Episode 206 - Adam Dash

For episode 206 we welcome the host of the Sound Centric Podcast named Adam Dash! Having discovered his platform via Threads we were intrigued by Adam’s top notch content and his love for music all of which we was excited to discuss with him this week! Our first topic point was his love for Hip-Hop listening to artists like J. Cole and how he was able to begin interviewing different acts during his college years at Ohio State all of which helped spark his passion for music journalism. We touched lightly on the recent beefs in the Hip-Hop world and how they can help spark content creation ideas while also helping to engage fans of the craft with platforms like Adam’s. He also gave the backstory on the Sound Centric brand as a whole and how he envisions it growing and expanding into many different outlets in the coming years as he also currently looks to pursue a career in the music industry itself. We thank Adam for joining me this week and if you haven’t already go check out his work by searching for the Sound Centric Podcast especially if you’re a Hip-Hop head like us!

Episode 205 - Haze Pt. 2

Episode 205 - Haze Pt. 2

On this weeks catch up episode we reconnected with one of our favorite producers and entrepreneurs named Haze who originally appeared back on episode 50 in 2021! Since our initial discussion regarding his pursuit of new artistic endeavors Haze gave a fresh look into how he’s continued his mission to diversify and think outside the box in terms of his creative nature. He talked about some of his local art exhibitions over the past couple years and what he’s learned holding events both on a logistical side and from a place of true freedom and expression. Haze gave more updates on his innovative music tech piece called ITEM that we initially discussed previously and how the past 10 years of perfecting it have really paid off in huge ways. While still working on music he also revealed his upcoming collaborations with Jaden Smith and what their relationship has meant to him being able to connect with another like mind who shares a vision that’s larger than what the industry scope often provides. We feel Haze’s spirit and enthusiasm for reinventing himself everyday represents the real fabric of why art is so important in the human experience and we thank him for reaching out again to shed some more light on it for you all!

Episode 204 - Samantha Heaton

Episode 204 - Samantha Heaton

In honor of Record Store Day which took place in April we bring to you a very special in person interview with Samantha Heaton, the owner of one of northeast Ohio’s’ most buzzing record shops called Erie St. Vinyl! Samantha welcomed us into her incredible space to discuss what it’s like running a brick and mortar business that’s directly tied into the music world and more importantly the local community of artists and creatives that make it so special. She talks about what it’s meant for her to be able to hold events, meet new individuals and really give back to people who not only make music themselves but those who are just as passionate about supporting other artists through physical releases as she is. She provided real insight on the day to day process of running inventory, juggling a second career and a lot more that can be helpful if you’re looking to follow a similar path. We want to extend another huge thanks to Samantha for allowing us to stop by and if you’re in the northeast Ohio area be sure to make your way to Massillon and check out Erie St. Vinyl as soon as possible!

Episode 192 - King Shampz Pt. 2

Returning to the show this week is Philadelphia MC and Dead Wrong Records lead man King Shampz who you’ve probably heard mentioned before in this show even outside of his first interview! As one of the most consistent artists we know we’re always happy to get some of his expertise and perspective and this week he had a lot more to give! The primary point of discussion was on his newly released album “Rise of Corleone” that has been released since the time of our conversation. He talks about working with his brother Azzan to craft a thorough sound bed to carve out his lyrical story over and how the time taken to make the project really paid off in its overall quality and end result. He also touched on Dead Wrong Records continued mission for bar raising music and how they’ll eventually be helping and collaborating with other acts around the globe to help them fulfill their own visions. We thank Shampz for joining us again to shed more light on how he’s helping the Hip-Hop and independent music scene. Be sure to stream “Rise of Corleone” as well after the episode!

Episode 187 - Zzay

We’re joined on episode 187 this week by California artist Zzay whom we have followed from a far over the last couple years! She joined us to discuss a wide array of topics surrounding her career and mission to keep the love involved in her creative life. Having zeroed in on a true focus as an artist over the last five years she’s seen many great results as both a songwriter and in her own discography. Among her recent releases is an EP with fellow collaborator Danny Zico titled “I’m Good” which she describes as a fun body of work to complete in person while learning more about the process and technical sides of creating different works. She also gave us insight on how her viewpoint has shifted since the beginning and how she aims to always stay true and authentic to herself as an artist no matter if she’s working solo or with someone else and what it means to her to live within that purpose. We thank Zzay for the time and can’t wait to welcome her back soon to see what she can accomplish in the meantime!

She talked with us this week about her 2 releases in 2023 the singles “Patient and Wait” and “Kingdom Love” both of which display their own respective stories and sounds while also allowing Noelle to flex her vocal skills at full force. While reflecting on her childhood growing up in the choir and revealing some of her influences in the R&B and Soul world it’s no wonder she has been able to find and carve out her own path as an artist. In 2021 Maria Simone moved from her hometown in Jacksonville out west to Los Angeles not only for work opportunities but to also pursue her goal of being a musician. Today she joined us on episode 173 to discuss that decision and how it’s led to an abundance of growth and opportunity that continues to evolve every day! Growing up in the church choir Maria always had a love for singing that has now morphed into being a solo artist giving her the ability to tell her own story to the world. After her 2022 release titled “Be Free” she talked about being able to find her unique voice and continue to build a back catalogue of music that she’s excited to begin releasing more consistently in the coming months. She also has recently joined a local band as the lead singer and gives more insight on what she’s learned being able to perform live with experienced musicians at local shows and events giving her the chance to expand her horizons even further beyond studio recordings. Episode 161 - YBG

This weeks guest YBG comes to us from Orange County, California and brings with him a diverse set of skills in the music business! Not only is he an artist but also a show host starting with his days in college radio, an artist manager for a local budding talent, and an event organizer for local shows that he and his wife put together primarily for independent artists to be involved in and showcase their talents. He talked about having the ability to understand these different aspects of the industry and how each one has allowed him to learn something new while making great connections in the process. In the midst of these ventures he still has managed to keep his health and well being at the forefront while taking breaks to live life and fuel his creative tank for more outstanding ideas to be put into the world. His shared passion for the arts and giving back is always at the forefront and we feel it’s what makes him a true standout! We thank YBG for sharing the many sides of his love for music with us and we’re excited for what’s to come from the west coast taste maker!
