Dave and I covered this in detail. We covered the day he got this news and how he reflects on it, what the doctor told him, the long term consequences that he avoided and what the future holds for him.

I hope you guys enjoyed this chat as much as I did.

I would love to hear your feedback.

Nik Tavares #31 // "Wilfried Zaha Said Nik You Buzzin Innit?"

Episode 31 took my all the way to the UK to chat with current Wealdstone FC defender and former Crystal Palace player Nikola Tavares! I really enjoyed the insights that Nik shared into his journey, the culture that was cultivated under Roy Hodgson and the experience of sitting on the bench four times in the Premier League. Nik also shared about the pressures of training and the kind of expectations that your are required to meet at such a high performance environment.

Evan Roos #30 // "Its A Happy Bunch Of Oaks At A Union..."

I absolutely loved my chat with future Springbok Evan Roos. A man who at the young age of 21, has taken the South African Rugby community by storm with his performances but is one of the most humble guys I've had the privilege of chatting too and has such a big future in this game and in life. I hope you guys enjoy!

Dan Moriarty #19

Dan made the move from Cape Town to the UK after he had matriculated at Rondebosch Boys High School and has since made his debut for Surrey County Cricket team and since has rubbed shoulders with many childhood hero’s of his (and mine) 😜🏏  One thing that has really stood out to me was the chat about the culture of processes over outcomes and finding the balance between not getting to caught up in the highs and lows of cricket! 💯🤩  Thanks for joining me in the zoom room, Dan!

Dillyn Leyds #15

It was so nice chatting to current La Rochelle fullback Dillyn Leyds. We cover all things from a farewell to Newlands, life in France as well as the disappointment of not making the Rugby World Cup squad to go to Japan. 🏼

What is clear is Dillyns energy and easy going nature and man it was really refreshing to chat to him. Although he didn’t get to go to Japan in 2019, the Springbok Dream is still burning for him. 🇿🇦

 Damian Willemse #13

Damian Willemse #13

I thoroughly enjoyed my chat with World Cup winning fly-half Damian Willemse as he shared openly about the pressure that come with being a young guy in the pro set up as well as his experiences at rugby World Cup 2019 🇿🇦

We are well aware of his ability on the rugby field and it’s a scary thought, that he is only 22 and going to go from strength to strength. 🇿🇦🏼

Aside from that, off the field it is clear to see how he operates and the more I spoke to him the more clear it became about where his priorities lie as well as his heart to serve others! 🏼

Thank you for coming in the pod Damian! 🤩

Nic Groom #12

Nic Groom #12

Episode 12 that was a long time coming and man it was worth the wait!

The past 3 weeks haven’t gone all according to plan, podcast wise, but man I’m grateful for this chat I had with Nic.

Nonetheless, We cover the dangers of praise and affirmation and the ability of these to dictate happiness and performance 🏼

One thing that stands out for me and something I really admire, is Nic's perspective on the game and how it differs to many others.

Which keeps the core values of rugby at the centre. Experiences and friendships. 🏼

See you guys soon x

Daryn Dupavillon #11

Daryns YouTube Chanel:

https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC_SrH_3fOsd3hLFAixtNHZg

The 11th chat bought out insight into the life of a player that sustained injuries for 2 years and off the back of that lost his franchise contract. Frustrating would be the word. 🥵

However, his story shows how quickly things can change for the good and bad. Daryn has recently earned his first Proteas cap and explains the build up to that and how sweet the feeling was to achieve his childhood dream 🏼🇿🇦

Thanks for coming and chatting in the zoom room Daryn! I thoroughly enjoyed it! 🥳

Schalk Brits #8

Schalk Brits #8

An hour and 1 minutes of Springbok rugby captain No.63!

Rugby World Cup winner, 216 Saracens caps and great human being.

They say never meet your hero’s but after my chat to Schalk Brits I disagree, meet them (Even if it is over zoom! 🤣) Schalk embodies perseverance and a positive attitude in life. Everyone I’ve spoken too has only had positive words to say about him - and now so do I!

Schalk , thank you for your honesty and time - it was an absolute privilege to speak to a Springbok rugby legend 💛💚

To say that DHL Western Province and DHL Stormers lock forward, Chris Van Zyl is a legend and serious role model to all would be an understatement.

Paul De Wet #3

Paul De Wet #3

As far as down to earth athletes go, don’t look much further than DHL Western Province and DHL Stormers scrum half Paul De Wet.
This is a fairly different episode but was hellavu fun to record. As some some you may have seen, I gave Afrikaans a crack in the intro for the first time since matric (I rehearsed. A lot) but still fairly happy with the final result 🤪🤟🏼 He shared some awesome insight into the Thursday night before his Super Rugby debut, the Stormers and Western Province squad and life as a Paarl Boys High School 1st side player. *Any honest feedback please*

 Dylan Sage #2

Dylan Sage #2

First of all, thank you Dylan Sage for coming on!
Sometimes us as the public see sportsmen and sportswomen for there performances on the field and not for what they are off it. I think it’s important that athletes get this opportunity to express themselves as people before sportsmen or sportswomen.

Dylan has had a successful career thus far and shares some awesome insight into the Blitzboks and The Bulls as well as opening up about how he is coping with being side lined for 6+ months.

Tom Dawson-Squibb #1

Gee, that was harder than expected. 😲

Prior to the interview, Alex Payne said this to me “Take the pressure off yourself, enjoy what it is that you do, celebrate the good stories and be relaxed and laugh when it all goes wrong.” That is certainly easier said than done but advice I cherish and am eager to work on.

As far as comfort zones go - I reckon I was well out of mine, but nonetheless the content stays the same.
I hope you guys enjoy.
