It’s great that you have a website, or a Facebook Business Page or a LinkedIn Company page for your business.

But have you registered your business and made it an official legal business?

If you haven’t as yet, then you need to listen to what I am going to be sharing in this video.

Just having a name for your business and creating a website with that name, does not make you an official business. To be an official legal business, you need to register your business entity with your state if you’re in the U.S. or with your country’s necessary business formation office in other countries.

When you register, there are certain legal steps that you fulfill to be an official legal business.

So there are several ways that you can register your business.

Do you feel like your business needs some type of change, but not sure what?

So you might be thinking that your business is in need of a change maybe you are no longer getting the leads and sales that you once had or you might not be able to keep employees or you think you are not targeting the right goals for your business.

Whatever it is, the point is that you are feeling like your business needs some kind of transformation.

If not, you might have to close your doors, right?

You, as the leader of the organization, have a crucial role in the transformation of the business.

Study.com defines a Business Transformation Consultant as an individual who is hired by a business or organization to help them to “define future business goals and how to achieve those goals.”

Remember that you are thinking about getting help in your business because something is not right about how it is functioning and you want to change that

So the business transformation consultant will assess the current state of your business, evaluate how you are currently operating, and identify how effective you are reaching the goals that you outlined for your business.

Did you know that coaching is an intervention?

Interventions are one of the many things that I enjoyed working with in the schools. The interventions were for students or for employees. They were at the individual, group, or system levels. 

Coaching as an intervention can be provided by individuals within an organization or outside of an organization.

As an entrepreneur or a small business owner, more than likely you would be seeking coaching from someone outside of your organization.

The biggest perk with having an external coach is that person is likely to be brining you experiences and beneficial strategies that worked in several organizations, not just one.

So that got me to thinking about why someone should hire a business coach, which then got me to think about things that people can consider before they hire a business coach.

Again, hiring a business coach is not an automatic thing to do if you are an entrepreneur.

There is the possibility that you don’t need a business coach

So in this episode, I share with you 4 things that I wanted to share with you for your to consider before hiring a business coach.

Mark Amend said that “rejection doesn’t mean you aren’t good enough; it means that the other person failed to notice what you have to offer.”

Rejection is a part of the entrepreneurial journey.

It’s what you do after the rejection that matters.

People don’t like to be sold. I think we can all agree with that.

But we also don’t like to be rejected.

Let’s be honest. No one likes to be rejected

It’s not a great feeling at all.

It brings out all those feelings of why and self-doubt.

You know what I’m talking about.

We start asking ourselves:

“why am I doing this?”

“why did I leave that great paying job I had?”

“Why doesn’t anyone want my product or service?”

“I guess my family was right, this business was a bad idea coz I don’t know what I’m doing.”

These negative thoughts creep in simply because we are getting rejected and we don’t have a way to deal with that rejection.

But we have to learn how to regulate those emotions, those negative disruptive emotions

But there’s something that I remind myself in the face of rejection. In this episode, I share about what that is that I remind myself about.

Sometimes we look at something and believe that it’s a problem but we don’t do any real analysis to be sure that it is the true problem or challenge.

I'm talking about putting more money into the marketing strategy that was not thought out and is not working.

Signing up for 5 different courses because their description or title matches the problem that you believe you have

Signing up for more networking groups because one of them has to be helping you.

Purchasing a new computer program, graphic design program, or more automations.

Maybe buy 2 more $10K webinars that were created by people who say that they have made 6 or 7 figures because they must have the answer.

But here’s the thing....those aren’t working for you and it’s because you were missing something in your business.

In this episode, I will be sharing with you how you can figure out what you do after you know the issues or challenges facing you in your business.

Would you let a doctor perform surgery on you without reviewing and signing an agreement?

Just take a few seconds to answer that question. But then again, you probably did not even have to think about it. You knew your answer right away. 

There are several mistakes that we all make when we are starting and growing our micro and small businesses.

Some of those mistakes can be VERY damaging.

Think of that question that I asked at the beginning. We make sure to protect ourselves, so that's why we don't let a medical doctor perform surgery without an agreement. Yet, when it comes to our small businesses, many of us rush to do work with others without any agreements. 

For instance, are you using only verbal agreements with others that you are working with? Verbal agreements can be very damaging. 

In this episode, I will be sharing with you one way that you can be protecting your business.

“I couldn’t grow my business because I kept pretending that it was doing fine” - that's something that I had to admit to so that I could grow my business. 

Think of the many times that people have asked you:

How are you doing?

How’s your business?

And then what do we say….

“I’m fine. My business is fine.”

When we really know that things are not fine. You’re not fine and your business is not fine.

But for some reason, we feel so compelled to say that things are fine

Why are we pretending?

Here’s my thought….

We are pretending because we don’t want to say out loud that we’re not fine because as soon as we say it, then that means we have to deal with it. So rather than deal with it, we pretend and deal with problems and issues alone, then before we know it, we are feeling burnt out. 

But it's possible for us to prevent burning out. There is a simple and easy support that we can get, but you might not realize that it’s available.

In this episode, I will be sharing with you one support that you can use so you can stop pretending and actually be fine.

Coaching is a great opportunity for you to get help, but sometimes, we may need to work in a group to get added perspectives.

Remember the quote that I started with “The power of the many exceed the power of one.”

So this where a peer advisory board can come in handy for you and your business.

There are several different types and levels of peer advisory board and I highly recommend that you research your options instead of picking the very first one that you come across.

When you are starting to lose satisfaction in completing tasks and actions for your business, chances are that your levels of burnout are increasing and your motivation is decreasing.

I have spoken with entrepreneurs in several industries and they all agree that not taking action with damage any business to the point that the business stops.

Without taking action, how do you expect your business to grow?

Without taking meaningful action, how do you expect to have a successful business?

It’s great to have a plan that includes goals

It’s great to engage in learning new skills to help your business

But if you don’t take action, none of that matters.

17% of small businesses fail because they do not have a business plan

You might not think that number is high, but what if you were in that 17%. Looks different now, doesn’t it.

Have you thought about the plan for your business?

Seriously, you need to think about the plan for your business and actually write one out!

But having a written plan does not automatically mean that you are going to be successful. Because there are so many parts to the plan and we need to ensure that we are completing the research to include the relevant information into our business plans.

Having a plan helps out so much, more than what several micro and small business owners think. 

It helps with reducing some frustration and feeling overwhelmed. I’ll be talking about burnout and how to reduce it another podcast episode. Check the library for the episode. 

Through my company, I am on a mission to increase the number of small businesses that make it to 5 years and beyond. Helping business owners understand the value of a business plan is one of the ways that I want to support business owners in making it to 5 years and beyond. 

So in this episode, I share 5 things that you can do for your business so that you are not in that 17% of business owners who fail because of not have a business plan.

Be honest, are you truly committed to seeing your business grow?

If so, think about the last time you learned something new to improve your business. How long ago was that?

Benjamin Franklin said that “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

I enjoy learning.

As adults, I still believe that there is so much for us to learn and apply.

Especially, if you are an entrepreneur or small business owner or even if you call yourself an Independent Business Owner.

The point is that so long as you are starting and growing a business a side-gig or full-time, education is and should be a part of the process.

Speaking of which, I was reading an article from Forbes. In that article, it mentioned that having no commitment to learning is a reason why some entrepreneurs and small business owners fail.

Being an entrepreneur is not an easy thing. There are tons of things that we have to and need to learn.

That doesn't mean that you have to get caught up with shinny object syndrome. You still need to be strategic in what you’re learning.

In this episode, I share how your commitment to learning can lead to the success of your business.

As business owners, founders, and entrepreneurs, we are constantly looking at how we can improve our business so that we can continue to work towards the goals in our strategic plans. Here are two questions for you to think about: 

Do you make changes in your business just because or do you have a plan of when to make the changes?

Are you using shiny object syndrome to make changes so you can keep up with the latest and greatest thing?

These are questions that we need to be asking ourselves AND answering. The reason being that the answers that we have to those questions will give us more than we might be expecting. Those answers can help us solve some problems that we are stuck on right now. 

Having a business is not the same as having a SUCCESSFUL business!

Let’s be honest. If you’re one of those people who find their business draining and frustrating then it is very likely that you are missing the “when” of your business.

You could be missing other aspects of your business but in this episode, I'm going to be focusing on the "when" of our business. 

Spoiler alert, your when is connected to making changes in your business.

As a Strategic Business Coach, I have met several people who are dreaming of having their own business or they told me about the business they tried to start, but it failed. 

Then I have met entrepreneurs who are running their own business by they are not happy with how it is doing. For many of them, they started their business on the side while they were still working full-time for someone else. Then years past and they become frustrated because they still can't stop working for someone else because their business is not growing. 

A big reason for that failure is not understanding how to grow their business. They were so focused on starting it (as in getting an LLC) and a website and their unrealistic plan, that they end up failing.

I couldn't believe the day came when I made it to 1 year after making the big decision of having my own business. 

On that day, I remember telling myself, "You hold the power to move your distant dream of success from dream to an everyday reality."

Seriously, I kept telling myself that for an entire year and it helped me out. 

It was not easy to get to that 1 year mark. There were so many things that I didn't know and so many things that I needed to figure out. Getting to that 1 year mark didn't happen by accident. 

I found some strategies that I thought would work. Implemented those strategies and benefited from the results of my actions. I couldn't believe it. I had some doubts throughout that first year, but I didn't let those doubts stop me.
