S2E2 CORONADEMIC
This may be Sir Roger at his passionate, optimistic, honest, humane best,
Has this pandemic been the worst ever social and economic disaster in our lifetimes? Or has it been the squealing brakes we needed, to curb our pre-pandemic headlong, tunnel-vision rush towards . . . well, where? . . . And is it unprecedented? Or is it just one of the smaller health crises in roughly 300,000 years of the human story?.
What has roared up to surprise us is an incredible global treasure-trove and display of creativity and ingenuity that hadn’t displayed itself quite so publicly or broadly before. A lot of people are suddenly engrossed in something they love doing that has become more than a frivolous hobby.
We have discovered new ways of doing things and embraced new rules for living. There has been an extra flourishing of kindness and caring. And we have been excitedly learning and practising how to create a new and better future for all of us.
S2E1 Rude Britannia & Australian Values
There is a fantasy that very polite people hang desperately onto.
It is the pretence that what is so is not so—that the fortune; the titles; the servants and land; the privilege and status you enjoy, were not stolen by you or your murderous, barbarian ancestors . . .
and that what is not so, is so—that the world is cucumber sandwiches for tea; silk dresses; that the forelock tugging minions admire and respect you; and the divine right of robber barons.
This has been going on for many hundreds of years and it hides, masks, disguises and conceals the truth. It is the home of social deception of which we all are to some extent guilty.
But beneath the mannered courtesy, refinement and elegance is the stinking river of malignity in which we bathe. Because that is from where has grown our modern civilisation and unequal wealth.
We look at the polite world to find the barbarity that has bred and succoured us and the source of polite culture.
And we understand how Australia, Australian Values and Australians have mercifully escaped the worst of the bullshit culture of fake politeness.

Porter Loo
Porter Loo
Christian Porter is the Minister for Industrial Relations. This apparently means that he is effectively the minister for industrialists. We know this is who he is because he sees a tiny attempt to help people who need help as “a massive tax”, as “killing business”, even though he touts "Australian Values" of fairness which he appears to ignore.
You might think that with a name like Christian he would be a little more, you know, christian.
Part 2 Update: Apart from celebrating World Toilet Day, or as we like to call it, Porter Loo Day, Sir Roger has validated his official skill as Political Clairvoyant. How dare poor people steal rich people’s money! WorkPac and ‘Christian’ Porter have joined the fight against struggling casuals in the Federal Court. Nothing is what it seems! Coles isn't a retailer; it's in the real estate business, Mcdonalds is also in real estate. and if you're a casual employee you're not the customer you're the product the HR company sells at a profit.[ Supported by Growsit.es ]
How Australian Values Are Changing
Australian Politics is being nudged on a trajectory outside the known universe to delusional realms of a conspiratorial Fantasia. Otherwise normal people at the highest levels of government and commerce are fierce advocates of “theories” that are palpably bullshit.
Why we're not really "Larrikins",
Why opportunities aren't really "equal".
Why we're not really equal before the law.
How most of us don't like the far right or the far left.
What we actually have got, and how the US is showing us what it looks like when democracy starts to crash and burn.
Politicians Don't Own Australian Values
Australian Value #1: "Politicians don't decide what Australian Values are"
Sir Roger explains why, many moons ago, he wrote the First Law, and how the fact that John Hunt, the Coward, and “Slim” Beazley had engaged in a battle to hijack Australian Values caused Sir Roger to to take up arms against such anti-social piracy and made him a global celebrity. Of course the pollies are still at it, now the piracy is being forwarded under the regime of Ellan Fudge.
ALSO: what Australia's most cherished value , "mateship", really means. (It's not pretty.)

The Planet’s Narrow Escape.
He Goes Out!
We earthlings have just survived the very closest shave. The incongruity between the willingness to believe absolutely any bullshit and science’s careful gathering and weighing of evidence is mind bending. Disaster stared us in the face.

Trump: Can He Win? EMERGENCY EPISODE!
Can a Snake Oil salesman, con-man, professional liar, cheat, global laughing-stock really have a chance of fooling a nation twice? Well, yes according to a highly respected expert. But no according to a nervous Sir Roger. But this is URGENT! with only days to go
Dear DIC
This is the most famous of Values Australia's blogposts ever. When the Deputy Secretary of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship wrote to Sir Roger to complain in the most bureaucratically courteous and yet wounded tone about the Values Australia site - a letter variously described by others as “bizarre”, a “hoax” and (gloriously) “frog-shit” - Values Australia had to respond, to take advantage of this un-dreamt of opportunity.. Values Australia would like to thenk the Deputy Secretary for the sudden leap to the very top of the Google rankings.
