Taking Responsibility for Your Life to Create Magic
Taking Responsibility for Your Life You want me to take responsibility for what!? Yes, for your own life. It’s so easy to give your power away to outside circumstances, blame people or situations for what you’re feeling but in actuality its all down to you. How to Practice True Self Love
I was asked a question this week about book recommendations for self love which I struggled to answer as no particular book stands out to me. This gave me a chance to reflect on the self love journey I was currently on and what I believe self love to be (and not to be) so in this video I cover how to practice true self-love, not just the fluffy kind. Changing the Conversation Around Cancer
Okay, let's change the fear based conversation around cancer. Cancer (and most dis-eases/diagnosis) do not have to be the end of the world. They can indicate a misalignment in our lives and present us with an opportunity to grow and change our reality. Yes cancer is not a nice thing to be diagnosed with (I have been there) but we have the freedom of choice of how we deal with it. Our minds are so powerful we can change our reality. When we change our own reality we change the collective consciousness. If you’re with me on this journey of changing the world and helping others (but most importantly ourselves) view life from a place of love not fear then let me know. Viewing your life from a place of love will bring with it such joy and fulfilment, it will seem as if life is so easy - how does that sound to you? Lessons From Spiritual Solo Travel
As a 31 year old woman, in April I took to the skies to embark on my first solo travel journey. I encountered three weeks filled with magic. I went to Bali, Indonesia - a place known for its magical energy and spiritual communities - so I could focus on healing from my cancer journey and further my spiritual awakening. I wasn’t sure if this is what I was going through but now I know I am and there is no going back. There were miracles and lessons which ultimately resulted in a deeper connection with myself and healing on a profound level. Lessons From Meeting the Ultimate Beauty Queen: Charlotte Tilbury MBE
As a long standing young ambassador for the British charity, the Prince’s Trust, I was recently honoured to meet Charlotte Tilbury MBE and the CEO of the beauty brand, Lady Demetra Pinsent. Charlotte has just become the first Ambassador for Enterprise for the charity which is really exciting for the futures of many people starting out in business. I have met and learned many lessons from some incredible business women on my journey including founder of The White Company, Chrissie Rucker OBE and Annoushka Ducas MBE, founder of Annouska and Links of London (one of my personal, jewellery role models). Charlotte stood out to me because of the important message she had to give us and I had to share it with you. The lessons were all about dreaming big and being daring enough to take action but the most important lesson in my eyes was about vibration and your frequency. Learn more about how to be limitless from Charlotte Tilbury MBE in my latest episode of Design Your Legacy. Letting Go From The Inside Out: A Lesson in Surrender
My recent lesson in letting go, from the inside out. This week has been my second week exploring Bali and my plans didn’t go… to plan. This gave me a wonderful opportunity to let go, surrender and trust myself and the universe. From bats in hotel rooms, synchronistic meetings and happenings to detoxes and healing of the mind, body and spirit. Listen to my story and see if there’s a way you can implement surrender into your life this week. Our ego’s love to control situations to ‘keep us safe’ which can be to our own detriment. Releasing control and trusting everything happens as its meant to is the way to freedom. How do You Numb Your Pain and How to Heal It
How do you numb the emotional pain you feel? We all have our own ‘poison’ we choose when we want to avoid something that hurts deeply. Something we’re not ready to look at and 90% of the time don’t want to look at. It can stem from past trauma we’re aware of or something we can’t quite quite put our finger on but we all have stuff that in an ideal world we’d be given space to heal. Only we’re not (we have to make space) and society just encourages us to numb the pain. Alcohol, drugs, smoking, sex, shopping - choose your poison. I once heard Joseph McLendon III say (at a Tony Robbins seminar) to ‘feel sorry for the guy with 4 Ferrari’s and a yacht’ rather than envious of him because he’s possibly so sad and hurt and uses his money to avoid it. It made me laugh. It’s our responsibility to heal our own hurts so we don’t carry them forever and manifest unwanted dis-eases that can end our life early. You can also read the blog post that compliments this video on ‘how to heal your pain’ rather than live a life distracted from it. https://www.roseannacroft.com/blog/living-a-life-distracted-and-avoiding-pain Rx Roseanna Croft is your host of Design Your Legacy - a podcast and youtube channel giving support and encouragement to those wishing to create a new life that they’re in love with. Growth Happens Outside Your Comfort Zone
Growth doesn’t happen while you’re in your comfort zone. You can’t be fulfilled and live a life beyond your wildest dreams if you’re not growing. As humans we’re meant to grow and grow we shall! ~You Can Design Your Legacy and Live The Life Of Your Dreams~   A few days ago I turned 31 and it was a funny day, unlike other birthdays. Having been diagnosed with cancer, broken up with a long term boyfriend and moved into a flat on my own for the first time ever, there were a lot of learnings in the year I turned 30.   Over and above all, I learned how to be more present with myself and my needs and how to act from my higher self. I no longer feel the need to set wildly ambitious goals because that's what I think I am supposed to do.    I am learning to be content with where I am in order to reach true joy and fulfilment. I hope this resonates with you.   Lots of love! The Power of Love
~You Can Design Your Legacy and Live The Life Of Your Dreams~   What is the power of love? With it being Valentine's Day this week I wanted to share what I believe the power of love to be and how we can embrace it to live a more fulfilled life.   We're sold the idea that we need another half to make us whole when actually the secret is to love ourselves above all others. That's when we experience wholeness.   When you are vibrating at the love frequency is when magic and miracles will start to unfold in your life. Don't believe me? Try it.   Lots of love! How You Can Create a Better Tomorrow by Training Today
~You Can Design Your Legacy and Live The Life Of Your Dreams~   This week I am sharing more about personal development in light of Bob Proctor passing last week. Bob Proctor's contribution to The Secret was a massive starting point in my personal development journey and a big reason I am where I am today, having healed from a rare cancer and grown a successful jewellery company.   To live a better tomorrow I believe we have to start 'training' today. We must look at the areas of our mind, body and soul and decide if we're happy if we are where we are. If not, I want you to know there are other possibilities available to you.   Anything is possible on your path to living the life of your dreams. We only scratch the surface here but hopefully the words in this video can help you on your path to where you want to be.   This podcast is also available to watch on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dt8Fgfb8fTY You can follow my personal journey as I heal from cancer treatment and live my best life here -  https://www.instagram.com/roseanna.croft  To learn more about how you transform your life from fear based living to thriving in the life of your dreams then please DM me on Instagram. Finding True Beauty on My Cancer Journey and How You Can Find Yours
~You Can Design Your Legacy and Live The Life Of Your Dreams~   I want to share how being unapologetically you can help you live the life of your dreams.   I, like most women, have placed a lot of my self worth in how I look since my teenage years. For women society places a lot of emphasis on what they think beauty should look like. Then we're left feeling unworthy of love if we don't look like the next flawless model.    Because of my own insecurities, I have tried to change how I looked since I was a teenager by dying my hair, dressing a certain way and never embracing the real me and what I actually wanted to look like - I have always simply tried to fit in.    Losing my hair due to chemotherapy has challenged that and made me look deeper to find my true beauty and value. I am so grateful to this experience because I now feel closer to my true beauty and feel I can embrace it and start to let it shine.   In this video I share a bit of my 'beauty' and hair loss journey, while really just cracking this can of worms open a tiny bit. I also share how I believe we can embrace our beauty more by being more present with ourselves - this is how I started. Mainly because I don't want to wear a wig anymore!!   This podcast is available to watch on YouTube - https://youtu.be/VWB8UsWi6tc   You can follow my personal journey as I heal from cancer treatment and live my best life here -  https://www.instagram.com/roseanna.croft   To learn more about how I can help you transform your life from fear based living to thriving on intuition then please DM me on Instagram. How I Beat Cancer: A Personal Journey
~You Can Design Your Legacy and Live The Life Of Your Dreams~   Last year I beat cancer and every day I reflect on that fact, it amazes me. It wasn't an easy journey by any stretch of the imagination but one that some of us don't have a choice in embarking on. I wanted to share how I beat cancer to show that we all have control over our lives even when life throws us something difficult, we are in the driving seat should we wish to be. Whether you have been given a diagnosis or you're just not enjoying the life you are leading you can take back control and make a change.   Disclaimer: I am not and do not claim to be an expert in cancer or treatment for disease and illness and I am not advising anyone on how to treat their own cancer or diagnose an illness. This is purely an account of my own personal experience including some spiritual and some scientific backed practices I used throughout my journey. If you are facing your own cancer journey then I suggest conducting your own thorough research and choose what is right for you.   The book I reference is by Kelly A. Turner PhD who studied cases of so called 'radical remission' of cancer and learned the common factors.   I also reference the work of Dr Joe Dispenza who I have followed religiously throughout my journey and have completed his Intensive and Progressive courses.  The best place to start with his work I believe is his book 'You Are The Placebo' This podcast is also available to watch on YouTube - https://youtu.be/wd1aXFwg46k You can follow my personal journey as I heal from cancer treatment and live my best life here -  https://www.instagram.com/roseanna.croft  If you're interested in learning more about magical jewellery design that carries legacies throughout generations then please visit our website here -  www.roseannacroftjewellery.com

What 2021 Taught Me About Living For 2022 And Beyond
In 2021 I was given a cancer diagnosis that changed my life, within 6 months I had beaten the odds and overcome it. Comparison is the Thief of Joy
Roseanna speaks with Stephanie Hill, a cancer research scientist, classical crossover vocalist, ballroom and Latin dancer, equestrian and former Miss World Europe. Stephanie aims to advocate for polymathy among women and to increase transparency around the often elusive field of medical research and women in STEM. The two women delve into the world of cancer research from the view of a scientist and someone going through chemotherapy at the time of recording. They speak of beauty pageants and what Stephanie has learned from them, there is more to pageantry than meets the eye. A recurring theme throughout is the power of storytelling and what stories and legacies can do to change the world. Roseanna and Stephanie also speak about how comparison can be the thief of joy and learning your own value instead of wishing for another life you may see on social media. In this episode, there are some amazing insights about such an array of topics and many laughs. Leave an Aspirational Imprint on the World
In this episode, Roseanna speaks with Kathryn Bishop, writer, editor and creative consultant for people in the jewellery industry. Kathryn is the Foresight Editor for trends and insights and The Future Laboratory, vice-chair of the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council and co-founder of the women's jewellery network. They have a deep and insightful conversation about stepping outside your comfort zone, making difficult decisions to bring things we’ve created to a close, how legacy can be your aspirational imprint on the world and the women who came before us to become our role models. Everything Kathryn does seems to follow her values, she is clearly very passionate and selfless which is evident with the ‘extra curricular’ work she does and the advice she gives about helping others. When Roseanna and Kathryn speak about legacy they speak about it not meaning having to break glass ceilings every day. As Kathryn says, a good question to ask ourselves about legacy is what kind of future we want to live in? Feel Incredible From The Inside Out
In this episode, I speak with Julia Darlington and Becky Leeson, two women with impressive careers in the fashion industry and now in their own ways and together, coaching women to feeling incredible from the inside out. Our conversation is so varied, we cover how we dress and the confidence it can give us, women seeking investment, imposter syndrome, the power of the subconscious mind and how legacy can be as sweet as sharing a moment with someone. I can’t wait to see how the world changes in the coming years as women step into their power and for me this conversation epitomises the journey women are facing. We have a long way to go but it is within the limitless possibilities available to us - we can make it happen! I love how these two women have connected over a simple call and from that are affecting so many women’s lives. Their passion to help boost women is evident and it gives me goosebumps when I listen back. Have a think about who in your sisterhood you’ve connected to on this level, maybe you can make some incredible things happen to. Don't Be Afraid to be You - Kerry Gregory
Today I speak with Kerry Gregory, founder of Gemmology Rocks, qualified and extremely knowledgeable gemologist and all-around badass no BS woman. I met Kerry through my love of gemstones and desire to learn more about gemology and we hit it off straight away over Zoom and firing each other up so I am very excited to bring you this episode. We speak about the power of being authentic, learning who you are and what you stand for and acting on that instead of who you think you should be, non-traditional marriage as well as some of the wonderful jewellery in the world including that in her treasure box. Kerry gives some wonderful advice about the importance of ‘being you’. Perhaps something we can all reflect on as we move forward in our life. Magic does truly happen when we’re less afraid to be ourselves and can act from a more authentic place aligned with our values, whatever they may be. Kerry also has some wonderful stories relating to her jewellery. Having her gold wedding rings cast in the sand from the beach she used to play on as a child, does it get more wonderful than that?  I really hope you enjoyed today’s conversation and if you did please give us a rating or perhaps share this episode with a friend if you think it will resonate. Being A Business for Good - Masami Sato
In this episode of Design Your Legacy, Roseanna speaks with Masami Sato, 2x TEDx speaker, amazon bestselling author and founder of the charitable organisation, B1G1. B1G1 is an organisation born from Masami’s vision to want to make a positive impact on the world with the work she did. You can hear her wonderful business journey and how she first learned she wanted to give back to how she now helps thousands of businesses make an impact in the world. This impact helps people throughout the world live a better life. Imagine buying a book, knowing that then a child in India can receive some help in education. Imagine buying a bespoke piece of jewellery knowing a child in Colombia is given a workshop to help prevent them working in illegal and toxic gold mines. This has been made possible thanks to ‘Buy 1 Give 1.’ In the episode we speak of legacy only needing you to commit to being the best version of yourself every day. It doesn’t need to be high aspirations of becoming prime minister or putting a complete stop to world poverty. Just to do the best you can every single day. If you loved the episode then we’d be so grateful if you could leave a review or share it with a friend to help others find the podcast and carry on the ripple effect of legacy and change. The Secret To Wholehearted Living - Sally Bell
Dr Sally Bell is a trained GP and medical doctor with over 20 years of experience. She uses a style of medicine that is very personalised. In this episode, we talk about Dr Sally Bell’s journey to wholehearted living and so much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST She went into medicine because she wanted to help but halfway through her career she lost her own health and that was the tipping point for her looking at how she could manage her health differently because she did not want to just medicate her symptoms.  Sally has a small clinic and also offers online course, as well as lifestyle escapes where she teams up with the beautiful Hampton Manor which focuses on teaching the steps and giving the tools to help the client recover their health. Wholehearted living is personalised in that we each need to figure out what we need to survive and thrive, building a lifestyle that is sustainable for our happiness and health.  Legacy for Sally is deep, it’s what messages she’s sharing, and how she lives her life in a way that is sustainable not only for her own health but for planetary health too.  It’s creating a future for not only her children but for her grandchildren as well. Her own legacy is to create beautiful family rhythms that are sustainable and healthy.  Thinking about nutrition, and healthy living for ourselves and the earth. Sally’s family didn’t really have jewellery aside from wedding rings but Sally loves the idea of heirlooms, so much so that she’s saving so that she can create beautiful jewellery for her girls. Her advice on living a meaningful and wholehearted life and leaving a legacy, is to have the courage to live an inside out life, connect with who you really are, surround yourself with people who call out the better you, and who give you the courage to live from your inner convictions.  Once you find that sweet spot, that’s wholehearted living. What’s For You Won’t Go By You - Gina Unterhalter
Gina Unterhalter is a soul and purpose-led life, career and business coach.  She started her career in law and spent ten years there before realising that it wasn’t her calling.  She now empowers people to create their legacies, doing what they love.  She’s also a mother to two young boys. This is a thought-provoking conversation and in this episode, we talk about Gina’s life and living your life in true alignment. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Gina’s family immigrated to South Africa in the early 1900, with her grandparents fleeing Palestine and Poland respectively. They arrived in a new land with nothing but the bags on their backs, but through hard work, the family prospered.  The deep love and respect she has for her family is apparent and their legacy is clear to see. Gina herself started her career as a lawyer like her father and grandfather before her and she remained there for 10 years, ignoring her inner voice and intuition until one day she could no more.  It was then that she took the leap to establish herself as an intuitive coach and leader and she’s doing work that sets her soul on fire. Legacy for Gina is being brave enough to step into our purpose and be the change we want to see in the world.  For her own legacy, Gina wants to create a legacy of empowerment, and for the people she touches and works with, to remember who they are.  That’s what she wants to be known for and remembered as. Gina talks about her engagement ring that has such a wonderful story and meaning and is now a constant reminder of the legacy of her family and purpose-led work she’s doing now and her relationship with her husband. For her advice on living a meaningful life and leaving a legacy, Gina says to trust yourself, trust your power and your truth.  Know and believe that you are powerful and that the world needs you just as you are.  You are enough. Lucy Kebbell is the founder of The Vendeur which is a media platform focused on sustainable and ethical fashion, beauty and lifestyle.  She is a champion for small sustainable brands.  She is also the host of a podcast called ‘Style with substance’. In this episode, we talk about Lucy’s glamorous experience and what led her to sustainable fashion. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Lucy’s love for fashion and jewellery started at a very young age and by 13 she’d realised that it was possible to get a job doing what you loved.  She discovered that Lucinda Chambers was the Fashion Director of Vogue, that she was a stylist and that was a job that people did, and Lucy realised that that’s what she wanted to do. She shares the details of the start of her journey and you can still hear the excitement!  With over 15 years in the fashion industry, and working with fashion magazines, jewellery was always the main feature in that journey.  Until she began working on her own business, Lucy was with Harpers Design’s Town and Country magazine.  She then freelanced and worked as an editor and again she focused on fine jewellery and watches. It was while working as a freelancer that she came across sustainable fashion after watching ‘The true cost’.  Lucy created and founded The Vendeur after the realisation that she was perfectly placed with her experience in the fashion work to learn how she could do better and in turn teach others in the fashion industry how they could do better because at the time she could not find the resources that were sharing what she wanted to know. The Vendeur have also launched a membership called the WIP (work in progress) to further support brands who are working sustainably and give them the community they need to continue the work that they’re doing as well as practical business training. Legacy for Lucy is leaving things in a better state than you found them.  She believes in pausing and figuring out how to make it a more positive thing or experience. When talking about jewellery passed down Lucy has quite a lot passed down/given as she comes from a family where jewellery was personally important to them.  She was given pieces that her grandmothers liked and it gave them pleasure to see Lucy wear them. Other pieces were promised to Lucy from them, for when they were gone. She also has pieces from her dad, her mother and also pieces from her partner.  She has wonderful pieces that she talks about and all are etched with memories and sentiments. For her advice on living a meaningful life and leaving a legacy, Lucy goes back to thinking about how you leave things; with people and with the planet.  Slow down, be mindful of the now and be in that moment. Lucy's new project, The WIP is a digital membership platform for sustainable brand founders and entrepreneurs. Find out more about our Kickstarter campaign and launch by subscribing, links below. Shine Like A Star - Dara Ford
Dara Ford is an exclusive female tailor and dressmaker with over 20 years of experience.  She is based in London and is one of the few female-specific trailers in all of the UK.  She is also a mother to three daughters. In this episode, we talk about Dara’s journey, her values and her business. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Her story starts as a teenager, where she should make her own clothes, and as a ballroom dancer who would also make her own gowns and then eventually lead to making clothes for friends.  After school, she became an apprentice for an Haute couturier and spent 3 years learning the craft. She then moved to London to study Fashion.  After university, she got a job with a small designer label that had just been awarded a new generation award by the British Fashion Council, where she had a wonderful learning experience.  When it was time to move again Dara looked at her own values and how she wanted to live her life and decided to start her own business because her views were not compatible with the industry norm. And she’s been doing it for over 12 years. Legacy for Dara is more of an emotional thing, it is the values that can be instilled in children and that are passed down from parents and grandparents.  It is the thought of how we approach life and the relationships we leave behind.  Secondary would be physical things that we pass down and also money and the things that can make life easier for the next generation.  In terms of physical pieces, there is jewellery that she’d like to pass on and she mentioned the importance of passing jewellery on with a note that tells the story of the piece. Dara inherited a necklace from her grandmother and what she loves about it is that it has three gold beads that makes her think of her daughters and when Dara wears it she feels it links her grandmother to her daughters.  Most of her jewellery are gifts and have a story.  Dara mentions several pieces in the episode.   One piece is a custom-designed silver necklace with an aquamarine stone that her husband of 22 years made for her just 2 years into their relationship and another is a beautiful broach she bought with birthday money that her father had given her just before he passed away. Her advice about living a meaningful life is to believe in yourself and follow your intuition.  Trust the decisions you’re making. Being The Children’s Champion - Action Amanda (Amanda Frolich)
Action Amanda aka Amanda Frolich is a children's champion and her mission is to teach children in the early childhood years how to be healthy and fit.  She does this through props, music, dancing and a whole load of fun.  She is passionate about her concept because getting the kids at a foundational level, sets them up for success in later years. In this episode, we talk about Action Amanda’s 30-year legacy and all the things she still wants to do. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Action Amanda is full of energy which she attributes to 30 years of keeping healthy.  Even from when she left school, Amanda knew she was passionate about staying active, so her first job was working as a recreational assistant at a leisure centre where she worked her way up to be assistant manager.  But she was offered a course in 1991 which focused on teaching preschoolers and she knew she would love it and it was called Action Kids.  She started doing her classes and people were bringing their kids but she knew/felt something was missing.  One day she was in Ikea and saw some bunny rabbit ears and inspiration hit.  And this is where the concept was born, working with props, music and dance to teach the kids how to be healthy and fit in a fun way. Through parents attending her classes she was also asked to do the same thing at kids birthday parties and events and even for notable celebrities which started with Victoria and David Beckham and although she became known as a ‘celebrity entertainer’, her passion was always educating children and Action Amanda has grown from there.  She has an app where kids can watch her videos if they’re not able to attend her classes, songs like ‘Wash your hands’ that encourage children to be healthy and finally she has an animation show coming. Legacy for Amanda is being remembered for doing something wonderful and showing up and shining for other people.  She wants to be the female role model and be known for making children happy and healthy around the world. For her 50th birthday, her two best friends from childhood gave her a necklace that had more meaning than the friends realised. The pendant says “It’s good to be happy” and has a little A on it and Amanda’s surname is Frolich which means happy jolly in German and the sentiments blew Amanda away and she treasures it.  Her engagement ring is another piece that she treasures.  It was handmade in Turkey and she helped design. Amanda also loves her watches and it’s a piece that works well for her because she’s in tracksuits 7 days a week.  She has two that she wears.  One is a watch she bought for her husband and when he outgrew it, she had it resized for herself because she loves it so much, and she has another one that her husband bought for her.  She also had stud earrings which are her Action Amanda trademark. Her advice about living a meaningful life is to look after your body as you only get one life.  Spend time with your family, have a good work-life balance. And if you have a gift, go out there and don’t hold back.  Don’t live in what if’s.  Take life's opportunities.  Say yes and work out how to do it afterwards. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Anouska has always loved to sing, so much so that from a young age, her parents signed her up for singing class, and together with her desire to help people and her interest in human behaviour, becoming a voice teacher was a natural step.  The step to sing herself came to head with the passing of her parents where she realised how short life is and she knew she had to do what she loved. When Anouska needs to ‘stand up in a bigger way’ she will always wear her mum's jewellery as these give her strength and courage.  There are 3 pieces and when needed, she’ll wear all 3; a silver bangle, her mum’s engagement (a diamond daisy cluster) ring and a pair of droopy diamond earrings. Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend - Josie Goodbody
Josie Goodbody is an author, mother and jewellery historian. Josie has written some extremely entertaining books about the mysteries of Jemima Fox and her jewellery career! In this episode we talk about Josie’s travels and what brought her to where she is today, writing books and sharing her expertise. Keep listening to learn about fabulous jewels, writing novels and leaving a legacy KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Josie has truly lived an amazing life and I love that she found a deep passion for jewellery (and Marylin Monroe) from such an early age. This is for me how a strong legacy begins, by following your passion. Josie has an abundance of heirloom jewellery that has a story for each piece that carries the legacy of her mother and other treasured relatives. Unfortunately, Josie had an undesirable experience when redesigning some amethyst earrings, I would encourage anybody considering having jewellery redesigned to make sure you and the jeweller you’re working with are on the same page which you can do through sketches, mood boards and 3D designs. When redesigning your old jewellery or having anything sentimental made for that matter, don’t work with the cheapest or most convenient person you can find - do the research and have conversations to find someone you trust and feel aligned too. You can learn more about how we redesign jewellery at Roseanna Croft Jewellery through my new ebook. Josie’s advice to be honest with yourself and don’t put pressure on yourself is so relevant for the fast times we are living in. It’s drilled into us that we’re supposed to do all of these things to be successful. It’s amazing when you find something you’re passionate about but don't feel you have to do it all. This is something I have learned first-hand over the last 12 months especially - please make sure you take time to enjoy life. So, please have a search on Amazon for the Jemima Fox mysteries which are being optioned for TV and hopefully we’ll have read the books before they end up on Netflix! You can find the links to follow Josie in the show notes and do give her podcast ‘The Jewellarian’ a listen, if like us you’re fascinated by jewellery. Add Your Stamp To Everything You do - Fay Cannings
Fay Cannings is; a good friend, a good partner, a good family member and a  leader in community impact and social values.  She is the founder of Seekd, an online marketplace for eco-friendly jewellery and accessories. She lives by her values.  In this episode, she shares how she's done that. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Throughout her career Fay has always worked in community impact or social impact and together with her the influence of jewellery through the family business of trading jewellery, it was almost inevitable that something like Seekd would eventually be created. Legacy has been an evolution and it takes time and effort to figure it out and Fay is still working on hers but ultimately for her, it’s been about creating an impact on peoples lives and offering community and connectivity. Given the family business, Fay has many favourite pieces, but her absolute favourite was an antique ring from her grandmother that Fay’s grandfather had gotten her.  It’s a stunning ring with two stones and the stones represent his two daughters in law, one of whom was Fay’s mum. In giving advice on living a meaningful life and leaving a legacy, Fay says that the key thing is not to give up and not to compare yourself to others because your journey is unique and you are doing things that are special to you.  Take the time to hone in on what is unique and special to you and if in doubt, speak to those around you, your nearest and dearest and hear what they say.  Surround yourself with a good support network and finally, decide on what you want your purpose to be, what your core values are, and just keep going and putting your own stamp out there. When The Stars Align - Victoria and Grace
Victoria and Grace Sheppard are sisters and business partners and the inspiring founders of Queens of Mayfair; an artisan coffee shop with deep values connected to supporting responsible consumption and a welcoming community. In this episode, we speak of the importance of ethical values and how family help you define your legacy.  KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST  Working in the area and having roots there, the sisters felt something was missing in their Mayfair community in terms of coffeeshop options and was Grace who one day found herself in front of the family office building when the inspiration hit that there could be a coffee shop in that space and combined with their understanding the area and what people wanted, and their knowledge in branding and sourcing high products, they felt confident that they could tackle the project together. It was a space that offered a local place to meet while offering the highest grade products while supporting responsible consumption and high standards of ethical practice.  Legacy influenced the decision they made in opening Queens of Mayfair and started with the absolutely certain that their grandmother, who had recently passed, would have encouraged them to do it.  The tea they serve is the tea their grandmother gave them growing up and has ties to the town she grew up in, in Ireland. They also use products sourced from Dorset which is where they’re from.  They are mindful of the legacy of their grandparents and this influences them on a daily basis.  Legacy for them on a personal note is having a beautiful family and being able to provide for them, and offer inspiration.  But in terms of the legacy they want to leave with the business, there is still a lot they want to achieve with the brand, and will continue to grow organically and authentically.  But one element of that, is being part of the conversation that says, yes of course women can do that, of course women can achieve their goals.  Women succeeding in business is the norm, not the exception. For Grace, jewellery is sentimental and she generally won’t take anything off unless it falls off. She loved wearing her mum's engagement ring and only stopped when a stone got loose and she wears rings that belonged to her grandma.  Victoria loves her watches but two special pieces are an old-style diamond ring her mum gave her for her 21st birthday which in turn had been gifted to her by Victoria’s father to celebrate Victoria’s birth.  She’s considering having it remodelled into several pieces.  Another special piece is a necklace that her grandmother wore every day which has a diamond in her grandma’s star sign.  And while she doesn't wear it, she holds it often and it feels like a good luck charm.   Then there’s the necklace that Grace and their mum gave her for her 30th birthday which is special for the sentimental value but also because it’s a beautiful pearl Van Cleef shamrock and it reminds her of her grandmother. Grace has had a turquoise ring commissioned 10 - 15 years ago because she was on the hunt and couldn’t find one as she was very particular about what she wanted.  She also hopes to be involved in the design of her engagement ring.   Their parting advice to living a meaningful life - you only have one life so you need to have true passion, follow a vision and take that leap of faith and have the courage to break free from your comfort zone. Do things that have authenticity to who you are as a person.  LINKS MENTIONED IN TODAY’S EPISODE  Queens of Mayfair  Roseanna Croft Jewellery Website   Find Roseanna Croft Jewellery on Instagram  Find Me on Instagram

I Took The Road Least Travelled - Jo MacFarlane
Jo MacFarlane is a creative, a teacher and Luxury Candle Business owner and author of Ask and Act, a book that shares her journey and talks about spirituality mixed with business. In this episode, we learn about the importance of being open to change and opportunities. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Jo is a serial creator which led her to her candle business which was originally created from her kitchen table and has grown into a thriving business where she now creates candles for luxury hotels around Scotland and the UK, she runs in-person workshops (pre covid) and also runs online workshops. She pivoted during the lockdown and now has her course ‘Run Your Business From The Kitchen Table’ online as well as two of her candle making workshops, and of course she’s still making her candles. Her book is business-focused but has a whimsical angle as she tells stories from her time as an air hostess.  It is a guide to building a first-class business and touches on spirituality in terms of manifestation and visualising your dream life. The candle business happened quite by chance after making candles for Christmas presents one year.  She then started selling to friends and local people. Then came the call from a local hotel, The Fairmont asking for a few hundred candles.    The next step came with the subscription box Birchbox, where she thought her candles would make a wonderful addition to their box.  Jo emailed them and they said they’d love to work with her and asked for a quote for 10,000 candles and this is when she had to scale the business.  The business has grown organically at the customer's desires. Pivoting and being open to change and opportunities have meant that Jo has continued her business even with her studio being closed for in-person workshops for a year.  Moving to the online platform has now meant that she has worked with people from all across the world and has been able to widen her impact. Legacy was the push Jo needed to publish her book, to help other people.  She wanted people to learn from her journey and perhaps avoid some of the mistakes.  Legacy is also the impact she’s had on the hundreds of people all around the world, who have come through her workshops (online or in-person).  Legacy to Jo is giving people an opportunity.  Legacy is being part of a catalyst. Her mum and grandmother's wedding rings are a couple of the pieces Jo has and treasures, as well as a crystal ring she bought herself.  There’s also the romantic 3 heart-shaped diamonds her husband got her, which have been turned into a bracelet. Jo also still has some pieces she received for her 18th birthday but that she doesn’t wear but they hold memories.  She’s now thinking of having them remodelled. Her parting advice on creating a meaningful life - everyone should run a marathon. Because in that journey we discover so much.  We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. Legacy for Monique is about what you leave behind, it’s about the positive differences you have made to someone's life or can be an organisation that you leave that will inspire others. Legacy also has a figurative meaning of passing a torch which can be a lovely piece of jewellery.  Monique talks of a vintage ruby ring from her grandma which has a wonderful story. It’s a tale about strength and independence and how her grandma bought herself the ring as a treat to congratulate herself on her sacrifices and what she had achieved as a single, divorced mum who rose through the ranks in the army in a time where this status was frowned on. Wearing it reminds Monique even when things are hard, if you have a goal, it is possible to achieve it. Her closing advice is to look around and try to pursue the one thing that drives you that comes natural and try and link it to a purpose where others benefit. Do The Soul Work - Fjona Hill
Fjona Hill is the Creative Director of Hampton Manor who is not only building her own legacy but is stewardess of the legacy being built by Hampton Manor. She is one half of the husband and wife duo who run the historical estate. Her story is not one you’d possibly expect, given that she trained as a doctor. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Hampton Manor is a boutique hotel and Michelin star restaurant set on a historical estate.  Remarkably, Hampton Manor was able to pivot quickly during Covid19 and within weeks of the lockdown were able to launch Peel on wheels, and make their first delivery.  Peels on wheels is fine dining delivered to your door.  Fjona shares that people have a need to celebrate and the delivery of the meals offers an ‘invite to the table’ that creates a different feeling to the one we’re used to every day. Fjona started her training as a doctor but had a creative calling and when the opportunity came to take a gap year, she spent it working as a wedding photographer.  Going back to her training, the call was still there so she took another gap year and never went back.  She did a Masters in photojournalism and simultaneously her husband James had just started with the family business of Hampton Manor and she was invited to do the interior design of the manor. She then went into photojournalism and had to travel a lot for work, often to dangerous locations, so when she got pregnant she decided to make a change.  During that time she got approached to work with an interior design studio which she did for a year before returning to Hampton Manor as Creative Director. Having a country estate is a legacy.  In days gone by most people's lives and livelihoods were attached to the main house, so there is a sense of responsibility not to keep it to yourself but rather how to use it to impart it to the community.  They are stewards of the estate.  Legacy for the family is a place, and their job is to sow it with depth.  Legacy can be hard to describe or pin but when you have a physical place, you can see the full expression. This is a family with an appreciation of stories and legacy, the gold band of Fjona’s engagement ring was second hand and her husband had it reworked to add stones and she loves that it had a strand of history and that they’ve woven their own strand in. Her parting advice on creating a meaningful life is not to forget to do the soul work.  Sometimes it takes some digging beneath the immediate needs to discover what the soul needs. When Fate Steps In - Rachael Taylor
The second series kicks off with Rachael Taylor, a jewellery journalist who built one of the most read jewellery magazines from scratch before choosing freedom with freelance journalism.  She’s a mum of two and now writes for the likes of the Financial Times, Condé Nast magazines, and Rapaport.  She also runs Jewellery Cut,  a platform that showcases independent fine jewellery designers through engaging editorial, sparkling social posts and live events, including a bi-annual jewellery showcase during London Fashion Week.  Learn how she and The Jewellery Cut team are changing lives. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVERED IN THE PODCAST Rachael Taylor clearly has a passion for jewellery, but more than that she has a passion for highlighting and showcasing independent and small jewellery designers and she does this through her work as a jewellery journalist but also through the Jewellery Cut where aside from the sale of jewellery, an important aspect of the platform is the introductions and connections they are able to provide and enable. Her legacy aside from her printed work is making jewellery a conversation in the online space, where before it was rarely covered, and now there are 3 or 4 dedicated jewellery magazines.   Her vision has always been to make jewellery accessible, showcasing the independent small designers as well as the big names. Her legacy is also the connections and introductions she’s able to make for people through the Jewellery Cut. With her line of work, Rachael has seen many wonderful pieces but one stuck her which was a gold necklace with a tiny carving of a hand clutching a heart-shaped ruby that she had seen and obsessed about but hadn’t yet bought.  The story gets sweeter as she then shares how her husband gave her this same necklace at the Jewellery Cut’s first independent show to commemorate the event.  It is a reminder of her achievements but also her husbands’ sweetness.  She also talks about a bracelet her late grandmother passed on to her. When asked what advice she would give, Rachael says passion.  It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re giving it your all.  And her advice to emerging designers is to put yourself out there as much as possible.  Talk about your work, wear your work and network.  You don’t know what opportunities will come. Design Your Legacy Series 2 Trailer
Welcome to Series 2 of Design Your Legacy, the podcast where we have inspiring conversations about life, legacy and jewellery. This has been an amazing series to record and I hope that with these conversations you will feel inspired to think about the legacy you’re leaving and know that you can design your life (and your jewellery!) I believe that we carry much of our legacy in our jewellery and you will hear why in the coming episodes but just think of the most important jewellery in your life, what stories does it tell? In this series we have; Rachael Taylor, jewellery journalist; Fjona Hill, CD at Hampton Manor; Monique Hodgson founder of Mumble Forum; Willa Newton, professional eventing rider; Jo MacFarlane a luxury candle maker; The wonderful sisters Victoria and Grace Sheppard founders of Queens of Mayfair; Fay Cannings, founder of Seekd and; Anna Hemmings MBE OLY, olympian, world champion and inspirational speaker. I am not going to give too much away because I want you to experience it for yourself but the stories these women have to share are phenomenal. Stories about stars aligning, resilience and soul work - I hope you really connect with my guests and their journeys. My two main passions in life are jewellery, the stories we can tell and the emotions/people/memories jewellery connects us too. And life - designing your own life and your own legacy. I believe that to truly live a fulfilled life you have to have an idea of where you’re going and even though things may not always go to plan, if we’re living a life on purpose then we’ve done a great job and most importantly can help impact others in a positive way. Enjoy!

About leaving a legacy, Scarlett shares something from her son-in-law sent her when they were discussing the concept of leaving a legacy “write your own obituary, if you don’t like how it reads, rethink what you’re doing”.
