Episode 4- Key Actions & Takeaway Crabs In A Bucket

Episode 4- Key Actions & Takeaway Crabs In A Bucket

Whatever the reason why crabs engage in this self-defeating behavior, they’re operating on instinct. What’s the excuse for humans? Because people do this to each other all the time.

Crab mentality is a zero-sum way of thinking, summed up by the belief that “If I can’t have it, neither will you.” There are plenty of individuals, but also families and groups of people who do everything in their power to destroy or undermine the ambitions of anyone who tries to improve themselves.

Try to rise above and, sure as sugar, someone will try to tear you down. When you attempt to do something a new and better way, or you’re working to escape limiting conditions of living or to rise above self-defeating thoughts, most folks will ignore you. As long as you’re not succeeding, you’re just a crackpot, a deluded dreamer, a fool who just doesn’t understand the way the “real world” works. But when your efforts start to pay dividends, when you stick your head above the rim of the bucket and get a glimpse of the exciting potential beyond, crab people

get nervous and start attacking.

Episode 3 - Crabs In A Bucket

Do other people try to pull you down when you’re trying to lift yourself up? Do friends, family or colleagues sabotage your attempts to move on, or improve your life? Perhaps you’re a crab in a bucket.

If you've ever been to a fresh fish market, you'll notice that if the sellers have live crabs, they keep them in a shallow bucket or crate, which is left uncovered.

The reason for this is that crabs almost never escape their container.

The minute one crab starts climbing up the side of the bucket, the other crabs grab its legs and climb onto its back, pulling it back down again. This process gets repeated with every crab that tries to climb up, with the result that no crab escapes.

Episode 2 - Analysis & Action Steps Dandelions In The Sidewalk

Narrated By Author Joanne Macgregor.

My professor’s dandelion makes me think of the flowers I see growing by the roadside in and around my city — the pink and white swathes

of cosmos at Easter-time, and the single sunflowers with their giant sunny heads that appear in small patches of ground between massive

highway intersections. They make me happy! And yet too often my attention is focused on the bad news coming through the car radio, or I’m grumbling about the traffic and bad driving habits of the motorists around me.
