Welcome to a new series of Realising Your Potential.

Every week Anj speaks to inspiring women about their leadership journeys, the challenges they’ve faced and the lessons they’ve learnt. Together they explore what organisations can do to drive gender equality and how we can all realise our potential.

In the final episode of this series, Anj speaks with none other than June Sarpong OBE, a true trailblazer. June has had an amazing career: she's been one of the most recognisable faces on British television; she's written the award-winning books "Diversify," "The Power of Women," and "The Power of Privilege" (with a fourth book, "The Only One in the Room," coming out in Summer 2022); and she's hosted some historical events such as Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday, interviewed some of the world's biggest names, and worked extensively with Prince Charles as an ambassador for the Prince's Trust.

Today, Anj and June cover everything from affirmations to the pivotal moments that inspired June to write Diversify, as well as tons of practical advice on how to have better conversations about diversity and inclusion as an organisation, team, or individual.

We believe in the power of conversation and gaining new ways of thinking that inspire, educate and empower you to Realise Your Potential.

Realising Your Potential In Conversation with Professional Athlete, Michelle Fokam

This week we had the joy of speaking to the bold, wise and insightful Michelle Fokam. Michelle is a recent RICE University graduate with a degree in Psychology and a host of impressive athletic achievements. With big goals for her future, Michelle Fokam is undoubtedly a name we’ll see in Elite sports for years to come.

As Michelle makes the move to become a professional athlete, she also sits on the board of the EPOG (Enjoyable Pain of Growth) Academy - an organisation making personal development a part of education. Alongside this, the athlete works with the Make A Play Foundation (MAP) - a non-profit organization that prepares underrepresented athletes for executive careers in competitive industries.

In this episode Michelle shares her thoughts on the importance of positive self-talk, and affirmations, and explains how we underestimate our own minds and the impact they have on performance. We hear about preparation for Olympic tryouts plus advice on overcoming adversity and listening to the body and the mind. Anj and Michelle chat team dynamics, feedback, coaching, being at one with exercise, and much, much more. We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did!

Realising Your Potential Series 2 Episode 6 In Conversation with Expert in Organisational Motivation, Dr. Jason Fox

Realising Your Potential Series 2 Episode 6 In Conversation with Expert in Organisational Motivation, Dr. Jason Fox

In this week's episode of Realising Your Potential, Anj talks to the fascinating Dr Jason Fox. Dr Fox is a best selling author, facilitator, keynote speaker, and advisor. He’s an expert in motivation and behaviour change, but don’t call him a thought leader, he’s a Wizard.

Their conversation explores ideas of curiosity, empathy and discernment. Anj and Dr Fox talk about the choices we make and how they shape who we are. You’ll hear meaningful and nuanced approaches to scaling motivational behaviour and driving progress in the workplace.

Perhaps most exciting, are Dr Fox’s ideas around a third approach to motivation; the progress principle. Touching on what he calls, ‘The pantomime of busyness’ we learn how to avoid getting swept up in ‘default work’ and behaviours that lead to the delusion of progress, and unproductive loops. He talks about creating space for reflection - the rituals that go against the grain of busyness to progress the things that matter.  We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did making it.

Realising Your Potential Series 2 Episode 3 In Conversation with Executive Coach, Claire Salvetti

In the third episode of Realising Your Potential, we’ve the great pleasure of welcoming Executive Coach Claire Salvetti. Claire moved from Senior roles in Marketing, Creative and Communications to become a Coach, finding what she calls her purpose - to facilitate and inspire self belief in others. Claire’s curiosity about human dynamics developed as a teenager when she began to find her own voice. This coupled with the sense of adventure she credits to her family makes her an unstoppable force.

Anj and Claire talk about performance, feedback and incremental learning. You’ll hear about vulnerability, authenticity, and self knowledge, alongside cultivating values. Claire believes good leadership comes from the ability to socially influence others, she knows a title doesn’t automatically equate to leadership skills. It's about understanding who your people are and what motivates them. It’s a drive to be constantly learning. As a Leader and Coach, Claire believes in a mindful, thoughtful and curious space. With this comes the importance of self reflection -  ‘Being on the balcony of your own life’ - observing and noticing what’s going on for you.

Thanks for listening and we hope you love the show!
