The New P&L - Principles & Leadership in Business

The New P&L - Principles & Leadership in Business

By The New P&L - Principles & Leadership in Business Institute

We believe in a New 'P&L' for business: one focused as much on Principles & Leadership as Profit & Loss, because we know that if your principles are right and aligned with your purpose, and your leadership has clarity of vision and is strong and empathetic, then your business will be in profit and not in loss in many ways. Each week we interview entrepreneurs and business people to understand their views on the importance of Principles and Leadership, and how to work together to build more productive, collaborative, creative and ultimately successful businesses. www.principlesandleadership.com

The New P&L TO THE POINT on Pushing Empathy Upwards
The New P&L TO THE POINT on Pushing Empathy Upwards
This week on The New P&L TO THE POINT, we discuss why its important to have a balance of empathy between leadership and employees in a business. We  ask whether it is harder for employees to have empathy for senior leadership due to a lack of a shared experience of senior leadership or management roles and whether this is a big part of the challenge for empathy in business – that there is an imbalance and as a result, empathy is more frequently focused on employees and less on senior management or business owners. The New P&L speaks to Sue Fennessy, Founder and CEO of WeAre8, The People’s Social Media Platform
This week on The New P&L we speak to the phenomenal Sue Fennessy, serial tech entrepreneur and Founder and CEO of WeAre8, The People’s Platform.  Anyone living in the UK will have no doubt seen WeAre8’s nationwide advertising campaign featuring the voice of England football legend, Rio Ferdinand. WeAre8’s ambition is to play a role in redirecting some of the billions of ad dollars going to social platforms back to people and the planet, delivering transformational results for advertisers in the process. Sue is a serial entrepreneur and is also founder, largest shareholder, and former CEO of the world’s leading media data aggregation business, Standard Media Index, which works with some of the world’s leading media and finance companies including Comcast, NBC, Disney, Warner Media, FOX, Discovery, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs and more.  With a unique view of the $450B digital advertising market, Sue became obsessed with the lack of effectiveness, transparency and waste in major digital platforms and the damaging effect this was having on content creators, people and the planet. For the last six years, through WeAre8, Sue has been focused on building the antidote to this broken system to create a platform where people are loved, valued and rewarded all while uniting to help save the planet in just two minutes a day. We discuss with Sue: · The foundational values that underpin WeAre8 · What led to the launch of the social platform · WeAre8’s engagement and revenue model · What the industry’s response has been to WeAre8’s disruptive approach · What will drive real change in the social media space · Why the impetus to change needs to come from the VCs and investors not just the platforms · What its ‘platform free from hate’ slogan means in practise · How the management of user data has been reshaped on WeAre8 · What lies behind WeAre8’s successful commercial engagement model · What continues to inspire Sue after 30 years in entrepreneurship To learn more, go to: www.weare8.com Download the WeAre8 app at the Apple Store App Store or Google Play Store If you’d like to join The New P&L movement for more principled leadership and more purpose-led business and keep up to date with all our latest news, go to www.principlesandleadership.com and subscribe.
