#113 - Imogen Clark discusses the best season of her career

#113 - Imogen Clark discusses the best season of her career

Imogen Clark, the pullbuoy female swimmer of the year for 2022, occupies a bit of an unusual niche in British Swimming as a world class performer often locked out of the major meets by the focus on Olympic events. In this podcast she reveals the frustration that entails, but also how her focus has changed in response, while we also discuss a year that she feels was the best of her career.

It was a season that took Imogen to the Commonwealth Games, the European Championships and the Melbourne World Short course championships, giving her the taste for international competition. And it wasn't without success - with medals in Birmingham and Rome and British records both long and short course for the 50m breaststroke. We also talk about her return to Derventio Excel, the club where she first made her name, and how the ISL kept her swimming.

#84 Tokyo Bound - British Olympic Trials Review

It was a rip-snorting week of swimming at the British Olympic selection trials with 23 swimmers putting themselves forward for a shot at Olympic selection alongside the 4 who had already been confirmed.
The action in the water produced high drama, some incredible speed and a new bunch of names to watch. Who caught our eye? How good was the men's 200m freestyle? What of Britain's Olympic ambitions now and who will the selectors pick? Bob, Katie and Steve consider all this and more as we look back over an impressive 5 days of competition.

#83 First Steps to Tokyo - Olympic Trials Preview

The pullbuoy podcast returns for its 8th year and kicks off 2021 by looking forward to the British Olympic Trials that take place at the London Aquatic Centre next week.
It's a meet like no trials has gone before, with bubbles, reduced fields, and wildly varying preparation for the swimmers as they aim to book their tickets to Tokyo. Plenty then for Bob, Katie and Steve to discuss as we get ready to see who makes the grade for a trip to Japan. Who are we looking forward to seeing, who might surprise us and where will the biggest battles lie?
