The FLOT Line Show
By Rick Hughes Ministries
FLOT is an acronym for Forward Line of Troops. The show teaches principles from the Bible and focuses on God’s 10 unique problem-solving devices. If you choose to learn and apply them, they will act as a main line of resistance in your soul, a FLOT line, preventing the outside sources of adversity from becoming the inside pressure of stress in your soul. The intent is to give you information to help you identify the plan of God for your life.

The Influencers, Part 1 (2020)
You and your spiritual life can deliver our nation. One man with divine wisdom delivered this city, “There was found in that city a poor wise man and he, by his wisdom, delivered the entire city” (Eccl 9:14-15). Divine wisdom gives you insight and discernment. This verse applies to you today in our world of chaos and confusion. “The words of the wise heard in calm are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools.” (Eccl 9:17). Your assignment, wherever you are, is to be a modern-day Noah. You are to warn of God’s coming judgment. You do this by lifting up the Lord Jesus Christ. This is your assignment from God, to re-present Jesus Christ in your field of influence. You are to be a spiritual influencer. Jesus Christ and his finished work on the cross is a magnet for those who are lost. “I will draw all men unto Me” (John 12:32).

Who Does God Love (2020)
God demonstrated His impersonal love for us by sending His Son to pay for our sins. When we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and receive Him as our Savior we become a member of The Royal Family of God. At that point, we have the personal love of God as family members. Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love those who love me and those who diligently seek me will find me.”

Deliverance in Difficult Times (2020)
The only solution to deliverance is your spiritual life. God can and will deliver you and the nation if you have an invisible impact that has blessing by association. The overruling will of God combined with the directive will of God provides numerous deliverances from adverse circumstances in your life.
The Psalm of Deliverance:
“The king is not saved by a mighty army and a warrior is not delivered by great strength. A horse is a false hope for victory [the mechanized infantry in those days] nor does it deliver anyone by its great strength [talking about the horse]. Behold [the answer] the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His loving kindness to deliver their souls from death and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help; He is our shield. For our heart rejoices in Him because we trust in His holy name. Let Your lovingkindness, O Lord, be upon us according as we have hoped in You.” (Psalm 33:16-22)

Conquering Fear (2025)
In this episode of The FLOT Line Show, host Rick Hughes tackles the powerful emotion of fear and how it can paralyze the Christian life. Drawing from the biblical account of Israel’s refusal to enter the Promised Land, Rick illustrates how fear leads to panic, emotional instability, and disobedience. He explains how to use God's 10 problem-solving devices—including the faith-rest drill—to stop adversity from becoming internal stress. Learn how courage, trust, and obedience to God’s Word are the antidotes to fear—and how your courage can be contagious to others.

Freedom (2020)
You could have freedom in Christ Jesus, the Bible is clear about that. In John 8:31-32, Jesus was saying “to the Jews who had believed in Him, ‘If you continue in My Word then you are truly disciples of Mine then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.’” You have an opportunity to be truly free today and for the rest of your life. We’re going to talk about that here for a moment. The Bible mentions freedom in many places. For example, in Galatians 5:1, “for freedom Christ has set us free …” What did He set you free from? He set you free from the law of sin and death. You don't have to go to hell. You don't have to go to the Lake of Fire. He took your place. He died for you. He was your substitute. In Galatians 5:13, “For you were called to freedom …” by God, not only to have spiritual freedom but to have physical freedom as an American in the US of A. God designed you to have freedom in this client nation of His.

The Fire of God (2020)
So today the greatest problem that we have, the greatest problem that man has is the problem of sin and death. That's the greatest problem. And we have to solve that. So the good news is that Jesus Christ, the anointed Son of God, has redeemed us out of the slave market of sin and our debt to God was paid by Him so we are free - free from the penalty of death and free from the power of sin. And if you receive the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior, you, in effect, accept the offering He made on your behalf. It is a free gift from the compliments of God. If you do not receive the free gift, if you continue to just drift around in life without any purpose, without any meaning, without any destiny then you're playing with fire. And if you play with God, you might get burnt.

The Fool (2020)
Fools don't have any wisdom. Wisdom comes from Bible doctrine in your soul. When you have Bible doctrine in your soul you have wisdom or the Greek word sophia. Wisdom only comes from the knowledge that's first been learned. If you don't learn anything it's impossible to have any wisdom because what you've learned must be converted from knowledge into wisdom and then from wisdom into insight and discernment. A fool doesn't have that. “A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing their own opinion.” (Proverbs 18:2)

Understanding Death (2020)
“I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved” (John 10:9). What a wonderful provision and promise. Because of this verse, we know that our departed loved ones who have believed in Christ are face-to-face with their Savior. Remember, “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). When you die as a Christian, your body goes to the grave, your soul and your spirit go to be with the Father and await the resurrection body. Even though we cannot see heaven or begin to understand the scope of God's abode, our departed loved ones are basking right now in His glorious provisions and enjoying their new environment to the fullest.
A lot of people think you go to hell because you commit sins. That's not true. All sins—past, present, and future—were paid for on the cross. What people go to hell for is refusing to believe that Jesus Christ is the anointed Son of God.

David and Saul, Part 2 (2020)
In David's case, as a young man, he's having some stress and he's having a lot of adversity because the king is trying to kill him. How he handles it, we can compare to your life and how you're handling some of the things that you're going through today. David waited on God's justice and did not execute his own justice.
No man is too important to be replaced by God. Romans 13:1 tells us, “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except that which God has established, and the authorities that exist are established by God.”
Our freedom and the blessing of God on our nation depend on you. As goes your spiritual life so will go the history of the United States of America.

How to Honor God (2020)
Our job is to glorify God the Father by replicating the life of Christ and re-presenting Him. In Romans 4:20, “Yet with respect to the promise of God, he [Abraham] did not waver in unbelief, but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God.” Giving glory to God is what we have to do. In 1 Peter 4:10-11, “As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to who belongs all the glory and dominion forever and ever.”

Rally (2020)
It’s time to recover our strength spiritually, individually, and as a nation. We must RALLY—R = reflection. A = affection. Get back to a divine appreciation of Who and what God is. L = leave the world behind and return to your first love, your love for God the Father. L = learn and apply the Word in your circumstances and you will glorify God. Y = yield yourself to God’s plan. Have a personal sense of destiny. “In God, I put my trust, I shall not be afraid. By learning Scripture, we can take advantage of these freedoms provided by God’s grace. “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Divine Discipline, Part 2 (2020)
God does discipline us. The Bible says those whom He loves, He disciplines. Revelation 3:19, “Those whom I love, I reprove [or correct] and discipline; therefore, be zealous and repent.” There are two ways that God can teach us. He can teach us from instruction without pain or He can teach us from instruction with pain. “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us.” (1 John 1:9).

Royal Family of God (2025)

You have an honor code that includes impersonal love for all and reflecting the thinking of Jesus Christ. “You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of His [the Lord Jesus Christ] who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet 2:9). Royal family members who progress to spiritual maturity have an invisible impact on their nation and families.

God Loves You, Part 6 (2020)
Problem-solving device number one is the rebound technique or how to confess your sin and get back in fellowship once you've broken fellowship with God. Once you quench the Holy Spirit and grieve the Holy Spirit by an act of disobedience if you go to the Father in 1 John 1:9 as the Bible says, “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us and even to purify us from all of our wrongdoing.”
We have a battle. The battle is “the flesh wars against the Spirit, the Spirit wars against the flesh; they are contrary one to the other so that you cannot do the things you'd like to do” (Galatians 5:17). So when you allow the Holy Spirit to control your sin nature, that’s what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18, “be filled with the Spirit.” You are not letting your sin nature control your life if you're filled with the Holy Spirit.
