We discuss why films like “A Fantastic Woman” are vital, how authorship can be interpreted, the new wave of queer women, and our season-long theme of water and femininity. Can a toxic relationship at the center of a romantic comedy still make it romantic? Find out as LINNA and Nic discuss Desiree Akhavan’s debut, “Appropriate Behavior”. For our first season, we will be diving deep into the film movement known as New Queer Cinema -- specifically the prominent, transgressive gay films of New Queer Cinema. Join us as we critically analyze films such as Todd Haynes' Poison and Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho.
