My Liminal Pod

By Puiyin Wong

Hello and welcome to My Liminal Pod, a brand new (probably just another…) podcast series about digital technologies in higher education, with an occasional focus on creative art education.

I am Puiyin Wong, a learning technologist from the Royal College of Art and I will be speaking with my friends about all things digital and everything pedagogic…. Well we will try….

What makes us unique you might wonder? My conversation with my guests will be as student-centric as possible and I will invite students to talk to me as well.

So enjoy and let me what you think.

Stop Weighing Your Pigs! Why Are We In Thrall of Grades? (Part 2)
Content warning: Profanity was used between 10:00 and 10:10 mins. Stop Weighing Your Pigs! Why Are We In Thrall of Grades? (Part 1) with Dr Martin Compton In this episode, Martin and I discussed a thorny issue - ungrading.  Should we grade our students or not? What good or harm can we do to our  students by giving them bad grades?  Or really good grades?  What do  grades mean in their development anyway?  Is it time to stop giving  grades and focus on giving personalised and constructive feedback?  We  most definitely talked about the art of giving feedback that will  actually mean something to our students, which is not an easy thing to  do but it is worth it in the long run for everyone. Dr Martin Compton is an Associate Professor in the Arena Centre at UCL. Read or listen more about Martin’s reflection on ungrading: https://reflect.ucl.ac.uk/mcarena/2021/05/26/ungrading/
