Property Profiles Podcast with Hamish Bowman | Episode 5 | Tyron Simon
Welcome back to Property Profiles, the podcast series that delves deep into the lives of Brisbane personalities and their Real Estate journeys.
If you’re a foodie, you’re in for a treat as this week we chat with Ty Simon, one of Brisbane’s most exciting restaurateurs, and as it just so happens, a bit of a property mogul too!
The self confessed ‘quite boring guy’- is not that at all, as you’ll discover. In this chat, we discuss the importance of learning on the fly when it comes to business and why “being cool” is not as important as being consistent. We also touch on his latest property purchase and what he thinks is in store for Brisbane in the not-so-distant future!
I hope you love this episode as much as we loved putting it together. Thanks to Ty for allowing us to record at the amazing sAme sAme Restaurant.
And big thanks to you for listening to this episode of Property Profiles. If you enjoyed this, why not listen to our previous Episodes? We’ve chatted to the likes of Phillip Di Bella and Royce Dunne in the past.

WE'RE BACK with a new Podcast, welcome to Property Profiles, the podcast series that delves deep into the select lives of Brisbane’s most prolific property owners and their Real Estate journeys.
We’re very lucky to have Jamie and Nicky Charman join us for this first chat to kick off the podcast. Jamie is an ex AFL player turned Buyers Agent, and Nicki heads up high-end Aussie fashion boutique, Calexico. They own multiple properties around Brisbane including in Hendra and New Farm.
Our conversation starts at the beginning of their property journey, and moves through their careers, their preferences for choosing homes with character over polished ones, and how one particular open home campaign was hampered with road works literally outside their front door.
Closing with Jamie’s number one piece of advice for first home buyers - you’ll want to listen until the end. Thank you so much to Nicky and Jamie for being my first Property Profile, and big thanks to Spicers Balfour Hotel for hosting us.

The Collegiate | Haesley Cush
Haesley Cush remembers the very day he started in Real Estate - 18 April, 1996. He was 18.
Fast forward to today and he’s one of the Principal Agents here at Ray White New Farm, one of Australia’s most celebrated auctioneers and a bit of a celebrity having graced our TV screens on The Block.
On this Episode of The Collegiate we get to know Haesley, who speaks to us fresh from hockey the night before and is as charming as ever.
We cover everything from Haesley’s eternal optimism, how he manages his life through diligent calendar use and of course, his journey from acting school into real estate. Look out for a few of Haesley’s quotable quotes, as well as his number one piece of advice for young people. He even trills for us too!
You’ll love this episode if you’ve ever wanted to know about auctioneering and what it takes to run a successful agency.
Thank you so much Haesley - this was a great chat and one of my favourite Episodes so far.

The Collegiate | Matt Lancashire
Welcome to Episode 8 of The Collegiate Podcast where we have a very special guest: Brisbane’s Number 1 Agent, Matt Lancashire.
This is such a great chat with Matt, who covers everything from his lightbulb moments to his darkest days. We walk through his childhood which saw him living in Cairns to Louisville Kentucky and the south-side of Brissy. We explore his career history including humble days of working in a convenience store, to getting a trade as an electrician, and how after selling his own house to fund his overseas adventures, he found himself knocking on Haesley’s door to beg for a job at his newly-created, Ray White New Farm business in 2006.
Despite his accolades, Matt Lancashire is a practical bloke who hasn’t let his success go to his head. He's carried his trade skills over into real estate and has three incredible pieces of advice for anyone looking to take their career to the next level. He also dishes out what he thinks is the one thing that makes him stand out from his competition.
Matt was very kind to lend us his time for this episode, I hope you enjoy listening as much as I did chatting with him.
Thank you so much for listening to this Episode of The Collegiate. Make sure you look through our previous episodes including most recently, Brandon Wortley.

The Collegiate | Brandon Wortley
Brandon Wortley is someone you need to know about in Real Estate. He’s one of the hardest working Agents I know and has come a long way since his wild London days...
Even while white-knuckling through uni studying economics and marketing, Brandon has always loved real estate. After a big night at the Story Bridge Hotel, he found himself opening the paper while at his part-time job to find a real estate role, which he applied for, and the rest is history. He’s someone that I worked with when I first started at Ray White - we even did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge back when it was trendy!
14 years later and he’s my guest on this episode of The Collegiate and we talk about everything from his dog Ted, how he structures his year and how to not burn-out in this business.
Brandon, this was a pleasure - I hope you enjoy listening.
After a two-week hiatus we’re back with more episodes of The Collegiate - the podcast where I sit down with Brisbane’s best agents to learn about their careers and their advice for others in this industry. If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to check out others by Josh Brown, Nicholas Given and Karla Lynch.
I’d love if you could hit ‘Subscribe’ on Apple Podcasts or ‘Follow’ on Spotify, and lastly, make sure you’re following me on Instagram to keep up with the real estate market in Brisbane: @hamishbowman_
The Collegiate | Josh Brown
This is Episode 6 of The Collegiate - the podcast where I sit down with Brisbane’s finest Real Estate Agents and chat about their career journeys. Today we have the very classy Josh Brown of J&R Property.
Josh grew up in Bowen Hills and spent his formative years completing a property degree at UQ (never thinking he’d move into sales). Like most of our superstar agents, Josh learned the fundamentals in Matt’s team before branching out and even poaching his lovely wife, Ruby into his own team.
Listen to this episode to find out what Josh would have been if his business hadn’t taken off and how he feels about fad diets 😉 You’ll love this episode if you’re thinking about going into business with your partner - Josh and Ruby are absolute goals.
If you’re new to The Collegiate - welcome! Glad to have you. Make sure you look through our previous episodes including one with Karla Lynch and most recently, Nicholas Given. If you’ve listened to those already then we’ve had great chats with my other colleagues including Tom Lyne, Christine Rudolph and Scott Darwon.

The Collegiate | Nicholas Given
Welcome to Episode 5 of The Collegiate - the podcast where I sit down with Brisbane’s finest Real Estate Agents and chat about their career journeys. Today we have Nicholas Given, one of our superstar Sales and Marketing Consultants with Ray White New Farm.
From a stint on exchange in Argentina to acting school and picking up golf balls at the Vic Park Golf Complex, Nick’s journey into Real Estate isn’t typical.
10 years later and he’s at the top of his game, winning both Premier and Elite sales status for Ray White. In this chat, Nick and I discuss his wins and why the art of the ‘follow up’ is paramount to his success.
You’ll love this episode if you’re thinking about moving into a Real Estate career, or if you’re after some inspiration at work - Nick is full of it.
If you’re new to The Collegiate - welcome! Glad to have you. Make sure you look through our previous episodes including one with Tom Lynne and most recently, Karla Lynch. The Collegiate | Karla Lynch
For the third episode of The Collegiate Podcast, I wanted to speak with local powerhouse and my incredible colleague at Ray White New Farm, Karla Lynch. Karla has had an amazing journey so far and is now smashing it!
Like all of us it wasn't easy in the early days. In this episode, she talks us through her proud kiwi roots and hosting a mtv type tv show with her twin sister, her work as a property manager and also as Matt Lancashire's associate.
And now Karla is a thriving lead agent, running a very systemised business model. Karla is also firmly entrenched in the local fabric of her patch suburbs, and places compassionate community engagement at the forefront of her business.
The Collegiate | Tom Lyne
In this episode of The Collegiate Podcast, I sat down with Tom Lyne, a fellow colleague at Ray White New Farm. Tom grew up in the rural Queensland town of Dalby and ventured to the big smoke of Brisbane after completing high school.
After building up a blossoming career in the property scene, Tom decided to follow his now wife across to England to set up a life in London, extending and refining his market skill set. A few years later he journeyed back to our shores with a reignited ambition to be the one of the best in the game.
Now an urban family man, Tom has already hit elite status for this financial year. For a fun and relaxed guy he runs a tight, structured ship and is proof that dedicated and meticulous processes pay off.
Throughout the chat, Tom drops some insightful gems of wisdom. I'm so grateful to be able to work alongside Tom on a number of properties and projects and thoroughly enjoyed being able to sit down and chat with him about his real estate journey.
The Collegiate | Scott Darwon
This week we sit down with Scott Darwon and discuss his journey from actor to top writing agent and business owner. Tune in as we pull back the curtain and find out what goes on behind the scenes.
Scott was the first non principal in the office to achieve the $1Million commission landmark inside the office and has gone on in leaps and bounds since then.
He worked inside Matt Lancashire’s team in his formative years and since being a lead agent running his own show has grown into a top 10 Ray White agent statewide. No mean feat.
He has now furthered his ambitions and bought together with Brandon Wortley, Ray White East Brisbane and Bulimba. This is the start of his next very impressive chapter
The Collegiate | Christine Rudolph
The Collegiate will be delving into the lives of the agents behind the doors at Ray White New Farm. Understanding their stories and their travels.. Looking at their highlights and lowlights. What journey has formed them to become the incredible people and agents they are.
