In The Scope Podcast - Bosa Is Quite The Bother
In The Scope column writer Joshua M. Hicks and Weareregalradio.com Editorial Director Kyle Means is back with the ITS podcast to give you a taste of his next column before it runs on our site along with some other quick takes. This week, Josh and Kyle are joined by fellow WARR writer Chris Pennant as the discussion centers on recent NFL draft pick Nick Bosa, whose record of "alt-right" themed tweets sparked temporary controversy, but not enough according to Josh, who says the unencumbered welcoming of Bosa, a player tied to bigoted comments, furthers an already unfair double standard used against black athletes with minds toward social justice activism. The guys also take time to preview Josh's big first time appearance on CLTV's Sports Feed TV show this Sunday evening. Martellus Bennett Returns to Chicago w/ "Dear Black Boy"
Former Chicago Bear and NFL Pro Bowl tight end Martellus Bennett made time to talk to Weareregalradio.com Editorial Director Kyle Means Monday during his whirlwind media tour of the city to promote his new children's book "Dear Black Boy." In this audio recorded from 57th Street Books in Hyde Park, Bennett talks about returning to the Chi and the culture of creativity and blackness here, a type of vibe that he has reveled in while promoting his book, which he did here with local blogger and influencer Jenny "Mama Fresh" LeFlore. In spite of the directness of the title, the book and its author have a lot to say to all kids about resisting boundaries and restrictions society places on us. But definitely this book, written in the wake of the violent summer of 2016 where Philando Castile and Alton Sterling were each murdered by police, is designed to help black boys value their creativity and make them feel more welcome to actively change the often hostile world that surrounds them.    Subscribe to WARR on Anchor and follow WARR for all the latest on our movement and stay tuned for upcoming episodes and specials from your guys.   Weareregalradio.com provides the best independent coverage of sports and culture -- feel free to share our content and rate us well here or wherever else you find our podcasts. Thanks for listening.   twitter.com/regalradio1   facebook.com/regalradio1/  instagram.com/weareregalradio

Creative Corner W/Kyle Means: Vic Spencer, The Rappin' Bastard
How would one describe an MC like Chicago's Vic Spencer? Well, one good way can be seen on the Facebook page promoting Vic's upcoming show at The Promentory: Question: What is the result when you mix the wit of Sean Price, the comedic delivery of DOOM, the unorthodox approach of the late ODB, the lungs of B-Real, and the life experience of a group home resident hailing from the streets of Chicago’s gritty East Side? Answer: Vic Spencer   If that's too much for you or if those comparisons don't do much, you can simply call him the rappin' bastard, he likes that too cause like Ol' Dirty Bastard, there's no father to his style. Also, there's no one who can claim him as their son, especially when it comes to sonning rappers on tracks, be they his own or others. Ahead of his March 21st showcase at the Hyde Park nightspot, Vic speaks to Weareregalradio.com editorial director Kyle Means in the return of Means' Creative Corner series. Along with speaking on what he plans to do there, Vic talks about his busy 2018 -- which saw him release four albums under his name -- his best current collaborators, a famous former collaborator and how he's giving back as a mentor to Chicago youth -- all while getting a little something to eat in the process...
