With social media playing such a crucial role during the 2019 Los Angeles teacher’s strike, teachers quickly learned that a captivating sign or poster would be the best way to get their message heard. As an artist and public school teacher, Arturo Aviña's creativity was sparked by seeing the variety of signs on the first day of the strike. This is the story of how the famous Loteria strike sign was born.
