Episode 127 - God Loves Hard
Episode 127 highlights some additional points to my recent sermons part of a trilogy of messages focusing on our marriage to God. You can listen to this without listening to them and get the gist of it all, but I HIGHLY recommend you listen to them as well.  Part 1: A Loveless Marriage: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cnw85u8ilvde6k2/191020_A%20Loveless%20Marraige.mp3?dl=0 Part 2: Prenuptial Agreement: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qq11hqllochait2/191023_Prenuptial%20Agreement.mp3?dl=0

Episode 126 - Wise Master Builder
1 Corinthians Chapter 3 is the focus this episode. We talk about God working a lot, but what about the work of His people? This is a great conversation about our labor, what we are supposed to do, who we are supposed to do it to and what that work should look like. I'm far from done with the topic. Look forward to another episode very soon. Hope it's a blessing to you as it was to me.

Episode 125 - Under Old Management
Episode 125 I sit with my sister Rebecca Thomas and talk about a specific engagement with Peter and Jesus. In this engagement, Peter is embolden to rebuke Jesus, but while indignant, he is ignorant to one thing…he is minding the things of man and not of God. This is a point of issue with Jesus because it’s characteristic of His adversary Satan. That’s why Jesus response brings us to our conversation today…get thee behind me Satan. Who are we addressing? Who are we helping? Who are we hindering? A great conversation. We also talk about why Christians can’t have nice things. Enjoy.

Episode 121 - No Condemnation
The feelings and thoughts that weigh us and pull us away from the power and grace of God, are the responses to life. This unexpected and ever-changing life is full of traumas of different forms. Some are the a part of our choices and some are the result of just living long enough on this earth. The why is enough to drive anyone crazy, and if we are not careful, we will think we are being punished. This podcast we focus more on how to deal with the weight of life and it’s traumas. I’m so grateful to have my sister Sylvana Pryor with me for this one, she has survived more than her fair share of pain and heartache, and was more than fitting to talk about how to not live in the condemnation that comes from looking at suffering as a punishment instead of something much greater.

Episode 120 - Chase The New
What is your daily routine? I'm sure it includes a bunch of things that are absolute must to get your day going, but there's something you must add to it. Paul tells us that one thing he must do daily is forget what is behind him and press forward. This episode we talk about what we should be pressing towards in our forward thinking. I'm joined by my sister Suzanne Spicer. Hope this one is a blessing to you.

Episode 119 - The Crowd And The Disciple
This episode I share about the distinctions between the crowd and the disciples by first breaking down some of the qualities of the crowd. Many of the attributes of the crowd can be likened to today’s church. There is some response to Christ teaching, His gospel and His miracles, but not the response Jesus was or is looking for from people. My hopes is this episode challenges you to step out of the crowd and become a disciple of Christ. As always, enjoy. Obedience over audience. Episode 118 - Higher Learning
Go to church, read the bible, maybe a devotional...but what is it all for? To learn? If so, what have you learned? Better yet, what are you supposed to learn? That's what this week's episode is all about. Lost in all the greek and hebrew words, missing in all the lessons and sermons is a sad fact that many are ever learning but never coming into the knowledge of the truth. Coming to the knowledge of the truth isn't deep...it's higher. Higher learning...enjoy.

Episode 117 - College Care Package Part 1
Back for another episode, this time I got a special guest Amaris Pryor. Heading back for her sophomore year of college, I wanted to give her something to take back with her to help her this school year. So I pack 5 scriptures that I think will serve her well in a nice care package. Grab a kid or two, or maybe just use this care package for your work week. Maybe share with your friend or neighbor...Either way, this was an awesome episode that will help you get through your week. Enjoy!

Episode 116 - The Well
This episode I'm still flying solo sharing some truth about the living water. Perfect for these hot summer days where thirst is at an all time high. I share about how we come to church looking for water but not with the energy of one who is dying of thirst and understands the need of the living water to literally survive. Listen. Learn. Live.

Episode 115 - The Lord, My Shepherd
This episode I want to take you on a journey through one of my favorite passages of the Bible, Psalms 23. There's so much I find in my daily reading of this scripture that is more than life to me. It's the reason I'm able to make it out of bed some days honestly. So I share some truths I've been inspired with over the past two years of reading it and some new truths that unveiled themselves through the podcast. Obedience over audience. Enjoy.

Episode 114 - The Grieving Process
This episode I have with me the ever insightful Sylvia Hall (Minister & my mom) as we walk through Ephesians 4 to understand what it means to grieve the spirit. In the process, we talk about believers coping with the loss of their life for the sake of Christ. It’s really its own grieving process, which many have struggled to make it through. This conversation is lengthy but so packed with important truths that can really help us deal with the death of our old nature. Enjoy! Episode 113 - Conflict Of Interest
In Episode 113 I have my wonderful niece Erica Spicer with me. My goal is to have conversations about the scripture and life surrounding it with all ages and all walks of life, so this is special to me. We talk about the her struggles dealing in a "blended family" and why the term narrows the scope of a larger issue that plagues all of our families, no matter where the blood lines are drawn. The issue is being of one mind, and when the family unit isn't, the conflict arises because there's a conflict of interest. Self-centered thinking and much are more produce this fact and we discuss it all. Oneness is the mission...hope you enjoy.

Episode 112 - Fathers And Sons
Episode 112 is special to me because I get to talk with my dad Forrest Scott Hall. Special because it's important for fathers and sons to connect, and even more so for them to connect in the Word. The saddest thing to me is to see men absent and to see them absent from the call God has placed men in. This episode we talk about the responsibility of the man of God in the home and what that looks like in a simple way. I will always remember this episode. It's a blessing. Enjoy.

Episode 111 - The Relationship That Counts
Episode 111 is simply about your relationship with God. If you want to have a real relationship with God, you're going to have to have a real relationship with the scriptures. It's the relationship that counts. We go to Acts to learn about a man named Apollos, who was passionate about God and taught the scriptures accurately, but some of his brothers in the faith seen that he could be more accurate. Why because the greater our accuracy, the greater or efficacy in God. It's not enough to just be something, we need to be it greatly and that comes through growing in the Word. It's the relationship that counts. Enjoy.

Episode 110 - What's On The Menu
Episode 110 we talk about accountability, distractions and caring...I know, that's a lot. In life, we can want to help people, but do we really know what they need? It's more than meets the eye, and for Jesus, it was more than meat. John 4:31-34 guides us on this journey of understanding that helping someone eat is a thoughtful notion, but what menu are you helping them eat from? Folks mean well, but what does well mean? Let's talk about it. Enjoy.

Episode 109 - Self - Love
Episode 109 we talk about self-love and where it fits in the life of the believer. We visit 2 Timothy 3:2 where we read that men would be lovers of self and try to understand what's so wrong with that. There's a fine line between self-love and loving self--a line we should tread carefully. It was a great conversation that went a lot of places but leads to the truth. Enjoy.

Episode 108 - Heart Work
In Episode 108 we talk about the topic of the moment in America--mental health. Everyone is focused on mental health, but what works? Pills? Clinical sessions with a mental health professional? Meditation? Unfortunately when it comes to our mental health, we want everything to work but us. To truly deal with the disease of the heart, we have to do the heart work. It's easier to sit and hope a pill can change your chemical imbalance or hope dumping your stories of trauma and pain on another person can unburnden you. The nothing works better than some good old heart work. Not here to minimize your pain, just here to maximize your faith. Enjoy!

Episode 107 - True Worship
Episode 107 I fly solo to talk about worship. That word gets thrown around in association to singing slow songs during church service, but is that true worship? I take a moment to visit the scriptures and challenge all of our understanding of what worship is. Why is the word used in the bible, but rarely in respect to music? What part the singing and music play in our worship to God, if any? I waited for the right time to have this discussion. I think now is a better time than any. Enjoy.

Episode 106 - The Devoted
Episode 106 we talk about devotion by challenging ourselves to ask what we are devoted to. We use Joshua Chapter 6 and 7 as the backdrop for understanding the level of devotion God expects from His people. We often relagate devotion to worship songs, bible reading and church attendance, but we rarely question our devotion to God by looking where are heart is located through what we treasure. Hopefully it's a blessed conversation for your ears and heart. Enjoy! Episode 105 - God At Work
Episode 105! We talk about the good work with Charity Hall riding shotgun this week. Having confidence in what God is doing is tied to understanding, not what God is doing, but who He's doing it for. We talk about the misunderstanding we have with what the good work is and why it doesn't always feel good. We somehow end up talking about people being spiritual and other interesting topics. Episode 104 - Phobophobia Part 2
Episode 104 continues our conversation about fear and faith with Felicia Jenkins. We set the stage about how we can fear growth in God, and now push the conversation to how faith plays a integral part of us embracing this growth. We talk about how faith should shine in our engagements with others and our perspective in life. There's a lot here to unpack and I pray it is a blessing to at least one person. Enjoy!

Episode 103 - Phobophobia
Phobophobia is the fear of fear. When you look back at the story of Peter walking on the water, he began to get afraid as he walked closer to Christ. I think we can find ourselves being overwhelmed in the same way. I decieded to have this conversation outside with, friend of the RCM, Felicia Jenkins. Such a wonderful conversation that I hope helps you deal with the fear we feel as we get closer to Christ. Enjoy.

Episode 102 - Sobriety Check
I remember being a young man, a high school senior, at the threshold of manhood...it wasn't an easy time. Those times come to mind while talking to my nephew, urging him to live soberly. It's a conversation I wish some man had with me long ago, but I'm blessed to be able to have it with many young men today. There's a lot to unpack here, but it's all a teachable moment for all who listen so enjoy.

Episode 101 - Labor Day
This week my co-pilot is Sandrina Savoy, dance minister and my sister. We talk about the urgency and importance of understanding what Jesus meant when He said the harvest is ripe but the laborers are few. What is the harvest? Why are there so few laborers? What does the labor entail? We explore these questions and why so many Christians don't see the role of laborer something they can walk in today. Every Christians posseses the power to empower others in Christ...not tomorrow but today. Labor Day. Enjoy. Episode 100 - Far From Ideal
I had so many plans for the 100th episode, none of those plans came together. It made me reflect on how I even made it to 100 episodes when I've often worked in less than ideal situations. The consistency is a testament to a truth I've learned and embraced about leaving my ideals behind and being obedient no matter how people, places and things leave something to be desired. I want to give you all a look into what was a source of great frustration for me and the revalations that gave me peace. Thank you all for listening and special shout out to those who've listened since the beginning. Enjoy.

Episode 99 - Pride
Great conversation with my brother about pride. What it is, what effect it has on us and how we can overcome it. I watched pride destroy many a man, including me. It's something that can be avoided if we just challenge the way we think about ourselves as it relates to God and His will. If you got a father, husband, brother, cousin or whatever...hip him to this podcast. It's for the ladies too, but I see all to often the effects pride has on men especially. It destorys families, careers and churches from the inside out. Enjoy!

Episode 98 - Real Church Matters
we are back and we go back to the essence of it all. I realized, I never really talked about many of the thoughts behind REAL CHURCH MATTERS. Why I see the current church as not real or even what is missing from it that makes it the way it is. As we move to 100 episodes, I think now is a better time than any to address it. Me and Charity talk about people experiencing relgion as a culture. Is our engagement with church more a part of the black experience more than a spiritual experience? Episode 96 - Perfect Attendance
Episode 96 will always be a special one to me. I got to talk with my nephew Solomon Thomas. In many ways, it felt like I was talking to a 13-year old Forrest, telling him things I wished I listened to when my mother shared them with me. I shared with him a major mistake even many adults make, we lack focus. It can be described simply as when the teacher calls your name and a simple answer of present satisfied her. But even though we are physically present, it doesn't means our minds are. So we talk about honoring God with our presence, our attention, our focus, simply put with our minds. The future will be good with young men like this around. Episode 94 - A Leading Man
Episode 94 I got my brother joining me again as the resident married man for some discussion about leadership and manhood. When you talk to men about leading their household, it never fails we get into some murky territory that smells more like mysogony and pride than the love that Christ lived and commanded. How does one lead his wife and kids? The bible's view of leadership is not one of rulership or ownership, but one of discipleship. If you can't follow Christ, who are you following. Better yet, where are you leading your family? We talk about all this and turning hoes to housewives, eating frozen pizzas and #jesusafterdark lol. Episode 93 - You're Dead To Me
Episode 93 we discuss Romans 6:11-12…People often say someone is “dead to them” though this person still lives…this persons life has no effect, influence or power in the their life. When something is “dead to you” it is unable, ineffective, dead, powerless…It cannot be heard, felt, seen and no longer has the ability to function or live as a part of life. In the same way, sin cannot be destroyed, only rendered inoperative…in other words…sin doesn’t die, it’s just dead to you. Sin isn’t dead in you if sin’s passions or lusts rule, control or have the greatest influence in our lives. We also discuss taking a shower everyday, chicken pox and R Kelly. Episode 90 - The Mission Statement
Episode 90 - The Mission Statement Wow. 90 of these bad boys. I'm humbled and grateful to be used consistently. So this week we talk about Jesus. No sooner than He left the wilderness filled with the spirit to begin His ministry, He read a scripture that would prepare the world for what He was about to embark on. This scripture is the work in the "greater works" Jesus spoke of us doing. So why are we so far off the mission. It's because we don't embrace the mission statement. Charity is with me once again on this journey. I'm not stopping. If that statement don't make you happy, it's ok, it makes God happy. Enjoy. Questions?: askme@realchurchmatters.com

Episode 88 - Love By Faith And Not By Sight
Episode 88 - Love By Faith And Not By Sight A brief break from the “Jesus After Dark” series to drop a wonderful conversation about love with me and my mom. People believe in love at first sight, and I do too. It’s just not as fantastical, romantic or idealistic as you might think. We break the myth that we don’t know what love is, we do—and we do it in everyday life towards people, places and things. We don’t however know who we should be directing our love to—and how the love of anything other than God is the root of all evil. Oh you thought that just pertained to money? Yeah this conversation is going all up in your love and making a mess of things. Enjoy. Questions?: askme@realchurchmatters.com

Episode 87 - Jesus After Dark Part 2 Back with my fiery sister Charity for more #jesusafterdark talk. This time we shine the light on the objectification and exploitation of men and women in the church. The reality is that we aren’t dealing with the fact that even in church we are serving eyes more than serving God. Man just typing that hit me lol. Episode 86 - Jesus After Dark
Episode 86 - Jesus After Dark Jesus is the light and that means He is here for the dark. Just like he sat with sinners, Jesus is here to shine light on even the darkest part of the human condition. There are alot of things we think are reserved for after dark, removed from the confines of church but repressed in the confines of our minds. We need to recognize Jesus is after dark--He wants to reveal the things that, when concealed, leave us opressed. My conversation with Charity Hall is all about having those taboo conversations with Jesus, with Jesus people and with ourselves. We talk about what it truly means to confess your sins to one another, what it means to be a "breast man" lol and much more. You think you know how this conversation will go, but you have no idea. Episode 85 - Questions, Thoughts, Etc
Just me solo today answering questions, asking questions and sharing a few thoughts I've had on my mind this week. I think there's some nuggets of truth and insight stuffed in all the talking so take a listen. All impromptu so at times you will hear me slightly sounding preoccupied, it's when I was looking up scriptures that popped in my head. Hopefully it's a blessing. Questions?: askme@realchurchmatters.com Show Notes: Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Matthew 21:13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Jeremiah 7:11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the Lord. Matthew 28:16-20 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Episode 84 - A Man Like Jesus
Episode 84 - A Man Like Jesus Jesus is the center of our faith. Meaning our lives should revolve around, not just who Jesus is, but who Jesus was even as a man. It's His time on earth that informs how we live on earth. It's His interaction with people, He ability to be tempted and never sin and His desire to please His father in obedience that should be our blueprint to building a relationship with God. But in order to measure up to the stature of Jesus, you would have to search every inch of the Word of God. Especially since Jesus is the Word made flesh. This weeks conversation is about this and much much more. Thanks to Stewart for playing co-pilot. Obedience over audience, but since we have an audience...Enjoy. Episode 83 - Made To Manifest
Episode 83 - Made To Manifest Another week. Another topic to wrestle with. This week I talk with Sylvia Hall about manifestation. Not just what the word means in the realm of Christianity, but also by what way do we engage with that word in our walk with God. I've noticed there are words and/or terms that people shy away from talking about in detail, even though it impacts our overall understanding of who God is and who we are in Him. I'm not one to run from a fight...and that includes wrestling with some tough topics in the faith. We hope it helps give you even a little insight. Keep what you catch! Enjoy. Episode 82 - A Pure Conversation
This week I have a special guest in studio to just have a pure conversation. A pure conversation about the unpure mind, based on Titus 1:15. I can't imagine a better guest, a better subject or a better conversation than the one we had. This is one you should share with the those who may not be familiar with the podcast or God for that matter. Please enjoy. Episode 81 - You Are What You Eat
Episode 81 - You Are What You Eat This week Forrest and Philip talk about words. Words are powerful. But the power is found in how you engage with it; and what words you engage with. A lot of people handle the Word but do we really eat it? We may have tasted it and found it to be sweet, but have we swallowed this, often times, bitter pill. We follow a few scriptures that show how God used men of God to reveal how engaged we should be with His Word. It's all about studying, but not studying to memorize, but studying to understand and act upon. There's a lot to eat in this episode, so dig in. Bon appétit! Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O Lord, God of hosts. Ezekiel 3:1-3 And he said to me, “Son of man, eat whatever you find here. Eat this scroll, and go, speak to the house of Israel.” So I opened my mouth, and he gave me this scroll to eat. And he said to me, “Son of man, feed your belly with this scroll that I give you and fill your stomach with it.” Then I ate it, and it was in my mouth as sweet as honey. Revelation 10:8-10 (NLT) 8 Then the voice from heaven spoke to me again: “Go and take the open scroll from the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” 9 So I went to the angel and told him to give me the small scroll. “Yes, take it and eat it,” he said. “It will be sweet as honey in your mouth, but it will turn sour in your stomach!” 10 So I took the small scroll from the hand of the angel, and I ate it! It was sweet in my mouth, but when I swallowed it, it turned sour in my stomach. Deuteronomy 8:3 New Living Translation (NLT) 3 Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Matthew 4:4 (NLT) 4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]” Psalm 119:101-103 I hold back my feet from every evil way, in order to keep your word. I do not turn aside from your rules, for you have taught me. How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food. Psalm 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb. Psalm 119:111 Your testimonies are my heritage forever, for they are the joy of my heart. Psalm 119:97 Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day. Psalm 119:72 The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.

Episode 80 - Behind The Music
Episode 80 - Behind The Music This week is special for me for a few reasons. First, Phil came up with the subject matter based on something he was really dealing with and that passion makes me proud of him. Secondly, this is a subject that is near and dear to both (Forrest & Philip) of our hearts...music. We talk about praise and worship and the misconceptions of it's purpose in our lives as believers, the misuse of it in the church and the miseducation the musicians, worship leaders, pastors and parishoners have to what the "move of God" is and should be. Moving the crowd isn't the move of God...Or is it? This is required listening for those who want to understand and be challenged on what music is in relation to praise and worship. Enjoy. Episode 79 - Going Supernatural
Episode 79 - Going Supernatural Is God intention for us to just be natural women and men? I read an article by Jackie Hill Perry about her spiritual journey to God that included moving beyond being a lesbian (here’s a link). The words of this article jumped out at me, especially a passage relating to Romans 1:26-27 this scripture speaks against what goes against nature or what is deemed as natural according to God’s design. It’s funny we KNOW gays are wrong because we can clearly see it breaks what visually can be seen as God’s design for fleshly bodies, but what is God’s design for the spirit? Going against the spiritual nature God designed is just as abominable as going against the physical nature God designed. Since we know what God didn’t intend for our physical bodies, do we know what He intended for our spirits? That’s where our (Forrest Hall & Philip Hall) conversation goes this week, God’s plan for us is bigger than the natural now. His plan started with the first Adam, but it doesn’t end there. If to not look like the first Adam is an abomination, then what is it to not look like the last Adam? We may have started in the natural, but it’s time to move to the supernatural. Everyone talks about going natural, just like the church thinks fondly of going back to the “old time way”…it’s time we go supernatural. Thankful for the article and I hope this conversation builds on it in a fruitful way. Want to support? Listen and share with as many as you can and go to patreon.com/realchurchmatters Questions? Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. 1 Corinthians 15:44-46 King James Version (KJV) 44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. 45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. “ I’d heard more times than I cared to count that what seemed to me a natural enough expression of love was, in fact, unnatural and flat-out abominable.” people refer to, and she is referring to, Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Ironically this scripture speaks against what goes against nature or what is deemed as natural according to God’s design. It’s funny we KNOW gays are wrong because we can clearly see it’s breaks what visually can be seen in God’s design for fleshly bodies, but what is God’s design for the spirit? Going against the spiritual nature God designed is just as abominable as going against the physical nature God designed. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Episode 78 - Why You Mad, The Sequel
Funny thing happened this week, I had no intention on recording a podcast, until someone asked me about anger. I started responding and realized what I was saying was helping me understand it a little more. So much so, I decided to record a podcast about anger with my brother. Once we were done I wanted to call it "Why You Mad?"...that's when Phil reminded me we did a podcast called that no less than four months ago. I went back to listen to it, and while that one is about anger too, this one expands deeper on it. Hence why this is called the sequel. I never know who in the world these things are for. If it's for you...that's more than enough for me. Enjoy and spread the word, for the word sake and not mines. Episode 77 - Built For Likes Or Built To Last?
Episode 77 | Built For Likes Or Built To Last? This week I have Philip Hall & Ashley Hall on the show to talk about their marriage. Their story isn’t that much different than most stories. They were young and in love, married, had children. But after 12 years of relationship and 9 years of building a family, it all came crashing down. The ending sadly isn’t uncommon either. Everyone has plans for how they want relationships to work out, and they take all of those plans and start building. Building with all the effort an intention to make it work, but unless God build a house, all that labor is in vain. Unless God keeps a house, all the wokeness, all the passcodes to phones, all the home cook meals and romantic spontaneity in the world won’t keep the marriage from falling apart right before your eyes. Letting God build your marriage doesn’t fit on a pic, won’t get a million likes, isn’t peoples idea of #relationshipgoals and won’t get shared or retweeted. I appreciate them sharing their lives and their journey to a marriage that isn’t just built for likes on instagram, but is built to last. There’s something for people who are married and people who aren’t. So enjoy. #realchurchmatters #obedienceoveraudience Any questions you can go to askme@realchurchmatters.com Of course to support us monetarily visit patreon.com/realchurchmatters Psalm 127 King James Version (KJV) 127 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Genesis 8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the Lord; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar. Joshua 22:25-27 King James Version (KJV) 25 For the Lord hath made Jordan a border between us and you, ye children of Reuben and children of Gad; ye have no part in the Lord: so shall your children make our children cease from fearing the Lord. 26 Therefore we said, Let us now prepare to build us an altar, not for burnt offering, nor for sacrifice: 27 But that it may be a witness between us, and you, and our generations after us, that we might do the service of the Lord before him with our burnt offerings, and with our sacrifices, and with our peace offerings; that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the Lord. Proverbs 9:1 Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars: Proverbs 14:1 Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands. *How to build Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? 1 Chronicles 22:5 And David said, Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be builded for the Lord must be exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will therefore now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Episode 76 - The "Judgy" Episode - Part 2
Episode 76 | The "Judgy" Episode - Part 2 This week is part 2 of the our deep dive on judging. Everyone quotes Matthew 7:1 which directs us that we should not judge, but there are soooo many other scriptures that can build upon that and give us a deeper understanding of this oft-thrown-around word. We don't render verdicts, that's reserved for the ultimate judge...but we are judges of another kind... #realchurchmatters #obedienceoveraudience Any questions you can go to askme@realchurchmatters.com Of course to support us monetarily visit patreon.com/realchurchmatters John 12:46-48 New Living Translation (NLT) 46 I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. 47 I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. 48 But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. Romans 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. Romans 14:12-13 King James Version (KJV) 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way. 1 Corinthians 2:14-15 King James Version (KJV) 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul. 15 And after she was baptized, and her household as well, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come to my house and stay.” And she prevailed upon us. Episode 74 - Honey, I Shrunk The Lord
Episode 74 | Honey, I Shrunk The Lord This week we talk about overthinking, how it's not so much that we over think, but what we are thinking over. The things we mull over, pour over, stress over, and think over, are the things we magnify in our life. Small things that aren't worthy of the mind space, that energy or time, are magnified so much that become greater than our God in heaven. Our thinking is at the heart of worship and we haven't realized it. I'm excited about this one. But I think I say that about every one. So I'll just say enjoy. #realchurchmatters #obedienceoveraudience Any questions you can go to askme@realchurchmatters.com Of course to support us monetarily visit patreon.com/realchurchmatters Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Isaiah 43:18 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Matthew 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Philippians 4:8 New Living Translation (NLT) 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Looking at the story of Job, we look at what integrity is, the reason it must be maintained and the power in keeping your integrity. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. Job 1:7-9 New Living Translation (NLT) 7 “Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan. Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” 8 Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.” 9 Satan replied to the Lord, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God. Job 2:2-4 New Living Translation (NLT) 2 “Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan. Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.” 3 Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil. And he has maintained his integrity, even though you urged me to harm him without cause.” 4 Satan replied to the Lord, “Skin for skin! A man will give up everything he has to save his life. Job 2:8-10 New Living Translation (NLT) 8 Job scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery as he sat among the ashes. 9 His wife said to him, “Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die.” 10 But Job replied, “You talk like a foolish woman. Should we accept only good things from the hand of God and never anything bad?” So in all this, Job said nothing wrong. Job 4:5-7 New Living Translation (NLT) 5 But now when trouble strikes, you lose heart. You are terrified when it touches you. 6 Doesn’t your reverence for God give you confidence?  Doesn’t your life of integrity give you hope? 7 “Stop and think! Do the innocent die? Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Ephesians 5:3-4 3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Episode 71 - When They Go Low, We Go Love
This week we talk about reconciliation. Just like God gave His son to fix a broken relationship with us, we must sacrifice to fix our broken relationships with others. Why? Because we aren't just the recipients of reconciliation, we are supposed to be administrators of it as well. And frankly, how can you help one reconcile with God, if you can't reconcile your differences with them? No matter what is said or done, the Christian mission is love that heals, not only our relationship with God, but with others too. The saying goes "when they go low, we go high" but for believers, when they go low, we go love. Enjoy! Episode 70 - The House That Spirit Built - Part 2
Episode 70 is interesting because it’s actually a continuation of Episode 69. What had happened was we were recording “A Little More Matters” for episode 69 and things got so good time got away from us. The spirit is a dense topic that honestly can’t be fully expressed in one or two episodes. We build off the idea of the last podcast but just delve deeper into the way the Holy Spirit should manifest and how we should embrace it as a church and as people of God. Episode 69 - The House That Spirit Built
Episode 69 is about the Holy Ghost. I know right, no one says that anymore. It makes most modern church goers cringe when we think about the Holy Ghost and what the manifestation of it should look like in the church. We talk about the quenching of the spirit in modern church, the bastardization of spiritual gifts in the church and what the spirit really should look like in our lives and in church according to the bible. I’m grateful to have as a co-pilot for this tough topic my mom, Sylvia Hall for a 2nd week in a row. I think she likes it lol. Thanks for listening and continue to share and be blessed. Episode 68 we talk about parenthood by going on a journey with a 40-year vet in the parenting game, my mother, Sylvia Hall. She has a story that is too much to fit in one podcast, but consider this the origin story with more chapters to come. She is a mother to more than her 7 children, and to understand why so many people call her "mom" you would have to hear her wisdom on parenting. We talk about her journey into motherhood and some of the traps many parents fall prey to, thinking of parenting as something you enlisted in as opposed to being drafted in, the feeling of having to choose between your children and your dreams and much more. But you say, ‘How have we despised your name?’ Malachi 1:6 O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah Psalm 4:2 “And now, O priests, this command is for you. If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart. Behold, I will rebuke your offspring, and spread dung on your faces, the dung of your offerings, and you shall be taken away with it. Malachi 2:1-3 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 Yet I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. Present that to your governor; will he accept you or show you favor? says the Lord of hosts. And now entreat the favor of God, that he may be gracious to us. With such a gift from your hand, will he show favor to any of you? says the Lord of hosts. Oh that there were one among you who would shut the doors, that you might not kindle fire on my altar in vain! I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, and I will not accept an offering from your hand. For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations, and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering. For my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts. Malachi 1:7-11 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. John 12:26 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Romans 1:21 Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him. Wisdom rests in the heart of a man of understanding, but it makes itself known even in the midst of fools. A servant who deals wisely has the king's favor, but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully. Proverbs 14:31,33,35 Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. Episode 66 - Keep My Name In Your Mouth
Episode 66 I got Antoinette Allen of likewiselife.com to talk about gossip. I love how the conversation covered every aspect of it from what breeds gossip to the the culture we live in that has a facination with slander and gossip. Talking about people is as natural as breathing, but it's not the oxygen that produces life but the carbon monoxide that silently kills those who take it in. If you want to talk about someone...I know someone who would love His name in your mouth. Listen. Share. Repeat. God Bless. #realchurchmatters #obedienceoveraudience #badforbusiness. Idle lives breed drama Gossip is saying what should not be said Your idle ways are opportunities for the adversary Colossians 3:16-18 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.’ Let the word of Christ dwell in you, don’t be fluent in filthy communication (Ephesians 4:29) Tame that tongue! Turn moments of gossip into opportunities of teaching and admonishing in wisdom It’s easy to keep people names out your mouth when you keep God’s name in it *Bonus Bible* Proverbs 16:28 A dishonest man spreads strife, and a whisperer separates close friends. Bible search results Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. James 3:8-9 but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. 9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God.

Episode 65 - The Escape Route
Episode 65 is here! Think of temptation as a situation, 1 Corinthians 10:13-14 says we are given a way of escape but the escape route is not a way out of the temptation, but a way through the temptation. We are able to endure because of the exit strategy God has given. The escape route is a way out of our thinking and desires—meaning a way out of ourselves. Episode 62 - Why You Mad?
Episode 62! One question will be on the table today: Why you mad? That's what God asked Cain and Jonah, and thats what God is asking us even today. We understand our emotions because they are instictively connected to who we are, but they lack reason. Matter of fact, our emotions open the door to sin which is actively waiting for an oppurtunity to compromise us, dominate us and cause us to betray the person we call ourselves protecting--overselves. It gets deep and we definitely go there this episode. Listen and share. Don't horde this truth for yourself, theres enough to go around lol.  Also, the conversation goes further in our “A Little More Matters” bonus episodes for our Patreon family, for more info on becoming part go to www.patreon.com/realchurchmatters! Why You Mad? Genesis 4:4-8 and Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, but for Cain and his offering he had no regard. So Cain was very angry, and his face fell. The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.” Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. Jude 1:10-11 But these people blaspheme all that they do not understand, and they are destroyed by all that they, like unreasoning animals, understand instinctively. Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam's error and perished in Korah's rebellion. 1 Corinthians 7:37 But whoever is firmly established in his heart, being under no necessity but having his desire under control, and has determined this in his heart, to keep her as his betrothed, he will do well. 1 Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. Romans 6:12 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Psalm 119:133 Establish my footsteps in Your word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me. Job 11:14 14 If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, and let not injustice dwell in your tents. Jonah 4:1-4 4 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. 2 And he prayed to the Lord and said, “O Lord, is not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and relenting from disaster.3 Therefore now, O Lord, please take my life from me, for it is better for me to die than to live.” 4 And the Lord said, “Do you do well to be angry?”

Episode 61 - Sincerely Yours
Episode 61 is here! A few technical difficulties but we proceed. We talking about sincerity with special guest Philip Hall, producer, musician and my brother. We talk about being sincere, authentic, genuine in every facet of our lives. It's something we must address because without true authenticity we are counterfiet in our walk with Christ. We are very aware of what we are doing but we are not aware of the sincerity we are doing it in. Really fun episode and I hope you enjoy it. Episode 60 is here! Forrest flying solo this week talking about the good fight of faith. As much as we may have came to Jesus for some rest, we have unwittingly signed up for the fight of our lives. We have an adversary who understands it's a war so it's time we understand what we truly have been called into. I know we missed a week but we're back like we never left. Hope this one is a blessing to someone. Keep us in your prayers and spread the word.

Episode 59 we ask are you in a good place. You might feel like you're in a good place mentally, emotionally, physically, romanitically or financially. But if you aren't in a good place spiritually, when those planes of existence shift, so does your good place. Episode 58 we talk about heaven. It sounds crazy to say heaven is open to everyone, but it is. All anyone has to do—anyone—is claim it. When you look at it this way, hell will be filled with people who just didn’t want to go through the trouble of claiming their prize. Go figure. I want heaven to be my home. Just like Paul did. Episode 56 - Breaking The Laws Of Nature
Episode 56 is here! Today we talk about the laws of our nature. Just like the law of gravity, people feel it's impossible to live UP to up Christ because this world will always bring you back down. The impossibilities only exist because we lack the faith in God that makes all things possible. Your walk with God doesn't have to end in sinking... Hope you all enjoy this episode! Also, the conversation goes further in our “A Little More Matters” bonus episodes for our Patreon family, for more info on becoming part go to www.patreon.com/realchurchmatters! Breaking The Laws Of Nature Romans 7:18-25 18 For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. 21 So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. 22 For I delight in the law of God, in m y inner being, 23 but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. 24 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. 2 Laws at work: Law of God (law of the spirit) and the law of sin & death I serve the law of God with my inner being (mind) I serve the law of sin with my members (body, flesh) Desire vs. Ability: The possibilities of desire versus the impossibilities of our abilities Romans 8:1-2   8 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. condemnation in this sense meaning “down or according to” • We are free from a life of living according to the law of sin & death With God It Is Possible | Matthew 19:23-26 23 And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 25 When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” 26 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Faith In God Makes It Possible | Matthew 17:20 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Faith in God defies the law of sin and death, Heaven obeys none of the laws of earth. The miracles of God defied the laws of nature as a symbol of how His spirit defies the laws of our physical nature. The Possibilities of Heaven Meet The Impossibilities of Earth | Matthew 6:10 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. We Are Rescued From The Power Of Our Nature | Daniel 6:27  27 He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.” Daniel 3:27 27 And the satraps, the prefects, the governors, and the king's counselors gathered together and saw that the fire had not had any power over the bodies of those men. The hair of their heads was not singed, their cloaks were not harmed, and no smell of fire had come upon them. We do not succumb to the forces of nature because the God in us is greater! 1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Episode 55 - I'm With The Foolishness
Episode 55 is here! And today we are here for the foolishness. We discuss how believers have to embrace looking foolish, stupid + crazy to the world because it’s obedience over everything. How we should focus less on people’s response and more on is God pleased. Hope you all enjoy this episode! Also, the conversation goes further in our “A Little More Matters” bonus episodes for our Patreon family, for more info on becoming part go to www.patreon.com/realchurchmatters! ________________________________________________________________ I’m With The Foolishness 1 Corinthians 2:27 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; What is Foolishness? the quality or state of being ridiculous or wildly unreasonable lack of good sense lack of good judgment; stupidity Acts 9:22 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. Isaiah 29:10-14 And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, 14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.” Acts 19:27-31 27 “Not only is our little business in danger of falling apart, but the temple of our famous goddess Artemis will certainly end up a pile of rubble as her glorious reputation fades to nothing. And this is no mere local matter—the whole world worships our Artemis!” 28-31 That set them off in a frenzy. They ran into the street yelling, “Great Artemis of the Ephesians! Great Artemis of the Ephesians!” They put the whole city in an uproar, stampeding into the stadium, and grabbing two of Paul’s associates on the way, 1 Corinthians 2:18-26 18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Acts 26:24 24 And as he was saying these things in his defense, Festus said with a loud voice, “Paul, you are out of your mind; your great learning is driving you out of your mind.” 2 Corinthians 5:13 If we are out of our mind, it is for God; if we are of sound mind, it is for you. John 10:20 Many of them said, "He is demon-possessed and insane. Why would you listen to Him?” 19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? 1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: wisdom - the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment strength - the influence or power possessed by a person Psalm 71:23-24 23 My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. 24 My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt.

Episode 49 - Am I A Hypocrite?
Episode 49. Today we talk about hypocrisy. For most of us Christians, we’ve either been accused of it or even felt that way towards ourselves at some point in our Christian walk. The term hypocrite is often used as a slur but is it more than that, it's something we should evaluate every single day. Today we dig into what the word says about hypocrisy. Jesus often pointed out hypocrites not to attack but to help us today to know what not to be when we say we are Christians. Enjoy.

Happy Thanksgiving. It's episode 42! This time of year there’s a lot of emphasis on family and for some, that means being alone. This weeks episode we discuss that it’s not good to be alone. Sometimes when we’re going through we like to be left alone, some consider themselves “introverts,” some just say “I’m just not a people-person” but whatever your reasoning it isn’t always good. In fact, God explains that’s it’s not good only two chapters into the Bible. Hope your encouraged by this discussion and provoked to embrace the people God put in your life. Episode 37 we talk about understanding through the lens of reading comprehension. Reading comprehension is the ability to read text, process it, and understand its meaning. In the same manner we should have “Living Comprehension”. A lot of people are living life, but have no idea or understanding about what God the author and finisher of our faith is saying to them in the life He has laid out for them. This one will go down as a favorite of ours. Just good old fashioned #jesustalk Also the conversation goes further in our “A Little More Matters” bonus episodes for our patreon family, for more info on becoming part go to www.patreon.com/realchurchmatters …Enjoy!

Episode 35 - Conditioning The Condition Of The Heart
Episode 35 is now live! The conversation is about the condition of the heart and how our conditioning effects it. This all started from a simple conversation about the "Pavlov's Dog" theory of classical conditioning. Just like those dogs responded to a stimulus, we should ask ourselves, what stimulates us? Why do we respond to it that way? Better yet, how do you respond to God? Our response to Him says so much more about faith. This was an interesting one this week, we even bring back our favorite segment #jesusafterdark lol enjoy. It's all about expectations this week, if you change your expectations, then you can expect a change. Listen hard and live it harder. Episode 32 - Casting Your Cares
Episode 32! There is NOTHING wrong with the Word, the bible is full of people who have heard the Word to the result of belief and obedience. The Word produces nothing but hearers that believe and do. If we don’t see that in you, it’s not because of the seed, it’s because of where the seed was sown. The Word was heard but it entered a mind full of cares, overrun by this aggressive invader that overwhelms every part of the mind and prevents the Word from producing belief and obedience in your life. You need this in your life. Listen and enjoy. Episode 31 - Losing Weight
This weeks episode is all about weight loss. We discuss why so many of us Christians are so overweight. It’s more than the burger you ate last night, more than your lack of exercise. It’s about what’s weighing you down. How everything from our desires to our lack of self-control weigh us down and "so easily beset us." Lots and lots of laughs, baby impersonations, etc but an overall awesome lesson on how we should focus less on LOSING weight and focus more on GAINING health. Episode 9 - How's Your Love Life?
Episode 9 we want to know how's your love life...with God that is. It easy to talk love, but HOW do we show God we love Him? As always, if you have any questions, email us at askme@realchurchmatters.com *Recommended Reading* Matthew 22:36-38 (KJV) 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind 38 This is the first and great commandment. If He First Loved Me, i get to see what love looks like. 1 John 4:19 (KJV) 19 We love him, because he first loved us. John 14:15 (ESV) 15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. Romans 8:38-39 (KJV) 38 For I am persuaded, that neither: death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. We Let Things Separate Us from our love of god. 2 Timothy 3:4 (KJV) 4 Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; John 12:42-43 (KJV) 42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue: 43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. god don’t want your love, he wants his love. He gave His son up for you, he expects the same from you. Matthew 10:37 (KJV) 37 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. God’s Son didn’t live for himself, God expects that from all of his children. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 (KJV) 14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: 15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again. Love of God 2 Thessalonians 3:4-6 (ESV) 4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 3:16-18 (ESV) 16 By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? 18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. 1 Corinthians 16:15 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,) God Gives out of love, he expects you to do the same. When You were hungry, god fed you. He expects you to do the same. John 21:15 (KJV) 15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. Love isn’t just a commandment, it’s a condition. 1 Corinthians 2:7-10 (KJV) 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: 8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Episode 8 - God's Not Dead, Your Faith Is.
Episode 8 week discuss faith through James 2:14-26. What does it mean to have "dead faith"? We talk about faith producing faithfulness from us as opposed to prompting faithfulness from God. As always, if you have any questions, email us at askme@realchurchmatters.com *Recommended Reading* God is not dead, your faith is. James 2:14-26 (ESV) 14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? What do they mean by “work”? A work, labor, action, deed John 3:21 (ESV) 21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” James 3:13 (ESV) 13 Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom. 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good[a] is that? Matthew 23:1-3 (ESV) 23 Then Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, 2 “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, 3 so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice. 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Galatians 5:6 (ESV) 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love. Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 2 Peter 1:5-8 (ESV) 5 For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue,[a] and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. 8 For if these qualities[b] are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Timothy 1:5 (ESV) 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. 1 Corinthians 15:58 (ESV) 58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. 18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! Mark 5:7 (ESV) 7 And crying out with a loud voice, he said, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.” 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; Genesis 22:12 He said, "Do not stretch out your hand against the lad, and do nothing to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” James 1:2-3 (ESV) 2 Count it all joy, my brothers,[a] when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac on the altar. He who had received the promises was ready to offer his one and only son, Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.

Episode 7 - Reading Is Fundamental
Made it to week 7! This week is about reading the Bible, why it's so hard for us, and how the Bible is more than Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. I would love feedback and questions so enjoy and hit me at askme@realchurchmatters.com Scriptures discussed: Psalm 27:4 (ESV) 4 One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire[a] in his temple. John 5:39 (ESV) 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, Matthew 22:28-30 (MSG) Eventually the wife died. Now here’s our question: At the resurrection, whose wife is she? She was a wife to each of them.” 29-33 Jesus answered, “You’re off base on two counts: You don’t know your Bibles, and you don’t know how God works. At the resurrection we’re beyond marriage. As with the angels, all our ecstasies and intimacies then will be with God. Acts 8:29-39 (MSG) 29-30 The Spirit told Philip, “Climb into the chariot.” Running up alongside, Philip heard the eunuch reading Isaiah and asked, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” 31-33 He answered, “How can I without some help?” and invited Philip into the chariot with him. The passage he was reading was this: As a sheep led to slaughter, and quiet as a lamb being sheared, He was silent, saying nothing. He was mocked and put down, never got a fair trial. But who now can count his kin since he’s been taken from the earth? 34-35 The eunuch said, “Tell me, who is the prophet talking about: himself or some other?” Philip grabbed his chance. Using this passage as his text, he preached Jesus to him. Luke 24:44-47 (ESV) 44 Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, 47 and that repentance for[a] the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. Romans 15:4 (ESV) 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Psalm 119:50 (ESV) 50 This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV) 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[a] may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Episode 5 - Does God Care?
New episode is live! Check out the latest episode titled “Does God Care?” We talk about caring. Mary, Martha and whether God cares about the things we tend to care about. Luke 10:38-42 (ESV) 38 Now as they went on their way, Jesus[a] entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39 And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching. 40 But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary.[b] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.” John 12:2-8 (ESV) 2 So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. 3 Mary therefore took a pound[a] of expensive ointment made from pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples (he who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii[b] and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and having charge of the moneybag he used to help himself to what was put into it. 7 Jesus said, “Leave her alone, so that she may keep it[c] for the day of my burial. 8 For the poor you always have with you, but you do not always have me.” 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Luke 9:57-62 (ESV) 57 As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” 58 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.” 59 To another he said, “Follow me.” But he said, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 60 And Jesus[a] said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” 61 Yet another said, “I will follow you, Lord, but let me first say farewell to those at my home.” 62 Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” Mark 4:35-41(ESV) 35 On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” 36 And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. 37 And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. 38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” Matthew 22:15-22 (ESV) 15 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to entangle him in his words. 16 And they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are true and teach the way of God truthfully, and you do not care about anyone's opinion, for you are not swayed by appearances.[a] 17 Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, aware of their malice, said, “Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? 19 Show me the coin for the tax.” And they brought him a denarius.[b] 20 And Jesus said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” 21 They said, “Caesar's.” Then he said to them, “Therefore render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” 22 When they heard it, they marveled. And they left him and went away.
