How to ‘change’ the color of your skin through your mindset
Dr. Canute White talks with Tony El (February 27, 2024)
Tony finds the question of "why" fascinating because seemingly so many people today are terrified to ask "why". Why are things the way that they are? Why am I being told something that I believe to be true, something that I have seen/heard, is wrong? etc... That is the word that he wears on his shirt sleeve like gold. According to my guest, “America is the only nation whose Constitution, founding documents, recognizes the god-ordained right for us to freely think and express our thoughts. The problem is that so many choose not to.” #blackhistory #America #mindset

A story of homelessness, addiction, and mental illness at its worst

Ryan Gray attended the University of North Carolina Asheville (UNCA) to study literature and graduated in 2016. He is currently pursuing a career in behavioral health as a peer support specialist. He is self-supporting (financially and otherwise) despite severe schizophrenia, depression, ADHD, and anxiety. Ryan has been unusually close to his family ever since he got clean 15 years ago. He credits his recovery to the encouragement of many people along the way, including nurses, social workers, counselors, and doctors, sponsors, and fellow AA members. #addiction #mentalillness #homelessness

The ghost of addiction: Did you try to cut your mother's head off?
Dr. Canute White sits with Ryan Penley to share his story (February 2024)
With more than four years of hard-won sobriety, Ryan has transformed his life's adversities into valuable lessons for those still struggling with addiction. Today, he lives a life that is unimaginably blessed, exceeding even his own expectations. His debut book, "Man Up. Sober Up.," serves as both a testament to his resilience and a practical guide for those seeking to reclaim control over their lives. More than a survivor, Ryan is a beacon of hope for those still battling their demons. He demonstrates that from the depths of despair, it is indeed possible to forge a life filled with purpose and joy. #addiction #Sobriety #blackhistorymonth

Addiction, divorce, death of his mother: What more can a man takes?
Dr. Canute White talks with Dominic Meattey (January 23, 2024)
My guest grew up in a small town in NH. His parents were drug addicts and got clean, but his mother died when he was a teenager from Hepatitis C. So, Dominic’s father raised him and his brother. He went to college to play baseball and football. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree and then got a masters. After graduating, he went to work for his family business and then got married a few years later to his ‘ex-wife’: They were together for about 13 years before getting divorced. While going through the divorce, he quit drinking. The marriage created a beautiful daughter. Now, according to my guest, “I’m on the path of creating the best me possible for my loved ones and my people” #addiction #alcohol #parenting

You will not believe this! Let’s ‘Rose’ for social change
Dr. Canute White talks with Juliet Rose, a multi award-winning author of nine novels (January 23, 2024)
By the time she was ten years old Juliet Rose knew she wanted to be a writer. She entertained neighborhood kids with her stories after school and with the support of her mother got her first typewriter. Life had other plans and after the death of her mother when Juliet was eleven, she put those dreams on hold. Over the decades she has picked up the proverbial pen time and again, writing about her life experiences including the cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing of her four-year-old daughter. Focusing on fiction currently, she is driven to bring to life characters from many walks of life and the struggles faced in modern society. Her writing style is open and fluid, giving the characters the ability to shine as the truth of their own story. Her works are honest and sometimes brutally painful but in the end her characters are given the voice that needs to be heard. Juliet is a New York native living in the mountains of Georgia. She has lived all over the United States and Mexico and doesn’t plan to stop seeing the world beyond her front doorstep. She spends her time rescuing animals, painting, and writing. Her dream is to get an RV to explore hidden gems and find the best vegan restaurants. #socialissues #family #authors

From childhood abuse to more loving relationships: The Paul Zolman's Story.
(July 20, 2023)
Paul Zolman has created a new application of the love languages. It's a profound way to learn all five love languages to give them away. By giving them away, your vision will improve to the point that you can see them coming your way and respond appropriately. The system is so easy that even young children can be trained in this love-giving system. Spoiler alert: it's a game where everyone wins. #childhoodabuse #podcast #relationships
“Paul Zolman is the international bestselling author of the Role of Love, but the true author of love is God. In His wisdom, He placed us in a variety of circumstances that require us to find our way back to His pure love. So, what qualifies me to speak about love? My childhood experience of the opposite of love. From that austere beginning, and the distaste it formed inside me, I searched for and eventually created a method that transformed my life from anger to loving everyone.” (Paul Zolman)

Ne Sean Blair, C5 level paraplegic, urgently needs your help. (Recorded: July 10, 2023)
GOFUNDME: https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-nesean-to-live-a-normal-life-with-paralysis
- C5 level paraplegic, meaning minimal movement of his arms and legs, and is completely dependent on caregivers, mainly mom Kedine, for everything – feeding, clothing, bathing, and even repositioning. It has led to a terrible complication, pressure ulcers that are not healing and have become infected.
• On his 16th birthday, he went to the community store to get some juice, and got caught in a deadly crossfire, the bullet lodging in his neck.
• There are decent treatment options for NeSean, but they are limited by his immigration status. As an N01 non-resident, he cannot access federal or state funding for special surgical procedures and extended recuperative medical therapy, to heal his infection.
• Total estimate including diverting colostomy, and plastic reconstructive surgery with flap, is $169,000, with $25,000 needed to get started. Better housing options than his current stay at Ronald McDonald. We hope to raise these funds through philanthropy, and grants. The long term to get NeSean back to school, into standard rehab, but also the innovative and advanced therapeutics at the Lois Pope Life Center to Cure paralysis, and regain the use of his arms

Diversity Management in Organizations - A chat with Deb Curtis
Born out of life's most profound challenges, Deb Curtis has emerged as a voice of reason in the tumultuous world of business. Her personal journey, marred by hardship and strife, has molded her into a resilient advocate for unity in diversity.
In her early years, Deb encountered numerous trials that could have shattered the spirit of anyone lesser. At the age of nine, she was left abandoned in a drug-infested home. Throughout her teenage years, she wrestled with feelings of rejection, leading her to attempt suicide twice. At twenty-six, she married a man whose severe alcoholism and violent behavior threatened her life. But through these hardships, Deb yearned for love and recognition, searching for it in all the wrong places. #diversitymnagement #corporate #minority

Talking from Experience: Human Trafficking and The Various Myths
My guest is Amanda Blackwood
Quoting from the mouth of my guest: “When I talk on stage about my experiences as a survivor of Human Trafficking, I try to always inject a sense of humor. The subject matter I talk about can be really heavy and if it's not delivered properly can leave people feeling triggered, traumatized, and depressed. I see this often in the field of work I'm in. It's what I lovingly refer to as "trauma vomiting." You get all the bad stuff, and nothing good comes from it. I want people to feel uplifted, not depressed!”
As she talked with me she injected a sense of humor to achieve just that sort of feeling. #humantrafficking #trauma #survivor

My guest is Yehloe Davis
Yehloe is the type of poet that keeps it real. He is a fun person that loves humor and reality on many levels. He helps build relationships, with spoken word artists, authors, and entrepreneurs. So, he was fun to talk with on Canyouth’s Exploration. He grew up in the streets of Chicago's southside. He has tried to keep a positive outlook on things and spread that energy to others. In 1997, she married who she thought was her fairytale, knight in shiarmor armor. After having a successful business and 2 children, she was a stay-at-home Mom for many years. In 2014, her life started to unravel. Things escalated quickly, and the next thing she knew, she was reportedly being sexually abused by her husband, which turned into his sex trafficking her. She reported spending manynights crying on the floor of her home, realizing that she was in a very dangerous situation. With fear running through her body, and hope in her heart, she ran for the door and got out. She said, “I saved myself!” #sexualviolence #domesticviolence #sextrafficking

A young lady’s prison experience and her passion for success in the USA
Elizabeth Mikotowicz was my guest on Canyouth’s Exploration.
From prison to purpose! Overcoming trauma, addiction, domestic violence, traumatic brain injury, abusive corrupt institutions, and mental health issues! Prison artist to an environmentally friendly fashion designer (comes in plus sizes) inclusive to everyone. Convict to working with state representatives and getting bills passed! -That’s Elizabeth Mikoto, for you! #fromprisontosuccess #prisonstories #domesticviolence
According to my guest’s profile: In her 20's she hardly survived a very violent relationship; he assaulted her with a wooden dowel, and you could see her skull when it happened. The doctors gave her opioids when she refused, they threatened her with child protective services because she was pregnant and refusing medical advice. Eventually, she went to the DV shelter and was turned away, they said her injury was too severe and it put the other women in danger. She survived because drug dealers helped her - or took advantage depending on how you look at it. She eventually went to federal prison for a nonviolent drug charge. She endured and witnessed so much institutional abuse, corruption, systemic racism, and cruelty; sometimes she still wakes up screaming. But! She's turned it all around and launched an environmentally friendly feminine brand that’s being sold in stores and comes in plus sizes. We talked about those and more as she sits with Dr. Canute.

Dyslexic Experiences – The Truth about Dyslexia and the System
What do you know about dyslexia? How does the system interplays with dyslexia? How does dyslexia affect relationships? Dr. Canute White talks with Michaell Magrutsche who was born with dyslexia.
My guest is an outside-the-box thinker. He can resolve paradoxes like why 95% of worldwide artists exist around the poverty level and therefore should be proud to be poor. According to Michaell, “without creativity there are no man-made systems, there would be no world as we know it.” What’s the solution? The solution: My guest discovered patterns within Art that foster creative communication and identify art values outside any systems which always raise our human potential. He suggested creative communication for dyslexic children. #dyslexia #learningdisability #thesystem

He took the rape for his sister: The Fatherless Child-True Story
My guest was a young boy (now a man) who lived with his family in rural Mississippi where life should be carefree. He witnessed domestic violence and become a victim of sexual assault all in one year. For Anthony McKinney, life was anything but simple. Fortunately, he found refuge in a young girl named Santorica. Soon after they fell in love, a life-changing event has the potential to separate the two love birds and change his life forever. My guest’s sister was about to be raped by a man and my guest courageously protected his sister by ‘taking the rape’. #fatherlesschild #sexualabuse #singleparenting

Making of a business owner: A Chat with Ameet Khabra - A Canadian Businesswoman
My guest started her first business at 19 years old when someone told her they thought she couldn't do it. Three years later, she decided that she wanted to close up shop and move to another province. Five days later, she left BC for Alberta. It's in Alberta where she truly began her career in Pay Per Click advertising. She basically went from managing $250 a month to $4.3M a year.
Still living in Canada, Ameet has spent the last decade figuring out why people do what they do online, what prompts them to take action, and how to use this insight to make marketing work better. Today she uses that experience to design dazzling campaign strategies for our clients and teach future generations of PPC pros at the university level.
Her obsession doesn't stop at marketing, however. Ameet's knowledge of and passion for American football has been called "excessively enthusiastic" (ask her an NFL question, we dare you). Her love for the Dallas Cowboys is second only to her love of her dogs, Luke and Leia.

Making of an author: Interview with Teri Brown – written a fiction set in Ukraine
Born in Athens, Greece as an Air Force brat, Teri M Brown graduated from UNC Greensboro with a multitude of degrees – majors in Elementary Education and Psychology and minors in Math and Sociology – she just couldn’t settle on one thing! While homeschooling her four children, she began her writing career by focusing on small businesses, writing articles, blog posts, and website content. She published five nonfiction self-help books dealing with real estate and finance, receiving "First Runner Up" in the Eric Hoffman Book Awards.
My guest is the author of An Enemy Like Me, a WWII historical fiction that explores the idea that we are more like the enemy than we are different from them. Additionally, she wrote Sunflowers Beneath the Snow, a historical fiction set in Ukraine. This story is ripped from the headlines and will help readers understand the current Ukrainian conflict and develop empathy and compassion toward their plight.
“How does a man show his love – for country, for heritage, for family – during a war that sets the three at odds? What sets in motion the necessity to choose one over the other? How will this choice change everything and everyone he loves?” (An Enemy Like ME – coming soon.).

A child’s experience with severe scoliosis: A mother’s hope, desperation, and faith
Viewed from the front or back, the spinal column should be straight. When scoliosis is present, you will see a sideways shift of the spine to the right or left. Approximately 10% of the population has small curves (less than ten degrees), which are of no consequence to function or health. This condition is called Spinal Asymmetry. When a diagnostic x-ray is done, the curve of the spine is measured in degrees, as an angle, and this is called a Cobb angle. Scoliosis is defined as a curve greater than ten degrees. It is most common in the thoracic and lumbar regions of the spine and can involve one or both of these regions. The most common curve pattern is a right thoracic curve.

My guest, Dr. Lawrence D. Mass, M.D., is a co-founder of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in New York City. He is most notably recognized as the first to write about the epidemic that later became known as AIDS. He is the author of We Must Love One Another or Die: The Life and Legacies of Larry Kramer; a two-volume collection, Dialogues of the Sexual Revolution; and a memoir, Confessions of a Jewish Wagnerite, Being Gay and Jewish in America. He has faced his own struggles with and done specialist work in addiction. He explores interfaces of culture, social tolerance, health and spirituality, and seemingly disparate phenomenas such as Wagnerism and AIDS.
Book: Critical Perspectives of Wagnerism in the realm of Wagnerism, Larry Mass’ introspection on being a homosexual Jew living in New York City weaves itself into a unique perspective of art, intoxication, addiction, codependence and recovery. With the increasing desire to change before it's too late, many individuals get stuck in the "how-to" stage and never act as they are paralyzed by the unknown. Rick has the road map for these lost and confused dream-seekers. He will provide the inspiration to act and the hope of a better tomorrow and happiness.
Rick wasn't always interested in helping others on a global scale despite being pushed repeatedly in that direction by near-death experiences, family tragedies, and deaths. It wasn't until the ever-worsening times of 2020 when he was laid off, quarantined, and desperate that he finally got the wake-up call.

Dennis Williams is a single father who lives in a one bedroom with his nine-year-old son Devonte Williams who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at birth. At 34-year-old, Mr. Williams continues to do bartending and works as a delivery man to help support himself and his child. In an interview with a Jamaican newspaper (The Gleaner), he expressed his emotion:
“Right now, just talking about this is giving me cold bumps. This is my one and only child and it scares me when he has seizures. I can only sleep with one eye open because of how fearful I am that something will happen to him. He gets scared, too, and would behave frantically in the house”
Mr. Williams also reported that he spent over $40,000-$50,000-JMD monthly to take care of his child. The father desperately needs a disability bath chair so he can shower Devonte with ease.
