Later in the episode, they discuss the significance of the sweater and toque design, what it means to Centre the Arts as an organization, as well the impact the Taylor Centre hopes to have by offering Centre the Arts apparel. In episode 22 of the Proudly Made in Canada podcast Connor sits down with Holly Singer, owner of Milk Jar Candle Company. Connor and Holly reminiscence about first meeting each other when Local Laundry collaborated with Milk Jar on our first collab candle, Sweater Weather, a maple-butter candle celebrating Canadian winters. The two get mushy when Connor refers to Milk Jar as our ‘sister company’ knowing that Local Laundry and Milk Jar have always been big supporters of each other's brands. Holly shares an inside look into how Milk Jar first got started, how she ditched nursing school to follow her dreams and how Milk Jar gives back while operating a purpose-driven company aimed at reducing its own and its customer’s carbon footprint. Recently Local Laundry and Milk Jar Candle have launched their second collab candle, Hang Dry. Hang Dry, the scent of the summer, is the newest addition to the collaboration family. Holly explains the name Hang Dry came from the nostalgia of summer linens drying the yard, giving each garment a distinct warmth and smell from the summer sun. PMIC - Episode 21 - Salima Stanley-Bhanji CEO of Humainologie
Salima Stanley-Bhanji, CEO of Humainologie. Humainologie uses art, including film, to spread empathy, increase inclusion, and reduce discrimination. Salima laughs about her decision to leave the lustrious beaches of Australia to come to Calgary. Although Salima shares that after coming to Calgary to complete her law degree and acquire some work experience, Calgary never let her go. There were many similar ties between her home town and new digs in Calgary plus some familiarity in the cityscapes. Connor and Salima discuss how Humainologie has been navigating through COVID-19 and recently launching an online portal and component for Humainologie’s gallery. Throughout the last 4-5 years, Salima has created over 30 films. One of the most significant films was a seven-series film with the Canadian museum for human rights in Winnipeg that was filmed across Canada taking on on a variety of different topics. Salima shares her thoughts given the social change experienced by the Black Lives Matter movement. Because Humainologie is in the realm of anti-discrimination work they love to see so many people become interested in educating themselves and becoming strong allies in anti-racism. PMIC - 019 - Pursue Victory - Paige Callaway
This week on the Proudly Made in Canada podcast, Paige Callaway owner of Purse Victory and Paige 1912, joins Kathleen and Connor for episode 19.  Paige tells Connor and Kathleen about her experience in garment construction, couturier and how there are over 70 measurements that need to be taken when beginning to create a custom garment. After attending to school at Ecole Holt Couture, which happens to be the only couturier school in the world and also happens to be in Calgary, Paige identified a gap in the market and wanted to construct shirts and garments that fit a lady's body properly.  Kathleen is impressed at how empowering Pursue Victory and Paige 1912 are for women and celebrates with Paige that a woman's size or shape does not define her value. 009 - Wild Rose Brewery x Yama Vans x Local Laundry Collaboration
This episode was done live at the Wild Rose Taproom event space in Calgary SW. On the eve of our launch party for our Yuzu Hibiscus Kettle Sour collaboration beer called Adventure Bound. We are together with the Wild Rose Marketing Team and the co-owners of Yama Vans to discuss how this collaboration came about, the thought and intention behind everything from the design, the name, the flavour and the charity that we chose, Parks Foundation Calgary.  Thank you to everyone who came to our event, because of you we were able to raise over $1,500 to Parks Foundation Calgary to help build an accessible park in the community of Ramsey in Calgary.  To read more about this custom collaboration take a read here!

008 - The Calgary Hitmen 25th Season // D.I.T.R.O // Local Laundry Collaboration
The 2019/2020 season is the 25th Anniversary for the Calgary Hitmen. Founded in 1994 and inspired by the famous local Calgarian, Brett "The Hitman" Hart, the Calgary Hitmen have been at the core of the YYC community for decades. To celebrate their 25th Season, they teamed up with Enmax to create The Hitmen Pledge as a way of giving back to the community. Their goal is to generate 25,000 hours of service towards Calgary and the surrounding area during their 25th season. We wanted to highlight this commitment to the community and the incredible milestone of their Silver Anniversary so we did what we do best, collaborated! Check out this latest episode recorded inside the Saddledome where we talk to Sam Mendonza from D.I.T.R.O, Jamie Cochrane from the Calgary Flames and Rob Kerr from the Calgary Hitmen who made this happen and we discuss how this whole idea came to life.  Check out the Canadian made sweater here! 25 from each sweater will be donated to the Calgary Hitmen Foundation, with a goal to raise over $2,500! The Calgary Hitmen Foundation is the charitable arm of the WHL's Calgary Hitmen. The heart of the Calgary Hitmen Foundation is the scholarship program that provides post-secondary education for Hitmen players along with the support of grassroots sports. On today's episode, we have got Scott Peris, a long-time friend of Connor and Dustins. Scott grew up in Calgary, has owned his own companies and now works for a startup called Cuboh. Cuboh is the first product built to help take online ordering off of restaurant's plates. Online ordering is annoying, they have made it delightful.
