Episode 37: Pay to Play, Pay to Suck
Today’s episode covers a simple concept that should be applied at every level of business. Guys, you gotta spend money to make money. There are loads of ways to accelerate your success, but they all involve sacrifice upfront whether it be time, money or effort. In this episode, we talk about this principle, how we’ve applied it throughout the years, and why it’s been critical to the success we’ve had. This episode also explains why we’re such fans of high-powered entrepreneurship groups. Video of this podcast is available at YouTube.com/RealBusinessOwners. Episode 36: Our Take on Motivational Content and Continuous Learning
In this episode we discuss the books we’ve been reading: Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz and How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Guys, we’re not book people, and we’ve only recently started to take the medium seriously. That said, it’s already made a difference in our lives! We hope you guys enjoy the lessons we’ve extracted from these books and feel motivated to start reading if you’re not already! Other topics include the value of open-mindedness and why absorbing motivational content without acting is meaningless. Video of this podcast is available at YouTube.com/RealBusinessOwners. In this episode, we cover the whole story from his early success as a mortgage lender to losing almost everything in the market crash to taking a shot in the dark with this “Brand Makers” thing. Episode 34: How to Stop Self-Sabotaging
It’s the strangest thing, our brains tend to respond poorly to change, even when that change is positive (like reaching a new income level). In this episode, we discuss the concept of an upper-limit threshold as well as how to overcome it. Other topics include business “cheat codes” and why you should be careful to not celebrate your wins for too long. Video of this podcast is available at YouTube.com/RealBusinessOwners. Episode 32: How We Approach Content Creation
First thing, we’re humbled by all the attention our podcast and social media have received since we started last year. We didn’t expect 60,000+ followers to hop on in such a short time, and it means a lot that y’all seem to really vibe with what we’re doing.  That stated, we think it’s now safe to say we’re on to something, and we’d like to share what’s helped us with anyone interested in becoming a content creator.  In this episode, we discuss our experience trying to make social media work for our businesses and share tips based on what has and hasn’t performed.  Connect with us: Instagram - @RealBusinessOwners Facebook - Facebook.com/RealBusinessOwners Easier Accounting - EasierAccounting.com

Episode 31: Meet the Partners - with JD Leavitt and Jeremy Woodard
We’re excited to introduce you guys to our business partners JD Leavitt and Jeremy Woodard! Obviously we (Trevor and Kale) typically handle the social media side of things, but JD and Jeremy are just as involved behind the scenes with the five businesses that the four of us co-own. In this episode we actually cover how we’ve arrived at this division of responsibilities and further discuss tips and strategies to make a business partnership work long-term. Other topics include the power of reading, our thoughts on business events, and the balance between client acquisition and fulfillment.  This podcast was recorded while we were out of town attending an event. The recording quality is a little rougher than usual, but we’ll be back in the studio next week!  Connect with us:  Instagram - @RealBusinessOwners Facebook - Facebook.com/RealBusinessOwners Easier Accounting - EasierAccounting.com

Episode 30: Buy a Bigger Jet
Happy holidays everyone! As we roll into 2020 we’re sure a lot of you are setting new goals and looking to boost your ambition. Today’s episode was a bit spontaneous (recorded guerilla style, we’ll be back in the studio the week after next) but we think it’s the perfect message for the new year! Put simply, reaching the next level, whatever that means for you, will require discomfort. It’s not about waiting for the right time, or for an issue to resolve, or for it to feel right. To level up you literally need to force that action or that thing that your previous self wasn’t willing to do!  In this episode we unpack this philosophy, share a few stories, and also cover how to create an environment where you can optimize yourself for that next big breakthrough.  Connect with us: Instagram - @RealBusinessOwners Facebook - Facebook.com/RealBusinessOwners Easier Accounting - EasierAccounting.com

Episode 29: STOP Sugarcoating
This episode is essentially the flip side to our podcast on appreciating your employees (episode 26). Put simply, we live in a sugarcoated society, and sometimes that means you’re gonna look like an asshole for calling things as they are. In this episode we discuss what we believe is the cause of this, why it’s important to let people know when they fuck up, and tips for how to go about it properly. Ali Awad, AKA the CEO Lawyer, is one of those perfect examples of what we preach regarding social media and providing VALUE before you ask for business! Across a slew of social media platforms, Ali has found incredible success by sharing free legal advice and letting karma do the rest!  Well... that might be simplifying things a bit, but that’s why we’re so excited to finally have him on the podcast! In this episode we get into greater detail regarding Ali’s journey, how he’s utilized social media to build his business (including Tik Tok), and under what circumstances it’s appropriate to walk away from one’s business.  Connect with Ali:  Instagram - @CEOLawyer  Website - AliAwadLaw.com  Connect with us:  Instagram - @RealBusinessOwners  Facebook - Facebook.com/RealBusinessOwners  Easier Accounting - EasierAccounting.com

Episode 20: Screw Your Safety Net
Despite what you might assume, building a “safety cushion” of 5-10K just to have in case “something bad happens” is counterproductive for anyone looking to get into business. This is especially true if an unwillingness to part with this lump sum prevents you from taking advantage of a golden opportunity. You’re much more likely to succeed as an entrepreneur if you can light a fire under your ass, and the comfort of a safety net isn’t doing you any favors in that regard. As always, we don’t advocate being reckless with your money, but this episode covers in detail why we’re against clinging to a petty emergency fund. Episode 19: Kale on Getting Blindsided by Problems as a New Entrepreneur
Today's message is simple, don't wait to start your business journey! No one is ever really prepared to make the jump, but forcing yourself to start the process will in turn force you to fill in those knowledge gaps! In this episode, Kale illustrates this point with a handful of stories from when he first started out as an entrepreneur. He touches on major oversights from that time, such as misclassifying W2 employees as independent contractors, and how, while initially frustrating, these problems were a necessary part of his journey. Episode 13: Check Your Intentions, Break out of the Rut!
It’s altogether too easy to go about your day and simply react to issues on a case by case basis. Maintaining your current state is straightforward, it’s the easy route. Unfortunately, this won’t get you anywhere new because it’s stagnation. Real progress comes from committing to a specific goal and letting that goal inform each and every decision. There should be real INTENT behind each of your decisions, otherwise you’ll end up making short-term choices that don't connect with a long-term goal. There are so many benefits to this including increased alertness, improved circulation, and reduced stress! Listen to a podcast. Put good shit in your head!! Listen to something that will motivate or challenge you for 30 minutes. Consider doing this while you exercise to kill two birds with one stone! Eat a healthy breakfast.
