Episode 85 Fail Fast, Fail Forward, Fail Frequently with Special Guest J. Massey

J. Massey is the CEO and Founder of Cashflow Diary, a training and development brand for building short-term rental entrepreneurs. Before Cashflow Diary, J. raised capital and invested in traditional real estate (single-family homes, note brokering and holding, cell phone towers, commercial real estate, and apartment buildings). Eventually, he built his real estate investing training program to share what he learns continuously through his years of successful, real-world experience owning hundreds of traditional long-term housing units. When one of his students asked him what he knew about the world of short-term rentals, the answer was not very much.

Once J. started learning about short-term rental strategies, he saw a world of opportunity in front of him. He built his very own 34-unit(46 bedrooms)-and-counting short-term rental business from scratch — which he still owns, grows, and operates — and has shifted his Cashflow Diary brand to focus exclusively on building and training short-term rental entrepreneurs. Now he’s built a community of thousands of like-minded people from 16 countries that he learns from every day and shares his knowledge through his Cashflow Diary podcast, YouTube channel, Facebook groups, and annual Short-Term Rental Summit training events.

Episode 83 If James Bond, Tony Robbins, and his University Professor was one you would get our Special Guest Marco Robert

Episode 83 If James Bond, Tony Robbins, and his University Professor was one you would get our Special Guest Marco Robert

Marco Robert is an international business consultant and inspirational speaker. Whether he’s shining on stage in front of thousands of people in Florida, advising members of a board of directors in South Africa, or coaching the CEO of a company in Malaysia, he can be described as a result-driven-disrupter. Equipped with the BOSS, his proprietary business framework, he challenges the status quo and finds solutions to the toughest business challenges.

His entrepreneurial spirit was seeded at a young age as an apprentice in his family’s business. Later it sprouted on the benches of academia and finally blossomed through nearly three decades of business experiences.

A cross between James Bond, Tony Robbins, and my favorite University professor. He lives the high-octane life of a jet setter. At any given time, you could run into him on a flight from San Francisco to Singapore or a train from Zurich to Paris. He speaks several languages. His suits are tailor-made in Asia and South Africa. And he is an adept of single malts whiskeys and an erudite wine connoisseur.

He’s a socialite who loves the company of others, but for a few months every year, he isolates himself at his lake house, hidden somewhere in Northern Canada, to research and write.

An unequaled business master, he understands all the different facets of business better than any of his contemporaries. Whether talking finance, leadership, customer service, re-organization, sales & marketing, operations, or any of dozens of business topics, Marco holds himself with confidence.

Episode 74 1031 Exchange with Special Guests Michael Brady and Alex Shandrovsky

Episode 74 1031 Exchange with Special Guests Michael Brady and Alex Shandrovsky

We are back with our Vendor Series and this week we have two great guests to share with us the ins and outs of 1031 Exchange.

A §1031 Exchange is a valuable tax strategy for those selling and buying real estate for investment. Whenever a business or investment property is sold and there is a gain, generally the person selling the property has to pay taxes on the gain at the time of sale. IRC §1031 provides an exception and allows payment of the tax on the gain to be deferred if the seller reinvests the proceeds in a like-kind property as part of a qualifying §1031 Exchange.

By exchanging one property for another, the property owner can defer federal and state* capital gains taxes, leaving greater net profits for reinvestment. In addition to improving cash flow, §1031 Exchanges also allow investors to shift an investment from one geographic region to another, trade older properties for newer ones, leverage existing equity, and diversify, improve and/or increase a real estate portfolio.

Tune in NOW from our 1031 Exchange Experts as they break it down!!

He focuses on advocacy, risk management and exceeding client’s personal definitions of success. By staying true to those core values, he has been part of the top team in the East Bay area and sells over $180M per year (with over $1.5B sold in total) with an average price point of $1.2M. Most recently Hans created a podcast called "Another Way to Play," so he could share the value of creating your own path and building a life of freedom. He believes that if you trade hours for dollars, you will never achieve true freedom in your life. He brings inspirational and practical content to listeners at their own personal crossroads by interviewing entrepreneurs, thought leaders and industry experts to learn how they achieved freedom in their lives.

"In my 30 years on this planet, I've learned a few lessons that I apply to everything I do. The first is that all goals must be written down and visible on a daily basis. The second is that there’s no such thing as overnight success and consistent work is the only path to success. Finally, everything is the way it is because someone made it that way. So to understand people is to understand the world." -Hans Struzyna

Episode 68 "The Comfort Zone" with your hosts Justin and Keisha Brooks

Episode 68 "The Comfort Zone" with your hosts Justin and Keisha Brooks

This week's new episode we discuss “The Comfort Zone.” While we share with you the 4 main areas of the comfort zone we also share with you our own transparency of where we are within the comfort zone...

The 4 main areas of The Comfort Zone are...

  • Comfort zone
  • Fear zone
  • Learning zone
  • Growth Zone

The comfort zone model is meant to be put on repeat. Once goals are achieved, as an entrepreneur we make room to grow and level up. We are always lingering in a comfort zone, even once a goal has been achieved. For example, many will set a goal to become healthier as we approach the New Year. In doing so a person must get out of their "comfort zone" to become disciplined and establish daily routines and practices. Once the healthy change is established and the goal is achieved, this is where most people fail by getting comfortable at where they are. Then they fail to set new goals to maintain all the effort and work they put into getting where they are in the present, which is "the comfort zone."

So take the opportunity to learn and grow, and...

Tune in as we break down each area and give you our real-life scenarios and how to get out of your comfort zone for 2020!!

Episode 67 Good Deal VS Bad Deal with your Hosts

Episode 67 Good Deal VS Bad Deal with your Hosts

It’s just the two of “Us”. This week we’re going to talk about a Good Deal VS Bad Deal, and not in the way you are thinking. We will talk on how to restructure a deal so that it is beneficial for everyone involved. There are a couple of key components that we want to highlight, and that has an established mission, vision, goals and core values. Most of the time it isn't a bad business deal it is the mission, vision, goals, and core values that didn't line up from the start which caused the deal to go south.

Interviewing your prospect is so important to figure out if you can add value to one another. Going off another person's review or experience isn't enough, because again if your mission, vision, goals, and core values don't align then the deal may not be a good deal. Relationships are important, but every good relationship may not mean a good business deal, separate the two.

Episode 49 A Big WHY is Not Enough

Episode 49 A Big WHY is Not Enough

You can't say the right thing to the wrong person, and you can't say the wrong thing to the right person...

Who do you TRUST with your big WHY?

There is no one way to do anything. We are all unique and that shows in our finger prints and DNA. If we all had the same problems, we all would all get the same results.

Be weary of the teacher who is not doing at scale what they are teaching you to do.

It is in that pain that your story begins to take form. You must be willing to transform your thinking to speak from a scar and not an open wound. Most individuals are not sure how to share their hero's journey or story. They are caught in the feeling of what may have occurred, or they are still in the climax of their story. Both of us have had the opportunity to share our hero's journey. It is usually in the journey where individuals face defeat and victory.

We take you there.

Are you ready?
