Rituism

By Ritu Goyal

I am the woman-next-door. A 40 something mother of two, an entrepreneur, a travel blogger and story teller. But I am also, much, much more. Whitney Houston’s song, “I’m every woman, it’s all in me” comes to mind as I type this. Yes. I’m every woman. Every woman is me. It’s all in me.

Menopause/Hysterectomy alters lives

Menopause/Hysterectomy alters lives

What happens when a woman’s reproductive system starts to shut down or worse, when all her organs are removed. It’s high time we started talking about this openly and empowering our girls whilst preparing them for what lay ahead.

Why and How I Carried my Garbage back from my Trip!

Why and How I Carried my Garbage back from my Trip!

I’ve always been a little extra sensitive to the environment. My contributions have been personal, small, yet significant and free of hyperbole, and more than just lip service. But ever since I discovered my love for travel, I also understood that leaving a carbon footprint behind as a traveller was inevitable. I was only and am still, determined to reduce that footprint. As a travel company owner, I am an advocate for eco travelling and this time, on a 2 week long trip, I brought back my garbage. This episode talks about how I did it. #SiangRush2020

Look at Us!

Look at Us!

A deeply personal look at how low self image impacted my life and my daughter’s. The purpose is to implore young women from falling into the trap of equating success and happiness with looks and someone else’s opinion of you.

Menstrual Leave: My Reservations

Menstrual Leave: My Reservations

Recently, an Indian company announced that it will give 10 days Menstrual Leave in a year to its female staff. While some were overjoyed by the news, I had my reservations that I have shared in this episode. I don’t think “Menstrual Leave” will bring the change needed in awareness and sensitisation of women’s health amongst men. The solution is longer, more painful but probably one that will have the most impact.

Empathy is great; it’s trouble when it becomes a burden

Empathy is great; it’s trouble when it becomes a burden

I was a volunteer with a self help group for patients of Ataxia for over 5 years when I quit due to burnout and disillusionment. After much reflection, I’ve understood why I burned out, how I could have avoided it and what my learnings are. I share my learnings here... If it strikes a chord with you, please do share!

Let’s talk about....periods!

Let’s talk about....periods!

Today is International Menstrual Hygiene Day and I feel it’s time we break the silence around menses or periods and start conversations about them, first, at home. Only when we can “talk” about them openly, will we be able to address issues like hygiene.
