Reporting as Eligible - From Axel to Zappe
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR recap the closer-than-it-should-have-been overtime victory over the Patriots and Bailey Zappe. Despite not blowing out a clearly inferior team, Paul is strangely optimistic about the offense, and tells you why you should be too. They also discuss the continued issues stopping the run, Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb as efficiency stary, Rashan Gary making bank, and whether Joe Barry will ever make a midgame adjustment. The guys then move on to the Giants and merry olde England, where it’s likely they’ll face another third string quarterback, and have to stop an impressive running back. They let you know what the Giants do well, where they struggle, and why this one shouldn’t be a problem for the Pack. Plus listener questions!

Reporting as Eligible - The Tablet's Revenge
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, JR, and Tyler recap the Packers14-12 victory over Tom Brady and the Bucs, the hot start, the brilliant play from Romeo Doubs, the great coverage from Eric Stokes, and the quiet competence of the special team. Randall Cobb looked ten years younger, Allen Lazard is on the mend, David Bakhtiari actually played, and maybe, just maybe, the Florida Curse is over. Or not. It wasn’t all fun and games though, as Aaron Rodgers continued to struggle, throwing an uncharacteristic interception, and never solving Tampa’s two-deep shell. Aaron Jones also lost a big fumble on a huge hit by Vita Vea, and Joe Barry’s prevent defense almost gave the game away. Fortunately, a brilliant play by De’Vondre Campbell, and maybe some help from the Tampa jumbotron, made sure everything worked out OK. All of that, plus a preview of Axel Hoyer and the Patriots, plus listener questions!

Reporting as Eligible - Viva la Vita
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR discuss what if anything we can learn from a victory over a terrible Bears team that’s apparently terrified of its own quarterback. They also discuss all of the analytics that back up just how terrified they should be, the many ways in which he was bad, and whether he can get better. The boys then turn their attention to the fact that the Bears gashed the Packers on the ground, and dish out some blame. Will the Bucs overcome their injuries to run on the Packers at will? Will Tom Brady have anyone to throw to, or is it just going to be Scotty Miller and Cole Beasley? Can Aaron Rodgers find a way to attack an extremely talented Buc secondary, or will this look like the Vikings’ game all over again? And will Arron Jones and AJ Dillon be enough? All of that, plus listener questions, as the Packers run into their biggest challenge yet in this young season.

Reporting as Eligible - it’s Always Been a Matter of Trust
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, JR, and special guest Tyler Brooke review everything that went wrong against the Minnesota Vikings in excruciating detail, from Christian Watson’s drop, to Jake Hanson’s expletive line play. They also go over the relative value of man v. zone coverage, why the Packers decided not to Shadow Justin Jefferson, whether they might next time, and provided a fair assessment of the defense as a whole, which, believe it or not, wasn’t entirely bad! All of that, plus Aaron Rodgers against the shell, Sammy Watkins actually being open a lot, Aaron’s cratering numbers under pressure, the rookies as a whole, the return of Big Bob, and the backs in the passing game, and of course, the Bears, and listener question. It’s a jam-packed episode as the season kicks off.

Reporting as Eligible - What Condition My Condition Is In
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR discuss the crazy weekend of college football and how great it was, the Bears and their silly stadium proposal, how they are cursed, just as Oedipus was cursed to kill his father and sleep with his mother, and of course, the upcoming game against the Vikings. Why is it especially bad to face the Vikings in the first game? Is Cameron Dantzler really that slow? Is Patrick Peterson still good? Are the Vikings still beset by nepotism? Who is going to cover Justin Jefferson? And what if Allen Lazard can’t go? The guys discuss the Packer offensive line, and what will happen if Jenkins and Bakhtiari can’t go, whether Jalen Reagor can be useful cog in the Viking offense, a hunch about Christian Watson, and why Chandon my be a bigger key to the game than you think. Plus, listener questions from Patreon, Twitter, and the APC discord, and JR getting mad about the Brewer game in real time. Reporting as Eligible - You Win Samori, You Lose Winfree
On the cutdown episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and special guest Tyler Brooke discuss who made the team, including the surprise cuts, the surprise non-cuts, and the positions where they likely need to go out and grab someone else’s cuts. Paul revels in victory after his consistent Samori Toure’ projections come to pass, Tyler laments the dismissal of a tight end from his high school program, and everyone speculates about who won’t clear waivers, and make the practice squad. The crew also reveals their RAS scores, discusses the final preseason game, opines on Jordan Love’s continued inconsistency, and Tyler pretends to be JR. And of course, listener questions from Patreon, Twitter, and the APC discord.

Reporting as Eligible - Mark Murphy's Law
Everything is coming off PUP lists for Green Bay, and a well-executed offseason means the Packers have a plan for every perceived weakness. So, what could go wrong? On the true season premiere of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR walk through the perceived Packer weak points, and why none of them are really that scary as we prepare to kick off the 2022 season. The receivers are inexperienced, but the front office went all in with draft capital  and free agency, and even Amari Rodgers looks better. At edge depth, the team may a have surprise star in rookie JJ Engabare. And on the offensive line, the surprise return of David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins has turned a problem area into one of the deepest positions on the team thanks to the undersized for crazy athletic Zach Tom. While the preseason features almost entirely backups, those backups have largely impressed, from Quay Walker and Chris Slayton, to Rico Gafford and Shemar Jean-Charles, and depth may not be the issue it once was. Even Jordan Love finally put a good game on tape. The guys discuss all of these reasons for optimism, as well as what may still go wrong as Reporting as Eligible kicks off its fourth season! How uncertainty helped the Packers Land Romeo Doubs. Intro: Bring on the Dancing Horses - Echo and the Bunnymen Outro: I Stay Away - Alice in Chains

Reporting as Eligible: The North by the Numbers
As we kick off a brand new season of Reporting as Eligible, Paul discusses the rest of the NFC North with some data-savvy guest stars! First Arif Hassan of The Athletic goes over what we can expect from the new regime in Minnesota, and whether the Vikings are ready to overtake the Packers behind Kevin O’Connell, and to a much lesser extent, Ed Donatell. Then it’s on to the Lions with Kent Lee Platte, the creator of Relative Athletic Score and former Pride of Detroit contributor. The Lions’ rebuild has gone better than expected to this point, and they may already be able to make a little noise, but how much? Do the Lions have the best offensive line in the division? Is Jared Goff just a little too good for a rebuild? Can you get a decent quarterback outside of the top ten picks? All of these questions, and more will be answered. Finally, Lorin Cox of Locked on Bears give a prescient answer on the Roquan Smith question, praises the Bears’ downright rational offseason, all while maintaining a realistic vision of where the Bears are on the rebuilding tree. They discuss the already significant impact of former Packer QB coach Luke Getsy, whether Justin Fields will be there in 2023, and whether the defense can succeed with a talented secondary, but limited pass rush. It’s a very special episode, as Reporting as Eligible kicks off Season 4. Reporting as Eligible - Double Watson, Single Doubs
On this post-draft episode of Reporting as Eligible, Matt, Paul and Jr discuss the draft, every new player, what they’re good at, what they’re not, whether trading up is ever worth it, what needs to happen for it to be worth it here, whether Quay is the way, when character concerns become slander (and when they don’t), what “raw” really means with Christian Watson, and every late draft steal from Zach Tom to Rasheed Walker. The guys also cover just why Romeo Doubs might solve their receiver issues, scouts versus metrics on Kingsley Enagbare, and potential special teams roles for the new blood. Plus plenty of listener questions, and Paul celebrating Samori Toure getting assigned number 83.

Reporting as Eligible - Yesterday's Price is not Today's Price
On a Reporting as Eligible pre-draft special, Paul, JR, and special guest Tyler Brooke take a look at all of the prospects that might be on the radar of the Green and Gold, especially the receivers. Will Chris Olave make it to the end of the first round? Will it be George Pickens? What of Treylon Burks, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, and Drake London, and why does Paul hate Skyy Moore. Tyler also goes over the non-receivers that make sense, and whether an edge rusher or two could be in their future, especially if the Packers can pull off a deal for a veteran before the draft starts. The guys then go over a few DBs, and relay folly of going after a safety early, before moving on to punt god, running backs, Jahan Dotson, George Karlaftis, Josh Paschal, and whether a trade-up may be in the cards. Plus, listener questions!

Reporting as Eligible: Davantaking My Talents to Vegas
On this special episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul and JR discuss the surprise Davante Adams trade, and where the Packers go from here. They also talked about Za’Darius Smith joining a long line of former Packers angling for revenge as a Viking, the returns of Rasul, Campbell, and Preston, and the addition of Jarran Reed, including his previous suspension for assault. Finally, they cover the other extreme wackiness of the NFL, the quarterback carousel, Tyreek Hill, bionic punters, Julio Jones, Will Fuller, DeVante Parker, and listener questions!

Reporting as Eligible: The Last Dance 2; Electric Bugaloo
On this special episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR discuss the Aaron Rodgers contract, the financials, the impact, and what it says about the future. They also spend quite some time comparing it to the Russell Wilson deal, and whether they would prefer the draft pick haul. It’s then on to Jordan Love’s future, and what you could potentially get for him, Davante’s unhappiness with the franchise tag, the franchise tag as evidence of the weakness of the NFLPA, and if this whole thing will be worth it, or if we’ll wind up regretting it. Plus an absolute slew of listener questions, and Aaron Rodgers Instagram as an outro. They did not mention Carson Wentz, as is warranted. Reporting as Eligible - Ope, There Goes Gravity
On this Super edition of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matub, and JR discuss the major Bowl game that occurred, the mid-level boss nature of the two teams involved, hyperbole around Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald’s greatness, Cooper Kupp, late-game officiating, Sean McVay’s crazy bad running, Joe Mixon as the best quarterback on the AFC, Joe Burrow as the best quarterback in the AFC, and how it’s sad that Green Bay would have smoked either of these teams. They also talk about Stafford’s hall of Fame case now that he has a ring, and Paul corrects some Warren Moon slander They then move on to the commercials, whether the Sopranos ad was canon, a smelly high school shirt, Guy Fieri, the conceptual issues with Zeus, and their favorites and least favorites. They also rank the halftime show, discuss the rumors about Aaron, and whether he’s any more likely to return. And finally, listener questions, including the legacy of video game maker LJN. Reporting as Eligible - Bojo’s Tiny Pants
On this melancholy yet angry episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matt, and JR break down everything that cost the Packers what should have been a picturesque, snowy victory against San Francisco. The curious decision to not start Nijman, Bakhtiari’s absence, Marcedes’ fumble, Aiyuk’s non-fumble, Mason’s awful kickoffs, Tyler’s poor field goal blocking, AJ’s special teams’ injury, Matt’s playcalling, Aaron’s misses, and the blocked punt all make an appearances. They also give props to the defense for a well played game, before talking about Eric Stokes dropped pick-six, George Kittle’s drops, Aaron Jones’ attempt to fake out Jaquiski Tartt, Dennis Kelly’s all around badness, not going for it on 4th and 2, and whether Lazard or EQ was more open. Plus, the worst special teams of all time, Randall Cobb coming back too soon, Aaron, Davante, the future, acid jazz, and of course, listener questions! Reporting as Eligible - Do You’se Bet, or You’se Check
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, Matt, and JR preview the 49ers as only they can. They take a look at their first matchup, compare and contrast key player additions and subtractions, adjust for Jerome Boger’s incompetence, account for coaches, strategic tendencies, and come up with rock-solid reasoning as to how the Packers should proceed. They also make fun of Mike McCarthy, and how he kept his punt team on for a first down play, and why it happened, though the real reason is just as bad as the speculation. They also address differences between the 2019 49ers and this team, how to contain Deebo and Kittle, the ascendant Aiyuk, and San Fran’s weakness in the secondary. Finally, the guys take a quiz on Packer playoff history during the Rodgers era, and answer listener questions about everything that could possibly go wrong, like it did when the 49ers beat the Packer with only 6 completions from Jimmy. But really, what are the odds that happens again? Intro: Sweetness - Jimmy Eat World Intermission: Do you wanna taste it? - Peacemaker Theme Outro: Winner Takes it All - Sammy Haggar

Paul also stopped by our good friends at Cheesehead TV, where he had the chance to ask AJ Dillon a few hard hitting questions. AJ, by the way, is now 2nd among RBs in yards per target, and first in RB success rate. Finally, they talk about how to handle the second bye week that is the Lions’ game, Amon-Ra St. Brown, the imploding Bucs, and of course, lots and lots of David Moore. Thanks again to AJ Dillon, Aaron Nagler, Corey Behnke, and Cheesehead TV. They also go over the legacy of John Madden (something near and dear to Matub’s heart), and how he was not just some goofy announcer with a video game franchise, Finally, the boys preview the mess that is the Vikings, Adam Thielen’s injury, Davlin Cook’s return, Kirk Cousins’ dopiness, and why they’re still scary even though they’re stupid quitters. They also cover the Browns, who were hit hard by Covid, but are also having a disappointing season, partially because they overperformed last season, and partially because Baker Mayfield is unfortunately, “just a guy.” Their stars and scrubs defense will also be without some key people, and the guys discuss just how good an offense can be when it’s anchored by running backs and Donovan Peoples-Jones. Plus listener questions on analytics, journalism, and what Paul would be willing to give up to get Tyler Huntley. Intro: Cleveland Tourism Video Outro: Burn On, Big River - Randy Newman

Reporting as Eligible - Raven ‘Bout Special Teams
In this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul, JR, and a returning Matub recap the Bears as much as humanly possible before discussing special teams. There is the brilliance of Rodgers and Adams, of LaFleur, of Allen Lazard as a big slot, Aaron Jones in the passing game, Marcedes, Josiah, and the unsung offensive line! They praise the defense, the transcendent Rasul Douglas, the sublime Rashan Gary, the highly motivated Preston Smith, and ruminate on whether they would have Douglas if Alexander had been healthy all year. Kenny Clark is a wrecker, and maybe Campbell is still recovering, but he’ll be fine. The defense: Pretty good! And then they talk about special teams for like, a long time. And the history of bad special teams, and all-time good kick and punt returners. And Tyler Ervin, and Jeff Janis, and stuff like that. I mean, they rank last in Special Teams DVOA, and last in several subcategories of Special Teams DVOA, and they really need to fix this! Finally, they take many good listener questions, and Paul rants about Tyler Huntley, his very high college QBOPS and CPOE, why he is good, and why getting an injured Lamar Jackson is probably better for Green Bay. Intro: Baltimore - Tori Amos Outro: Theme Song - The Wire

They also talk about how not weird the missed field goals are, how Justin Jefferson is awesome, Paul’s brush with stardom, Thanksgiving side dishes and EQ’s future playing time. The guys then proceed to the Rams, and how they have a better quarterback, and a healthy Aaron Donald against not-Elgton Jenkins, and a healthy Cooper Kupp, and sort of cower in fear. But they also provide at least a smidgen of hope based on recent performances by Matthew Stafford and some poor run defense. Plus listener questions! JR then leads a discussion of the Packers pantsing of the Seahawks, especially on defense where the team recorded its 13th shutout since the merger. Is Joe Barry good? Is Kevin King good? What has gotten into Preston Smith? Can just any old person be good at football now if they join the Packer defense? They also discuss Aaron’s issues with the deep ball, his murderball to Allen Lazard, Dillon’s dominance running and passing, Amari Rodgers uning left, and Josiah Deguara just not being the dude. Reporting as Eligible - Owning the Bears Means Living Rent Free
On this week’s episode, JR and Paul discuss the Bucks cool transformer ring, the Packers slow slow beatdown of the Bears, why they’re so slow, whether they’re actually good at offense or defense, what would happen if they lost Davante, and the difficulties in adjusting for strength of schedule. Also, like all of the Football Team’s players are hurt, and the defense has regressed from basically the best in the league to the worst, and Ryan Fitzpatrick is hurt, as well as most of their offensive line and skill position players. And their owners are evil. All of that said, Chase Young and Montez Sweat are good, and the Washington defensive front is excellent. Is this the key to the game? Maybe! Plus a new Patreon giveaway! Hold On, Hold On Paul, Matt, and JR discuss the Packers’ first win of 2021, and whether beating Detroit really counts. Was the offense really good or are we being bamboozled by a good quarter and a half? Aaron Jones saving the day, MVS’s early struggles, Josh Myers quiet good play, the hopeful ascension of Eric Stokes, the dominoes that fall if Stokes is actually good, De’Vondre Campbell’s veteran presents, Allen Lazard as the new Marcedes Lewis, and whether Aaron should have hit Lazard instead of threading it in to Tonyan. Reporting as Eligible - The Manbun of Quarterbacks
Reporting as Eligible – The Manbun of Quarterbacks In this week’s episode, Paul, JR, and Matt discuss bad hair, no hair, how you can’t actually evaluate much when people just play poorly, Aaron getting punched in the jiminy crickets, two-safety looks, game theory and running against two-safety looks, Joe Barry being terrible, but the Packer defensive front also being terrible and not technically his fault. Kevin King as Yuniesky Bentancourt, and also as a river-crossing scorpion, Rashan Gary being OK, and just how historically bad this loss was. Plus listener questions! Reporting as Eligible - The Packers kept their punter LOL JK
Matt, Paul, and JR discuss the trade for Corey Bojorquez at length, how they called it last week, and how cool they all are for doing so. They then move on to the surprises of cutdown day, particularly on the offensive line, and in the secondary, where things look a lot like they did last season. Why is Jake Hanson still on the team? Will Hunter Bradley be on the team by the time you listen to this? Why did PFF grade the preseason line so well if Jordan Love was under pressure all the time and centers kept stepping on foots? Should they have kept maybe one special teams ace? Plus listener questions, and Paul forgetting that the season starts next weekend, not this weekend! Reporting as Eligible - Benkert and the Jets
Matt, Paul, and JR are all back for the 3rd preseason game, unlike everyone else in the NFL. They go over the big change at inside linebacker with Kamal Martin gone, and Oren Burks maybe improving, the Ka’dar Hollman trade, the upcoming Trubisky-to-Kumerow show, punters who could replace JK Scott, awful special teams, Kylin Hill, Malik Taylor, and the idea that one day Kurt Benkert may meet golfer Ben Curtis and have a confusing introduction. Also, Matub’s never seen The Royal Tenenbaums, and Paul compares Jay Cutler to Richie Tenenbaum and Aaron Rodgers to Eli Cash. Finally, Bob Tonyan’s incredible hands, and listener questions! Reporting As Eligible: DVOA Whips it Good
Nerds think running and inside linebackers don’t matter, but the Packer playoff experience begs to differ. It’s just Paul on vacation, traveling the Midwest as he provides a preseason primer of advanced stats, what they mean, why EPA really is more of a team stat, DVOA, CPOE, why certain attempts by Pro Football Focus to quantify positional value sometimes contradict other attempts by Pro Football Focus to quantify positional value, the mess that was the Adam Gase Jets, and the return to normalcy with Robert Saleh. We’ll be back with a regular show next week, discussing Royce Newman, who is good, recapping the first two preseason games, and taking listener questions. If you’re curious about the cap ramifications, the true market value, Jordan Love, and Rodgers’ longevity, this podcast is for you. The boys also discuss the draft, the Packers’ non-reliance on RAS, how their picks really seemed to be more for need than “best player available,” how taking Amari Rodgers right between Dyami Brown and Nico Collins physically hurt Paul, and who is likely to make an immediate impact. In this very special episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul discusses how he goes about assessing quarterback prospects, why QBOPS is more useful than it has an right to be, the two types of prospects, why some guys don’t get the respect they deserve, and why Feleipe Franks and Tyler Huntley were better prospects than most people realize. Reporting as Eligible - Sports Info Solutions to Sports Ignorance Problems
On this episode of Reporting as Eligible, Paul interviews Nathan Cooper and John Todd of Sports Info Solutions about the Packers big needs in the draft, likely targets, whether Jordan Love was a good idea, if the quarterbacks in the 2021 draft would have been better options, and a bunch of receivers who sounds like they would fill the Tyler Ervin role beautifully. They also preview the 2021 SIS Rookie Handbook, now available ActaSports.com, or wherever you buy your yearly sports annuals. Paul then talks all things Packers with Acme Packing Company managing editor Tex Western, including our reactions to Joe Barry and Maurice Drayton’s initial press conferences, the Packers’ rather dire cap situation, the fact that they have no receivers signed after this year, and the best way to go about adding cornerbacks to this team. They also say a fond farewell to Aaron Jones, who is going to get paid by someone else. Reporting as Eligible: Barry the Lede
This week, the guys discuss how good Leroy Butler was as a modern, well-rounded safety, and how unimpressive John Lynch was as a concussion machine who garnered the favor of HOF voters through a front office position. Paul also tells the tale of new defensive coordinator Joe Barry’s long and spotty trek to land the job, which mostly involves being friends and relatives with better coaches. In more positive news, Maurice Drayton has the makings of a good special teams coordinator, the team may be able to actually spend in a depressed but high-quality free agent market, Carson Wentz might be a Bear, which is incredibly hilarious, and Charles Woodson is simply awesome. Paul discusses the difference between Leonhard and Pettine in Collision Low Crossers, Matt touches on why Kris Richard was not one of our favorites, and boy, does Maurice Drayton have his work cut out for him. The guys also answer tons of questions, posit hypotheticals about alternate worlds where the Packers did make the Super Bowl, a potential Aaron Rodgers extension, what if any free agents will be retained, and Big Little Lies. Reporting as Eligible: Devin White Lies
We’re a win away from the Super Bowl! This week following the Green Bay Packers’ utter destruction of Los Angeles, Paul, Matub, and JR review all of the good stuff, praise the spirit, if not the actual decision of JK Scott, check into whether PFF knows what Devin White even does, explores whether pre-snap motion and the pony-pro-set can cure what ailed the Pack against the Bucs, and talk about the big changes from last time, from Allen Lazard to Vita Vae. The guys also compare Drew Brees and Tom Brady, and the finer points of why one is washed and one isn’t, if the defense will learn and play press-man against Touchdown Tom, or fall back on too much Pettine zone, if turnovers are all that matters, if Rashan Gary has a claim to be the best player on the defense, and if Blake Martinez is secretly awesome. He’s not, by the way. Plus listener questions and tons more analysis based on EPA, Football Outsiders, and PFF! Intro: Packers Sea Chanty (Go Pack Go) - Joseph Salvo Outro: Faith - George Michael

With the game kicking off shortly, here's a special free minipod. If you're getting set up to watch, making your old-fashioneds, etc, and could use one more preview, pop this on your earbuds and find out just how good the Rams are.  Paul previews the best defense the Packers have faced all season. The Rams are #1 in weighted DVOA, they're talented, smart, and peaking at the right time. Can Rodgers and LaFleur solve this riddle, and can Mike Pettine's crew shut down an offense that's likely to be as bad as their defense is good? This is a tricky one, and likely, a white-knuckler. Does Jalen Ramsey lock down number one receivers? Surprisingly, no! Find out why all of this is so, plus, the guys figure out who is scarier between a one-handed Goff, a neck-less Wolford, and a talentless Bortles, if the Rams’ defense would be just as good with Packer personnel, why the Tampa game should scare you, why the 49ers sweeping the Rams should make you happy, and if Mike Pettine can not be outwitted by Sean McVay, at least a little. After a convincing win against Tennessee in the snow, JR, Matub, and Paul discuss all of the beautiful things that the Packers did well, whether the defense is for real, the Za’Darius Smith meeting with Pettine, Davante’s greatness catching, Lazard and Valdes-Scantling’s greatness blocking, the real debut of AJ Dillon, and if one great game makes it worth spending a second rounder on a running back. Paul also made a spreadsheet of heavy running backs to see if they’re more valuable in cold December games. Then he made another spreadsheet of small backs to compare it to. Finally, they tackle the immortal question: If the Packer defense is good based on the last 4 games, is Mitch Trubisky also good? Plus, so very many listener questions! Matub, JR, and Paul break down the “All Gas, Some Brake” offense, as the Packers puttered their way towards a nice win over a pretty pesky Panther team. The boys highlight the stars on defense, the problems with Kevin King, and which Packer defenders are most likely to be caught from behind, and why they are bad. They also point out the weight difference between Derrick Henry and Krys Barnes, what would happen if Kevin King tried to tackle him, if Rodgers held a grudge against Lazard, how much weather matters, and a more in-depth preview of Tennessee’s strategic tendencies. Reporting as Eligible: Mennengitis
This week, following the Green Bay Packers’ relatively narrow win over Matthew Stafford and the Lions, Paul, Matub, and JR discuss why all of the stats seems pretty good despite the game not feeling very good. Special teams plays a major role, but they also weave in pace of play, and how Mike Pettine’s “death by 1000 paper cuts” defense dos not play well with Matt LeFleur’s occasional preference for extended drives. In short, BALL CONTROL IS BAD. Also, is MVS actually good now? Is this the most efficient Packer offense ever? And was the Monday night game between the Browns and Ravens the greatest NFL game of all time, or was it number 2? All of that, plus a slew of excellent listener questions round things out, as we go into a Saturday night contest against Teddy Bridgewater and Carolina. They also talk about Darnell Savage and why man defense may be more of his thing, Tavon Austin stepping in for real this time, whether Tonyan should have more targets, MVS’ sweet blocking, Adams vs. Nelson, and of course, listener questions! JR, Matt, and Paul cover everything that went right against the Lions, from surprisingly good performances from Rick Wagner and Rashan Gary, to Allen Lazard's greatness (by DVOA), to Aaron Jones making his case to get paid. They also go over how Tyler Ervin should have created a touchdown, the struggling tight ends, why it's good that we haven't heard Kevin King's name more, and why Chandon Sullivan's interception was as much of a terrible call by the Lions as it was greatness by Chandon. Are the Vikings any good or will we look back at this as an gimme?  Find out all of that, plus an analysis of all of the smart things Matt LaFleur did, why the defense wasn't as bad as you might think, and why even crusty old beat writers should take the time to learn their DVOAs from their EPAs, even if they don't like it. Also, listener questions as per usual.  Everyone is happy, even Paul  Intro: The Laws Have Changed - New Pornographers Outtro: Race for the Prize - Flaming Lips
