50: Jordan Raynor - Pursuing the Call to Create and Becoming the Master of One
Hey guys! I need to share with you something important and very sudden that I didn’t have planned before we get into today’s episode. You will understand this more as you listen to this episode with Jordan Raynor, but I’ve decided to make this the last running episode for the Refine and Restore podcast. It’s definitely bittersweet. I’ve SO enjoyed the process of sharing podcast episodes, guests and content with you all. It was definitely good for a season. But recently, I had been feeling the pull to complete this podcast earlier than I had planned and it’s all because of the recent early copy of a book I read by Jordan Raynor called Master of One, along with confirmation in prayer with God. You know when you have a good thing you can do but it doesn’t give room to the one thing that God is asking you to do that is going to be that much better? Yeah, that’s me right now in this season. So, keep listening to this episode with Jordan because maybe it will make you think hard about where you’re at in life and whether or not you are where God wants you in this season of life. But let me tell you a bit about Jordan Raynor before we go into today’s podcast episode. Jordan Raynor is a serial entrepreneur and national bestselling author who helps Christians do their most exceptional work for the glory of God and the good of others. His book, Called to Create, became an instant bestseller when it was released in November 2017. His next book, Master of One, will be released in January 2020. In addition to his writing, Jordan serves as the Executive Chairman of Threshold 360, a venture-backed tech startup that has built the world's largest library of 360° experiences of hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Jordan previously served as CEO of the company, following a string of successful ventures of his own. Jordan has twice been selected as a Google Fellow and served in The White House under President George W. Bush. A highly sought-after public speaker on the topic of faith and work, Jordan has spoken at Harvard University, SXSW, TEDx, and many other high-profile events around the world. A sixth-generation Floridian, Jordan lives in Tampa with his wife and their two young daughters. This is one of my favorite episodes where we dig into the topic of calling and purpose and how your ministry can be at home with the kids, at church, or creating products as a serial entrepreneur. As long as you are doing it for the glory of God and loving others in the process, that’s all that really matters. Get the book Master of One! Connect with me on Facebook! Many of us have phrases that we are repeating in our heads over and over again that are not only healthy, but lies that we are believing in about ourselves. We don’t think much of this because it feels normal. But I want to encourage you today to listen closely to the thoughts and phrases in your mind that you are saying about yourself and ask yourself, are these healthy thoughts and are they really true? 45: Ruth Chou Simons - Beholding God in the Everyday and Becoming Who We Are Meant to Be
Have you ever sat down with someone and felt like they are an automatic friend? This is the kind of guest I’m bringing to you today on the podcast. Ruth Chou Simons, also known for her company Gracelaced, first started as a water color artist sharing God’s beauty and grace through her art. She’s become a bestselling author of multiple, gorgeous books (I know because I own them), mama entrepreneur, and national speaker. She shares her journey of God’s grace intersecting daily life with word and paintbrush through an online shoppe at GraceLaced.com and her Instagram community of more than a hundred thousand. Ruth and her husband, Troy, are grateful parents to six boys—their greatest adventure. Ruth is the author of Beholding and Becoming: The Art of Everyday Worship, and GraceLaced, which won a 2018 Christian Book Award. She lives in Colorado with her husband Troy and her 6 boys whom she lovingly refers to as “mancubs.” Honestly, I love this woman so much. She contains so much wisdom which we get to experience today on the podcast as we discuss finding God’s glory and grace in the everyday, even sometimes mundane, of life. She mentions how her Instagram reel is mainly a feed of her preaching to herself as she adheres to the truth of God’s promises through His Word. 44: Welcome Back! Don't Feel Guilty For Wanting A Break...
Welcome back to the R&R Podcast friends, I cannot believe that it’s been 1 full year since I launched this podcast and what an amazing year of growth it’s been for those of you who have been following along each episode. I hope and pray you’ve been growing in your faith, learning tools to help you thrive in life, and that you’ve enjoyed some of the personal stories I’ve shared about the radical adventures of stepping out and walking on water with Jesus over the past several years of my life. The most amazing thing is I decided to start this podcast before I even knew that my book was going to be published with the same name, Refine and Restore. It’s been fun to see how God had this planned better than I could have planned it myself, even though I felt like He was taking too long because I had been pitching it, rather uncertainly for a year, this was 2017-2018 before it became officially contracted with FaithWords in October 2018 and is now going to be released into a book this October 2019. I can’t wait for October 8th when it becomes available for you to have in your hands, although I do have about 300 early readers in my launch team with books and can I just share with you a few things they’ve said about it so far? Vitali said As I read this book it’s like God wrote it for me and what I have been going through. I feel relief and joy for knowing that I can get out of this rut and that it’s all possible with His power and strength.” Renee said “I am a 73-year old grandmother and I feel that this book is applicable to all ages of women, from teens to old folks like me.” Re (a male reader) “she’s addressing women, but this could easily be written to either men or women.” Vickie said Thanks for putting words to feelings and validating what we are afraid others don't feel.” Kelli “I cannot thank you enough for putting words to what was going on in my head and in my heart. I am a writer. I love words. I can describe almost anything - except this - and you have done it for me!” Wow. Thank you! So friend, if you haven’t pre-ordered your copy yet, sounds like this book is worth your time to read and you will thank me later for getting your copy. I also have something special for those that pre-order the book, it’s a 5-session course to help you revive your heart and release your purpose. Basically, it’s the practical application tools that I didn’t put in the book that I help coach you through with this course. And the videos are only 15 minutes or shorter which can either be completed in a 75 minute binge session because you will have access to all 5 of them immediately or you can go through it daily or weekly, applying the tools I share within it to help you grow in your relationship with God and walk out your unique purpose with Him. You can go to RefineAndRestore.com to order as well as claim your free pre-order gift—this course—before October 8th. I’m pretty sure Amazon has it on sale right now too so go grab it and tell your friends before the price goes up and while you can get your pre-order gift to go with it. There’s also a Mega giveaway going on for 5-nights in Hawaii or Florida plus a fun quiz you can check out to discover how happy you are, so go to RefineAndRestore.com and check it out! Today, I have a simple thought I want to share as we ease into fall with back to school, new schedules, extra activities that might be piling up or start feeling overwhelming... Today I brought my guest Lindsay Teague Moreno onto the podcast. Lindsay is an author, podcaster, and business owner. 37: Everyone Starts at Zero
Happy Post Fourth of July! I hope you had a good one. Our plans were pretty low key as we are still getting used to the sun that never sets here in Idaho. Honestly, it’s so weird that at 10 pm there’s still light in the sky and we had to wait until 10:30 pm for fireworks to start. What the heck? In California where we used to live (for the majority of my life) fireworks always started at 9 pm because by 8:30 pm it was dark friends! So, with a 5 year old and two 7 year olds, waiting until 10:30 pm wasn’t going to happen so it wasn’t much of a show this year. Oh well. I’m still celebrating the freedom we have in our country and am so thankful for those that sacrificed themselves to enable the freedom that we have today. It’s episode 37 and I share about something I’ve struggled with (been still struggling with to an extent). But through the realization of this one truth (and dwelling on this reminder), it has enabled me to keep going when it feels easier to not. In fact, it's helped create 5 transformational inner changes in me and therefore I want to unpack this truth with you so that you can experience it, too. So in this episode, I chat about: 5 transformational inner changes that occurred in me once I realized this one truth and let it soak in. How this one truth relates to God in the Bible. Apparently there are a few diaper innuendos (sorry!) What to do when you are feeling stuck with zero inspiration, zero clarity, zero hope, and zero confidence in something you're wrestling with. 36: 3 Life-Changing Perspectives You Need to Adopt
What if I told you that if you took on three simple but radical perspectives and started to truly BELIEVE in this way and view of thinking, it would become life-changing? In episode 36 of the Refine and Restore Podcast I want to challenge to common perspectives of culture and discuss why they are damaging you and preventing you from living a fuller, more joy-filled life. Whenever I get in conversations with others about these three mind-shifts and ways I've changed my view and thinking about things, everyone is blown away by the power of it. So I wanted to give you these tools I've put in my personal growth tool-belt for you to adhere to as well. In this episode, I chat about: How this mentality shift came to fruition. Why these three perspectives are so important to adopt into your life. How to actually work these shifts into your thinking. What these shifts have done for me in my own life. This is a quick, power-packed episode where I get straight to the point about three perspectives that I believe will have life-altering effects in your life, as they have done for mine. 35: Scheduling Less for 3 Things You Want More
We live in one of the busiest cultures in the world. Fast paced, cram packed lives typically define our days. But what if we are missing out on what we truly want more of? What if we need to schedule less to gain 3 things we want the most? It's episode 35 on the Refine and Restore podcast, and today I'm unpacking how Scheduling Less for 3 Things You Want More of will radically change your life. What are those 3 things? You will need to tune in to find out! In this episode, I chat about: What 3 things you are missing out on that are crucial to living well. Why scheduling less into our jam-packed schedule will open our lives to more of what we truly want. How to stop the cycle of "well, everyone else is doing it!" which isn't a healthy perspective to have. When this realization hit me and how I've worked to lessen over-scheduling by saying "no" to a lot of good things. What you can do, today, to lessen the stress, overwhelm, and busy in your life to gain what you are missing out on most. You truly are missing out when you pack your schedule to the brim. There really are other ways you can cultivate these 3 things (which you want MORE of, trust me!) no matter what situation or type of life you are living right now. Listen to this episode, today! 34: Michael and Morgan Leblanc - Sacrificing the American Dream to Reach the Unreached as Tribal Missionaries
What would it be like preparing to go overseas for the next 20 years serving in the rural and dangerous parts of an island, learning a whole new language and eventually sharing with them the gospel message? Could you do this if God called you to this life? Today, I chatted with my good real-life friends and missionaries we support, Michael and Morgan Leblanc, about what it's been like preparing to go overseas and the stigmas people often think when they hear missionary. They are authentic and share their honest struggles, while also expressing their deepest hopes and passion as they enter this call into the wilderness with Jesus. In this episode, we chat about: How God birthed this desire to serve overseas. Why saying, "I could never do that" is false thinking and how they've wrestled with this decision as well. Their biggest fears (a certain crawly creature might be one of them). What they foresee raising a child overseas and as missionaries may be like. What is Ethnos 360 (Tribal Missions) and what is their overall plan. Why many people hold back from serving as missionaries, and why you should start small if there's any interest in serving in this way. 33: What Does the Bible Say About Healthy Ways to Resolve Conflict in Relationships?
There are healthy ways to resolve conflict with others and then there are unhealthy ways. Often we get caught up in what the world says is best to resolve conflict, but is that really what's best? In today's podcast, Ep. 33, I'm excited to bring back my husband for the third week in a row to discuss the biblical way to resolve conflict. Recently, we dug into this more as we worked to resolve our own areas of conflict with friends and relationships around us, and found some surprising information and instruction in the Bible we hadn't understood before about how to best navigate this for the most positive response. In this episode we talk about: Some of our own areas of conflict that you can probably relate to. The steps the Bible teaches about how best to navigate conflict issues with those around us. How to approach the situation first, and what not to do when you first become irritated with someone. Why it's important to be careful of sharing the issues you are having with another person to your other friends (*hint: this becomes gossip) Personally, I've become better at resolving conflict after applying these principles in my everyday life. I have to start and say that my guest, Erin Weidemann is the real deal you guys. 29: What They Don't Tell You About How To Become an Author
It's Episode 29 in the Refine and Restore Podcast and today I'm revealing behind-the-scenes of what they don't tell you about how to become an author. I share the parts that make it worth it, but also the challenges I faced and the honest questions I had to ask myself just before I started to take my writing more seriously. In this episode I cover: one of the hardest things I believe all authors face what writing really looks like behind-the-scenes, especially when you're first getting started to become an author multiple mindset shifts over the past few years as I've journeyed on this somewhat hush-hush industry Why you probably shouldn't quit your day job (although making money as an author is more important to me now that I'm the main income earner of the family, it is definitely NOT my primary goal...but this one thing is) When the best time is to start How to find a mentor/coach to help you through the process (and why this has been key to my success) It's important for me to mention that I offer my coaching programs for aspiring authors three times per year and if this is something you've had on your heart for a while to pursue, or perhaps you've been trying to make it as an author for a while now, I can't tell you how important it will be for you to hire a coach to help you get there. 28: Three Daily Disciplines to Revive Your Heart
What if incorporating 3 daily, simple disciplines in 5 minutes or less could revive your heart and revitalize your life? It's Episode 28 in the Refine and Restore Podcast and in this short episode, I'm doing a mini-spiritual growth coaching session with you to help you get from a place of stagnancy, or distance from God to ecstatic for life and sense His presence, again! These three simple principles are tools I used to help me get unstuck in seasons of hardship, and are principles I still implement in my life, today. In this episode I cover: how these disciplines aren't what you think (it's not reading your Bible, even though that's a super awesome principle too!) why this works (and has worked for multiple others I've coached) what resource I've created for you to help you do this easier (check out the Revive Your Heart Journal!) one critical element many people fail to do when they pray to God how to create contentment in your heart again Reviving your heart to experience God more personally in your life isn't rocket science. It's about small, intentional actions that you can start right now. Click here to listen to this episode! Connect with me on Facebook! Connect with me on Instagram! 27: To My Strong-Willed Daughter
Welcome back to the Refine and Restore Podcast with me--Rachel Swanson!!! Today's topic has been on my heart for a while. However, it finally felt relevant to share due to Mother's Day being just around the corner. Do you have a strong-willed daughter or two? I know how difficult this can be. In this episode I cover: my authentic thoughts and hurtful reactions about how I struggled with my strong-willed daughter the #1 thing I knew I couldn't do to her (and didn't) the ways God changed my perspective about her strong characteristics How similar I am to her and why we need each other as mother and daughter more than I initially believed My letter to my strong-willed daughter (it might make you cry!) 24: It's Okay to Wrestle
So much of the time, we shove away the thoughts. We don't want to engage or wrestle with them. But friend, it's okay to wrestle...in fact, this may be exactly what you need to do in order to discover who you are and the truth about God. In this episode (#24) I unpack: The current areas of my life that I'm wrestling with: my faith, emotions, and roles. Why it's good and healthy to wrestle with these things. What the Bible has to say about wrestling with God. How to response to people who are wrestling with issues in their faith, relationships, etc. I think we need to be more authentic with one another and share what we're wrestling with, as well as respond to others who are wrestling with more grace, love, and compassion. What do you think?

23: Pivot Don't Quit
Sometimes, I feel like giving up: on relationships, my kids, my career, and even my faith. But what if there's a pivot God is inviting you to see with Him? Maybe you just don't see it yet? In this episode (#23) I share: Areas of my life where I've contemplated quitting. A story in the Bible that made me think that perhaps God has a pivot in place, I just don't see it yet. Encouragement in your own season of when you feel like quitting instead. I'm thankful for those seasons that I haven't quit, even though I felt like it. 22: Ten Intentional Practices for a Less Overwhelmed Life
It’s episode 22 and I'm deep diving into 10 simple and intentional practices that I have put in place over my life in order to have less overwhelm and increase my productivity. This isn't so much of adding more to the weight of your schedule. It's about intentionally designing your life to be more balanced and intentional with the things we put in it. When I implement these 10 things, I feel the weight of stress and worry fall off my shoulders. I feel more aligned to my callings. I have less guilt and less distraction. All in all, it makes for a more healthy and happy life. In this episode I cover: 10 things that I strive to do each day in order to bring less overwhelm to my schedule. A specific Proverb that has helped me let go of control to a certain extent. My favorite quote by Martin Luther. What things you can and cannot multi-task well with. How to make sure your spouse is on the same page as you. And more! I don't do this perfectly, but I do feel the state of my life is more intentional and less overwhelming than most. 21: Jenny Randle - Why Your Soul NEEDS To Tap Into Creativity
I had an entertaining chat with my guest Jenny Randle on today's podcast. Jenny calls herself a creative ninja which is fitting since she’s an entrepreneur, speaker, Emmy-award winning editor, and wrote a book called Courageous Creative to help unleash your inner creative. Some of you may not think you are creative, or think that being creative is a big deal. Perhaps you've even succumbed to the lie that God doesn't want you to dream or pursue those dreams with Him? In this episode we cover: Alarming statistics about the drop in our creative energy as an adult, and why this is so important to get back. The lie you may be believing in about your lack of creativity. How being creative is biblical and a part of our origin. What tapping into our creative energies does for the soul (and why this is worth fighting for!) How to freestyle rap like a champ! (Or at least have fun with it!) You will laugh out loud with this episode as well as get a big tug in your heart as you listen to Jenny's personal story of pursuing her inner creative, and how you should do the same. 20: When God Says Wait
Have you ever had to wait on something when all you want to do is press forward? Waiting on a job, for a check, on kids to put their dang shoes on (or maybe that's just me?) Waiting on God's promise for something He may have demonstrated to you? Waiting for healing, waiting for rain, waiting for a dream to more forward? Have certain situations required your patience or caused frustration amidst the waiting? In this episode (20) I'm discussing: Our current standstill with the ranch and when God has asked me to wait... Does God actually call us to wait sometimes? What stories of the bible discuss this? Is there purpose in this waiting? What is the lie we are believing in? What areas of your own life is God asking you to wait and what might He be trying to teach you? Recently, God has been telling me to wait. To be patient. Something that isn’t exactly my strong suit. If you’ve ever been wrestling with the issue of waiting on God’s timing or being patient during challenging times, keep listening because I want to tell you what I’ve learned personally and found biblically through this process. 19: "I can't do that because____" Overcoming Excuses
It’s episode 19 and I want to hit this issue I see running rampant in your thoughts and minds of “I can’t do that because ____” You put in an excuse and it keeps you from taking that step of faith to change your life for the better. I also want to tell you about some practical tools and a key spiritual truth that will help you overcome this barrier in your life. Because friend, there’s never going to be the perfect time to make that radical shift. Your life won’t change until you decide it’s important enough to make that change. In this episode I cover: What excuses are you holding onto that are simply excuses and nothing else? How I actually do it all? Three things that enable me to overcome these excuses and the barriers I face? A key biblical truth you may be failing to apply to your life? How I was able to work part-time, care for three kids in diapers, lead in my church, and still pursue my writing dreams! Don't limit yourself, friend. 18: When will it be enough?
In this episode, it’s episode 18, I’ve been wrestling with this concept of enough over the past several years and have gotten to a really freeing place of being content with where God has me now. I’ve stopped striving and starting living into this current season with new perspective, and I want to help you shift your thinking with this too—to overcome the lie that you don’t have enough—and step into the truth that enough is right in front of you. In this episode I cover: How I've come into a season where we have less and yet I feel more content than ever. What God's Word says about contentment and having enough? What I have to do DAILY to restore my heart back to the truth about this matter. How you can become free from the glass-half-empty thoughts. What we really should be striving for and where our focus should be. We have more than enough friends. 17: Jennifer Dukes Lee - How To Get Your Control Under Control
I had an amazing conversation with Jennifer Dukes Lee in this episode. Jennifer is has actually become such a great friend that I met through social media a few years ago and she is the author of many books, but her recent one is titled It’s All Under Control. This is the episode for those that are trying so hard to do everything for everyone. You have a ton of plates spinning in the air and you feel very responsible for whether or not they stay up or fall. And then at the end of the day you feel weary, wondering if you did enough, and peace just isn’t there. By the end of this episode you won’t feel so alone in this struggle, as well as Jennifer gives us so many nuggets of wisdom to help us point out the lies from the truth. In this episode we cover: What it's like in different stages of motherhood when it comes to feelings of control over our kids. What Jennifer really thinks about the statement "Just give it to God and it will all work out." How we have a certain amount of responsibility on certain things that are in our control. Why she believes that when life hits you with the unexpected, the harvest will still come. I hope this episode opens your eyes to the possibility that you may have unhealthy control issues and how to navigate this area of relentless control in a healthy, biblical way. 16: What Was Good For A Season May Not Be Good For This Season
But what was good for a season doesn’t mean it will be good for this season. Or even right for the next season. This is something I’ve been learning. It’s something you need to know too. But you need to know, you have options. You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to explain the shift to anyone else, just like you don’t have to explain why you have to start wearing scarves, mittens and warm boots. Just make the shift you know you need to make. Take the next step with God to pursue whatever it is He is beckoning you to pursue with Him. There’s a reason you’re feeling the way you’re feeling. There is something else for you in this next season you may miss out on if you don’t take the initiative. 15: "So...I think I may be struggling with anxiety."
This is season 2 and today I'm sharing about one of the issues I struggle with most: Anxiety. This has been the thorn in my flesh that I've struggled with most of my life. At times, I've found seasons of peace from this issue. But at other times, I've found myself curled up in a fetal position while my mind spins out of control with overwhelm. So how to we work to overcome anxiety or stress? What does the Bible say about this issue? What's the science related to this struggle? And how do I help someone else who struggles with anxiety or stress in their daily life? In this episode I cover: Signs and symptoms of anxiety verses stress. What the root of anxiety, stress and worry actually is? The four areas that are the root of every stress you have in life. Spiritual ways to overcome this issue. How to help someone else who struggles with this issue. The most important thing you need to remember if you struggle with anxiety. Please know, I am not a physician or medical health professional that diagnoses anxiety. I am a certified life coach in stress management and have certain training to understand signs and symptoms of mild to moderate stress and anxiety and provide insight to overcome these issues. For PTSD or more severe symptoms of anxiety, please seek a medical professional or counselor to help with this issue. These statements are merely my own unless cited by other published work and is based on my own personal experience and research on this issue. Website: RachelCSwanson.com/Podcast

14: Stasi Eldredge - Defiant Joy over Choosing Joy
Stasi Eldredge is a best-selling author and co-creator of Ransomed Heart ministries. She and her husband love writing and speaking about the goodness of God despite challenges we face. In this episode, Stasi discusses how you can still claim defiant joy amidst life difficulties. It's different than simply choosing joy, which seems to dismiss the reality of hardships going on around us. Instead we can have defiant joy, which acknowledges the pains of what is but also remember the joys we already have in Jesus. If you want to hear about: What we believe the Bible says about prosperity verses suffering What to do that will help when you're faced with a sudden hardship What NOT to do when you're faced with a hardship How Stasi and I battle with contentment and joy amidst our body image struggles (especially post-holidays) Want to grab a copy of Stasi's book, Defiant Joy? 11: Taking Things One Day At A Time...(part 3)
This is Episode 11 of the Refine and Restore Podcast titled "Taking Things One Day At A Time..." It's the last part of our recent faith adventure or ranch story which has taken us from the sprawling city suburbs of Southern California to the rural hills of Southern Idaho. It involves my husband quitting his job, selling our dream home, purchasing an RV to live in, investing in a 60-acre ranch with new friends and partners, and walking out a dream we never anticipated being on. But through it all, we've seen how God is directing us, guiding us, and has invited us into this journey with Him. Therefore, we feel the assurance of His presence and know that we are right where we should be. This journey has been anything but easy. And currently, it requires us taking things one day at a time. Which is something we want to invite you into our discussion about today as we navigated through this process. In this episode, we talk about: - When things don't go as planned. - My first experience with a panic attack. - The right and wrong ways to do an investment. - What going from the city to the rural country is actually like. - How God is continuing to refine us and restore our hearts back to His. The ranch is officially named Seven Springs Ranch and you can find them on Facebook or Instagram! 10: A Million Different Pivots... (Part
Last week, I talked about the beginning and how this whole ranch adventure, my husband quitting his job, the RV and us moving from California to Idaho first started. The decision for my husband to quit his job was the pivotal decision that created a wake of change and propelled us onto an adventure with God we never even saw coming. But if you think this transition was seamless, think again. No, it brought us on a million different pivots and a million different decisions to make, ultimately propelling us to one main purpose. A purpose and mission for which we are still discovering and unwrapping right now. Just so you don't think we're super human and super spiritual: - I made a few impulsive decisions that my husband wasn't too thrilled with. - This leap of faith hasn't been without some financial planning on our part, making this transition a lot easier than it would have been. - We still aren't quite making it each month without my husband working (even in a lower income area like the rural hills of Idaho) but I'm thankful for my business ministry, book contracts, and the coaching clients I get to serve. - I had a full-blown panic attack when we arrived at the ranch. So no, I'm not super human. - We've both been struggling with fear multiple times and the inconvenience this has brought to our lives has stretched us thin (me more than him). BUT, we've also been experiencing something incredible through this process. Something that feels almost like I imagine Peter feeling walking on water toward Jesus. An indescribable experience and connection to Him. Seeing how He is using us in ways we never anticipated which has swollen our hearts with such incredible purpose. Doing work too big for us to handle but totally possible with God. Our hearts feel more alive than we've ever felt before and God continues to give us affirmations that we are doing the right thing. Friend, I believe you can experience this too. Perhaps you just need to know someone else who has already taken this leap and can tell you, "It's worth it! Trust me!" Tune in to listen, today! 09: You Have Options (Part 1)
Have you ever felt stuck and didn't see any other options for another way out? My husband and I were there not too long ago and we wanted to invite you into our journey and story over the past 6 months of why he quit his job without another one in sight and the path its taken us on which involves partnering on a dream we never, ever saw coming. In this episode, me and my husband share candidly about the struggles we were facing and the decisions we made which changed the trajectory of our life. Sometimes you have to take that leap of faith to experience all that God has for you. The most difficult part though is the leap, because often times you don't see where you're going or what's going to happen but have a deeper conviction of something more...that God is leading and that's all that matters. Liz Griffin and her husband are pastors of a church in Texas, with four children, and the journey she’s been walking through over the past 6 months has been anything but easy. Join me by listening to this conversation today! Key Verse Shared: "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." (John 16:33, NIV)

02: When God Speaks But It Doesn't Go As Planned
I'm sharing my very personal story of the journey my husband and I went on because of God's leading. However, it didn't go as planned in the end. Often when this happens, we question whether or not it was true, or wonder if we heard God correctly. We wonder if God is really good when He clearly told us to do something but it's as if He changed His mind during the process and we are left empty handed. We wonder if He is trustworthy or if He is loving when the refining process hurts or makes us confused, especially when He invites us to do something risky with Him. I invite you into my wrestling journey with Him and what actually happened in our fost-adoption journey that came to a heart-breaking end.
