8. Life After Loss | Heather Lipscomb

On today's episode. You're going to meet one of the most inspirational women that I've ever come across in my life.

She's someone that from the outside, looking in, you would never imagine the amount of grief and loss she's experienced.

From sexual abuse and teen pregnancy, to losing 2 babies, attempting suicide, having cancer not once...but twice and over the past 3 1/2 years she has grieved the deaths of 47 people in her life. If anyone has earned the badge to say, life's not fair. It's her.

She has lived through more than most of us could even image, yet still has positive attitude and a smile on her face. She has found so much strength in sharing her story. I know that is what part of her purpose on this planet is, is to tell her story. And in this episode, you'll hear different stories. Of different losses that she's experienced. And how all of those experiences led her to the conclusion. That her purpose in life is to help other people learn to live again after loss. She is the epitome of a warrior. She is the definition of survivor. She is a grief and transition specialist. She is a certified death doula. An incredible human being. And she is my best friend.

I cannot wait for you guys to get to hear some of her story in this conversation with Heather Lipscomb.

7. Manipulation through Music | Hillsong United

7. Manipulation through Music | Hillsong United

The majority of people probably have no idea the power that music has in our everyday lives.

From the songs on the radio in your car, to the jingles in TV commercials, to the music playing at the grocery store.

Music is so much more powerful than word/language. Music has the ability to conjure up images and feelings that need not necessarily be directly reflected in memory.

Music can impact illness, depression, spending, productivity and our perception of the world. Some research has suggested it can increase aggressive thoughts, or encourage crime.

Music has power over our emotions and mood. No other species has evolved in such a way to ascribe meaning and create emotional responses to music as humans.

Aside from influencing our feelings, music can also affect simple actions like how much money we spend or how productive we are...Music triggers the hormones oxytocin and serotonin, responsible for bonding, trust and intimacy, and in this episode of the Reflections Podcast, Wrenn shares just how manipulating music can be, when used for the purpose of profit, on a global level.
