game's sequel surpasses it's predecessor in every way, you'll know exactly what I mean when I say it is a form of magic.
That's what this episode is about, an honest conversation/love & hate letter to growth and mastery.
Niggas With RPG's vs The Entire DC Fandome of 2020
First and foremost, truly RIP to the late Chadwick Boseman. Finding out he passed was the last thing I truly expected 2020 to throw our way before it leaves on January 1st. Even crazier than the fact that he passed, was the fact that he kept his illness under wraps in between filming. True king shit.
On a lighter note, this episode in particular is fucking DENSE.
Jai (The Doof) and I talk about the DC Fandome event, the trailers we saw from that (Which included The Batman trailer with Robert Pattinson as the man himself), and of course some good ol tangents that converge into the second discussion point- Role playing Games.
Is This a JoJo Reference type beat? Featuring The Doof
An hour long ramble with a dear friend of mine. We go through JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Punisher, the MCU, the problem with superman and a whole lot of other tangents. Definitely some of the most fun I've had while the world has been shut down, and hope to do many more like this soon.
No More Monkeys
You ever want that voice in your head that summons insecurities or intrusive thoughts to shut up?
You're not alone, friend. That same annoying monkey is within all of us, and here in this episode I offer some insight on how to make peace (and not war) with said monkey.
