Let’s talk about permission to evolve in motherhood with Kelley Oswin

Let’s talk about permission to evolve in motherhood with Kelley Oswin

Today I am sharing one of the most popular episodes on my podcasts. The evolution of motherhood.

Kelley and I dive into the evolving roles of motherhood and how mothers are essentially our first “life coach”.  We talk about the importance of letting go of guilt and creating space for gentleness so we can ask for help and be fully present for our children.

Kelley shares her story from the early days of being a mother and shares all the ‘realness’. Kelley believes her story can help redefine motherhood, “because it is all about how we can use our own inner healing as a pathway to motherhood.

That we can allow ourselves to move through guilt, shame, insecurities by further exploring the roots of those challenges in a way that helps us heal them.

I’m also very big on releasing the “right” and “wrong” of motherhood and to explore motherhood as everyone’s “right” journey and that our children do indeed choose us as a way for us to move through our own Self and to become who our children need us to be for them and their healing. It is about releasing self judgement and moving to unconditional love.”

Writing the theme song of your life and rewriting the narrative with Emma G

“I love myself and I am okay”

*Trigger warning at approx 10mins in about rape and sexual assault*

Emma is so very passionate about using her gifts to help elevate the voices of children and youth. We discussed how her work is helping our youngest population to find themselves now and know that it’s ok to not be okay.

She focuses on fostering their mental, emotional and physical health through song writing and expression. Writing empowering songs on their real life experiences and the alchemy of self healing through song writing.

“Rewriting the narrative behind the misconceptions of what it means to be an artist; singer/songwriter/artivist/author Emma G uses the power of her melodies, lyrics and music to hammer home messages of radical compassion, love, the strength of vulnerability, and empowerment with a soul-pop/rock sound that is engaging, inspiring and appealing to a hugely diverse audience.

With an eclectic sound that is a combination of Pink, Sia, Natalie Merchant, Amy Winehouse, and Alanis Morrissette, Emma G has spent the entirety of 2020 releasing a new single at least every six weeks. I have it all but I don’t do it all and that’s the difference with Amy Simpson

I have it all but I don’t do it all and that’s the difference with Amy Simpson

“I have it all but I don’t do it all and that’s difference” Amy Simpson

I had the honour of sitting with Amy and talking about motherhood and entrepreneurship. Join us for this powerful conversation on having it all and what it takes to do it all.

She shared her experience with wanting to contribute to her community, family and clients.

Redefining Motherhood for Amy she said she learned she desired more while on maternity leave and really didn’t expect it.

She felt like she had everything that was on the ‘prescribed path’ and becoming a mom she realized she wanted more and that it’s okay to grow and develop. All while navigating all the feelings that come with desiring more and feeling like “shouldn’t it be enough?”

Amy is a mother, a wife, a realtor and a renovation business owner. Her commitment to her clients is through educating them on the process to allow for a positive and seamless transition to their new home. She can assist you in leveraging her experience to help individuals build wealth through real estate. If it is finding the diamond in the rough, getting first time home buyers into the market or finding a home to outfit for your later years, she has the resources. She meets every new client like a new adventure, with energy, integrity and endless passion.

Prior to Real Estate, her education and background was in the medical field.  She attended Western University, where she earned a degree in Medical Science with a minor in Criminology. Continuing her education at University of Toronto, she earned a Degree in Medical Radiation Sciences in conjunction with a diploma in Nuclear Medicine followed by a certificate for Magnetic Resonance Imaging from the Michener Institute. She worked in the medical field for over a decade before jumping into Real Estate full time. The hospital environment has ingrained an incredible work ethic and discipline in her life.

In Amy's spare time she enjoys renovating their own home, spending days on Lake Simcoe and connecting with her community of 100 Women Who Care South Simcoe.

Everyday I wake up and choose to redefine what it means to be a mother and entrepreneur during the pandemic with Colleen McKay

Everyday I wake up and choose to redefine what it means to be a mother and entrepreneur during the pandemic with Colleen McKay

So honoured to sit with Colleen and talk all things motherhood, toddlers, second babies, relationships and body confidence all mixed in with redefining entrepreneurship as a mother during the pandemic.

We have a beautiful history together and I am so honoured to dive into our experiences as entrepreneurial mothers trained in NLP.

Colleen shared she wakes up “every day with the mindset and choice to redefine what it means to be a mother and entrepreneur in a pandemic.” This mindset we both agreed is how we can practice resiliency. Permission to practice self-compassion and love during the most unpredictable time of our lives.

Colleen has been a top-earning salesperson in the Insurance, Alternative Investments, Private Lending, and Mortgage space for many years. She has been specializing in entrepreneurs, business owners and their financial picture since the beginning of her career. It always seemed like a natural fit for her as an entrepreneur herself. Colleen found success at a young age by pouring herself into every sales lecture, entrepreneurial seminar, and Neuro-Linguistic Programing course possible. But learning these techniques was only the first step. Year over year, she put in the work to adapt and adopt countless strategies to perfect the formula of success and growth. Fast forward to now, she is a mother of four, two humans, two fur babies, a wife and a coach who has presented successful sales strategies and techniques to crowds of over 300 people as well as personal one-on-one coaching to help friends, family, and colleagues.

Living life intentionally and with inspired action with Dimple Arora

Living life intentionally and with inspired action with Dimple Arora

Today I sat down with Dimple and what a beautiful conversation we had.

We talked about how her family utilized behavioural flexibility to adapt to the new life of 2020 and how she and her family thrived.

Intentionally living and taking inspired action are just some of the ways Dimple lives an empowered life.

She shared her story of Becoming and how she heals herself and pain. I am so honoured to share her story with you today.

I use my story to teach women how to parent with love, respect and wisdom right from birth.  I wrote my story in the book Simply...Woman: Stories from 30 Magnificent Women who have Risen Against the Odds.

My mission is to create healthier, happier and empowered families by changing the paradigm of how we show up in our parenting, ensuring that each soul is given the opportunity to heal and live authentically from their highest self and potential.

I had a traumatic childhood of abuse and health issues.  By the time I was in my 30's, I lost my career due to fibromyalgia.  I spent years healing so I could become a mother.   I became a mother with conscious intention and felt better than ever.  I want all moms to feel healed so that all  kids have emotional regulation tools, self-worth, hold empowering beliefs and achieve optimal physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health right from childhood.   I want to play a part in helping us raise a generation that doesn't require healing.

I use nutrition, mindfulness, EFT/NLP and energy medicine to help women, kids and tweens heal what's holding them back from being the most empowered versions of themselves.

I have been working with Bosun for almost 2 months now and I LOVE the support.

Nicole shared how important it is for her to honour the season and phase of motherhood she is in because everything is temporary. We talk about what it means to have it all and how powerful it is to bring people in and on to build the team at home and in the business.

“I feel that my experiences / the role I have supporting many mothers that work for Bosun can inspire moms wondering how to find balance & not feeling the guilt society puts on us”.

Make it okay for every mom to ask for help with Gabriella Israel

This week I connected to Gaby and she shared her story on what it means to Redefine Motherhood.  We talk about the “shadow side of motherhood”.

Gaby was a new mother to a micro-preemie, and going through an emergency c-section, a long NICU journey and a bumpy post-NICU journey.Gaby went from being a 30-something pregnant woman with a 6 figure job, to losing her pregnancy, losing her job with health insurance, all with a child in critical condition.

*Content warning* Gaby shares her experience with post-partum depression and suicidal thoughts. As she suffered with late on-set PPD, PPA and PTSD and also became suicidal.

Gaby shares her story to help other mothers know they are not alone.

“Through the past 5 years, I've been able to redefine motherhood for myself, as my journey to being a mom didn't follow a typical arc, and I've also been able to redefine what it means to be a working mom through starting a company with my husband, and the values we espouse as well as the way we are changing the narrative for companies with our family-first, people-centric culture and remote and flexible working environment.”

Gaby and her husband Mike are in the final stages of launching a podcast called Mixing Business with Pleasure, in which they feature other couples in a committed relationship who also work and own a business together.

Unpacking motherhood as a return back to self with Karen Hicks

Unpacking motherhood as a return back to self with Karen Hicks

Karen and I had some BIG conversations about what it means to 'reject' the term "motherhood". Why at 6 weeks we are told that we are 'supposed to return back to ourself' because that's when we can have sex again. There is so much more wrapped up in becoming who are in this next chapter. Using sex as the defining measure of when we can 'be' back to 'normal' can set us up for so much disappointment.

We dive into the framework of resilience and the whole body. Karen describes the four bodies as mental, emotional, physical and spiritual and how when we only focus on one, we deplete the others. We dive into what it means to mother from depletion and self-sacrifice and why it is so important for us to regenerate.

We look at the evolution of 'supermom' and what it means to do it all without asking for help. And how for generations we have carried on the beliefs of our grandmothers. And why we need the awareness so we can change it and do it differently.

We as women need to stop trying to do it all like a man and trust in the way we were designed and tap into the divine feminine energy.

"In some ways, I reject the phrase "motherhood" because it comes with a whole set of expectations/assumptions that are unrealistic and unattainable.  Delving into the framework of Motherhood can keep us from the framework of self. Does that make sense? I, as a women, am not motherhood -  I am me and I have a personhood.  Being a mom is just one aspect of my personhood."

I'm still growing up & still figuring it out.  And happy to be doing so.  After working 30 years'ish, I stepped into the next chapter...leaving conventional employment and doing my own thing.  I consider myself, currently ('cause you know, evolution lol), a wellness facilitator and mentor to individuals, groups and organizations.

Sex, Money and embodying our divine feminine with Jess Williams

Sex, Money and embodying our divine feminine with Jess Williams

Jess and I shared our experiences in motherhood and entrepreneurship and the power of embodying feminine and masculine energy to bring more abundance into every area of our life.

We talk about money stories, surrendering and letting go of control so we can trust, receive help and receive. We take it even deeper and unpack the power of creating a safe container for pleasure, joy, bliss and sex with our partner.

I have a powerful journey that has lined me up with my dream lifestyle, my twin flame and now having twin babies!  I've been a spiritual business boss babe for the past 4 years, running a very successful Spiritual Coaching Business while simultaneously building an empire with an MLM called DoTerra!

THE TWINS BROUGHT QUITE A TWIST. I've gone from scheduling 10 sales calls a day to having challenges squeezing in time for my own self care. Thankfully I had built my mlm team enough for it to financially support me and my family. I've now discovered a sweet spot in life somewhere between balancing my business, relationships, babies and my personal practice.

While being a new mom I've been able to boost the passion in my relationship, build a foundational business and tap deeply into divine love. I am so proud of myself for being able to show up as a hot, well and wealthy mom and I'm SO looking forward to sharing my journey with the world.

Leads a team of epic Wellnesspreneur Boss babes where we empower people to use natural solutions as modern day medicine.

My journey through child loss, mental health, self care lead me back to myself Emma Needleman

My journey through child loss, mental health, self care lead me back to myself Emma Needleman

Emma shared pieces of her journey of becoming a mother.

*Disclaimer* In this episode we do talk about child loss which can be triggering.

“After becoming a mother myself, I found that there was a huge discrepancy in how I thought I was "supposed" to parent and how I actually felt drawn to parent.  I had a career as a midwife that I had worked hard for and that was my passion in life, but after having my first son, the immense amount of time spent away from him felt wrong in the core of my belly.”

During my return to work as a midwife, I experienced two complicated pregnancies.  One which ended in a ruptured ectopic pregnancy requiring emergency surgery and the other was my son, Jonah, who was stillborn at 26 weeks gestation.

Following my son's death, I was thrown into a world of immeasurable grief but it also shone the light on what was working in my life and what was not.  I came to understand that my passion in life for helping new mamas and mother-identified folx was still strong, but that I needed to be able to find a way of doing it that was sustainable for my own physical and mental health so I could show up for my family, clients, and myself in a way that felt authentic, grounded, and conscious.

I am an IBCLC, early parenting educator, and former Registered Midwife in Ontario with almost 15 years experience supporting parents and families in their pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenting journeys.

Choosing to take the pressure off and accept that maybe being a mother wasn’t my path, I let go and my son was born with Krysta Lee

Such an honour to have Krysta-Lee join me for a special conversation on why we mothers we must heal our inner child.

The moment Krysta-Lee took the pressure off to have children she conceived her rainbow baby 30 days later.

In this episode we dive into what means to be in constant connection with our inner child and the power and patience it can bring. Letting go of the conditions and the pressure while making space for conscious conception.

“My story can help redefine motherhood in numerous ways - from conscious conception, to conscious parenting - I've been navigating these waters with plenty of first hand experiences that I believe are worthy of sharing, with hopes of inspiring as many mamas as possible to know they can do it too!”

Krysta Lee is a singer, actor, coach, and author of "Mama’s Gotta Work!" and "Women Let’s Rise" (Golden Brick Road Publishing). She resides in Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada with her husband of thirteen years "DJ", and their two children "Jaxon" (3) and "Lillee" (1).
