Ep. 6: My Favorite Quote + Clubhouse App Inclusiveness
In today's episode, I talked about my absolute favorite quote and how the Clubhouse app is so inclusive!
QUOTE: "I'm not what I think I am, I'm not what you think I am, I'm what I think you think I am"~ Charles Cooley, American Sociologist
Simplified Breakdown of quote:
the beginning, “I am not what I think I am”- We spend SO much time working on our selves and who we want to be, and in our minds we are that person. But we might not truly be that person. (Confusing I know) but essentially we are not looking from the outside in and have a limited view of who we actually are. So we can’t define ourselves on what we think of ourselves.
Second part of the quote is “I'm not what you think I am”- We can’t read other people’s mind’s, so we don’t know what they TRULY are thinking. People are quick to judge and we can’t take what they assume to heart and mold our personality, lives, and self-identity!
The last part of the quote is “I'm what I think you think I am"- We care so much of what other people think of us. We spend time thinking about what others think of us and then adapt our ways to those expectations.
Overall conclusion- We do all three of these things instead of being our authentic selves! I challenge everyone to not try and live up to other people’s expectations, and live up to your own. This is how you’ll truly live and love your best live and find your true unified identity!
