In this episode, I will be discussing SEROTONIN (5-HT) i.e. 5-Hydroxytryptamine. The convo will begin with few initiating sentences about Neurotransmitters like Dopamine (DA) and 5-Hydroxytryptamine (5-HT).
Then we would be peeping in history of Serotonin discovery, contributions of Scientists namely Vittorio Erspamer, Irving Page and Betty Tvorog
Next, I will explain the synthesis of Serotonin beginning from Amino Acid Tryptophan and then taking two-way pathway. The talk will be continued till the termination of action mechanisms. Finally a Bonus Knowledge Byte and that will mark the wrp up moment of the episode.

In this episode, I will be talking about very Selective- "ALPHA 1 RECEPTOR ANTAGONISTS", like Prazosin, Terazosin and Doxazosin.
 Prazosin is the prototype drug and there is so much to talk about it- Extent of selectivity, its action, effect, pharmacokinetic profile, adverse effects and metabolic effects.
Next in the list are Terazosin and Doxazosin, they are too discussed heartily and while comparing them with Prazosin, a good amount of light is thrown on their profile.
I will be discussing uses of these agents especially in states of BPH, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia!
In the end, one liner about Tamsulosin & one liner revision advise will keep up the spirits till I knock back with next bunch of tales about left over Alpha 1 Receptor blockers like Tamsulosin, Alfuzosin and Silodosin. Chao till then!!

Today's episode of the day i.e. "le sujet d'aujourd'hui" is a sequel of last episode and the two highlighted processes that I will cover are the Reuptake and the Metabolism of Catecholamines, all in all the termination of action/effect of catecholamines in nutshell!

I will be describing  reuptake at neuronal (axonal & vesicle) level and also at extraneuronal sites.

Next, I will be covering metabolism of catecholamines aotside neuron as well as in the liver by MAO & COMT enzymes respectively and finally formation of Vanillyl mandelic acid (VMA) which is excreted in urine after glucronide conjugation & sulfation.
