NRMP MATCH TALKS: The SOAP Approach with Dr. Manny Morakinyo
In this episode, fellow SGU alum and current Internal Medicine Resident, Dr. Manny Morakinyo takes you through some of the most commonly asked questions about the SOAP process (Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program) and his personal experience with the SOAP. As a disclaimer, Dr. Morakinyo did in fact know he was not going to match prior to Match day as he had a change of heart to pursue Internal Medicine very close to application time. Due to this he did have time to look more into the SOAP. This podcast's purpose is help summarize these events now so that you can prepare for that "just in case" scenario that sometimes happens! This is the first episode of a new series where we discuss current healthcare policy in the United States with a good friend to both Dr. Schupper and I, Mr. Garrick Prokos. Garrick earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University and his Masters in Public Policy from The University of Chicago. He is currently a Healthcare Policy Consultant working in the State Government sector, with expertise in Medicaid policy specifically. In this episode Garrick talks with Dr. Reilly about the ins and outs of the United States Healthcare System at a 30,000 foot view! This episode is for pre-med students all the way through to attending physicians and everyone in between. It is essential for us to learn more about how our healthcare system works!
