Failure IS an option
Tone it down or turn it up?
The Day of Small Beginnings...
There are times when we forget how far we've come, and we begin to doubt whether or not everything we're doing is worth the struggle. In those times, we must remember where we've been and how God has brought us through so many things to get us through our trials. If you're struggling and you're tempted to just walk away from it all, tune in and hear my thoughts on this topic. You're not alone! So, hang on.

The Action in Distraction...
Just when we think we're making progress, we're hit with annoying little delays, obstructions, challenges, deterrents, etc. But we can't let those things keep us from continuing on our journey. Injuries, illness, poverty, trauma, and all sorts of other things might threaten to knock us off the path, but God can always pull us back onto it. When you're experiencing setbacks, don't forget that those trials are temporary. God's got you!

Bubbles...
We are all living in our own little "bubble" whether we mean to be or not. And many times, depending on what is happening on the inside, we may not notice what is going on outside. By the time we have everything under control inside, venturing out can seem like an impossible chore. So, how do we live our lives without limiting our lives? Hope. We maintain and consistently work toward growing our hope. These days it seems like some force out there doesn't want us to do that but be vigilant! Hope is the key!

Tune in to Hope
Everything we hear these days leaves us feeling more and more hopeless. My advice to you is to diligently look for what's true. Turn off the mainstream media and the alternative media. Tune in to faith, tune in to your environment, pay attention to what you can see and hear and then make your call on what is actually going on in the world. So much is being spun to fit narratives on either side of the fence and none of it is rooted in God's plan for us. So, we must cling to our faith and our hope if we are to fight this battle victoriously.

On the Way...
Sometimes it looks like there is nothing else for us, but God wants us to wait until He gives us the go ahead before we decide that we're all finished here. We have to trust that He is always leading us toward our purpose...whether we can see what He's doing or not.

Malicious Ministry? No thanks.
After careful consideration, I have decided to stop listening to people who push fear-mongering, and use shock tactics to get their point across. It’s vulgar and not compassionate at all. If you want to minister, be sure that you’re looking at the problem for more than just one perspective. Otherwise you’re not doing it for God. You’re doing it for yourself and for what you think is right. But what matters most as that we follow what God tells us is right. And that means we seek out compassionate solutions for everyone involved, not just the people on our side.
Have a Blessed Easter!
As we celebrate the Easter holiday, something to keep in mind is that we always need to be willing to listen for God's voice in everything we do. The world tries very hard to drown Him out, but we need to be sure that we are doing everything we can to hear Him.

Dis-Comfort Zones
Are you spending too much time being comfortable and not enough time confronting truths in your life? Or even on the grander scale of what's happening in the world? God wants His people to be warriors! It's time to take off the blinders and really look at what the demons are doing out there. If we're ever going to make a difference, we have to first understand what our enemy is capable of. Join me on Leading the Follower for more discussion about what it means to be a warrior for God.

Whether you know it or not...
Don't ever think that your efforts have no value. Even when no one sees what you are doing, every step you take adds to your overall progress. And in this journey we call life, there are a whole lot of steps to take. So, never take any progress for granted. Someone, somewhere needs you to keep doing what you're doing. I'm talking about progress today on the podcast. Thanks for stopping by!

Have No Fear
Are you afraid? I mean, really scared to venture out and do the things you need to do. If so, why? Did you know that God tells us in His word that we should not be afraid. He says this 365 times in the Bible, so I think He means it! Today I'm talking about the things that unsettle me and why I refuse to be afraid simply because "they" want me to live my life in fear. Happy Fearless Monday!

Get Back in the Game
We all reach a point where we need to step back and do some healing. But we can't stay there forever. Once we make a little progress, in order to have complete healing, we must be willing to take a step forward and do what we need to do to reach our next level. We may not feel ready, but when God prompts us, we must trust that He knows what we're able to do better than we do. Listen today for a little encouragement.

Broken Circles
There are times when we need to break away from our "herd" and take care of ourselves without anyone else's involvement. This isn't because we don't care about others. It's because we need time with our own thoughts and with God, to sort out the things that are causing us pain or frustration. We need time without the noise that comes with family and friendships and other relationships. And, hopefully, the connections we make will be strong enough to allow us that time when we need it. Today, I'm talking about how we take care of ourselves, inside and outside of our circles.

Learning to Heal
When we've been through bad things, it can take a very long time to recover. We must be honest with ourselves and actively pursue our healing. If we are to find peace and to be able to move forward, we absolutely must put in the effort. Some of us have been taught that if bad things happen, we just have to accept them. But the truth is, we can always fight back. We can always step up and defend ourselves against the things that are determined to tear us down. And God will help us. All we have to do is reach out.

Sticks and Stones
Words really can hurt. In today’s podcast, I talk about the impact of our words on others and how we should approach conflict if we are interested in leaving the situation better than we found it. Nobody’s perfect. We all have our reasons for responding to things the way that we do, but if we take a little time to consider our intent and the imprint we will have on the other person, we may find it a little easier to approach any conflict in a more productive way. And in doing so, we protect our energy and allow ourselves a better opportunity to heal from trauma, use our gifts, and grow our relationship with God.

Under the Iceberg
What I wouldn't give to hear something genuine. These days, it seems like more and more people are content to feed on content that is simply the most palatable part of the story...even if it means they aren't getting the whole truth. In some cases, they aren't getting any portion of the truth. Why are we okay with this? I'm actually not, and so, I'm talking about it here today. Don't be afraid to be genuine. We need more of that.

Happy Valentine's Day...
For those who celebrate this day, I wish you a Happy Valentine's Day! For those who don't...well, I'm right there with you. It's never been my favorite, but to each his or her own.
This episode is all about understanding God's plan for your life and how He is always there for us...even when we're sure He's given up on us. Forgive me for getting a little emotional as I talk about this. I was going to edit out the rough spots, but I figured you might benefit more from hearing the whole statement as it hit me. And it hit me a little hard today. But don't worry, I'm good. Sometimes God's love is just a little overwhelming. I never promised to be polished, so you'll just have to accept me as I am...tears and all.

Get up!
This past week, as I reflected on things I had seen and heard, it occurred to me that many of us are hanging onto things we no longer need to hang on to. You probably knew that already. But today, I'm talking a bit about how we need to let go of our traumas and stop commemorating them, so that we can finally move on. It's time to get up and find new hope!

Have you ever set a goal and then attempted to take action, only to run right smack into a brick wall? Well, it's the story of my life. And I'm here to share it with you. I hope you enjoy today's rather disjointed podcast. Please excuse the choppiness as I was attacked by allergens at a few points during my recording. I'm feeling much better now, thanks.

Bad Influence
In this upside-down society we live in, it’s hard to know how to make a difference. In today’s podcast, I’m talking about this trend for young people to beat someone up and then take a video of it in hopes of getting likes. This is a topic that really gets under my skin. I’ve never been a fan of gratuitous posting on social media and I hate the whole concept of rewarding stupid or evil behavior with likes or follows. There is nothing more frustrating than scrolling through your feed and seeing the same ridiculous video posted twenty times by people who are trying to maintain relevance by using a video to spark anger or outrage. Stop giving attention to all of the negative things that thrive on attention. We need to stop giving so much value to things that add no value to our world.

Take the Wheel...
**I don’t do Trigger Warnings, but I want to let you know that I do mention some things during this podcast that may be difficult for young ears to understand. Just be aware of that. Thanks!**
First of all, I want to apologize in advance for the quality of this recording. A portion was done in my car and another portion was done while I was trying to multi-task. Once you get past that, I’m talking about some things that I’ve learned about when we need to give up control and when we need to take it back. It’s a lot to absorb, but a good conversation to have. Listen to Leading the Follower today for some interesting insights into what it means to “take the wheel.”

Mentioned – Finding Purpose in the Pain by Brenda W. McIntyre
On the Inside
Our society places way too much emphasis on what something looks like on the outside. To the point that each of us has our own way of automatically assessing others simply based on the way they look. It's my belief that we'd do better to stop with the labels and simply talk to each other. It takes a lot to get to know someone and even more than that to actually understand them. When we put labels on each other, we limit our ability to truly know one another. What would happen if we just saw God's children as fellow human beings? Will we ever know?

Today's Pondering~Say What?
Is it really a big deal if we drop a curse word here and there? Why are some people so quick criticize you for dropping an f-bomb, but not at all concerned that there are individuals in power out there who are hurting children, taking advantage of the less fortunate, and doing many other evil things for the sake of boosting their own egos and lining their own pockets? Seems like a good time to choose your battles, people. Listen to today's podcast for my take on the whole rasserfrassin' mess.

Today's Pondering~The right reasons...
When we're ready to tell our story, will our audience be ready to hear it? Some things to consider before we begin sharing the ugly details of our particular traumas, we need to be sure that we have done the necessary healing so that we aren't simply throwing our pain at others and expecting them to catch it and hold it for us. When we put it out there, let it be for the good of the audience and not simply for vengeance or retribution. Listen to today's podcast for more insights on this difficult topic.

Today's Pondering~Too much?
Are you living in abundance without even realizing it? Or do you know that you have everything you need, but just aren’t sure what to do with it? Sometimes, God is waiting for use to take action and put the tools He has given us to good use. He knows we’re tired. He knows we’re confused. He also knows that when we step up and start doing our part, we’ll be ready to let Him take us to the next level. Listen to today’s podcast for a little insight into how we sometimes get tripped up by all of the blessings God pours into our lives and what we can do to get untangled.

God will make you rest. Especially if you’re the type of person who thinks they have to work constantly to be worthy of occupying space in the world. Today's Pondering~Was Ebenezer in Survival Mode?
Seems like an odd question, yes. But I had to ask myself this as I thought about how my own irritations and disappointments impact my interactions with others. Are you being a Scrooge without intending to? Is it really fair to characterize negativity by calling someone a Scrooge at this time of year? Maybe he just needed a little help. Could we give him the benefit of the doubt? Listen to today's podcast and hear what I believe his side of things may have been.

Today's Pondering~Acceptable Sleep...
Are you awake? Do you even know if you are? Sometimes it’s hard to tell. And sometimes, we don’t want to be awake. Sometimes, we just want to sleep in and enjoy a little rest when we’re exhausted by what we have to see, hear and do each week. In today’s podcast, I’m going to talk a bit about what kind of sleep is acceptable. I’m also going to talk a little about Obama’s new movie on Netflix, Leave the World Behind. Seems it’s just a bit more of a “sleeping pill” than anything else. But there’s something to it. Listen for my take on the film’s agenda and how it fits into the chaos that surrounds us in today’s world.

Role (not Roll) Call - Part 2
Sometimes it's nice to have an example. Just something to help us understand what is being presented to us. I like to think that my role here is to be an example. I like to think that through sharing my experiences, I can help others who are going through things that are similar to the things I've gone through. This isn't always the case, but more often than not, the things we are willing to share can be very beneficial to those who are struggling to understand the purpose of what they are going through. That's my role. At least for now.

Role (not Roll) Call
Why is it that some books in the Bible focus on listing out names and calling out the roles that some people were going to play in a given time period or experience? Why isn't it that easy for us today? I mean, wouldn't you like to have some sort of concrete understanding of what your role here is and why you are here? Let's talk about that for a minute.

Pick Your Battles...
In these days of chaos and disappointment, we truly need to be wise about which battles we fight and which ones we hand off to the next warrior. Not all battles are ours to take on, however, every battle we do step into gives us the strength to fight another day. And God never sends us into battle without equipping us. Just don't get lost in the fight! Listen to today's podcast for more of my uncollected thoughts on picking your battles.

A Mind to Work...
Nehemiah tells us of how the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt, even amidst great opposition. Often, when we're rebuilding a broken portion of ourselves or our lives, we face opposition as well. We have to keep the faith and press forward knowing that God never sends us into a battle He hasn't equipped us for. And if we're fighting a battle for which we don't feel equipped, well...perhaps we weren't actually invited to that one. Listen and be amazed and amused by my lack of podcasting prowess.
