Building Support Systems in the BIPOC Community
PREVNet’s National Youth Advisory Committee invites Catalina Martinez (Antigonish Women's Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association) to talk about building support systems in the BIPOC community. Catalina and the NYAC discuss how youth can identify support networks and ensure they have appropriate support systems, internalized stigma, empathy, and mindfulness, and recognizing signs of trauma.
Building Support Systems in the 2SLGBTQIA+ Community
PREVNet’s National Youth Advisory Committee invites Lee Fraser (University of Manitoba, Egale Canada) to discuss building support systems in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Lee and the NYAC cover tips for finding your support systems, the importance of building support systems that respect your identity and pronouns, and setting boundaries. They also discuss facing multiple facets of oppression, advice for youth figuring out their identity, and things they wish young people and adults knew about supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.
