E191: Jono Adam: Preparing for British Trials in Australia

Jonathan 'Jono' Adam, is a Bath Performance Centre swimmer as well as a double LEN Under 23 Champion. At the 2024 British Swimming Championships, he will be heading into the 100m Backstroke as the second-fastest seed. He's set to be one of the many hopefuls looking to make the British Swimming Olympic team in the 100m Back and go beneath the all-important Nomination Standard of 53.68 In an interview on the Propulsion Swimming Podcast, Jono shares why his preparations heading into Olympic Trials have built confidence in a potential 52-point second swim, and moreover, what it's like being teammates and even housemates with some of his biggest competition. Key topics Jono discusses on the podcast: 🇦🇺 Firstly, what was the main focus was on the recent Bath PC Training Camp in Australia. 💪 Training against Kaylee McKeown, in addition to his hardest set while down under. 🏁 Why he hasn't had many in-season swims, and then why his confidence comes from a complete training block instead. ⭐ Where did his personal best swim at LEN U23's come from (53.45), and more importantly what tactics he will use to replicate and improve upon it. 🧑‍🍳 How understanding skinfolds and his nutritional input out of the pool has led to improved performances in the pool. 🇬🇧 Lastly, why it's important he's focusing on his own swim and not those of swimmers around him, like the ever-impressive Ollie Morgan.
